Two
Everyone was both shocked and surprised when they turned around, to find they were in a completely different room that they each had been in previously. And when they turned, they were all physically staring at each other. Everyone was still sitting at their own desks, but now all in a circle.
"What the heck is going on!" Ivana screamed. She stood up, pushing her chair out from behind her. It tipped over, falling to the floor with a clatter.
"Who are you?" Dragon_King said loudly.
"No what??" TheStoryNerds hollered.
"Gahh!" Arianatheoz just yelled.
Everyone else by now had also stood up. They were looking at each other, with very confused looks on their faces, but also had terror in their eyes.
"We need to settle down and and get stuff straight," Toasty said, yelling so loud everyone turned and listened.
"Fine." Stormsly mumbled.
They talked for a while. To their surprise, they found out everyone had that same message on their screen. It was everyone who was playing mafia that was transported here. How they did it, was what they didn't know. They got to know everyone's name. Arianatheoz was Ari, SophDaughterOfPosideon was Soph, Stormsly was Lynn, Toasty was Kyle, Thor_Squishy was Claude, Dragon_King was Logan, Homeless taco was Frank, TheStoryNerd was Zion, Revan was Vanessa, and Ivanaa was just Ivana. But they found Pikadash was missing. Everyone but her was accounted for.
"She wasn't transported here." Frank said.
"Why wouldn't she be?" Ari asked. "Everyone else was."
'"I don't want to be transported here, wherever this is!" Claude yelled angrily.
"I don't think we can do anything about it," Logan said simply.
"Yea, no need to be screaming your face off about it." Ivana snapped.
"Well you don't need to comment about it like that! What, do you like it here?!?" Claude lashed back at Ivana.
"No, just saying." She said, crossing her arms.
"Fighting won't help us," Vanessa said crossly. "We need to figure this out."
"Yea, better together than apart." Kyle agreed.
"The computers!" Zion said, speaking up for the first time. "Maybe we can find something."
"Yea!" Frank said excitedly.
Zion ran over to his chair, sitting down and rolling it over to his desk. He put his finger on the power button, holding it for a few seconds. The screen flickered on, giving them a surge of hope, but only for a second. It flashed back off, leaving only a dark screen. Zion sighed, running a hand over his face.
"No!" He said, scowling at the screen, banging his fist on the desk. He suddenly looked at it with a new interest. "What's that?" He said, pointing to a small jumble of white letters that appeared in the corner of the screen. They read, R29vZCBsdWNrLiBUcnkgYW5kIGZpZ3VyZSBvdXQgd2hvIGl0IGlzLCBvciBpdHMgb2ZmIHdpdGggeW91ciBoZWFkcw==
"Don't know." Claude said with a sigh of disappointment.
"So it's no use," Frank said. "Ignore it."
"Yea." Zion said slowly. He left the computer, and stood up.
"I'm thinking we should explore this place," Kyle said, pointing to a white door on the wall.
"Look! I didn't see that before!" Ari said, sprinting over to it. Everyone following, she reached it, eagerly grabbing the doorknob. She twisted, and it opened easily. She stopped, staring in. It was lit, and she found herself staring into a hallway. An entryway it seemed, complete with coat racks and a shoe mat. It opened into a room beyond, but it was pitch black, impossible to see what it was.
"Go in then," Ivana said impatiently.
"I am!" Ari said, stepping through. Her sneakers squeaked on the smooth, clean floorboards. She stepped further in, motioning for everyone to follow. They all came in behind her, cramming into the small space.
"Go further," Soph said, having just knocked her elbow against the wall.
"I don't want to," Ari said, edging to the side, veering away from the dark room ahead.
"We'll go back then." Lynn said. She turned, but came face to face with a wall. A solid wall, as if it had been there forever, with no sight of the door they had just came through. It even possessed a slight wrinkle in the paint, like it had been there for years. She slammed her fist against the wall where the door used to be in frustration.
"It's gone." She said, a cold feeling sinking in her stomach.
"How!" Zion yelled.
"I don't know, it's just not there." Claude said, running her fingers over the wall.
"We need to move," Logan said, who was in the middle of the group. "It's tight in here."
"Uh hu," Ivana said, unconvinced, staring at the blackness of the next room.
"Gosh. I'll go then," Kyle said with a sigh. He stepped forward, and to the doorframe. Holding his hands up, he kept walking. Everyone went deadly silent, listening and waiting to see what would happen. There was a thud, a muffled exclamation, then the room lit up. They could now see it was the kitchen. It was a large rectangular room. A long counter was in the middle, leaving room on its left to get behind it, and on the right, a space for a table. Between the table and the start of the bar, was a hallway. Chairs were lined all on the outside of the counter.
Behind it was another counter, lining the far left wall, coming and stopping parallel to the length of the bar. Dark oak cabinets were lined up on the back wall, with the stove and refrigerator, and the space between them and the counter was white brick. The counters had only kitchen appliances on them; coffee machine, toaster, knife slots, sandwich press, and paper towels. The sink was on the left wall, and a built in dishwasher was beside it. To the right of it all was a matching dark oak set of table and chairs. The wall behind it dawned a picture of a bright yellow cat. The opposite wall was plain, except for a white door, presumably a closet.
Kyle was standing to the wall right of the counter, hand still lingering on the light switch. "Wow." He said, gazing around.
"This is kind of pretty," Ari commented, immediately going to sit on a stool at the counter.
"Pretty cool," Vanessa said, looking down and noticed the floor shone, seemingly freshly waxed. "Who's house even is this?"
"No clue, remember?" Frank said.
"But we can't even leave, so I guess we get to stay," Vanessa said.
Everyone decided to explore. They either went behind the counter, back into the entryway, or just sat at the table. Vanessa went over to the hallway, peering into the blackness. She stepped forward, and put her arms out on either side of her, feeling the walls. She hit a light switch with her left hand, and flicked it on. Without saying anything, she walked down. First, on her right, was an open doorway leading to a large living room. Ahead on the left were three doors, and ahead of the living room on the right were two doors. She walked ahead, opening one. It was a bedroom with two beds. The next room she opened was smaller, having bunk beds. She left the doors open, and began walking back to the kitchen to tell the others. She had just stepped into the kitchen, and was going to say something when she was shocked into silence.
THE GAME WILL BEGIN NOW boomed a voice from the ceiling. It seemed to be a female's voice; slightly deep, but sharp and emotionless. It barely echoed as they registered the words.
"Gosh," Ivana said. "Who is that?" She didn't get a reply before it spoke again, in a softer tone, like an audio book narration.
Everyone had decided to gather for a few days. After their exciting day, night falls and the players make their way to bed.
But everyone just stood there, gazing at the ceiling, trying to find the location of the voice. It just seemed to be coming from everywhere, but there were no speakers. Just a plain white ceiling.
"Beds... there were rooms down the hall," Vanessa recalled, pointing.
"Ok..." Ari said. "We should probably do what the voice says."
But despite the voice, and what they thought, they all felt very tired. They trudged down the hall, and two people went into each room. Laying down, they fell asleep quickly, despite their swiftly beating hearts.
