20: when two people like each other

He watched her silently as the lights created a shadow on her face but her sweet smile still evident and eyes shining brightly. The ends of his lips twitched as if it wasn't sure whether to smile or not, all he did was stare blankly as she patiently waited for his answer.

"Sorry it's taking me a while to say something, but I'm not quite sure what you just said," he said with a dumb smile.

"Take your time, I know I did," she laughed at herself. "Hyunjin, I asked if you wanted to go out with me," she repeated as she grabbed hold of his hand.

"I said that you stole my words," he smiled as he stared down at the hands while she rubbed circles with her thumb.

"I did, didn't I? I'm sorry," she giggled. "Don't tell me you plan on stealing my answer too, or else we won't get anywhere with our relationship."

"Can you say you like me again?" He asked, looking up at her.

"I like you," she said, staring at him.

"I like you too," he smiled then leaned his head on her shoulder. She wrapped her hands around him and softly pet him into her embrace. "Hey, Seoyun?" He asked and she hummed in response. "Are you my girlfriend now since I like you so much?" He leaned back to look at her face.

"I think so," she said as she wiped his cheek softly then played with his hair.

"You think so? You think? You're mine now Park Seoyun," he pinched her cheek. They turned back to the waterworks with her head rested on his shoulder. They sat there in silence for a while, admiring the water like the people surrounding them.

"Hey Hyunjin, are you going to ask me why I asked you to wait?" she pulled back away from his shoulder.

"In all honesty, I'm a little curious but I'm sure you have your own reasons as to why you wouldn't want to tell me. We all have our secrets, and they have their own time to be told," he said.

"In the past, I had done some things that I'm not entirely proud of, and I've been trying really hard to fix it. I'm not sure if I've finished already but, I might need your help to do that, can I count on you for that?" She asked as she tightly held onto his hands.

"You can count on me for anything from now on, we're a team now Seoyun," he rubbed circles on the back of her hand.

She smiled softly, "we should head back," she said then stood up from her seat, her arm extended while holding his hand.

"Do we really have to go? I want to spend the night," he pulled her close to him.

"No," she smirked. "I want you to miss me, I want to show up in your dreams at night because you just can't stop thinking about me, I want to occupy your mind just as much as you do to me," she said each word perfectly slow and accurate.

"I want to kiss you," he said suddenly.

"I want you to wait for it," she let go of his hands then walked away with a smirk. "Good things come to those who wait, don't forget that Hyunjin," she looked back at him.

"You're going to drive me crazy," he took a hold of her hand again.

"Is it a good thing or a bad thing?" She asked.

"We'll find out along the way, but right now, I'll take what I can," he hugged her tightly and she nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck. "I really don't want to leave you yet," he whispered.

"Do you want to come over? I'm pretty sure Felix is with Chan tonight, I'll cook something for the both of us," she smiled. One of Hyunjin's drivers had picked them up and taken them home, although they would have preferred to walk by themselves a little longer, his mother insisted.

Hyunjin sat across the kitchen counter as he watched her work hard on their food, probably the hardest she's worked since they met. She wasn't the best cook—but she wasn't the worst either— and she wanted to show him that she can cook more than simple dishes.

"Are you sure you don't need any help?" Hyunjin asked.

"No, just sit there and relax. I've got this under control," she said as she began to slice the green onions as a garnish.

"I think the fire might be too strong, the soup is boiling too much," he pointed out. She quickly turned to turn down the heat with enough time before it was completely ruined. "'Got this under control' huh," he raised an eyebrow.

"It was a little mishap, no worries," she continued to cut the green onions.

"I'm bored from sitting," he stood up and walked behind her to wrap her in a hug as he rested his chin on her shoulder. She added the toppings to the boiling pot and turned off the heat before turning to face him as she laid her arms around his neck.

"I don't know why you're being so clingy tonight when you know that we can do this anytime you want now," she moved her hands down his chest to his waist.

"I want to make up for the lost time when I couldn't do this," he hugged her tighter.

They stood in silence for a good minute just hugging while swaying side to side gently. "You smell good," she said as she nuzzled her face into his chest. His hand moved to the top of her head to caress it gently.

"Should I say you smell good too?" He moved his hands to her face and pulled her to look up at him with his hands holding her cheeks.

"No that's weird," she giggled, "but you know what does smell good? The jjigae," she smiled then let go to check on the stew.

"Why did you leave the hug, it was so good," he complained then leaned on the countertop next to her.

"Give it a taste," she took a spoonful then fed it to him.

He smiled sweetly then said, "let me try it from your lips now." She laughed at his silliness then they ate; for the most part, they talked more than they ate. Even though they spend countless of hours with each other they still found something to talk about; Hyunjin would tell a story about his middle school days with Jisung or she would talk about her adventures in Australia with Felix, while other times they would just sit in silence while enjoying each other's company as quiet music filled the air.

After dinner ended, Seoyun cleaned up their plates while Hyunjin looked at the pictures around them. "You were really cute as a baby," he announced as he picked up a picture of her back when she was around three years old.

"I'm still cute, what are you trying to say," she replied and cringed a bit.

"My apologies, you're still cute Seoyun," he laughed. "So is it really just you and Yongbok in this big house, isn't that a little overwhelming?" He asked.

"I want to learn how to live by myself early, at some point a year ago I realized I didn't know how to do anything without my maids or guards, I was a complete idiot. I didn't know how to take care of myself at all, I'm glad Yongbok liked the idea too. The hard part was trying to convince my parents and grandparents to let us do it, it's a little hard sometimes but we get by easier than most, so that makes us feel a lot better," she said.

"You think you'd live alone in the future?" He asked.

"I mean, there's always that possibility," she said.

"I don't think you will," he said confidently.

"Yeah? What makes you say that?" She asked.

"Because I'll be with you in the future."

She grinned then said, "thank you."
