And she roamed with a tag of rape victim.

➥What's Got a Hold Of Me?

The cramps are brutal. My shoulder screams. Spasms so powerful my arm flies without my intent. My feet deformed. The right one is flat. The left, well that one does not abide with me. You got it, amputated a decade ago.

The nerves in my fingers, my toes and my legs, spark startling pains at the worst of times. Medication keeps the muscles from losing their shape, or my hands would curl tight and never type again. Or knit, or crochet, or read a book, because holding it will be impossible and turning a page? Try again.

And what do you think this menace is? This disease which causes spasms and tics galore. Neuropathy which progressively steals the feeling so quickly the sensation of heat yesterday burns today. Or in places not at all. Patchy bits of dead skin and muscle here and there starting in my fingertips and all through my toes. It takes control from me at its own whim. I finally found out what it was after years of asking and wrong diagnosis. I have to seize each opportunity to find the answer.

Any guesses? Diabetes is a surprising no. It's Charcot Marie Toothe Syndrome. A sneaky late onset mimic. It's the mildest form of Muscular Dystrophy.
