Chapter 23 The Plan
Katie struggled to breathe through her lungs. She felt as if she was forced down an ocean, and couldn't swim up to the surface, despite her best efforts. She couldn't find any sort of oxygen to allow her to live, but she couldn't die. She couldn't understand why. At times like this, she wished that she could. That she could get away from her life, and either finish her mission on Earth, or become someone she would choose to be.
Her hand accidentally landed on one of her recent cuts and bruises that were burned onto her skin. She blinked away tears as she shook her head. It's nothing. This is fine. This is normal. This is my life. The life that I will have to suffer through this alone for the rest of my life.
Her mind was fighting itself, and it only made her feel more lost and alone than what she already felt. She wanted to cry out for help, but she knew that no one would hear her calls. She felt truly alone.
Her father enjoyed every bit of her suffering that he intended onto her physically and emotionally. She knew that her life was slowly but surely draining out of her helpless body, and it sickened her knowing that her parents held pride and comfort in what they did, "Let's see what's next on our list..." he thought for a moment as Katie's mother smirked devilishly.
What is it this time? Should I be "excited" by the way my "mother" is looking? Probably not.
"You're probably wondering what we are going to do next, right?" Her mother forced a smile upon her colorless face.
Katie shook her head, "N-No... O-Of c-course not..."
"Good, because we weren't going to tell you anyway. Instead, we were going to show you what we are planning on doing next. You will love this, I'll tell you that."
I highly doubt that. If I was going to love it, I wouldn't be giving you both is emotional expression that I'm currently showing right now. You guys must be dumb! I knew it! I mean, I've known it for years now. It wasn't that hard to figure out really. Even the stupidest person can figure out... Well, maybe.
Depending on how stupid they really are on actually figuring something like this out in the first place. That probably didn't make sense, but I don't really care right now. My brain really isn't in the best situation to process like how a normal brain would. Is there actually such thing like a normal brain? I have no idea. What the heck am I even thinking? I really need to stop.
She decided not to say anything, even though her mind was filled with these strange words that were only attempting to make sense out of everything around her. Language was thrown out the window, and her brain felt like some sort of mushy mud that a kid would play with to make mud pies, or anything that involved mud.
"Your head is spinning. Speak," her father commanded.
"Since the girl probably feels so inclined to race out of here, why not tie her up? Tie her to the bed if you have to. Anything will do if it will keep her sitting still, or in this case, laying down without squirming like a worm," she chuckled softly. "Unless, of course, she is a worm. Are you just a big worm Katie? A worm is what you're worth.
Katie just rolled her eyes barely. Whatever. I don't even care what I am, all I care is about getting out of here.
"Katie, are you a worm or not?"
Katie tilted her head forward, acting as she submitted to every command that they "needed" her to obey, "Yes, mom."
She put a hand to her ear, facing it towards Katie's direction, "I can't hear you. What was that? Yes, mom. What?"
Katie sighed annoyedly, "Yes, mom. I am a worm. Happy?"
She forced a sincere grin, "Yes. Very. Thank you, dear. That wasn't so hard now, was it?"
Katie shook her head, "No, it wasn't that hard, mom. You're welcome." Not.
Her parents turned their attention back towards each other, and Katie knew what she had to do.
Katie wasn't a fan of the idea of being tied up, and wasn't excited for it either. I should get away while I have the chance, whether I fail or not. At least I tried, and I guess that's all that will matter at this point, right? She sighed as she quietly and barely moved when they weren't watching. At times when they did look at her, she was surprised that they didn't even see her at all, or notice that she moved from where she was just an inch ago.
Every inch counts for every chance of me of actually getting closer to getting the heck out of this place. Maybe I can see if my friends will let me stay at my house for a little bit, until I can figure where I can go.
She scooted for what felt like more than ten minutes or so. She was slowly getting impatient, but she forced herself to stay calm and wait for each opportunity that she received. I feel like the more time I spend with them, the more impatient I feel. I wasn't always like this.... I don't want to end up like them either.
Her body tensed up faster than someone could say shotgun. She glanced at her parents, feeling anxious enough to start shaking like someone who just had a seizure. Come on... Don't do this now. I can't deal with this now... Don't you dare shake on me! If you do, you won't like me when I'm angry! Her full attention was focused on both of her parents. Crap... They can see me now. Don't move. Act like you're doing nothing, alright? I swear, I should become a narrator or something if that's all I seem to do now.
"So, I assume you both have decided what you're going to do to me now?" Katie yawned, acting as if she was bored. "I just wanna get this over with. I have homework to do you know."
"So? That can always wait, right?" Her mother rose a brow.
"Not if it's due tomorrow."
"Why do you even care about getting good grades if you always complain that everyone there treats you like the trash you are?"
"Regardless of what happens, I still want to be a good student. I don't want to be like the rest."
"Sounds like too much work if you ask me," she grabbed her makeup and started putting skinny marker shaped object near her eye, as the brushes flowed smoothly on her eyelashes. "Why put in all that effort when you can just be like everyone else? It's that simple, and no one will judge you!" She scowled, "One day you will understand that, Katie. Until then..." she breathed in, then slowly breathed out, "Get that into your thick skull!"
Her father rolled his eyes out of impatience, "Do you always have to put on makeup on times like these? Can't it wait?"
"Of course not!" She snapped. "You can't rush perfection!"
He sighed as he pushed her over, "You will stop putting your stupid makeup on, and help me with her!" His finger directed a line to where Katie was sitting.
I'm definitely in trouble now...
She sighed and rolled her eyes, "Ugh. Fine. Whatever. I'll do what you ask. If you promise me one thing."
"What is it?" She could tell that he was ready to take up any challenge that his wife would direct at him.
"If you allow me to join you in making sure Katie's wellbeing is as terrible as we can make it. If it kills her, then so be it! We have our fun. If she's dead, we will never have to worry about her ever again!" She turned towards Katie with a sinister laugh. "You hear that, girl? We will never have to worry about you again! Ha!" She threw her arms up in the air triumphantly.
Her father joined in on the laughter and what her mother had said. Katie showed no excitement at all, even though it was one wish that was heavily on her mind.
I won't risk my life dying by these psycho paths. I'll only die by my own hand, and no one else. I never ask to place the burden on anyone else. The burden is for me, and me alone. If I don't do this, then I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. Katie smirked. Wait... I have a great idea! I'll just have to go distract them some time. I highly doubt that now would be a good time to do this, but if I can find somewhere to go to sometime today or soon, I should be able to carry out my little plan. She chuckled softly to herself. This is going to be perfect. I just know it!
"What's so funny?" Her father glared down at her. "You think what we do is so funny?" He laughed before she could even get a chance to answer him back. "Oh, you think all of this is a game still, don't you?" He shook his head with a chuckle, "That's really stupid. You're such a little girl, it's disgusting and sad. By now, I thought you would have learned."
Katie sighed, "It's not th-" she was caught off once more by her parents. Why am I not surprised?
"Then what is it then? Why do you keep asking these stupid questions over and over again? You're just showing your stupidity the more you do this, you know. You always say how you don't want to look stupid in front of others."
Her mother laughed, "You're not doing a very good job at doing so."
Katie glared, "Yes, I said that. Though that's my point. Let me speak, and end," she put emphythesis on end, "my thoughts before you reply. If not, I'm not going to tell you," her head swayed side to side showing more of her attitude of how serious she actually was. I'll be in charge now. Not you. Not this time.
Her parents stayed silent, and had no idea what else to say to everything that she was spilling out into the thin air that surrounded each of them. They looked at each other, then back at Katie a few times. The room was silent, was exactly what Katie wanted it to be. Silent without hearing their constant and annoying bitter batter that they constantly threw onto her. She continued to wait to see how long before they would actually reply back to her.

Time went by slower than Katie would have hoped, which only get her more anxious. Her body wanted to move around and do something to keep her mind off all of the stuff that was happening around her. Though so far, nothing seemed to be working. Then, an idea popped into her head. She started acting as if she needed to use the restroom, and would tap her foot, and cross her legs.
"What the heck are you doing? You look stupid doing that!" Her mother announced.
"I, uh... Need to use the bathroom pretty badly right now. I drank too much water right now..."
She grunted, "Really? At a time like this?"
Katie acted like she couldn't hold it back anymore, nodding her head violently, "Yes... Now please, let me through before I pee my pants."
Her mother nodded, "Only because I don't want this how stinking of your stench of bathroom smells," her mother mentioned her to leave. "Just get out of here."
Katie smirked mentally. With pleasure...
******************************************************************************
Katie realized that she did actually have to go to the bathroom, but it wasn't why she was heading towards the room. After she had finished, she did her best to actually leave as quickly and quietly as possible. She was so afraid of being caught, that she even held her breath. Everything felt tight, and she wondered if she would pass out if she wasn't careful. She quietly opened the door, acting as if she was about to cross the street, and tiptoed her way out into the hallway.
"Are you coming, Katie? You're taking forever!" Her mother called out.
She breathed out so she could actually speak, "Coming! Just washing my hands!"
"Hurry!"
"I will!"
"Or else I'll get your father to come in there to get you!"
Katie froze. Yeah... Nope. I need to get out of here fast. She turned the opposite way from her room, and did her best to make it seem that she was actually going to her room. This better work... She wanted to scream, but it took all of her energy to make sure she didn't. She refused to let go of the little hope that she held on to. Her hands were white, but so was her body. To her, the world around her was grey, and at times, pitch black.
"Katie! Get in here now!"
She had forgotten that she was even holding her breath once more. Run. Her legs lifted her as fast as they could, and she could have sworn that there were footsteps coming straight for her. Multiple times, she bumped into doors or walls that surrounded her.
"Where are you going?"
"No where! Going for a run!"
"No, you're staying here! You're not leaving until we finish with you!"
"Leave me alone!" Her breaths were shallow, and she allowed herself to breathe as much as she could. She tripped over a cord, and she panicked for her life as she clumsily got up back on her feet. She sprinted towards the door, her breath grew heavier the more she moved around. She felt herself closer as time went by, and she felt like she was going to make it. Once the door opened, she barely missed her father grabbing onto her.
"Get back here!" He called out, unwilling to move for some time. She fainted heard him pant as she ran away from him.
He is so out of shape. In all honesty, I am too, but I feel like I can bounce off the walls right now. Her mind focused back into her reality. He better not be trying to catch up to me. She focused her attention towards the front of where she was supposed to go, which meant anywhere that was safe for her to go. Don't look back. Don't look back. Don't look back. Don't. Look. Back. She turned her head, noticing that her father was actually chasing her. Fear tickled her skin. Why did I look back? I told myself not to! Stay calm, Katie. He won't get you. Don't worry.
She took a deep breath, running at top speed that she knew that she could run. She didn't run as fast as she currently would normally. Though she ran faster than she ever thought that she could run. Now let's just see how long this will last. Hopefully not too long, and that He will leave me alone after a few minutes. He can't out run me forever, and I can't be wild prey forever either.
"Get back here now, Katie!"
"W-Why should I? All you do is make me feel like a dump bucket! Why should I allow myself to feel that way for the rest of my life?"
"Then you can come back to us when you need us most! This is an addiction that you need! Something that the world is trying to get everyone to need! Accept it, Katie! Accept it!" He called out longingly to her. "There's no way to escape why you were meant to be created for. Do you know what that is?"
She was surprised that he was still able to talk. He normally was out of breath at this point. Unless he's been faking everything like he always has. "No! W-What is it?"
"This!" He managed to catch up to her, slamming her to the ground. After that, she didn't remember anything else other than her vision turning black.
