v. love the vibe
Lorelei stood in the woods just outside of school where Coach had the track team run. She was stretching, bending her right leg back and holding it. As she brought her leg down, transferring legs, she felt a body walk up to her.
"I didn't know Lorelei Addams was on the cross country team." Aiden sang as he walked towards Lorelei, a small and amused smile on his face as Lorelei held back her own grin. The blonde shrugged, turning her body to face Aiden as she gave him a childish grin, flipping her hair that was in her ponytail. "I dabble. Plus, it helps with my ballet."
Aidens smirk only got wider, his eyebrows raising at Lorelei's words. "Ballet?" He asked and Lorelei gave him a small smile, nodding her her. "Mhm."
Coach blew his whistle. Aiden gave one last look to Lorelei before walking towards the front of the crowd with his brother. As the team started to run, Lorelei noticed Isaac growling beside her. Just as Isaac was about to run, Lorelei grabbed his arm, stopping him as she looked at him with furrowed brows.
"What's wrong?" Lorelei asked as Scott, who was standing behind Lorelei, watching the two, walked towards them.
"It's them." Isaac growled out before ripping himself out of Lorelei's grip, running after the other teens. "Isaac, wait! Isaac!" Scott yelled, going to run after Isaac, but quickly gave up after he passed Lorelei.
"Who's them?" Lorelei asked and Scott immediately turned around to Lorelei, lowering himself slightly so he was the same height as her. "Remember when someone attacked Isaac?" Scott asked and Lorelei's brows furrowed deeper, nodding her head. "Yeah..." She rang out and Scott nodded. "It's the twins."
Before giving Lorelei time to react, he turned around, running after Isaac.
"What?!" Lorelei yelled and after Scott didn't answer her, she groaned, running after the two.
Lorelei was a lot slower than the others considering she didn't have enhanced speed. As she ran after Scott, her vision turned white and she immediately skidded to a stop. She felt a chill go up her spine as a foggy image of what she saw before her vision started appeared around her. She could hear a faint scream for help. She knew she was still in her vision but followed the voice anyway.
She walked off the track and into the ray of trees. The calling for help got louder the more she walked. Suddenly, the cries for help stopped and the air went silent. Lorelei looked at the bases of the trees around her and her eyes fell on a shoe peaking behind a tree a few feet away from her, as if someone was hiding.
Lorelei walked around the tree and as soon as she did, she left her vision and she was met with a dead body tied up by his bleeding neck staring right back at her.
Lorelei screamed, her voice ripping her throat to get every bit of air out. Her voice was so loud in and around her, she didn't hear Ethan, Aiden, Isaac and Scott running up from behind her. Lorelei went to take a step back away from the body but her foot landed on a broken branch behind her and she started to fall to the ground.
She felt a body catch her from under her arms. She tried to catch her breath as she looked up to see who had caught her, her eyes locking with Aiden. "Are you alright?" Aiden asked, pushing Lorelei up so she was standing and facing him, his hands on her shoulders.
Lorelei, still trying to catch her breath from the shock, nodded her head as she kept her eyes on Aiden, too worried she'd see the body again if she looked anywhere else. "Yeah. I'm okay."
Aiden slowly nodded, hearing Lorelei's heartbeat and knowing she wasn't telling the truth. Suddenly, an arm grabbed Lorelei's, pulling her out of Aiden's grasp. Lorelei flinched, turning her head to Isaac who was flashing his gold eyes at Aiden. "Don't touch her." Isaac snarled.
More footsteps came up from behind the five and Lorelei jumped, turning around to see Coach and the rest of the students running over.
...
After the police showed up to check the body, Scott, Lorelei, Stiles and Isaac started walking back to school, Isaac growling under his breath every few seconds as he looked back at the crime scene, the twins still standing there.
"You see the way the twins looked at him?" Isaac asked, leaning onto Lorelei so he was closer to Stiles and Scott. Stiles scoffed, looking at Isaac from over Lorelei and Scott. "Yeah, you mean like they had no idea what happened?"
Isaac huffed, shaking his head as he turned back forward. "No, no, they knew."
Stiles looked at the three like he was crazy, raising his hands slightly. "The kid was strangled with a garrote, all right?" He asked and when Lorelei nodded, Stiles nodded with her, gesturing to her with his hands. "Am I the only one recognizing the lack of werewolfitude in these murders?" He yelled and Isaac's brows raised in amusement, a smirk taking over his face.
"Oh, you think it's a coincidence they turn up and then people start dying?" Isaac asked and Stiles shrugged, shaking his head. "Well, no, but I still don't think it's them." Stiles said and Scott sighed as the two starting to bicker, turning to Lorelei who had been quiet.
"Lor? What do you think?" Scott asked, making Isaac and Stiles stop bickering, turning to her. Lorelei shook her head at all the eyes on her. "I must've not gotten the memo even though this one over here said he'd keep me and Lydia up to date." Lorelei said, pointing at Stiles accusing.
"Ethan and Aiden." Isaac said, pointing his thumb back at the twins behind him and Lorelei nodded, her eyes flickering to Aiden before turning back to Isaac as he continued. "They're alphas. They're the ones that attacked me the day before school."
Lorelei opened and closed her mouth in shock. She felt a tiny bit lied to. She wasn't too upset considering she didn't tell him she was a witch but she still felt a little upset by it.
The three boys watched her with furrowed brows. Isaac chuckled at her silence, shaking his head. "So what do you think?" Lorelei shook herself out of her thoughts, crossing her arms as she looked at Isaac. "I think you're right about how the murders started happening just as the twins showed up."
Isaac cheered, glad she was on her side as Stiles groaned, throwing his head back and to to the sky.
"But." Lorelei started and Stiles perked up, smiling as Isaacs face fell. Lorelei turned to Stiles, giving him a small smile. "Stiles is right. They're killing these kids in way people without werewolf abilities would kill people."
Isaac, still wanting someone in his side, turned to Scott. "Scott? How 'bout you?" He asked, making Stiles whip his head to him, raising his brows. Scott opened and closed his mouth in shock, not knowing who to side with before he just shrugged. "I don't know yet."
Stiles looked at him like he was crazy, shaking his head. "You don't know yet?" He yelled and Scott turned to Stiles with a scrunched face almost as if he didn't want to break the news to Stiles that part of him was agreeing with Isaac. "Well, he's got a point. Seriously, dude, human sacrifices?"
Stiles shook his head, feeling slightly betrayed over Scotts words, "Scott, your eyes turn into yellow glow sticks, okay? Hair literally grows from your cheeks and then will immediately disappear, And if I were to stab you right now, It would just magically heal. And Blondie..." Stiles said, pointing g at Lorelei, making the girl glare at the name he gave her as he continued. "Blondie over here's a witch. Has the kooky laugh and everything. Just missing the hat and the crooked nose but you're telling me that you're having trouble grasping human sacrifices?"
Scott looked at Stiles with wide eyes and a dropped jaw before he turned to Isaac, nodding his head. "That's a good point too."
Isaac clenched his jaw, shaking his head before turning back to the twins, glaring. "I don't care. They killed that kid, they killed the girl that saved me. I'm gonna kill them too." He grumbled before walking away and crack into the school.
Lorelei watched Isaac leave with squinted eyes before turning to Stiles and Scott, pointing at Isaac with her thumb. "When did he become to 'kill first, think later.'?"
...
Throughout the rest of the day, Lorelei's glued herself to Scott, wanting to know more information about Aiden being apart of the alpha pack since she was given so little earlier information. As they walked down the hallway, Lorelei pestering Scott for questions, a loud scream made them both stop.
"Isaac, just relax. Isaac. Come on!" Allison screamed from down the hall. Scott and Lorelei stopped walking, looking around the hallway for Allison before she screamed again.
"Isaac!"
Scott and Lorelei didn't hesitate running towards the direction of Allisons screams. They got to the broom closet, the schools vending machine blocking the door so no one could get out.
Before Scott could use his wolf strength to pull the vending machine out of the doors way. Lorelei raised her hand, using her powers to move it. Scott ran for the door, opening it and Allison ran out of the closet, falling right into Lorelei's arms.
Scott grabbed Isaac by his shirt, yanking him out of the room and throwing him onto the ground. Isaac roared at Scott, going to sit up but Score pressed his hand on Isaacs chest, keeping him on the ground.
"Isaac!" Scott yelled, his eyes yellow and his teeth sharp. Isaac calmed down, looking over the stressed Allison who was still hugging Lorelei.
"I'm okay. I'm fine." Allison muttered as Isaac shook his head, tears starting to pool in his eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't... I didn't mean to do that."
"I'm okay." Allison tried to reassure. Lorelei turned to Allison, silently asking if she could check on Isaac and catching the hint, Allison removed herself from Loreleis grasp. The blonde immediately ran towards Isaac, kneeling in front of him.
"I'm so sorry." Isaac whispered, his hands going to his hair. Lorelei grabbed his hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Hey, it's okay." She whispered and Isaac looked up at her, nodding his head, staring to feel a little bit better knowing Lorelei wasn't upset with him.
Lorelei moved around and sat beside him, Isaac instantly put his head on her shoulder to calm himself down. Scott chuckled, hoping to lighten the air as he looked between the three. "I guess now we know they want to do more than get you angry."
"They want to get someone hurt." Isaac grumbled. Lorelei clenched her jaw, thinking about how Aiden was trying to get her friends hurt. She looked up at Scott a determined look on her face. "So are we gonna do something?"
She felt Isaac nodded against her shoulder. "Yeah. I'm gonna get them angry. Really angry."
...
After coming up with a plan and splitting up, Scott walked towards sixth period with Lorelei, who couldn't stop complaining about her part of the plan. "I just don't think it's fair that I'm staying in class while you three get to have fun and take apart a bike." Lorelei said, crossing her arms as she raised her chin childishly.
Scott rolled his eyes, holding back a small laugh as he turned to Lorelei, raising his brows as if it'd help convince her. "Someone needs to make sure they don't leave. At least until I get there. If you can keep Aiden to stay in class until I get there, Ethan will stay too." Scott said and Lorelei whipped her head to Scott.
"You are literally prostituting me." Lorelei said, catching the attention of a few students passing the pair. Scott loudly shushed the girl, giving an awkward smile to the teens who had heard Lorelei's words before turning back to the blonde.
"What? Lorelei, I'm not–" "You're using me and my looks to keep a boy in the classroom. Prostitution. Except I'm not getting paid." Lorelei interrupted before her eyebrows shot up and Scott, instantly knowing what the girl was thinking, shook his head. "I'm not paying you." Scott shut down before grabbing Loreleis shoulders and pushing her into the classroom.
The bell rang just as Lorelei walked in, she sped to her desk next to Aiden as Ms. Blake smiled at the class from the front of the room. "Okay, everyone. I know this is the last class of the day. To be honest, I want to get out of here too."
Lorelei, feeling eyes on her, turned her head and locked eyes with Aiden. The boy watched her with a small smile and when their eyes locked, his smile widened a bit more. "Hi." He mouthed, not wanting to get in trouble for talking in class. Lorelei smiled, mouthing a "Hi" back.
When Ms. Blake's back was turned from the teens, Aiden leaned over to be closer to Lorelei. "I had a lot of fun the other night." Aiden whispered and Lorelei nodded her head as she copied what Ms. Blake wrote on the board. "Me too." She whispered back. She turned to Aiden, not knowing he was still so close to her. Their noses practically brushing from their close proximity.
Aiden and Loreleis eyes flickered to the others lips. Lorelei slowly looked up from Aidens lips to his eyes and after a few seconds, Aiden did the same. They continued to stare at each other, unconsciously leaning closer and closer to each other until Scott bursted into the classroom, making everyone jump.
Lorelei and Aiden jumped apart from each other. Lorelei shut her eyes as Scott turned to Ms. Blake, giving her a tight lipped smile. "Sorry." He said before speeding to his desk behind Lorelei and next to Ethan.
Once he sat down, he let out a fake sigh, reaching into his backpack and pulling out a big metal bike piece, placing it onto his desk. He turned to the twins and chuckled. "Looks kind of important. I have no idea what that thing does." He said and Lorelei gulped, turning back ahead. She could feel Aidens eyes on her but he lost his attention when the sound of a bike revving echoed from the hallway.
Aiden immediately shot out of his seat and ran out of the classroom. "Wait. Aiden, don't!" Ethan yelled, watching his brother go with wide eyes. When the revving stopped and loud music started to play.
Lorelei and Ethan were the next ones to shoot out of their seats, the rest of the class and Ms. Blake right behind them to hear what was happening in the hall.
Just as she was about to turn down the hall, her body rammed into Isaac's. Isaac, who was laughing, grabbed Loreleis shoulders and faced her to look down the hallway she was about to turn into.
Lorelei watched Aiden stand over his bike, trying to turn it off but Ms. Blake and the rest of the students got to him before he could. Hearing the commotion, Aidens head shot up, his eyes wide at the angry look on Ms. Blake's face.
"You have got to be kidding me. You realize this is gonna result in a suspension!" Ms. Blake yelled and Lorelei looked at her with wide eyes. She turned to Aiden and watched as he slowly turned to her. She felt Scott walk up beside her as Isaac continued to chuckle, wrapping his arm around Loreleis shoulders.
Lorelei turned to the ground and crossed her arms self consciously, feeling as if Aidens glares would burn into her.
...
"This is just one of many possibilities. He could have simply left for the day." Lorelei heard Deaton as she walked passed Mr. Harris' room to walk out of school. Lorelei stopped walking, her brows furrowing as she thought of any reasons as to why Deaton was at the school.
Quickly, she turned on her heels and walked into the classroom, her eyes falling on Deaton, Lydia and Stiles searching the class. "What are it guys doing?" Lorelei asked and Lydia's head whipped up to her from the teachers desk, looking at Lorelei with a scared look. "We have reason to believe Mr. Harris could've been taken."
"Or he just left work early." Deaton said, not liking Stiles and Lydia going so quick to believing the man could be dead. Stiles pulled his lips into a line as he looked down at Mr. Harris' desk, shaking his head before looking back up at Deaton. "Yeah, well... Not without this." Stiles said before patting Mr. Harris' grading book.
Lorelei walked towards Stiles and Lydia, looking down at the desk as Stiles poured out all of the tests. As Lorelei looked over all the graded papers, her eyebrows furrowed at some of the ways they were graded.
Noticing the look on her face, Deaton walked towards the three teens. "What?" He asked and Lorelei grabbed one of the papers and raised it so he could see. "This test is graded 'R.'" Lorelei said as she loved over the other tests. Stiles looked down at the other papers, tapping one of them. "And this one's an 'H.'"
There were only 6 tests on the desk, which confused Lorelei already. As she looked at the six grades, she realized they were spelling something out. "Hey Doc?" Lorelei called out, rearranging the tests so they spelt the word she was thinking of.
Deaton walked towards Lorelei, moving to stand beside her as she sighed, looking down at the word the tests made. "I think we're dealing with something a lot worse than we thought we were." She whispered under her breath.
Deaton sighed at the word spelled out and turned to Stiles. "Stiles, you remember I told you 'druid' is the Gaelic word for 'wise oak'?" He asked and Stiles looked down at the paper, confused to what the word on the tests spelled before he nodded. "Yeah."
"If a druid went down the wrong path, the wise oak was sometimes said to have become a dark oak. There's a Gaelic word for that as well..." Deaton explained and Lorelei sighed. "Darach."
...
After ransacking Mr. Harris' class, Stiles offered to drive Lorelei home since her dad wouldn't be able to for a few more hours.
She sat at her desk, reading through one of her family's grimoires to find out more about Darachs when she heard a small knock from her window.
Lorelei shut her book, not even knowing who was at the window yet. She turned her head to see who it was and her eyes instantly landed on Aiden who was giving her a sarcastic smile and a wave.
Lorelei rolled her eyes. She got out of her seat at her desk and walked towards the window. When she opened it, she immediately tilted her head at Aiden. "Kinda scary you know which windows mine even though you've never been inside my house. Don't you think?" Lorelei said with sarcastically squinted eyes. Aiden smirked up at her, a charming smile taking over his face.
"Tracked your scent. Can I come in?" Aiden asked and Lorelei stepped away from her window, gesturing her arm out as if to say "come in". Aiden muttered a small thank you, climbing into the room easily.
Aiden let out a low whistle as he looked around the dark room, nodding his head at the matte black painted walls. "Love the vibe." He muttered, sarcasm laced in his words as he continued to playfully nod. "Yeah... This room screams 'I'm in ballet'".
Not hearing Lorelei laugh with him, he turned to her and his smile instantly dropped at the glare on her face. Aiden sighed, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets as he sat down on the foot of the bed, facing Lorelei. "I'm guessing you found out about me?"
"Oh! Do you mean being an alpha in an alpha pack or you attacking and hospitalizing Isaac?" Lorelei asked, her eyes sarcastically squinted as she pointed at Aiden, sitting in the chair at her desk right across from him so they were face to face.
Aiden shut his eyes and dropped his head as he sighed. Just as he was about to open his mouth to explain, Lorelei beat him to it. "Did you only ask me out so you'd get information about me and my friend group? Were you using me to—" "No!" Aiden immediately interrupted, pushing himself off of Lorelei's bed so he was standing right in front of her.
Lorelei shut her mouth, gulping at Aidens outburst as he took a deep breath. Aiden shook his head at the blonde and took another step towards her. "I wasn't using you. When we first
met during that bird attack I knew who you were and what you are..." Aiden started and Loreleis eyes widened, not even thinking about the chance that he could've known she was a witch.
"But when I said yes to you showing me around town, that wasn't a part of any plan. That was just me wanting to get to know you." Aiden said, his eyes never leaving Loreleis. She watched him for a few minutes before she sighed, looking down at the ground. "So what are you doing while you're suspended?"
Aiden smiled, knowing that was probably the best thing he was getting as her accepting his apology. He said back down on her bed and let out a sarcastic sigh. "Hopefully spend time with you." He said and Lorelei snickered.
Just as she was about to shoot a comment back at him, the sound of the front door opened. "Lorelei, I'm home!" Conway Addams yelled, just coming home from work.
Lorelei shot out of her chair and grabbed Aiden by his shoulders. "You need to leave." She said and Aiden let out an airy chuckle. "I can handle your dad." He said and Lorelei gave him a "really?" look. "My dad is the most powerful witch in my coven." She said and Aiden paled, nodding his head eagerly. "Yeah, I should go."
Quickly, Aiden got off the bed and ran towards the window. When he was halfway through the window, Aiden turned to Lorelei and gave her a charming smile. "See you tomorrow?"
Lorelei smiled, holding the window frame above him. "We'll see." She said. Aiden looked at Lorelei for a few seconds before leaning towards her, and kissing her cheek. Lorelei smiled and when Aiden pulled away, he finished climbing out the window.
Lorelei watched as he climbed down her house and ran to his bike. Once he started riding away, she heard her dad walk towards her door and she quickly ran back towards her desk. Just as she sat down and opened her grimoire, Conway walked in, smiling at his daughter.
"Hey, kiddo. How was school?" He asked and Lorelei smiled, nodding her head. "It was good."
Conway nodded, tapping the door frame before pushing himself off of it to walk out. Just before he could, Lorelei straightened up and turned to the door. "Hey, Dad?"
Conway turned around, coming back to the doorway of Loreleis room, leaning in slightly. "Yep?" He asked, popping the "p" in his word.
"Have you ever come across a Darach?" Lorelei asked and Conway brows furrowed. "Not in years. Why?" He asked. Lorelei gave him a tight lipped smile, grabbing the grimoire and raising it so her dad could see. "Just reading about them." She said and Conway nodded.
"Alright. Don't stay up too late." Conway said and Lorelei smiled and nodded. "I won't." She said before noticing her dad walking away. "Love you!" She called out and almost instantly heard a "Love you too." back.
When she knew her dad was completely gone, Lorelei dropped her head, letting out a small sigh. She had no clue what was in store for her and her friends for the next few months but she was not excited.
