Brooke Carson had Stars Hollow in her bones.

Her mother, Siena Carson, had been born and raised in the quirky little town, long before it became a postcard-perfect backdrop for bookish teenagers and town troubadours.

Siena knew every corner of Stars Hollow—the best spot under the gazebo to avoid bird poop, which step on Miss Patty's porch squeaked loudest, and how to get Taylor Doose to change his mind (answer: stubbornness and baked goods).

When Siena found out she was pregnant at sixteen, it was the kind of small-town scandal that made the rounds in three minutes flat.

But Siena, never one to wilt under gossip, held her head high.

She named her baby Brooke—after Brooke Shields, the towering beauty of the '80s who, in Siena's words, "wasn't just a pretty face—she was bold, smart, and didn't take crap from anyone." That was the kind of girl Siena wanted to raise.

A year later, in 1985, a woman named Lorelai Gilmore moved to Stars Hollow with her baby girl, Rory.

Lorelai was also sixteen, also headstrong, and also a young mom carving out life on her own terms.

Siena, marched right up to her on the town green and said something like, "Hey, I've got a baby, you've got a baby—want to not lose our minds together?"

And just like that, Siena and Lorelai became inseparable.

Their friendship was the stuff of Stars Hollow legend: lightning-fast banter, matching levels of sarcasm, and an unshakable loyalty built on motherhood, caffeine, and a healthy disdain for judgmental townies. Between Siena's earthy warmth and Lorelai's quick wit, they were the ultimate duo.

Naturally, Brooke and Rory grew up more like sisters than friends.

There were endless sleepovers at the Gilmore house—ones that involved midnight Pop-Tart runs, movie marathons (Clueless, The Breakfast Club, and Anything with Colin Firth), and whispered confessions about boys they pretended not to like.

They navigated drama side by side, helped each other with school projects, and perfected the art of sarcastic commentary during town meetings. Lorelai often referred to Brooke as "my second daughter" or, depending on the mood, "Rory 2.0, but with more sunshine."

Brooke had a permanent place in the Gilmore home: a toothbrush in the upstairs bathroom, her favorite mug on Lorelai's shelf (which mysteriously disappeared every few months), and an open invitation to raid the candy stash anytime she pleased.

Sookie doted on her, Babette called her "sweetheart," and Taylor—well, Taylor tolerated her because she helped with town events and somehow always made the signboards look better. Luke even thought of her as his own child

Brooke knew Luke well—after all, Siena and Luke had been friends since childhood. They'd grown up swapping bike chains and arguing over who made better coffee.

It was a sweet, steady life. Until the day Luke's nephew came to town.
