The Day She Died
Ok, I think this is going to be the ending scene of my book, Majority Rules, on my other account. If you are currently reading that book and don't want spoilers, don't read this.

Ansley's POV
They were chained before me. All 14 of them. I didn't know what to do. "You must decide, child. Who will you kill? Only one can survive," the icy voice of my father spoke. I had no memory of the people, but the way they gazed at me told me that I knew them well before I lost my memory. "All of them, or you. What's the verdict?" my father murmured in my ear. The one directly in front of me, stared back at me, his chocolate orbs pleading with me. My brain reeled. Then, I looked up, my eyes sparkling with determination. I turned the gun on myself. "ANSLEY, NO!" My father looked sharply at the man. "Quiet, Daniel. She has made her decision," he said. Ah, so his name is Dan. Closing my eyes, I squeezed the trigger.
Dan's POV
No. Don't do it, Ansley. Kill me. Kill me instead, I thought desperately. She pulled the trigger, and the shot rang loudly in my ears. Her motionless body fell to the ground. "No!" I choked, overcome by sorrow. "Aww, poor Dan. I'm sorry, but only I can live forever," her father said lightly (#sorrynotsorry). I struggled against my bonds, and Ansley's father waved his hand, and surprisingly the ropes disappeared. I raced to Ansley's side and held her one last time. "No, no. I'm sorry, Ansley. You should've killed me," I whispered, my vision blinded by the tears. Everything went black.

Ah, subtle references are just the best, aren't they? XD
