A Certain Ridiculous Idea

Bart Allen As Kid Flash->

The Book's Theme Song... For Reasons I Cannot Explain, It Just Felt Like It Fit It ->

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS

DECEMBER 18, 21:17 EST

"Kid Flash, you take Ivy, I got Gizmo!"

"If you say so, Blue B!"

A blur of red and yellow was dashing around a women with pale green skin. Poison Ivy cried out in frustration, before lashing a hand out, sending a wave of roots at the boy.

Name: Bart Allen

Alias(es): Kid Flash

Age: 14

Esper Level: 0

Abilities: Superhuman speed, molecular vibration, superhuman reflexes, extremely knowledgeable about machines.

Equipment: Stealth Tech (His costume is fitted with a button hidden on his chest that will change his suit to black and red instead of yellow and red)

Other Notes: The Flash's grandson from the future, known to use futuristic slang such as 'crash', which means awesome, 'feeling to mode', which means to be in distress or suffering, being 'moded', which means failure, and 'Crash the mode', which refers to success. He will often spoil events that he learned about in school back in 2054, that have yet to happen in present time.

Kid Flash dodged at super sonic speed, laughing as he did so. "You really think that's gonna stop me!?" He yelled.

Poison Ivy's eye twitched. She screamed in anger. Another massive root shot towards Kid Flash, who was still laughing as he easily ran around the roots.

He stopped, yawning mockingly. "Yawn!" He sighed. "Ivy, work with me here! I had ten backs of Chicken Whizzies that I need to burn off!"

Kid Flash continued to zigzag around the array of plants, before simply running up to the villain and punching her square in the jaw. Posion Ivy groaned.

"So... care to tell me why you're sneaking into the White House?" Kid Flash asked. "Because unless you were trying to wish him a Merry Christmas, I might have to send you to Belle Reve."

Poison Ivy glared at him. "Screw you, Speedy!"

Kid Flash shook his head. "No, Speedy's the other guy. Although, history books were never clear on the why-"

"KF!" A boy in a metallic blue suit snapped. "Get back on track."

"I will never talk." Ivy huffed. "You're just some kid with fast feet."

"Yeah, a kid with fast feet that kicked your butt!"

"Eh, it's an off day. Family trouble."

Kid Flash narrowed his eyes. "Fine. You don't wanna talk," He kicked her temple. "Then go to bed."

Blue Beetle walked towards Kid Flash until he was standing beside him. "Get any info?" He asked. Kid Flash shook his head.

"No, the only thing I figured out is that she's having issues with the family." He replied. "You?"

"No." Blue Beetle grumbled, kicking a rock. "Dang baby won't talk."

Name: Jaime Reyes

Alias(es): Blue Beetle

Age: 16

Esper Level: 0

Abilities: Bilingualism

Equipment: Scarab, which grants Jaime a metallic suit that gives him a number of abilities, such as construction, durability, energy blasts, flight, holo-projection, Sensors, super strength, technology interference, and transformation.

Other Notes: His Scarab often tries to converse with him, which makes Jaime seem slightly mental. According to Kid Flash, Jaime also turns evil in the future, although Jaime is doing his best to make sure that doesn't happen.

Kid Flash sighed. "Eh, oh well... let's just get back to the tower."

"Agreed." Blue Beetle said, before two wings opened from his back, and he flew off. Kid Flash sighed, flashing another glance at the villains, before his eyes widened.

"Darn it, Beetle!!" He yelled as he realized his friend had left him to take the criminals away.

Muttering profanities under his breath, the speedsters grabbed Poison Ivy and threw her across his shoulders, stumbling slightly from the weight, before grabbing Gizmo by his shirt collar. He raced off the the nearest police station, slightly slower than usual due to the extra weight, but still as fast as the first Kid Flash's top speed.

He winced as he thought of his cousin. Wally West had died six months ago. He had sacrificed his life to save the world. Just before he had disappeared in a burst of light and a scream, Wally had given his blessing for his cousin to become the next Kid Flash.

The death had shocked everybody.

Nightwing, Wally's best friend had taken off, and was still AWOL to this day.

The reason Wally wasn't as fast was because the experiment in which Wally created the original Flash's accident was considerably lower-key than Flash's.

Kid Flash, however, was just as fast as the original Flash. This was because Kid Flash was Flash's grandson from the future.

He had traveled to the past to stop Blue Beetle from turning evil and enslaving the world.

He had no way of knowing if it had worked or not, but he hoped it had.

Kid Flash skidded to a stop outside a police station, dumping Poisons Ivy and Gizmo in front of the desk. Before the secretary could even look over the desk to see them, Kid Flash was half way to Washington DC.

Dodging at hyper speed through the construction zone of the almost-finished Hall Of Justice, Kid Flash practically dived through the teleporting zeta tube.

"Kid Flash, B23."

Kid Flash yawned as he entered the floating HQ that was orbiting around Earth. He yanked his headpiece down, revealing rust colored hair and light green eyes. A women with thick blonde hair and a tiger-like uniform smiled warmly as she saw him. "Bart!" She greeted.

Name: Artemis Lian Crock

Alias(es): Tigress

Age: 21

Esper Level: 0

Abilities: Above-average human conditioning, which allows her to run above the average speed than a regular woman her age, she has superb human endurance, agility, and strength. She is also a good marksman. She has ambidexterity, impressive tracking skills, acrobatics, high intellect, multilingualism, and first aid.

Equipment: Crossbow, blowpipe, bolas, darts, explosive pellets, and smoke bombs.

Other Notes: Former of girlfriend of deceased-Wally West, infiltrated the Light for a bit, trained as an assassin before she became a hero. She was a hero for five years before she retired, however she came out of retirement after Wally died. Her code name used to be Artemis, before she changed it to Tigress, because "Artemis was Wally's partner... I need a change."

Bart smiled as well. "Hey, Tigress!" He said, returning her hug. "How was your mission?"

"Good." Tigress replied. "We couldn't find Nightwing, though... the lead was a bust."

Tigress had been on Omega Squad, who was following a rumor that Nightwing was in Taiwan. They had let him have his distance for a while, however it seemed Batman needed him back because of an emergency he refused to share with anyone besides the current Robin. Bart knew what it was, as it was in history books, but he felt like it was wrong to spoil.

"Darn." Bart sighed. Tigress raised an eyebrow.

"You know where he is, don't you." She stated, as she already knew the answer.

Bart put his hands up. "Pfft. No!"

Tigress rolled her eyes. "Whatever... but I guess it is best you don't share... don't wanna crash the time stream."

"Crash it..." Bart muttered. "If only."

Tigress seemed not to hear his comment, and if she did, she ignored it. "How was your mission?" She asked.

Bart huffed. "Jaime decided to leave me to take Ivy and Gizmo the thirty miles to the police station!" Bart had been on Beta Squad along with Blue Beetle and Wondergirl. Wondergirl had flew off to find Jinx, another villain, but Bart could see her from where he was standing, so he knew she was alright.

"Yeah, but I bet it only took, like, five minutes." Tigress pointed out.

"More like ten." Bart grumbled. "Poison Ivy's had too many hamburgers... she weighed me down"

Tigress shrugged. "Same difference."

Bart sighed. "Whatever... can we leave now? I have a Geometry test tomorrow." Bart had been staying with Tigress at her house, which she used to share with Wally. He had a choice to stay with his grandfather, but he figured that Tigress would get lonely alone in the house she used to live in with her cousin.... that, and Bart knew something from the future was going to happen, and he wanted to be there to stop it.

"Yeah." Tigress agreed. "I have to work tomorrow, anyway." Tigress had graduated early from college, as she had started taking extra classes to get her mind off of Wally. She now worked as a physical therapist.

The two walked out of the Tower through the Zeta-Tube, their designations ringing through the speakers as they stepped through.

PALO ALTO

DECEMBER 18, 21:38 PST

ending up in an abandoned phone booth a mile from their house in Palo Alto. The two turned away from each other, changing into their civilian clothes, Bart getting dressed in 0.3 seconds flat while Tigress took a bit longer.

"Come on," Tigress finally said once she was dressed in a green hoodie and jeans. She walked out of the alley, Bart behind her in a black underarmour jacket and jeans.

The pair walked in a comfortable silence to their yellow house. Bart opened the door for Tigress, who muttered a thanks as she jogged up the stairs. She smiled as she rubbed Brucely, a white pit bull, between the ears before going to her room.

Bart yawned, running to his room and quickly changing into basketball shorts and a plain blue t-shirt before going back in the kitchen, grabbing a box of dog treats from the top of the fridge. Brucely instantly stood up, his tongue lagging out. Bart threw a treat into the air, and the dog jumped up, catching it in his mouth.

Wally grabbed his phone off the table after a few more treats, grabbing an apple as he walked back to his room. Halfway through the living room, he froze at an article of Facebook.

Zombie Time!

By James Brewer

It seems the city of the future has done the impossible! Just a rumor, however it looks like Academy City Japan has created a machine to bring the dead back to life! No details have been revealed yet, however we will keep you updated!

There were loads of comments about how fake and stupid it was, and a voice in Bart's head was doing the same.

You know they don't discover this yet! His conscience, who he had named Omni one day whenever he was bored, snapped. And even then, it only works within ten seconds of death!

However, Bart was in denial. He raced to his room silently, throwing on his uniform. Packing a duffle bag full of shirts, shorts, food and his old Impulse uniform, as well as a picture of himself and Wally he had taken a few days before Wally died, he pushing the button on his chest, watching as the fabric turned black.

Shaking his head, Bart wrote Tigress a note that said he'd be back soon, and rushed out the door, putting on his goggles.

He decided to run across the country, and take a plane from there. Cursing as he realized he didn't have money, he decided to cross that bridge whenever he came to it.

In an hour, he was in Florida. Skidding to a stop, he walked casually into the nearest airport, trying to ignore the suspicious stares. He stopped short as he heard something.

"I got the bomb, Jimmy." A man whispered. "It's going down on Academy City's most powerful es-"

WHAM!!

Bart quickly punched him in the face, knocking him down right as two security guards ran up behind him.

The dark skinned one looked at the man, then back at Bart. "You take this guy out?" He asked.

Bart nodded. "Yep."

The other guard's eyes widened. "Frank, this is Flash Junior!"

"Kid Flash." Bart corrected.

Frank blinked."You're right, Bryon... hey, Kid, where are you headed to?"

"Academy City." Bart replied. "But, uh, I don't have a ticket, just a passport."

"Then take this one!" Bryon snatched the man's ticket from his pocket. "We can tell them you saved us from a terrorist attack, they'll let you through."

Bart frowned. "Won't you guys shut down the airport, though? Cause of a bomb?"

"No." Frank assured him. "We'll get you where you need to go first." He paused. "Oh, and here's 200 bucks... convert it to yen whenever you get there."

Bart shrugged. "Thanks." Any other time, he would have argued about accepting money, however he knew that he needed it.

"Boarding first class for Academy City." A voice said from the loudspeaker.

Frank shoved the first class ticket into Bart's hand. "Go, hero!"

Bart grinned. "Thank you, my good men." He darted away in a blur and a gust of wind.

Bart yawned as he handed the passport to the lady, and she stuttered in shock as she took it.

Bart marched to his seat, setting his duffle bag beside him, too tired to wonder where it was supposed to go.

He yawned as he buckled up, taking a bag of peanuts from the flight attendant, signing an autograph as he did so.

Bart yawned, before leaning his head on the window. His eyes drooped shut slowly, until he was in a dead sleep.

ACADEMY CITY, JAPAN

DECEMBER 19, 14:30 JST

Bart jogged out of the airport, having changed into black jeans and a gray shirt that said I'm Batman, I Left The Suit At Home on it.

He had his phone out, looking for hotels... it seemed there was one a mile from where he was where the workers spoke English. He paused for a minute, hesitating about running, before he remembered that this was Academy City. It was full of super powered kids.

Academy City. The majority of the population were young teenagers and children. It was roughly 1/3 the size of Tokyo. It was so technologically advanced, it was said to be 30 years ahead of the rest of the world.

To Bart, however, it all seemed retro, being from 40 years in the future and all.

Academy City was an independent city, not subjected to the Japanese government, or any government other than the city's administrator Aleister Crowley.

However, what made Academy City stand out the most was it's power development course. It used mind tricks and drugs to turn it's students into physics called espers. They could have anything from telekinesis to pyrokinesis to teleportation. Espers had rankings depending on how developed their abilities were. The Levels went from 0 to 5. Level 0's were students that were unable to develop an ability, where Level 5 espers were the most powerful espers of all, only seven in existence.

Bart made it to his hotel in five seconds flat, skidding to halt and walking in past the glass doors.

"I would like a room, please." He said. The lady at the desk nodded, typing something in on a holographic computer.

"That will be 2,400 yen please." She said, holding out her hand. Bart fished the amount from his wallet, (He'd converted the money at the airport) and handed it to her.

The lady gave Bart a plastic card. "Here's your room key." She said. "307." Bart took out it from her hand.

"Have a crashing evening!" He said cheerfully. The lady frowned in confusion.

"Er, you too..." She finally replied.

Bart dragged his things to his room, which was on the first floor. He opened the door, pausing to take in the magnificent room, before walking to the bed. Kicking the door shut, he turned on the TV, struggling for a minute to add English subtitles. He put on Ao no Exorcist. Bart yawned, rubbing his stomach. He grabbed a bag of Chicken Whizzies from his bag, and started to shove them into his mouth.

Suddenly, a loud beeping sound rang from the TV, causing Bart to yell out in shock and almost fall off the bed. He saw a man with a microphone speaking with a morbid look on his face.

"The city has went into lockdown." He said. "Nobody is to come into or leave Academy City until further notice. The reason is being withheld from the public, but rest assured the authorities have it under control."

Bart's jaw dropped.

He was stuck.
