Chapter 33
(I'm gonna take a break from writing for a little while. I got over 50k for NaNoWriMo, which is a month for writing as much as you can before the month is over, and I passed NaNo's goal! So, I think I deserve this break.)
"Come on," Nick motioned his friends to follow. "Let's search the house. She must be here somewhere."
"Weren't you with her, Nick?" Katie asked curiously. "Where did you last see her?"
"I was walking with her to her room before going to bed. She told me she had to go to the bathroom, and she hasn't come back since."
"Should we split up?"
There were voices that could be heard nearby.
Thomas smiled, "I don't think there is any need to. If we follow the voices we can find where she's at. We should go and not waste anymore time."
Both Katie and Nick nodded as they ran to where the voices were coming from.
"I think it's coming from over here!" Nick called out to the group. He wanted to find Maggie as soon as possible. He ran to the living room, without even seeing if his friends were following him or not. He slowed down until he came to a sudden halt, "Stop right there. We don't want any trouble. Just let Maggie go, and we won't harm you."
The person that turned around was what made Katie gasp louder than they were speaking, "Collin?! How did you find us?!"
******************************************************************************
Katie couldn't believe it. How did he get in here?! Wait... She turned her eyes and noticed that Leola was next to him. Ah, fiddlesticks. Why is she here? All I know is that this must be about me. They don't usually do anything unless if it involves hurting, and even my friends. "What do you guys want this time?" Katie folded her arms. "Why won't you just give up? I don't care what you try to do to me, I'm tired of it! This cycle that we keep repeating is so annoying! Please just leave us alone! Don't you understand what privacy even means?"
Collin laughed, "Of course I know what it is, pathetic girl! Though there is no such thing as privacy nowadays, don't you know?" His voice turned dark, "There's only everything that you could ever desire exist in your own home. All you need is a companion, and you are set to go!"
Maggie rose a brow, "You sound like someone who is trying to advertise something on television. You have a very strange way of doing it, that's for sure."
Leola rolled her eyes, "Can we, like, just get on with this, like, already? This talk is, like, boring. Let's, like, get to some real action in here!"
Collin grinned, "With pleasure, my dear," he ran towards Katie, planning on toppling over her to bring her down. He pushed Maggie out of the way, not caring how injured she could be when she landed on the floor. He didn't even pay attention to where she was landing. All he cared about was that she wasn't in his way.
Thomas sped towards Katie, and was able to get in front of her in time to protect her, "I thought you guys were splitting up?"
Collin kept on grinning, "Oh, I changed the plan last minute. I just want Katie. We have some unfinished business that we have to take care of. Now, if you can step out of my way-" he started before being cut off by Thomas.
"You are not going to touch, Katie. As long as I live," he eyed Collin.
"Is that a challenge I smell?"
"No, a threat. You're not laying a finger on her."
"As long as you live?" Collin finished, laughing. "You know, you're a strong man. Though you're not strong enough to save Katie. Once We help finish you off like Maggie over there, we will take what is ours."
"Katie is not an object!"
"Oh, but she is," a finger pointed towards the ceiling. "All women are. Not many men know it yet," he walked around them. "There was a time when men and women knew their place, but of course the women had to ruin all the fun for us me. They fought for their "rights" that they had, but for many years didn't receive what they wanted. They only received what they needed. Then, one day, it was as if everyone turned a cold shoulder to these beliefs, and accepted women as equals. It's..." he looked at his hand, then back at the couple, "disapointing to say the least. I thought that we were supposed to be superior..."
Thomas shook his head, "No, it's not supposed to be like that. Women and men work hand in hand. What those women did years ago was a start to something great. They are as wonderful as men are. The men and women who treat others with respect and courtesy are the best, because they are not selfish cats. They are kind and loving dogs."
"Do you have something against cats?" NAME asked as she finally made it to the party. "What did I miss?"
No one answered her question for some time, then Thomas sighed, "No, I don't. Cats can be amazing, but their personality can be pretty selfish, more or so than a dog, that's for sure."
NAME rolled her eyes, "Whatever. This sucks. I wanna actually do something this time. I agree with Leola, this is boring! Like, so boring that I could be doing anything else! Like, literally anything!"
Jayne growled and punched NAME out of existence, "Shut up! You're so annoying! Don't you ever stop babbling? I can't believe that Leola actually keeps you! We don't even need you anything! All your worth is a stupid cheerleader that can't even cheer right! I wish you were never born!"
NAME's eyes were swollen in a dam about to break free, "Wh-What...?"
"You heard me!" Jayne snapped so hard that she wasn't even thinking clearly anymore. Though she didn't care about who she was hurting. If she was at least hurting someone, then she enjoyed it. "Don't play stupid with me, even if you are actually really stupid!" She growled and kicked her legs as hard as possible.
NAME tried blocking herself as she fell down, "S-Stop, please!"
"I'll stop until you realize that this isn't a game. Do you understand me?"
She nodded and hid herself, still trying to defend herself, "I-I understand... Just please stop this madness, J-Jayne... Why are you doing this?"
"It's because I need to show you what happens when you don't follow orders. You will only receive consequences that can be worse than this if you allow it to be. Have you finally learned your lesson? You must mean it full heartedly. If not, I'll just keep this up. I can do this all day."
NAME nodded as tears slid down her cheeks, "A-Alright. I mean it! I learned my lesson. Just stop! Please!"
Leola turned to Jayne and nodded, "Let her go. We can worry about her later. Right now, we need to focus on our mission."
Jayne growled softly as she stop abusing NAME.
NAME gasped and cried out of relief.
Jayne glared, "Get up! We have no time for emotions. We need to deal with these idiots first. Unless if you want to be like them."
Grace, now knowing what Jayne could do to her, shook her head violently, "No! Of course not! Let's just do this as swiftly as we can," she got up with a slight struggle, but still managed to get up regardless. She didn't want to say anything else after that.
Leola rolled her eyes, "That was more dramatic than it needed to be," she turned back to her enemies, "Just give Katie to us so we can get this over with. This is taking much longer than it needs to be."
Thomas didn't move from his spot, "No, I won't let you take her hostage. She's suffered enough today. Just leave her alone. She doesn't want any of you guys."
Collin laughed softly, "That's not for you or Katie to decide. Only me. I'm the final decision maker around here, and I say that I want her. She's mine!"
"She's not your property to own! She is a human being just like the rest of us!"
Collin laughed once more, "Yeah, right. She will never be just like us. If she were, I would not be doing this right now," he turned to Katie with a knowing smirk.
Katie shivered. Does he have to look at me like that?
******************************************************************************
Maggie finally woke up from her short coma, "Wh-What happened?"
Nick ran to Maggie's aid faster than the Flash ever could, "Maggie! Are you alright?
Maggie gasped and tried escaping, not fully awake yet.
Nick grabbed her hand gently, "Shh... It's just me, Nick. I'm not here to hurt you. You're safe with me now."
Maggie looked up at Nick, nodding as she held his hands too, "Th-Thank you..."
Nick grinned as he brought her closer to him, "You're welcome. I'm just glad you're safe."
Maggie blushed and smiled, "Thanks to you. If you didn't save me, I might not be here right now, even though I might take on the fight if I didn't want to go down in vain."
Nick chuckled softly, "Don't worry. I wouldn't let you go down in vain. Besides, you wouldn't go down in vain anyway."
Maggie rose a brow, "Why do you say that?"
"You were helping save Katie's life. I don't think you would go down in vain for that."
"Are you sure about that?"
He nodded, "In my book you wouldn't."
Maggie blushed, "Thank you, Thomas. You're sweet."
"I try to be," he noticed how she was still worried. "Don't worry, we'll make sure Katie is safe too."
Maggie nodded, but wasn't sure if that was going to be true or not. She looked down, then back up at him sighing, "How do you know this is gonna work, and that we'll all be alright in the end?"
Thomas sighed, "I don't. I just know that we'll figure it out somehow. We always do."
Maggie nodded, "I guess that's true. I just hope that this will work out in the end."
Thomas nodded, "I hope so too. We'll just going to have to try our best, and make the most of it."
Maggie nodded, "Yeah, I guess that's true. Thank you again."
He gave her a soft kiss on the lips, "You're welcome. Anything for you."
Maggie blushed more, staring at him out of surprise, "W-Why do you always have to make me flustered, T-Thomas? It's not funny! It's really not! Stop it!" She covered her face so Thomas couldn't see how red she was feeling.
Thomas chuckled, holding her in his arms to protect her from any other sort of danger that was near them, "You're cute. You really are."
"No, I'm not!"
"Yes, you are."
"No. I'm not!" She refused to look at him.
"Yes, you are," he couldn't help but laugh softly. "You are and always will be."
Maggie continued to refuse to accept the fact that she was blushing like crazy. She shook her head constantly, wishing that she wasn't blushing this bad like how she was right now. All she wanted was to stop and not do this anymore. She even wanted to go as far as being knocked out again, then should could forget all of this ever happened.
Thomas grinned as he chuckled and continued on hugging her, "You're wonderful."
Maggie started blushing not as much as she giggled at his comment, but she was still blushing, "Same goes back to you, Thom!"
******************************************************************************
Collin started to pounce on Thomas, aiming only him. He ignored anyone else around him.
Thomas did his best to not lose his balance from the pounce. He didn't want to Maggie to fall over again, so he decided to hold onto Collin instead; hoping he could knock him off balance somehow. He growled softly, "You little-"
"Little what?" Collin smirked as he struggled to make sure that Thomas went down just like how Maggie did. "What? Cat caught your tongue?"
Thomas punched Collin, "Just shut up, will you? We don't want anything to deal with you. You had your chances, but you've wasted all of them."
"Good. I was hoping that we could fight here and now."
