19: han river

A few weeks had passed since then, nobody mentioned anything about Sua and collectively tried to forget about it. They had better things to worry about anyway, it was the testing season, every high schoolers nightmare.

"Jeongin-ah, I already taught you the formula for this problem, should we go over it again?" Seoyun said as she looked over the practice test she made for him.

"Math is hard, when will I ever use this formula in the real world? Who uses the quadratic formula to change a lightbulb, nobody! We should move on to more important subjects, like history or something. Korea prides itself because of our great history, you know," he took the paper from her hands and shut his textbook.

"Math is your first test and it's your worst subject, we have to study it for you to pass the class," she said then grabbed the paper back.

"Can we take a short break? We've been in this cafe for hours now Seoyun and I feel like I might die if you ask me to solve another problem," he pouted.

"Okay, but only for a few minutes because you're so cute," she pinched his cheeks lightly and he smiled.

"If I'm so cute, buy me snacks," he said.

"I spoil you too much," she pet his head then left to go buy themselves snacks.

Ding

Hyunjin

She paid for the snack then returned back to Jeongin. "Hyunjin is coming by later, do you want him to join us?" She asked as she handed him his snacks.

"I don't want to be a third wheel," he said nonchalantly.

"Why would you be the third wheel? Hyunjin loves you, I would most likely be the third wheel in this case," she said and pinched his cheek again.

"Oh sure you would be, please ask Jisung to come too, I don't want to be stuck alone with a couple," he teased.

"Hyunjin and I are not a couple," she stated.

"See, that's the problem. Why are you guys not a couple? Hyunjin has made it fairly obvious that he likes you, do you not like him back?" He asked worriedly.

"It's not that, I do like him," she said.

"Then what's the problem? You like him and he likes you, shouldn't that be a reason to date?" He said.

"I still have a few more loose ends that I need to finish before I can go out with him," she lowered her head and smiled bitterly.

"Let him help you Seoyun," he said. She looked up at him and he was smiling. "You have this tendency to do things by yourself like it was a golden law that had to be followed, but there is no rule that says you can't ask for help. Try it, you never know, he might be just what you need to tie up those 'loose ends,'" Jeongin said then looked away to open his snacks.

She smiled at him fondly then pet his head softly, "if only you were this smart in your math class, then maybe you might just pass," she said then pinched his cheek playfully.

"You just had to bring it up. We were having a moment Seoyun," he glared.

"And now that the moment has ended, we can get back into studying," she smiled while flipping the textbook to their next lesson.

A few hours had passed and Hyunjin had come by to get Seoyun.

"Are you sure you don't want to come with us?" Hyunjin asked Jeongin.

"Yes I'm sure, there's a new videogame I've been wanting to play at home waiting for me," he grinned.

"No videogames, you have to study," she scolded.

"Okay, okay. I'll study after playing," he said. She glared at him and hit his arm lightly. "Okay, study and then play," she glared again, "okay just study then," Jeongin pouted.

"Good boy, text me when you get home," she said then left with Hyunjin.

"Are you hungry?" He asked as he pulled her backpack off and held it for her.

"Starving, and I can hold my things by myself, thank you very much," she said then tried to take it back from him.

"No, your hand would be too busy from holding mine," he said shyly then took her hand into his.

She laughed as he blushed then squeezed his hand tightly, "I guess it is too busy," she looked away from him.

"What do you want to do? I can ask for a driver to take us anywhere," He asked.

"Right now I just want to walk with you, then maybe we can eat something near the Han River, the weather is really nice right now," she leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Then to Han River we go," he said cheerily. "How was your day?" He asked.

"It was good, Jeongin is studying really hard these days. How was yours?" She looked up to him and smiled.

"I studied, that's all I did today, study," he said.

"Hmm, sounds like a lie. Where were you, really?" She poked his side.

"Okay I was with Jisung and Minho, but I did study for a while, I swear!" He said.

"So if I call Jisung or Minho right now, will they say the same answer?" She smirked.

"Go call then," he said smugly.

"I don't need to, your test scores will tell me if you're telling the truth or not," she smirked. "So, food. I know I said something about eating by the Han River, but I'm more hungry than I thought, and that chicken place over there is looking really good right now. You down?"

"I don't want to," he said.

"I don't like you anymore," she quickly let go of his hand and frowned.

"Okay okay, let's go eat there, I'm sorry," he apologized with a sweet smile then held her hand again.

She grinned widely then embraced his arm with excitement, "I was kidding when I said I didn't like you anymore, I still like you a lot. Now let's go!" She said happily then they went into the restaurant.

Once they sat down and ordered their food Hyunjin rested his head against his palms of his hands and stared at her with a smile.

"Can I help you with something?" She copied his gesture.

"Can you say it again?" He asked she tilted her head in confusion. "Say that you like me again, I want to hear it again."

She giggled, "I like you."

"One more time, I like hearing it," he asked with a shy smile with a light blush on his cheeks.

"I like you," she repeated.

"Wait, let me record it so you don't have to keep saying it again," he began to take out his phone then press record.

"You don't have to record it," she stopped the recording. "I'll say as many times as you want me to say it because I really do like you," she smiled while holding his hand.

His face exploded with red as he tried to cover part of his face with his free hand, "okay, I'll take you up on that offer."

They finished their food then made their way to the Han River again. It was already dark once they actually got there, the walk was slower than they thought, mostly because they took their time to just talk while holding hands. They sat at the steps near the shore to watch the lights of the bridge, they've probably seen those lights about a hundred times in their lifetime—most from those sleepless nights Hyunjin would spend with Seoyun.

"Hey, Hyunjin, don't you think the weather is perfect for this right now?" She asked.

"Even if the weather was good, or if it was bad, or if it's just alright, it's always perfect," he said.

"Don't steal lines from tv shows or else I won't go out with you," she said nonchalantly.

"Okay, I'll stop. Wait, go out with me?"

"Did I stutter?"

"No, but I don't think I heard you correctly," he turned to face her.

"Do you want to go out with me?"
