Home with you
(2003)
"I'D NEVER WANT TO LIVE," Corazon dreamily sighs as she leans on the wood porch railing, with a warm mug of type A blood in her hands that formed a fleeting mist before dissipating in the cool air. The air carries the scent of pine needles, damp earth, and the faint, crisp bite of mountain air. The river roars, but not in a way that startles—it is a deep, steady sound, a song of water tumbling over stone.
Here, in North Cascades, Marblemount, Washington, nature is vast and wild, a place where towering evergreens surrounded them like towering guards that separated them from the bustling city life. It's the calm Corazon and Jasper have been looking for for decades. The peace and quiet that they both had fought so hard to get.
In the end, everything is worth the chaos if it means that they'll have this kind of haven.
Jasper hums thoughtfully, the sound vibrating like a gentle breeze. His arms wrapped around Corazon's waist, his chin rested on top of her head, and his eyes closed as he took in the moment's tranquility.
Corazon's eyes, once again, fixated on the moon.
The moon, a steadfast companion to Corazon since she was a child, the moon witnessed her dreams and witnessed her nightmares come to life. It listened to her hopes and listened to her cries.
And now, it accompanies her through immortality's journey of eternity.
But for Corazon, ever since Jasper entered, her life was as smooth as the gentle winds of the night. Something changed, shifting her perspective of the moon.
She smiled to herself and thought, "The moon has no idea Jasper's so much better at guiding me through the darkness,"
Without knowing that Jasper's constant thoughts rotated around her, "Corazon puts the sun to shame on how she brightens my life."
The sun, fierce and unwavering.
The moon, soft and quiet.
Yet, it always remains steady. A balance. Eternal in its cycle.
Corazon and Jasper undeniably see themselves as the sun and moon. It is the kind of love that never truly fades, only shifts and changes, just as the sky turns from gold to indigo and back again.
Then Corazon turned around as her back leaned against the wood porch railings. Jasper's hands remained firmly on her waist. She faced him as she gave him a smile. She traced his face with the tip of her fingers, from the outline of his jaw to his cheekbones, eyebrows, and lips. She webbed her fingers through his golden hair.
"I love you," Corazon tells him with such tenderness that it never fails to engulf Jasper in a trance.
"I love loving you," Jasper has a need to please her, make her smile, make her happy, and give her all the things that she wants and desires. It's madness. Yet, he welcomed it whole. He feels like he can conquer the entire universe whenever she smiles at him, like what she's doing right now.
"Thank you for loving me, especially the parts that are not easy to love," Corazon whispers to him, a hint of vulnerability in her voice, a hint of aching sorrow in her emotions that Jasper immediately resolved as he engulfed her with love that is and will always be only directed to her.
"I love you even more in times when you are unkind to yourself, and I will always be by your side," Jasper placed a lingering kiss on her forehead as his hand rested on the back of her neck.
"Where do you want to go next, sinta?" Jasper asks, his voice deep and smooth, full of love.
Corazon turns to him, her gaze soft yet unwavering as she reaches for his hand. A gentle smile tugs at her lips before she whispers, "I'm exactly where I'm meant to be, here with you."
