Chapter 2
Jack's POV:
After the girls were asleep I turned to Rapunzel.
"What are we going to do?" I asked.
She looked as worried as I was, I hugged her hoping that it made her feel better.
"I don't know Jack, I'm trying to be brave, 'cause fear only helps him." She mumbled, venom in her voice when she mentioned him.
"Should we have guards watch the girls?" I asked.
"No, I think he won't be able to get in here, he's got to be too weak." She mumbled.
"Alright, well we should get some sleep." I said.
She nodded and we went to bed.
--------------------4 hours later---------------------
Suddenly I awoke to a little girl screaming followed by an evil laugh.
"Elsa!! Anna!!" Rapunzel and I yelled.
We both got up and ran to their room to find Elsa gone and Anna crying and shaking with fear.
"Sh, sh. It's OK, we'll get Elsa back." Rapunzel whispered to her, trying to calm her down as I was looking out the window to see if I could find a hint of where they'd gone. Nothing.
I'll call the Guardians tomorrow. Right now I need to follow my wife's lead and comfort our other daughter.
"Hey, sweetheart, it's OK. It's going to be fine." I said as calm as I could.
"Pwomise daddy?" Anna asked.
"I promise to try." I said, wanting to be honest.
She nodded.
"Can I sleep with you tonight?" She asked.
"Of course sweetie." Rapunzel said softly, picking her up.
We walked back to our room, both trying to stay calm so that our daughter didn't feel even more afraid.
The thought that kept playing in my mind was that I wished that I had insisted on a guard watching the girls.
--------------------6 years later---------------------
Rapunzel's POV:
It's been 6 years since Elsa's disappearance. Jack and the Guardians haven't been able to find her and that monster.
I cry sometimes, though I try to be strong for Anna and Jack. Jack is almost always out searching. It makes me sad, him not being around that much.
Today is Anna's 8th birthday, she doesn't remember her sister.
It saddens me but we had to, we went to trolls that had her memories of Elsa removed.
I feel awful, but she kept having nightmares and we didn't want Pitch to get even more powerful.
Anna was running around, trying to catch a butterfly. I watched her as she giggled and fell to the ground in a giggle fit.
Purple and pink flowers were tickling her nose. She picked a few then got up and ran to me.
"Mommy! Mommy!! These are for you." She said, smiling brightly and handing me them.
I gave her a warm smile.
"They are beautiful sweetie." I said.
She giggled and ran to go chase the butterfly again.
Jack flew down.
"Sweetheart!!" I said excitedly.
I ran up and hugged him. He hugged back.
"How did it go?" I asked.
He shook his head.
"We still haven't found anything. How's it been here?" He asked.
"Good, Anna has had an amazing time today." I replied.
"And you?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's nice to see her happy." I said. Jack nodded.
Anna ran over.
"Daddy! Daddy!! You're home!!" She yelled happily.
He picked her up.
"That's right kiddo, I'm home!! How's my little princess been?" He asked.
"Good, where have you been daddy?" Anna asked.
"Working, helping the Guardians." Jack replied.
He put her down and she ran to go play.
"It's great to see you again Jack. How long are you planning on staying?" I asked, hoping he'll stay longer this time.
"Don't know, she's still out there. I have to find her." He said.
I nodded sadly.
"Hey, it'll be OK. We'll find her. I know we will. Just give it more time." Jack said, walking up to give me a hug.
I turned away. I walked over to Anna. I heard him sigh.
