railroad tracks crossed the small seas

Okay

So

When you think of a river, what do you picture?

Not like water running down a stream or anything like that, fast or slow, big or small, but around it

Do you imagine rocks with bushes of flowers at the sides if it growing from the nearby dirt?? Or if the bottom half of the rocks that are in the water are covered with the green stuff (forgot the name mmmmmmm-) on it that kinda makes it pretty??

Whoops-

Too detailed .3.

Imagine what you want, I don't care. XP

Wait

Not like anyone is gonna read this anyways

(At least now-)

So why am i asking???

I need a new hobby or something this is getting ssssssooooooooooo boring

But whatever, me and R2 made a dare to commit to this and i won't let that overgrown bug have the satisfaction of me quitting early

- A/W R1

Railroads are cool, fun, dangerous, perfect for two teens to do life threatening things on, since this railroad was a bit different. This one was a dulled red, with a few overgrown plants hanging from the bottom, and below that?

A rushing stream of water, seemingly fifteenth feet deep. If someone where to go in and swim if they were at a regular level they would probably be swept by the rushing currents and taken off to who knows where.

Now, if you were to jump off of the railroads above it, then you would have definitely fracture a bone or two, perhaps even a few cracked ribs along with the fact the rushing water will take you under and away.

Even with the dangers of this old abandoned railroad, they still come here almost every day after school.

Their hands held onto each others tightly as they walked on the sides of the railroad. Considering that this one was fairly thin, they were basically leaning off the edge, they would have fallen, if not for both of their tight grips on one another, keeping them balanced.

It was a dangerous thing to do, though, they didn't mind, in fact they found this as the very next level of trust fall.

Except they trust each other not to let them fall into the far rushing water to their theoretical deaths.

The taller of the two suddenly gripped her hand tighter.

“Hey.” he spoke, looking over to the smaller one, “Let's stop here.”

The smaller nodding, not really having a care if they continued or stop. Both of them pulled at each other, bringing them back to the middle of the railroad, where they were safe enough to let go.

The taller of the two sat down, letting his legs dangle over the edge of the railroad. His dark purple hair seemed to float and move along with the small breeze, along with his oversized long sleeve that he wore a white collar underneath. His three eyes stared down at the rushing stream of water, almost daring him to jump down.

The taller turned his head to the other that was with him, swinging his legs and patting the spot next to him, “Have a seat pete.” He chimed.

The other rolled her eyes but complied, plopping down next to the other, “My skirts gonna get dirty now.” the other muttered but looked to the grey sky.

“Not my fault you wear all white,” the boy said, then added, “and black.”

The other simply stuck their tongue out at the other before sighing loudly, “Today was so freaking boring.”

“Everyday is boring to you.” The boy pouted and dusted off his oversized long sleeve.

“Only at school.” The other corrected.

“Speaking of which, are you gonna come tomorrow?” The boy asked, swinging his legs again, “They're getting real strict with attendance.”

“I don't know, Astor.” the other answered with a shrug, “Not much to do there, I already know everything.”

Astor hummed a bit, “Then why don't you just get your grades to As if you know everything already?”

The girl shrugged, the small black dot on her head swirling to a question mark, signalling she didn't know why.

“Don't see the point I guess.” She said and laid back, “Anyways, you wanted to do something or..?”

“Oh yeah!” Astor said in slight excitement, remembering why he specifically wanted to bring his friend here today, “Close your eyes!”

The girl blinked, “You gonna push me off? Cause it would be great to have a heads up.”

“Come on, Wayward!” Astor said smiling, “Close em’! It's a surprise!”

Wayward huffed, and closed her eyes, honestly getting a bit curious to what her three eye’d friend was up too.

As she waited, there was the sound of a backpack being unzipped and from what she could tell books being moved aside before she heard a small ‘aha!’ come from the other.

“Alright! Keep them closed for a little while longer.” Astor hummed and turned to Wayward.

Wayward complied and kept her eyes shut, waiting for the other, “What is it anyways?” she asked.

“Hold your damn horses.” Astor huffed as he fixed the item in his hand, “There!”

Wayward raised an ‘eyebrow’, confused by what he was even doing before she felt something being placed on her head, “....?”

“Okay, open them.” Astor smiled and looked to her, excited for her reaction.

Wayward opened her eyes but only saw Astor in front of her, she carefully brought her hands to the top of here head where she felt something on it. She grabbed whatever was on it and took it off, looking to it in slight surprise.

“It's a hat.”

“No shit sherlock!” Astor snickered, “keep looking at it!”

Wayward hummed a small bit and took another look at the hat he had given her. The top part was black with one of those white beads on top, along with white thread running down to the ends of the hat. She looked to the small border of the hat where the sun covered the eyes and noticed it was a pattern of black and white sequins. Her initial reaction was to run her hand over it, seeing if it had another color to it.

Which it did, pink, green, yellow, blue, and violet.

Aurora colors.

Astor tilted his head at her, smiling a bit, “I uh, know your birthday is in two weeks but I saw that and had to get it!” Astor explained before swinging his legs again, “Do you like it?”

Wayward looked to the hat a bit longer before putting it back on her head, turning it backwards, “Yeah. I do.” she smiled at the other, “Thanks Astor.”

Astor nodded and turned back, looking down at the water, wayward doing the same. The rushing stream was pretty loud but at least it wasn't too loud to the point where they would have to yell at each other to talk.

“Wonder what would happen if we jumped in.” Astor shrugged, even tho he had no desire to really do it.

“Uh. Then we would die.” Wayward said in a ‘isn't it obvious’ tone. She leaned back a bit and looked up to the sky, seeing that a few grey clouds started to form.

“Mh.” Astor sighed and rubbed his head before jumping a bit, “Oh! Way, Are you gonna go to the halloween school dance?”

Wayward raised an eyebrow, “And waist my birthday on watered down punch, ew. No thanks.” Wayward said and crosses her arms, making Astor complain a little.

“Oh come on, I wanna go but not alone.” he pleaded, shaking the others shoulder gently.

“Take your sister with you!” Wayward suggested and flicked his head.

“Heck no! She's not even in high school.” Astor huffed.

“So, pretend she's your date or something.” Wayward laughed a bit, raising her ‘eyebrows’ at the other.

Astor pushed her shoulder and cringed, “Gross dude!”

Wayward laughed for a bit before calming down, taking out a notebook from her backpack and tossing it to Astor, “Here, I'm done with my entry.”

Astor fumbled with the notebook considering he wasn't expecting it to be thrown at him, but nonetheless he still managed to catch it, “Oh cool!” Astor said and put it in his backpack, “Then I'll do mine tomorrow.”

“Still think it's a bit dumb.” Wayward said and hugged her knees. Astor looked over to her her and made a face.

“It's for sentimental value!” He explained and swung his backpack over his shoulder.

Wayward shrugged, “Whatever.”

And so everything went silent.

The sound of rushing water was the only noise between the two as they swung their legs over the edge. Wayward sighed and leaned back, glancing at Astor. His focus was mostly towards the rushing water below them, as she figured. She stared at him for a while before he turned to look at her. Wayward quickly blinked her eyes away and turned her head to the rushing water again. She tapped the metal they were sitting on a bit before opening her mouth to speak.

“Hey I-"

A gust of wind suddenly blew past the two, making them shudder at the sudden cold. The wind also managed to rip away the hat from wayward’s head, making her gasp in surprise.

“Hey!” Wayward yelled, “Come back!”

She quickly leaned forward, reaching out to grab the gift she only had for a few minutes.

Her actions were successful, she managed to grab onto the hat before the wind ripped it away from her grasp. The action itself caused her to leaned forward, and without her hands keeping her balanced, she fell.

She didn't realize it at first but when her body leaned forward and off the rail a small scream left her.

Astor quickly realized what was happening and screamed a little too, he gripped the rail and quickly reached forward, his luck was far too great this day seeing he managed to catch the collar of her shirt.

Using whatever strength he had he managed to yank her back into the rail with him, making them both fall to their backs. He quickly wrapped his arms around the other afraid she might fall again, wayward didn't mind one bit and did the same, not wanting to risk falling to a stream of doom.

“Holy shit.” Wayward gasped as she tried to catch her breath from the shock, her grip tightening around Astor.

“Yep.” Is all Astor said as his mind was still in a fuzzy state, barely comprehending what happened.

The both laid still for a couple of more minutes before they both slowly sat up, still holding onto each other.

“Shit. I owe you a big one.” Wayward said as she tightly held onto the hat.

“Come to the dance with me and we'll call it even?” Astor asked as he looked down to the rushing water, he honestly didn't care anymore but his mind was a bit too fuzzy to think straight.

Wayward only nodded, “Yeah….Yeah okay. Let's get off of this thing, I don't feel like dying today.” She said and slowly let go of the other, turning back to her backpack. By the time she looked over, her movement managed to knock it off the edge and plunge into the rushing water.

“Oh come on!” Wayward growled and put her hat back in annoyance, she honestly really liked that backpack, it was a gift. Astor winced a bit and looked down to the water, he didn't manage to see the backpack and realize that the water probably stolen it miles away from them from now.

Astor sighed and carefully stood up, “Can't save everything I guess.”

Wayward shook her head and sighed, “Guess not.” she shrugged it off but she really did like that backpack, so she was a bit upset that the stream took it from her.

“Did you have anything important in it?” Astor asked, even tho he knew he probably couldn't do much to help replace it. He looked down to Wayward and offered her  his hand to take.

Wayward let out a disappointed sigh, “Kinda. It's replaceable though.” she answered and took his hand, thanking him for the help as she was on her feet again.

By then, the clouds overcasted them, covering the sun.

Both of them looked up to the big grey clouds once they realize the world around them darkened, holding onto each others hands tightly.

Astor suddenly shivered once a bit of cold air past them, slowly turning into a light breeze. Wayward shivered as well and looked to Astor, “I don't remember the news saying anything about rain clouds.” she commented.

Astor shrugged, he didn't really watch the news, he just cared about getting off the railroad, “Wanna get off?” Astor asked the other, “We'll probably slip if it starts raining.” Astor said in a matter of fact.

Wayward nodded, knowing he was right and started walking back to the platforms.

Astor followed after her and smiled, “Hey, You can borrow my old backpack if that helps.”

Wayward was about to disagree but glanced to the other and sighed, “Okay, Thanks.”

And so they left.

And a light shower had started.
