Anya Mournell never imagined she would know the privilege of being considered normal. From the moment she was born, her mother saw her as a curse, born on Friday the thirteenth, an omen of misfortune to the superstitious town of Duskwell. Whispers claimed a murder of crows had gathered on their roof that day, that her gaze could pass bad luck, that her very presence would stain the town forever. None of it was true, but it didn't matter.

Shunned and friendless, Anya spent her childhood hidden away in a creaky wooden cottage on the forest's edge, her only comfort her own company and her cat. By twenty, she had accepted a life of solitude, until fate intervened. Her mother's sudden death by the town well, with a lone crow as witness, reignited the whispers and suspicion. Her father, weary of their cursed reputation, chose to leave Duskwell behind.

That is how Anya Mournell arrived in the eerie village of Vranmere. Beautiful yet strange, it felt instantly like home, as though her soul had been called there. For the first time, people welcomed her, and she even dared to call some friends. But one mystery pulled at her more than any other: the castle perched on the highest peak above the valley. No one but the oldest villagers had ever entered, and its grounds were strictly forbidden. All the more reason for Anya to uncover its secrets.

What Anya did not know was that the castle's only resident had already taken notice of her and had been waiting. For twenty-three years, Lazar Kravanov had kept his gates closed, his true nature hidden beneath the polished mask of nobility. To the villagers, he was merely an aloof aristocrat but in truth, he was something far older, and far more dangerous. A curse.

Soon, tradition would compel him to open his doors once more and when Anya crossed that threshold, she would be stepping straight into her undoing.

🪦 HEHEHEHE HELLO THERE🫦 how yall doing. I literally couldn't stop myself as this book has been brewing in my head for almost a year now (the original idea is almost four years old now) and who can say no to a vampire story. But yeah I am genuinely hyped for this like I have pre planned everything from start to finish and I hops it will be good😭 this fic is literally my baby

🪦 also I am going to keep some traditional vampire stuff in it cus why not but also giving my own little twist. So yeah this is going to be a good old gothic vampire story with mixed vibes from stuff like nosferatu, sleepy hollow, dark shadows and dracula. Also be prepared for angst, like tons of angst and yearning and some enemies to lovers. Literally mixing my favourite tropes into one 👅
