Isla Loveage hates Fred Weasley.

Hate is a strong word, of course, but it's an emotion Isla has never felt for anyone other than Fred Weasley. No matter what she does or where she goes, she can't shake the awful, burning feeling of anger whenever he so much as looks at her. The reason why? Everything that ever goes wrong during her time at Hogwarts is because of him. Like the time her hair caught fire in Charms class—Fred Weasley and his careless wand-work. Or the time she unknowingly ate a Nose-Bleed Nougat on Halloween—snuck into her candy stash by Fred Weasley, of course. Every single jinx, stunt, and ill-timed prank—it's all because of Fred Weasley.

Whether it's his relentless pranks, his insufferable personality, or his lack of regard for others, Isla somehow always finds herself the unintended victim of his schemes, caught in the crossfire. But Fred doesn't just mess with her reputation or her grades or her sanity—he makes her feel like a walking target. And what makes it worse? He seems to enjoy it.

Now in her seventh year, Isla is determined not to give Fred Weasley the satisfaction any longer. With her N.E.W.T. exams right around the corner and the looming threat of Dolores Umbridge's iron rule over the school, Isla decides it's imperative not to let any more distractions disrupt her final year at Hogwarts.

          That is, until they become too much to ignore.

After a series of particularly humiliating incidents, Isla decides she's had enough. If Fred Weasley wanted to play games, she'd beat him at his own. Armed with her talent for Potions and a streak of calculated vengeance, she hatches a plan: brew a love potion strong enough to distract him—preferably with someone as infuriating as he is.

So when she overestimates her skills and the potion goes horribly wrong (or horribly right, depending on how you look at it) Isla finds herself in the crosshairs of Fred's sudden and overwhelming affection. At first, it's a nightmare. Then, it's a problem. And then... it's something else entirely. Because the more time she spends with this "lovesick" version of Fred, the harder it becomes for Isla to remember why she ever hated him in the first place.

With rumors swirling, her conscience gnawing at her, and the very real threat of Umbridge catching wind of her magical misconduct, Isla scrambles to find a way to undo the damage without getting caught. But the longer Fred stays under the potion's influence, the more complicated things become—because Isla can't quite tell if his feelings are entirely fake... or if hers might be becoming real.

i'm coming back to my roots with my latest harry potter obsession and i could not be happier.

i'm going to be honest, i don't have a real plan for this book, other than the fact that i want it to be one of those fun, feel-good stories that kind of deviate from the plots of the original books. i love reading those kinds of books on ao3 and i'm going to do my best to do something similar with this book <3

that being said, this book will take place during harry's 5th year (7th year for the twins), so i will reference that plot, but i want to focus mainly on isla and fred than completely on harry story line.
