7: Summer's PoV

Honestly. An hour ago, we were spying on policemen. Where are we now? Getting chased by some wierd monster-girl. As if my life couldn't get wierder after the Sebastian guy told us about the gods. Maybe it is just my luck. To clarify, my lack of luck.

She takes a step towards, and Lou gives me a nervous glance. "Er, what do we do?" he mutters.

Sebastian looks at us solemnly. "Now would be a good time to run."

I nod hastily. "Yeah."

Without hesistating, I sprint off into the street as fast as my feet will take me, with Sebastian and Lou following closely behind. The monster-girl lets out a hiss of pure evil and takes off after us, her mismatched legs moving at almost the speed of light. I run to the side of the road and behind a building, and try to catch my breath before turning to the others.

"What now?" is the first thing that escapes my mouth.

Sebastian looks at us nervously. "Err.. no idea."

I cough. "Wonderful."

Lou interjects. "Can she be killed?"

Sebastian thinks about this for a moment. "Yes, for now. But it'll be hard."

Lou raises an eyebrow. "For now?"

Suddenly, there is a crash and the monster-lady appears before us, hissing with her fanged teeth. She looks angrier than ever, if that is possible and the dagger glows with a creepy aura.

Lou glances at her, then at us. "You know what? Maybe that can wait."

Sebastian and I nod as the monster-girl lashes out at us with her dagger, narrowly missing Lou's arm. I glance at our surroundings quickly, trying to ind a suitable weapon that can either kill or disarm her. A small pile of bricks in the corner catches me eye, and I lunge for it quickly.

The monster-girl sees what I am doing a moment later, and comes at me. The millisecond brofre she sinks her teeth into my neck, Lou kicks her hard in the stomach, causing her to screech with pain. Without hesistating, I take my chance. I take one of the bricks (which is a lot heavier than I expected) and lob it as hard as I can at her head.

After years of dodgeball, my aim is more or less perfect (not to brag, of course) and it hits her on the side of her head, causing her eyes to vibrate slightly with the force. I might have done a bit too much damage though. She gives one last scream of fury and, to my utter horror, crumbles into a sand-like dust.

The monster-girl is gone.

Lou is the first to break the silence. "What the heck just happened?"

I put my hand on the wall, my the scene replaying in my head. "D-did I just kill her?" My voice is a lot weaker than I expected.

Sebastian nods slowly. "Yeah. Maybe I should explain a few things."

Lou walks over to me, his eyes serious and slightly concerned. "You good?"

I give him a small smile. "As good can be, considering I just murdered someone. Or something." I look at Sebastian. "So who or what was she?"

Sebastian glances around, as if to check the monster-girl has properly gone and is not secretly watching us. "That was an empousa. They are what vampires are based off, and I'm pretty sure they were created by Hebe. They are commonly known for seducting men and then killing them, or just killing them first." He pats Lou on the shoulder, a mock look of gratitude on his face. "Well done, my friend, for ignoring her."

Lou gives him a sheepish grin and shrug. "To be honest, I was more focused on trying to escape than her face."

A sudden thought occurs to me. "Hey, Sebastian? You know how you said they could only die for now? And how, in the myths monsters could be reborn in Tartarus? Is that true?"

He nods grimly. "Yeah. Some monsters take longer than others; some take days, some take years and some even take centuries to he reborn. Not sure about the empousa though. But let's hope she stays dead for a while."

I laugh. "I'm hoping."

Lou seems to be in deep thought. After a few moments, he looks at Sebastian. "You mentioned that place for... demigods, and how it would take a long time to get there. The empousa came after us less than five minutes after we found out. But what about days?"

I glance at Lou, then at Sebastian. "Yeah, he's got a point. Won't they come after us even more? Who knows if we'll even get there alive?"

Sebastian pauses for a moment, an unusual look opin his eyes, then turns to us. "I guess we'll have to wait and see."

Lou shrugs. "Oh well. May as well start now." He turns to us, smiling. "I feel a bit like the the Three Musketeers. Any thoughts?"

I smile back. "You're loopy."

He shrugs. "Fair enough. Sebastian?"

Sebastian grins. "I'm with Summer on this one."

Lou shrugs again and puts on a mysterious face. "Maybe... maybe.... maybe I am loopy...."

We all crack up at this, and it is the after-laughter sighs that set us off again.
