Chapter 4: Spilt from the pack
~Jacob's POV~
The voices kept flooding into my mind asking if it was true that Bella was pregnant. I tried my best to ignore it until the entire pack meets up at a lumber yard.
They circled around me with bared teeth and loud angry thoughts about the thing that grew inside Bella's stomach. I was brought out of my thoughts by a growling Sam.
"We have to protect the tribe. What they bred won't be able to control its thirst. Every human will be in danger." Sam said through the pack link.
"We're ready!" "No time to waste!" I made my way to the front. "Now?!" I asked. Surely he wasn't thinking what I thought he was thinking. Wow try saying that 5 times fast.
The next thing out of Sam's mouth is what terrified me the most. "We must destroy is before it is born!" Seth let out a whimper. "You mean kill Bella?"
"Her choice affects us all." Seriously?! A month ago you said it wasn't our fight anymore! Now your trying to tell us that her choice affects us?!
"Bella's human. Our protection applies to her." I insisted only to have Leah snarl in my face. "She's dying anyway!" I lundged for her neck. I would have done some damage if Sam hadn't stopped us.
"We have real enemies to fight tonight!" He growled as he came towards me. "Tonight?!" He inched closer and closer to me. The others bowed down to him like that had so many times before. But not me.
He bared his teeth at me in an attempt to get me to submit. For a second I found myself submitting. But then a fire came up in my stomach. One that gave me the courage to leave.
"I. Will. Not! I am the grandson of Ephraim Black! I am the grandson of a chief! I wasn't born to follow you! Or anyone else!" And with that I took off back towards the Cullens.
It didn't hit me until I got back what I had done. We could never go home now. Abby would never be able to see her brother again. I prayed she would forgive me
~Abby's POV~
I happened to look out the window and saw Jacob walking up. Wait when did he leave? I opened the door and went out to him. His face looked sad angry and worried all at the same time.
"Baby? What's wrong?" I asked him. He pulled me into one of his bear hugs. I squeaked in suprise but hugged him back. "I wish you'd tell me what's wrong baby." I said softly.
He undoes the hug and cups my cheek. "You know I love you and our son. More than anything in this world right?" He asked me. "Of course I do. And we love you too." I said.
"Jake what's going on? Your starting to scare me." I told him. I heard Paul's angry thoughts in my head demanding I meet him at the boarder. I sighed. "When I get back you had better start explaining." I said as I walked to the little creek that separates our lands.
There stood Paul. My hot headed big brother. He's not even that much older than me. Only 1 year. But that doesn't stop him from treating me like a child. He was that way when he found out about me and Jake. But we are both 18 now. Nothing he can do about it.
I go to cross but he stops me. "Don't take another step. You traitor." He snarled at me. That was when I realized what was going on.
"Your as arrogant as Sam! The child inside Bella is no different from Ephraim! Your nephew!" I snapped. "A month ago you guys didn't give a damn about her and now because she's pregnant you wanna kill her!"
A dangerous growl came from him. He was bound to phase any second. "I'm giving you one last chance. Go get Eph. And come home." I stepped back from my brother.
"No. I'm sorry Paul but I can't." I said with tears in my eyes. This only seemed to make him madder. His fists balled up beside him.
"Fine! You've chosen your lot with them! Your no longer a part of the pack! Your no longer my sister!" He yelled at the top of his lungs before disappearing into the thick woods.
I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces. The one other person besides Jake who I loved so dearly had just told me he wasn't my brother any more. That hurts deep and true.
By the time I made it back to the Cullens my face was tear stained and red as the blood that flowed through my veins. Through my blurry eyes I managed to see Edward standing on the porch.
"I'm sorry." He said. I wiped the tears from my eyes so I could get a better view of him. "Don't be. We all deserve to live the life we want. I knew a long time ago she loved you. No one stopped Jacob and I when we had Ephraim. No one should stop you both from having this child."
He smiled slightly at me. "Out of all the wolves you and Seth have been the only ones to really understand. I appreciate all that you have sacrificed for the sake of my family. I don't think I can ever repay you."
I looked into his golden eyes. "You don't need to repay anything" I insisted. But after I said that his slight smile vanished and was replaced by a more serious one.
"I've been talking with Bella about the baby. And about what will happen if she doesn't make it..." He began. "Edward don't-"
"No you need to hear me out. We've both decided this. She's telling Jacob this as we speak. If she dies I originally wanted Jake to kill me. But now I see that wouldn't be fair to my child. He or she deserves to know me. Just not as their father."
I was beyond confused. Who else would raise this child if not Edward? I suppose the Cullens but he wouldn't be there? But I never expected what he would say next.
"We want you to raise our child."
