28: the l-word
The second part of their trip was about to begin, their next destination was Greece. They planned on spending New Year's at a place none of them had been beforehand. Once the plane had landed, they had headed straight to the air b&b they rented. The jet lag had finally hit their bodies and was extremely exhausted, yet no amount of exhaustion can kill a group of dancers and insomniacs— plus Jisung. Seoyun held herself up using her cousin, finding comfort next to him after not sleeping much for two days now.
"Felix, how do you still have so much energy?" Seoyun asked, her purse taken off her arm then moved to Hyunjin's arm.
"Because I can sleep and actually get some rest," he smirked then shook the arm she leaned on.
"Don't mess with me right now," she said then pinched the sides of his waist, his legs wiggled weakly when she tickled him.
"No need to be aggressive now," he let his hand fall on the side of her face, almost a slap on her.
"You want to try that again one more time, Lix?" She looked up at him, her head still resting on his shoulder.
"I don't like it when you threaten me in Korean, you know it takes me a while to process what you're saying," he pouted then lightly shook his shoulder lightly.
"Alright, alright I won't. Go sit with the others while I check us in," she pushed herself off his shoulder then took her purse back from Hyunjin before meeting up with the owner by the door of the house. "Suzy Park, we talked on the phone earlier," Seoyun said with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, Suzy. Since we've already discussed the terms of your stay, I'll be taking my leave now, have a nice stay," the owner smiled then handed her their key cards.
"Thank you, have a nice day," she replied then went back to give the boys their own keys.
"If we get married, I'll have half your money, right?" Minho asked as he received his key, she smiled and laughed at his question.
Hyunjin wrapper his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to his body protectively and said, "not possible, absolutely not possible," then put his arm forward between them and Minho.
"And why is it not possible?" Seoyun edged him just to see his protective side more. Hyunjin looked at her with wide eyes as she hit her lower lip to hold her laugh from his reaction.
"Because I have no intention of letting her go," he said with the utmost confidence. The boys laughed at his answer while she stared at him, "okay we get it, I guess I'd have to settle with someone else," Minho petted his back then shouldered his duffle bag, the other boys giggled as they left in pursuit to go to their room.
"Wow, you actually looked cool. I almost didn't recognize you," she teased then held his hand, both her hands wrapped around his gratefully. She wasn't usually the type to fall for sweet things like that, with how serious he looked she somehow felt like she could believe him, and that somehow scared her.
"If you think I was joking then you're wrong," he said then grabbed his backpack then turned to her, "I like you a lot and I wouldn't be with you if I didn't want to be with you for a long time."
"Hyunjin," she pulled his arm to move him to her then placed her free hand on his cheek. "You amaze sometimes," she said then kissed him softly.
"Thank you," he smiled then pecked her lips one more time before going inside to meet the rest of the boys. The house had a view that overlooked the rest of the city, it was late so the lights had just begun to turn on. Their rooms were split into groups chosen by sticks that had one other match: Felix and Changbin, Jisung and Minho, Hyunjin and Seungmin, while Seoyun stayed in the smallest room by herself. Tomorrow was New Year's Eve and the first day of their 3 days stay in Greece.
"Why are you already unpacking?" Jisung asked as he leaned on her doorframe.
"Because I'm a responsible person," she said as she put her clothes in her drawers.
"No, it's because you're a psychopath," he walked over to her and sat on her bed.
"But am I the one who decided to go on a trip with a psychopath? Now go think about that," she turned to him while she set her clothes inside the available drawers.
"I guess that's on me for being your friend," he laid down.
"What are you doing here anyway?" She asked, finishing up the last few things to unpack.
"Minho went to go learn some new choreography with Yongbok and Hyunjin, Seungmin already went to sleep, and Changbin is talking on the phone. You were the last option," he smirked.
"I'm the best option," she laid on the bed next to him.
"Hyunjin seems to really like you," Jisung brought up.
"Well, I sure hope he does or else it would be awkward dating him," she joked.
"No, I'm serious. Has he said it yet? You know, the 'l-word'?" He asked. She wasn't sure if he was kidding but his face made sure that he was dead serious.
"No, and I haven't said it either," she said as she pulled her legs into a hug.
"Well, do you? Do you love him?"
There was a simple answer to that hard question. She knew her feelings for Hyunjin grew deeper than just 'like' but she wasn't sure if it was 'love' yet. It was too early to tell if it was already love; they've only been in a relationship for only a few weeks, but it's been a few months since they told each other how they really felt. Was it love? No. But she knew she would eventually fall in love with him, just not then.
"No, I don't. Not yet at least, I know he's someone I can love, I feel it, but it's just too soon right now," she reasoned logically but stayed honest with her feelings, but she could never really lie to Jisung in the first place.
"I think he loves you," he said with the utmost confidence.
"He just has a lovable personality is all," she reasoned. There were still so many things he didn't know about her, so many things she wanted him to know about her. All a mix of good and bad things that he deserved to know before he could say that he loved her.
"Yeah, that's true. He's like that," Jisung didn't dare to push the question any further without risking her pulling away.
"Do you think he can though?" She asked. It the first time she had ever questioned herself, she knew her mistakes and she learned from them but that didn't mean her mistakes would just magically disappear, and that was scary to her. It scared her that he might get scared of it too. "Do you think he can love me?"
"What's there to love?" He laughed then playfully shoved her lightly.
She laughed and said, "You're right, I mean I can't even speak loud enough for people to hear my voice."
"Yeah, nobody can love you until you reach normal volume," he smiled widely. "But thank goodness Hyunjin isn't just anybody. He's obsessed with just the idea of you, and you're still not sure if he can love you. I know a good optometrist that I can recommend since you're so damn blind."
"I hate that you're my best friend," she said.
"You're lucky that I even know you're name."
