Zander's POV

I was giving my mate a small but warm smile that I soon felt fall off my face and had been replaced with a frown as my eyes spotted my mate's face and how it had a few bruises on it. I leaned closer towards her face so I could get a better look at what happen to her face

"What happen to your nose Arielle?"

I looked over her face as she put on a thoughtful face before she spoke telling me that they had been playing a game of dodgeball at her school while she was in gym when a young female got a large male to throw a ball at her face indicating in her having a bloody and bruised face. Those two people she spoke of had to be humans because no one from my pack would dare lay a hand on my mate and their Luna because they know doing so would be punishable by death. I tightened my jaw from anger at what she said, but before I could utter a word I heard my Beta female Nella say

"but you don't have to worry Arielle handled it, she socked the poor girl so hard she fell to the floor and started bleeding herself"

When my beta female said this I saw Arielle had a smile on her face before she turned so that she was facing me. When she looked at me I looked over her face and saw that she had a confused but cute look on her face and that is when I heard a loud crash come from behind her. Before I could even see what the crash had been I felt my Midnight switch to protective mode for his mate making me pull Arielle's chair closer to mine. I could feel the sparks coming from her body to mine as her back was touching chest. I put my face close to her neck letting a few deep breaths exit my body, while inhaling the wonderful scent of vanilla and fresh strawberries that is when I heard her mutter a soft 'are you okay' I had yet to calm Midnight to the full intent so all I did was place my hand onto her waist pulling her person closer to mine.

After a few seconds of her not saying anything to me I looked up to see that the crash had been two of my pack members, an older male and a pup. I nearly let a growl pass my lips at the male for disrespecting someone's pup but I was interrupted by my mate pulling herself away from me standing herself up from her chair looking at the male with a look of hatred it seemed telling him to shut his mouth before she turned to the pup helping her up from the ground before the both of them started to move to the back where the women's washroom was. I could feel that everyone at our table was just as surprised as I had been, not by Arielle's outburst but because she used her Female Alpha voice without even knowing it. My beta turned in his chair so it was facing me uttering "Did she just . . . "

I gave him a look before I gave him a small nod turning to the man sending him a glare telling him that he angered his Alpha female and Alpha male. When I did this I watched as he shrank back into his chair that he was seated in once again. I stood up from the table making eye contact with him telling him to leave the diner and if I ever heard of him disrespecting someone's pup again there would be hell to pay because the Blood-Moon pack has no toleration for that type of behavior, we respect our own that is how we stay united. After a few more seconds of silence from everyone at our table the women's washroom door opened and my beautiful mate walked out after the pup, I watched as Arielle walked back to where we all sat at our table as the pup went off somewhere that I did not know, probably to get a clean shirt that she could wear seeing as the one that she had on at the moment had food all over it. When Arielle sat back in her chair that was directly diagonal to where I sat she gave all of us a smile but when she saw that we all had been looking at her a strange way she looked at all of us before saying 'what' as she begun to finish her bagel that was ordered for her and her tea, The is when my beta female looked at her

"What was that Arielle?"

"I can't just sit around seeing someone yell at another person, I don't like it"

When she said this I could feel the pride wash over me as I smiled at her, just this simple act of kindness to a teenager that she had no clue who she was . . . It showed me how much of a wonderful Luna to my pack that this woman was going to become. Everyone at the table just sent her a nod accepting her answer before they went back to eating their food, as did I because to tell you the truth I was starving. After a few minutes of small talk and eating I heard a chair squeak from movement of a chair pushing on a tiled floor of the diner and I felt body heat radiating off me from another making me look to my left to see that Arielle had moved her chair so that it was next me.

I knew the others at the table had saw what she did because I could see them looking at her and then looking at me but after a few seconds of us staring she started to eat her food again not even bringing up her moving. I looked over her marvelous face one last time to see that she had a small smile added to her face as she started jumping into conversations every now and again with the others at the table.

*A few weeks later*

Arielle's POV

It has been a few weeks since the lunch that I had at Rosa's Diner with the others, The bruises on my face from Rebecca getting that buff dude, that I never cared to learn his name, to hit me with a plastic dodgeball has healed very well, there is no longer a bruise gracing my face, which I am very happy about. Another thing is that I have not seen the handsome face of Zander Black since having lunch with them and I could not stop thinking about him, I mean I wanted to find him, yes but I did not want to be some kind of stalker . . . that is just ludicrous . . . Right? I mean what if he did not feel anything like I did? I have never really been with anyone or felt like this for anyone, so I do not know how this whole thing works if I am telling you the truth.

But I knew that something was off and it was bugging me; it was telling me that something was not right and I do not really know if it's the crazy girl who got super attached to a hot guy on the first day of officially meeting him or if something was really off and it had to do with Zander and my friends. I have also finished high school officially I got my diploma to show it as well, that meaning that I have not seen any of the others either. None of them have came to my motel either so I have not seen them in about just as long and it was bugging me because I hate having this horrible feeling in my gut.

I have tried to send messages to both Cara and Nella but neither of them are answering any of the messages did I say something wrong when we were at lunch, did this have to do with how I reacted to the guy yelling at the girl? Did they find out about my horrible past? My mind goes to the absolute horrible thing it could think of and I start thinking my newly found friends have gotten hurt or even killed and I hate having those types of thoughts not wanting them to be true. This Is why I hate making friends when I go to new places . . . attachment. Now the thought of leaving this small town and them in a few weeks made me horribly sad and a ill feeling rose in my stomach making me have second thoughts. I never really had friends in my life ever and to have this was something new and it felt amazing and what was more amazing than having actual friends was actually liking a guy. I came out of my thoughts by the sound of my phone that was placed on the bedside table indicating I had just received a message on it. I think I might have just flew across my bed to reach my phone before pulling it up to my eyeline as I sat back normally on the crinkly bed reading the message on the screen. Seeing that the message I received came from Cara made me smile but just as fast as my smile came onto my face it came off of it instantly because once I read what she sent my heart dropped to my feet and began beating like a runaway robber.

Cara: Zander has been horribly injured, a few others as well. We need you Arielle. You must know something about us

I do not know where the pain came from, but when I read that Zander was heart . . . it felt like I was being stabbed in the chest with an ice pick. I could not stop my eyes from filling with tears, it was like my body was feeling something my mind had yet to comprehend like my body knew where this pain was coming from, but I soon reread the message standing up really fast from the lumpy cushion that my vision went black and I became faint for a moment. That sudden lightheadedness did not stop me from walking to the closet grabbing my bag throwing it onto the bed rushing my shaking hands through all the article of clothing that I owned until I found the perfect one, I did not even go change in the restroom I just stripped out of my nightwear right there and put on the clothes that I chose. Once I was finished I grabbed my phone that I sat down to get dresses texting Cara to know know where it was I was suppose to be heading to.

Once I was out of the paint chipped door I turned myself to face it putting the old key they the manager gave me and locked the door. I walked towards the concrete steps that led to the first floor making my way to my blue car. When I was fully inside of the car I put my key into the engine turning it until I heard my car come to life, getting a message from Cara at the same time. I looked at it before I started driving to see that she gave me the address, making me sigh as I put it into the maps on my phone. Not even a minute after putting in the address I received another message from Cara making me promise that whatever she tells me I could not leave, making me worry about what she was going to tell me . . . She also told me that she was not the one that was suppose to tell me Zander was but they are desperate.

I promised her that I would at least hear her out and not leave after she told me this 'big' secret. After I convinced her that I was not going to leave, I pulled up the maps app starting the directions to get to this place that looks to be in the middle of the huge forest about twenty minutes away from where my motel was.

"you should reach your destination in approximately 21 minutes"
