vi. go fish

To say Lorelei was pissed when she woke up to Isaac not in her house was an understatement.

About a week ago, Isaac came to her house late at night saying Derek had kicked him out and he needed a place to stay. Conway luckily knew Isaac pretty well since he's over a lot to hang out with Lorelei and let him take up their guest bedroom for as long as he wanted.

Though, when she woke up early in the morning to Isaac's room empty, she knew he snuck out to do something. She was upset because she could be useful. She's a witch for Christ's sake and no one in the group used that to an advantage against their enemies. Ever. It was like she didn't matter.

Lorelei pulled up a chair from the kitchen table and sat it right in front of her door. She leaned back and crossed her arms, waiting for Isaac to walk through the door.

It took about 20 minutes before the door started to unlock. Lorelei stayed in her comfortable position and watched as she door quietly and slowly opened as if Isaac didn't want to get caught.

She watched Isaac creep in and shut the door, not noticing Lorelei directly in front of him. He sighed in relief and turned around, his eyes landing on Lorelei.

Lorelei raised her hand, casting a spell in her head to make Isaac freeze in his spot. Lorelei smirked, tilting her head in a cocky manner. "You know, I don't know how you're gonna be very useful fighting an alpha pack if you don't even hear me right behind this door."

She watched Isaac's eyes move frantically around the room but she continued. "I think if I could stop you, a... pretty strong werewolf, with just a simple spell and my hand I could be really useful fighting alphas don't you think?"

Isaacs eyes flickered to her and after a few seconds of not answering, Lorelei realized he couldn't and shook her head. "Oh. Right." She muttered and dropped her hand, removing Isaac from the spell.

Isaac sighed once he was out of the spell. He unwrinkled his jacket before he turned to Lorelei and sighed. "Look, I wanted you to come." He muttered and Lorelei raised her brows. "But..."

"It's complicated. It's complicated to put you in this fight when it's against Aiden." Isaac said, not meeting Lorelei's because he knew she'd get mad.

Loreleis eyes widened in anger, looking at Isaac as if he were insane. "Oh... You've gotta be kidding me." Lorelei said, an annoyed laugh coming out with her words.

Isaac raised his hands in defense, not wanting Lorelei to possibly cast another spell on him. "You've been really close with him and Scott just wanted to make sure you wouldn't... you know go easy on him and the alphas." He said and Loreleis brows raised.

"Oh? So this was Scott's plan?" She yelled and Isaac shut his eyes. "I shouldn't have said that." He mumbled and Lorelei shrugged. "Yeah, well you did!" She yelled before she got out of her chair and walked towards Isaac.

"I don't know if Scott, or you, or whoever thought I should be by involve in fights anymore knows who you guys were thinking of when you thought of me, but I would think my pack can trust me enough to bring me into a battle not having to worry about me chickening out because a boy i hardly know is with the enemy." Lorelei said, as she slowly walked towards Isaac.

Isaac turned to her, going to apologize but froze when he saw Loreleis eyes were completely white. w and closed his mouth at Loreleis eyes, not knowing if she was aware of their color change or not.

"So what? How did this great fight I was allowed to be at go?" Lorelei sarcastically snapped. She watched as Isaac's face fell. When his eyes traveled to the ground, Lorelei started to worry, her eyes shifting back to normal unconsciously. Isaac took a deep breath before looking up at Lorelei.

"Dereks dead."

...

Lorelei sat in the very front row of the school bus. She was on a field trip for the schools track team and she was sitting all alone. She was probably being too stubborn but she didn't care. She was mad at everyone on that bus. She was mad at Isaac, Scott, Boyd and even Stiles, who wasn't even in the fight.

It was about an hour into the ride, she was listening to music with giant headphones Aiden had made fun of because of how huge they are when she felt someone fall into the seat beside her.

She turned her head and rolled her eyes at Stiles beside her. She turned off the music and took off her headphones, resting them around her neck. "Stiles." She dryly greeted, making Stiles raise a brow and groan.

"Oh, you're mad at me too. Great." He muttered. Just as he was about to ask Lorelei a favor, Coach turned around from directly in front of Lorelei with his whistle in his mouth. He blew it right in Stiles face, making him and Lorelei jump.

"Stilinski, back in your seats." The man warned and Stiles chuckled, shaking his head as he pointed at Lorelei. "I actually need to talk to Lorelei. It's really important." Stiles tried to explain but Coach gave him an annoyed and wide eyed expression.

"Does it look like I care? Go!" Coach screamed and Stiles huffed, getting out of the seat and walking towards the back of the bus with Scott.

Coach let out a happy sigh once Stiles was gone. He went to move back in his seat properly before he noticed Jared two rows behind Lorelei, his eyes concentrated on the outside. Coachs eyes widened, slowly raising his hand to point at Jared. "Jared, again, car sick? Every ti- How do you even get on the bus?"

Lorelei heard a few grunts from behind her making her turn around in her seat to watch Jared. She felt bad for the boy, she felt his sickness just from looking at how nauseous he looked.

"Look at me." Coach said and Jared gulped, slowly starting to turn his head but Coach panicked, waving his arms around crazily. "No! Don't look at me. Look at the horizon. Keep your eyes... keep your eyes on the horizon."

Lorelei reached into her bag and found an unopened water. She turned back around to Jared and made a quiet "psst" noise to get his attention. Jared slowly turned his head and saw Lorelei leaned over her seat, reaching her arm out to hand him the water.

Luckily there was no one in the row between them so Jared could easily grab the water. "Just in case it'll help." Lorelei said and Jared gave her a grateful smile, not opening the water but leaving it beside him.

When Lorelei turned back around she cleared her throat and clapped her hands. "Alright Coach, how about a game of go fish?" She asked and Coach immediately perked up, turning around in his seat and watching Lorelei as she grabbed a deck of cards from her bag eagerly.

"Ohh. I'm in." He sang as Lorelei started to shuffle the deck. He whipped his head to Lorelei, pointing a warning finger at her. "But no bets." He said and Lorelei smiled, keeping her eyes on the cards as she continued to shuffle. "No bets." She repeated happily.

Suddenly, the bus made a harsh stop. Coach went falling out of his seat and Lorelei almost lost grip of all of her cards.

She peaked into the aisle to see why the bus stopped and saw they were now in bumper to bumper traffic.

"Boyd?" She could hear Isaac say in the aisle diagonal from her. She tried to ignore it, still upset with Isaac but when she heard Boyd growl, she instant turned around and saw Boyd's eyes bright yellow and his claws out.

"Boyd?" Lorelei asked but the boy ignored her. Slowly, he started to turn his head and glare at someone, growling louder. Lorelei turned around to see who he was growling at and saw Ethan.

Lorelei turned around back to Boyd just as he was about to jump out of his seat. Lorelei gasped, quickly muttering the same spell she used on Isaac the night prior. She stuck out her hand and just like that, Boyd was frozen in his seat but this time, Lorelei made sure he could talk.

Boyd snarled as his eyes moved to Lorelei. "Let go." He growled and Lorelei sarcastically frowned, shaking her head as she shrugged.

"No. You're not gonna do anything on this bus. Got it?" She said and Boyd growled again. "Lorelei..." He warned before a hand grabbed his shoulder

Lorelei turned her head to see who grabbed him and saw Scott standing over him, looking as if he was using Boyd to help him stand.

"Don't." Scott said. Boyd stopped growling and slowly looked up at Scott who raised his eyebrows in amusement. "You got a plan?" Tell me your brilliant plan, and Lorelei can let go. What are you gonna do? Kill him, right here? And then what? What are you gonna do after that?"

"I don't care." Boyd grumbled and Scott's face fell, leaning closer to Boyd's. "Well. I do." Scott muttered. He went to stand back up straight but started to sway. "Whoa, whoa." Lorelei mumbled, shooting out of her seat to catch Scott. She looked down at his chest and noticing fresh blood.

"You're still hurt." Lorelei said as Scott tried to push himself out of Loreleis grip.

"I'm fine." He groaned, going back to his seat where Stiles was but Lorelei shook her head, reaching out to grab his shoulder. "Scott, let me heal you. Or at least put a spell to stop the bleeding." She said and Scott harshly pushed her hand away.

"I said I'm fine." He said more aggressively, trying to focus on the pain more than his attitude. Lorelei watched Scott walk back to his seat and once he was sitting safely, she sighed and sat back down into her seat.

Lorelei decided it probably wasn't the best idea to play cards during the bus ride. She grabbed all of her cards and put them back in a box when someone's phone chimed. She reached into her pocket to see if it was hers and quickly realized it wasn't.

The phone started to chime again and again before it started to become nonstop. Lorelei groaned, grabbing her headphones around her neck and putting them back over her ears. She pressed play to her music but she could still faintly hear the chiming.

Lorelei turned around in her seat and saw Danny was the one getting all the texts. Just as she was about to ask him to turn off his phone, she realized Stiles was the one texting him.

Lorelei looked around the bus to see if anyone was looking at her. When she realized everyone was busy doing something else, she leaned towards the ground and placed her hand on the floor. She muttered a small spell and quickly, Stiles' phone flew out of his hands and fell to the floor.

"What?" Stiles muttered before it quickly started to slide towards Lorelei. Once it was in arms reach, she grabbed it and shoved it in her pocket. Lorelei looked back up and saw Stiles giving her an offended look. Lorelei gave him a fake frown and shrugged before turning back to the front.

It only took a few seconds before Stiles ran down the aisle of the bus and threw himself into the seat beside Lorelei. The blonde sarcastically hummed, keeping her eyes ahead of her as she slightly turned down her music. "Oh... You're back. Yay."

"Give me back my phone."

"Nope." Lorelei immediately replied.

Stiles looked down at his phone in Loreleis back pocket. He went to reach for it but Lorelei grabbed his wrist, finally turning to him. "You reach for that phone and I'll scream." She warned, her voice so quiet the wolves in the bus with her couldn't hear her, Stiles barely could.

"Jared, I'm warning you. I'm an empathetic vomiter. You throw up, I'm gonna throw up right back on you. And it will be profoundly disgusting!" Coach screamed, getting out of his seat and walking towards Jared's, stopping Stiles and Lorelei's conversation.

"Please don't talk about throwing up. It's not good." Jared muttered and Lorelei frowned. She turned around in her seat, put her headphones around her neck again and tilted her head. "Do you need some fresh air?" She asked and Jared nodded, keeping his eyes on the window.

"I might throw up on you just to make a point, Jared." Coach said and Lorelei turned to the man, shaking her head. "I don't think that'll help but if you do can I at least get off the bus first?"

Finstock rolled his eyes, ignoring Lorelei. "Now the rest of you, don't think we're gonna miss this meet because of a slight traffic jam, a minor tornado warning, Jared. We're gonna make this thing. Nothing is gonna stop us!" He yelled as Stiles rose his hand from next to Lorelei.

Coach went to walk back to his seat but stopped at Stiles, silently groaning. "Stilinski, put your hand down." He yelled and Stiles did but not without asking his question. "You know, there's, like, a food exit about a half a mile up. I don't know if we stop and then maybe..."

"We're not gonna stop!" Coach interrupted. Stiles sighed, dropping his head slightly in annoyance. "Okay, but if we sto-" "Stilinski!" Coach yelled again before bringing his whistle up to his mouth and blowing it.

Stiels and Loreleis eyes widened at the loud whistle right in their ears. Lorelei fell back into her seat properly and put her headphones back on. "Shut it! Seriously! It's a little bus! Stop asking me questions! And go back to your seat

Stiles huffed, moving around to sit properly as he shook his head. "I hate him." He muttered. He looked at Lorelei, noticing she wasn't listening to him. Quickly, he grabbed his phone from Lorelei's back pocket and jumped out of his seat, running back to Scott.

"Stiles!" Lorelei yelled but he was already gone. Lorelei groaned. She was tired and annoyed. She just wanted to be left alone.

...

Lorelei just couldn't get a good bus ride. A few minutes after Stiles left Loreleis side, Jared couldn't hold it in any longer.

As soon as the bus stopped, Lorelei jumped out of her chair and was the first out of the bus. She plugged her nose as she walked a few feet away. She turned to ace the bus, watching all the kids run off before her eyes fell on Allisons car pulling up into the parking lot.

"What?" She whispered, walking towards the car. When Allison and Lydia walked out of the car and saw Lorelei, the blonde threw her arms in the air. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Checking on you guys." Lydia said and Allison sighed, crossing her arms. "Yeah, it's a good thing we did. Have you seen Scott?" Allison said, turning to Lorelei at her question.

Lorelei scoffed as they walked towards the bus, stuffing her hands in her back pockets. "Yeah, I saw him. He wouldn't let me near him."

When the three girls got to the bus, Stiles and Scott came out, Stiles dragging out Scott. Quickly, they all ran towards the bathrooms and luckily no one was in there. Lorelei helped Stiles sit Scott down by the sinks while Lydia locked the doors.

Once Scott was on the ground, Lorelei grabbed the bottom of his shirt and lifted it up to see his injury. Lorelei's eyes widened at three huge scratches across Scott's stomach, the blood on them black.

Lorelei let out a stressed sigh, using the end of her sleeve to wipe her forehead. "Oh, my god." She muttered before looking up at Scott's face. "Why didn't you tell me it was this bad?"

"You hurt yourself when you heal people." Scott muttered, barely conscious enough to speak.

"Just give us a second, okay?" Allison said quietly, giving Scott a reassuring smile as she grabbed Lydia and Stiles' shoulders to talk to them. She turned to Lorelei who had her back to the brunette. "Lor, you can heal him?"

"Already on it." Lorelei said, before starting to mutter a spell under her breath to stop the bleeding.

"This shouldn't be happening. I've seen him heal from worse than this." Lorelei heard Stiles said as blood slowly stopped coming out of Scott's abdomen.

"It could be psychological." Lydia said and Stiles let out a a string of mumbles before he cleared his throat. "What do you mean, like, psychosomatic? Somatoformic. Som-" "A physical illness from a psychogenic cause. It's all in his head." Lydia said and Lorelei's brows furrowed, turning around to look at the three.

"All in his head?" She asked and Stiles sighed, rubbing his chin. "Because of Derek. He's not letting himself heal 'cause Derek died." He muttered. Allison sighed, looking to Lorelei.

"So what do we do? Lorelei's already bleeding." Allison said, noticing Lorelei wiping her nose on her sleeve. Stiles moved to stand by Lorelei's side and when he saw blood dripping down her nose, he quickly pulled her away from Scott, not wanting her to pass out like she had in past fights.

"Stitch him up." Lydia said and Stiles, Lorelei and Allison all urned to Lydia as if she were crazy, Lorelei taking a little longer to turn to her since she could already feel a headache coming.

Lydia rolled her eyes at the glares from her friends. "I'm serious. Maybe all he needs to do is just believe it's healing." She said and Allison sighed. She turned to Scott, her eyes traveling to his bloody shirt before she turned back to Lydia, Stiles and Lorelei.

"He's gonna need another shirt. Where's his bag?" Allison asked and Stiles shook his head, giving her two thumbs up. "Um, I'll gonna get it. I hate needles anyway. Plus, Lorelei should get some water." He said and Allison nodded.

As Stiles and Lydia started to lead Lorelei out of the bathroom, Lorelei stopped, waving her arms slightly. She turned around to face Allison who was now crouched in front of Scott with a needle.

"What about the bus?" Lorelei asked as Allison pulled a needle out of the small emergency kit in her backpack. "What about the bus?" Allison asked, not turning around to look at Lorelei.

The blonde wiped her nose, she was still bleeding. Lydia noticed and ran into one of the stalls, grabbing a wad of toilet paper so she didn't ruin her shirt.

"It could leave." Lorelei said as Allison grabbed the thread from her bag. "Well, you just make sure it doesn't leave." Allison answered.

Lydia came back from the stall and handed Lorelei the tissue. Lorelei muttered a "thank you" to her before the red head and Stiles led her out of the bathroom.

...

Stiles say with Lorelei on the curb as she held a tissue to her nose. It was quiet between them before Stiles turned to Lorelei. He watched her for a few seconds before he turned back to look down at the curb and sighed.

"I know how it feels." Stiles started and Lorelei turned to him, a small smirk on his face. "You know how it feels to try and heal someone to the point you can't stop bleeding?" She asked and Stiles chuckled, shaking his head.

"I meant... I know how it feels when the group doesn't involve you in the fights." Stiles said and Lorelei turned to him. Stiles sighed, almost in relief before he started to fidget with his hands. "It's because I'm human. I can't heal like they do."

Lorelei sighed and shrugged, turning down to the concrete. "I can't heal either." She said, making Stiles turn to her with furrowed brows. Lorelei shook her head, a small chuckle leaving her lips. "I can't heal myself at least. Which is pretty upsetting if you think about it."

"Isaac! Isaac!" Coach Finstock screamed from the other side of the lot. Lorelei and Stiles whipped their heads in the directions of Coach's screams and saw a crowd forming around Isaac. He was punching someone.

Lorelei and Stiles didn't waste a second to get off the ground and run towards the scene.

They both pushed through the crowd and watched Isaac beat up Ethan. "Isaac! Back off! Stop!" Coach yelled but Isaac continued to punch Ethan. Lorelei felt her heartbeat in her head and her breathing started to pick up.

Out of nowhere, her vision went white and Lorelei quickly shook her head. "No. No. No. Not right now." She whispered but it was too late.

All she could see was fire.

She could faintly hear Isaac punching Ethan in the back of her head still but her main focus was on the fire. Slowly, the fighting started to get drowned out by a loud, high pitched scream.

In an instant, the fire, and the bright white light all went away.

But the screaming stayed.

Only it was Lorelei that was screaming.

"Isaac!" She yelled. Her voice sounding like a normal scream to try and get Isaac off of Ethan to everyone.

To everyone but Isaac.

Isaac heard a loud shrill in his ears that made him let go of Ethan. Like a dog hearing something so high pitched, only he could hear it. When the sound stopped, Isaac tried to catch his breath as he turned around to find where the noise was coming from.

Isaac and Ethan's eyes widened at Lorelei looking at Isaac, her eyes all white and both nostrils bleeding.

Luckily, they were the only ones across from her that could see her eyes. Lorelei took a deep breath and suddenly, her eyes were back to normal. She began to feel lightheaded and was about to turn to Stiles to tell her she was gonna go aback to the curb but Coach blew his whistle, not making Lorelei feel any better.

"The bus is ready! Everyone get on!" Coach yelled and Lorelei was the first to turn around and head for the bus. She could hear someone running up to catch up with her but she didn't stop. Once she felt a body next to her, she turned her head and saw Isaac walking with her, looking down at her with a worried look.

"You okay? Your eyes have been going all haywire since last night."

Lorelei huffed, running and hand through her hair. "Yeah, I'm fine. I've just been a little on edge recently." She said and Isaac's brows furrowed. "Why?"

Lorelei gulped. She looked around to see if anyone from the group or Ethan were around. When the coast was clear, they were right in front of the entrance of the bus. Lorelei stopped walking and looked up at Isaac.

"The Darach. The thing making these sacrifices..." Lorelei started and Isaac slowly nodded, already knowing about the Darach. Lorelei looked inside the bus before she looked up at Isaac.

"They hunt witches and kill them for their power." Lorelei said before she got on the bus and put on her headphones.
