CHAPTER 11
The music could blow up my eardrums!
Joan pulled me through the crowd it seemed she had a destination and I wasn't wrong when she brought me to the staircase where four of her friends were.
"Hey guys this is Hayley" she introduced and I waved shyly.
"What's up Hayley!" Someone cheered.
"Hayley, this is Tommy" She pointed to the boy with a cigarette in hand who nodded his head up at me.
"Lisa" she pointed and Lisa shouted she was the one who had cheered What's up?
"Bethy" she pointed to the girl with blonde hair who just smiled at me.
"And Danny" she introduced.
"Hey cupcake" Danny smiled and I returned it.
Joan walked over to Tommy and took the cigarette from his hand.
" Let's go do something fun!" Lisa cheered standing on her feet but she stumbled back and almost fell but Tommy caught her.
"Careful babe your way too drunk" he scolded and she turned to him and clapped in his face as she laughed.
"I agree with Lisa let's do something fun" Danny said staring at me with a smile I knew I should be wary of.
"Anything to get me off these stairs" Bethy groaned.
"Beer pong?" Joan asked and they all nodded and began to move to where I guessed we would be playing the beer pong.
"What's beer pong?" I asked Joan.
Beer Pong is generally played by teams of two in which each team takes turns throwing a table tennis ball into the other team's cups. Once a ball lands in a cup, the cup is taken away and the opponent then drinks the contents of the cup. If both teammates hit cups, the balls are rolled back and they get to shoot again.
"It's a game where we take turns in tossing the ball into cups. Once a ball lands in the cup, the cup is removed and your opponents drink from the cup" she explained.
"What is in the cup?" I asked.
"Alcohol" she replied with a smile I froze with a frown on my face.
"It's no fun if it isn't alcoholic" she said.
"I have a low tolerance for alcohol" I whisper yelled.
I don't want to be drunk in a frat house.
"Then you just have to not lose right?" She asked with a wink and I groaned.
We got to a free table where they began setting up while Joan rushed to get the wine since Lisa was in no condition to.
"Do you go to our school I've never seen you before?" Danny asked.
No shit sherlock
"Yea we are definitely in different departments" I said and he smiled.
"That may be true but this is my first time seeing you at a party" he said.
"Yea" I replied.
"I guess we shouldn't expect nerds at a party" he chuckled and this made me frown.
"Hey I'm just kidding okay, you look nerdy but also very cute" he said with a wink.
"Take a break from flirting Danny!" Bethy groaned and he just smiled at her.
"Okay I was able to steal most of the good stuff" Joan said setting the bottles on the table.
That's a lot of wine for a game
"Yay more wine!" Lisa cheered coming to grab a bottle but Tommy pulled her back.
"You've had enough for one night" he said and she pouted.
"Okay let's begin" Bethy said.
"Volunteer for captains?" Joan asked.
"Me" bethy said.
"And me" Danny said.
"Anyone got a coin?" Joan asked and I handed one over to her.
"Heads or tails?" She asked the two.
"Heads" Bethy replied.
"Tails" Danny said with a smile.
Joan flipped the coin.
"Tails" she announced and Danny cheered a yes.
"I choose Hayley" He started and I froze hearing my name.
"I choose Joan" Bethy replied.
"Tommy" Danny called.
"Lisa?" Bethy asked and Lisa jumped over to Bethy's side.
The game began.
Danny was quite good but I on the other hand...
"Come on Hayley!" Danny cheered and I tossed the ball but it didn't even reach the cup.
Tommy didn't even look like he was trying yet still winning, Joan and Bethy were quite good even a drunk Lisa was good.
I took my third cup of the night and tried to do better on my next turn this time it reached the cup.
After my fifth cup, I started feeling lightheaded.
"Go Hayley!" Danny cheered and Tommy pumped his fist in the air.
I tossed the ball and it entered the cup and I shouted.
It seemed I had gotten better.
I smiled brightly.
"we won" Danny cheered and I clapped loudly while Tommy smiled a little.
"no no!" we heard Tommy say as he walked over to Lisa and jacked the bottle from her hand as she started pouring it down her throat.
"Babe" she called as she toppled forward and he reached for her.
"I think I'm going to throw up" she warned.
"okay let's get you outside" he said pulling her hair away from her face and she began to vomit and he quickly rushed her outside.
"let's go dance" Joan cheered and pulled me to the dance floor leaving Danny behind who seemed to be engrossed in his phone.
The alcohol made it easier for me to feel less ashamed and free so I went all out with my dancing.
Twerking and all.
Joan was a very good dancer I had to admit.
I felt alive. Why had I not done this all these years?
I felt a hand on my waist and hips grinding against mine and I turned to find a total stranger.
I tried to pull away for a second before I reminded myself that this was something I had never done before and I was sure to regret it.
I continued dancing not caring that the guy behind me who grabbed my waist was a total stranger.
I turned to find Joan shaking her head at me with a smile making me roll my eyes.
My body moved to the rhythm of the song enjoying myself when felt the stranger's hands begin to slide down going further than my waist.
