09: a face to wake up to
"You have anything special planned today?" Felix asked with a grin.
"Nope, nothing. Why, do you have something special planned?" Seoyun asked him with the same smile.
"Well other than practice, I somehow managed a date," he said, acting nonchalant but the wide smile on his face said otherwise.
"That's great Felix! What's the name?" Seoyun asked, now more interested to know.
"Well it's not really date, I guess. We just agreed to study together before practice starts," he said, moving around her question.
"Good thing you've been studying with me so you won't look like a total idiot," she insulted with a smirk.
"Didn't know you were capable of making jokes, a win for heartless robots, like you," he retorted as he began to put his shoes on.
"Funny, truly," she said with a deadpanned expression. "Will you at tell me the name at least?" She asked, making a total 180 with her tone.
"No. Well not until I know for sure that it's a date," he said as he clutched the backpack on his shoulder.
"Text me where you're going so I know what to report to the police when they ask me where you last were," Seoyun said.
"Will do! You still coming to practice later right?" He asked, mostly to reassure their lunch for later.
"I'll be there," she smiled to him softly.
"Bye Seoyun," he waved goodbye before leaving out the door.
"Bye Felix," she said before hearing the door shut close. "Now what to do?" Seoyun asked herself. It was still very early for a Saturday morning, the fresh cup of coffee was slowly losing its steam and birds had just began to chirp. The apartment was clean and the groceries had been done last Wednesday, there was nothing to do.
Hyunjin 황
you busy?
bc i'm not and i'm v bored
Seoyunie
not busy, at all
wanna come up?
Hyunjin 황
already on my way
have you eaten?
Seoyunie
no, have you?
Then there was a knock on her door, she checked on the camera before opening. It was Hyunjin in his pajamas, his hair was still messy with his glasses that lazily hung on his face. Seoyun quickly ran her fingers through her hair to tame it.
"Took you long enough," she said sarcastically when she opened the door. "Did you sleep once you got back?"
It was another sleepless night for Seoyun, plus Hyunjin who spends it with her most of the time. He knew that she always sat on the swings during Friday nights so he sacrifices one night of no sleep just to keep her company. The hour they get back home varies depending on where they go, that night they had gone home earlier due to Hyunjin's tiring schedule and Seoyun didn't want to keep him away from his bed any longer.
"Like a baby," he said with a smile as he stepped inside and sat on their couch. "What about you?"
"Had at least an hour, but it's better than nothing," she said with an awkward laugh as she sat next to him.
"Where's Yongbok?" He asked followed with a yawn.
"He went to a study date," she quickly answered. "You should sleep more these days, I feel bad knowing that you don't get enough sleep."
"It's fine Seoyun, it was my choice to stay up anyways. Plus it's nice to see the city when it's quiet," he smiled reassuringly. No matter what he said she still felt responsible of his growing eye-bags and constant yawns.
"Did you eat breakfast yet?" Seoyun asked in a hopeful tone as she hugged a throw pillow tightly, her eyes sparkled with excitement as she stared into his.
"Not yet, have you?" He asked as he leaned back into the comfort of the couch.
"Perfect! I'll cook for us, are you okay with omelettes?" Seoyun said excitedly as she jumped up from the couch and skipped into the kitchen.
"Mhmm," he nodded as he laid himself down on his stomach to stare at her comfortably.
"This the first time I'm cooking for you, that's why I'm excited," she explained to him as she separated the egg whites with the egg yolks.
"Just know that I won't hold back on any criticism," he teased.
"You'll love it so much that you'll be speechless," she said with a smug smile. Hyunjin's eyes began to feel heavy after each second passed, slowly getting harder for him to stay awake while her soft hums lulled him to grow more tired. He shook his head and sat up from his position and slapped his cheeks lightly to help.
"Are you okay, Hyunjin?" Seoyun turned to look at him as she continued to finish her omelettes.
"Yeah, I'm good. You need any help?" He asked to make use of his visit.
"You can set up the table for the two of us," she said and pointed to the cabinets that held the plates and silverware. He carefully set up the table and handed her their plates to place the omelettes on.
"Thank you, Hyunjin," she smiled as she placed the second omelette on the plate and he took it back to the table.
"No problem," he said with a light tint of pink on his cheeks as he turned away from her.
"You eat first and let me know what you think," Seoyun said, leaning forward with anticipation and the same sparkle in her eyes. Hyunjin ate with no reaction and nodded his head after swallowing.
"There's too much salt and its undercooked," he said harshly with his arms crossed.
Seoyun's smile dropped along with her shoulders and her eyes dulled down. "You don't like it?" Her voice more quiet than usual.
"I'm kidding," he said with a smile as he leaned over the table to pinch her cheeks. "It's good Seoyun, thank you."
Seoyun puffed up her cheeks and sat up straight on the chair. "Now I don't know what to believe," she pouted, looking away from Hyunjin.
"Just eat the damn food so we can go somewhere after," he said, pointing his spoor at her with his mouth half-full.
"The next time I cook for you, I'll make sure there's nothing to critique," she said passionately and began to eat.
"Looking forward to it," he smiled sweetly as he watched her eat for a while before returning to finish his own food.
"So where are we going?" Seoyun asked while they washed the dishes after eating.
"I wanted to take Kkami to a dog cafe so he can play with other dogs," Hyunjin said. "You don't have to go if you don't want to," he said, going into a flustered state.
"Of course I'm going! Kkami loves me," Seoyun exclaimed and lightly hit Hyunjin waist with hers. Hyunjin brings Kkami to their walks or when they study from time to time.
"Go get ready then come to my place once you're done," he smiled, returning the same hit but harder.
Seoyun playfully splashed Hyunjin with water before running towards her room. The agitated shout of Hyunjin could be heard throughout the whole apartment followed by a burst of her laughter as he followed her to her room.
"Open the door so I can kill you!" He shouted behind the closed door.
"No can do, I have to get ready," she giggled on the other side.
"The bathroom is out here and I'm not leaving until I get my revenge," Hyunjin said and crossed his arms.
"Okay, I'll come out," she gave up quickly. "But if you try to tickle me, I'm telling you you will regret it," she warned.
With a spray bottle at hand ready, "I'm not going to tickle you," Hyunjin said. His initial planned ruined so he thought of another way to get revenge, good thing the spray bottle she used to water plants were near.
The door unlocks and slowly opens, the innocently smiling Seoyun behind it, "hello Hyunjin."
"This is what you get for splashing me," he sprayed to her face. "This is what you get for getting it on my glasses," sprayed again. "This is for ruining my first plan," and again. "This is for, well I'm not sure what it's for but I feel like you deserve it," he said, spraying her a few more times making her face completely drenched and the, once full, bottle almost empty.
"I deserved that," she wiped her face and dried her hands using his shirt with a smile. He sprayed her again.
"That's a face I could wake up to every morning," he laughed at her distressed, sad face.
"I hate you," she glared.
"No you don't," he said as he wiped her face for her.
"I hate you," she repeated, this time with a smile.
