39- A bucket full of lies

We were talking about random things when suddenly my Mom's topic came up.

"You were so scared when Aunty was going to come", Rudra commented while mimicking my actions.

"Obviously, I was. You don't know how particular she is about things. And my main concern was the fact that she was so hell bent on meeting my friends", I said remembering her constant pestering.

"It's only because of her that now you have friends. You should thank her. I don't understand why you always think negative things about her. I mean who can get angry on her, she is so cute and her cooking skills are like A1", he said praising Mom like she was a goddess.

"Yeah yeah, she is awesome and I am the one with no sense at all to even think anything bad about her", I said sarcastically.

I admit she cooks awesome food but there are negative factors as well. Rudra doesn't even know half of it or he would have run for hills to be away from her.

"Now there's no need to be sarcastic. Speaking of your Mom's yummy food, was she the one behind the start of your restaurant business. She must have taught your siblings all about cooking, right?", he asked curiously.

"Why would Mom teach them?....", I started but stopped myself before I gave out the truth.

Stupid, Idiot. He thinks Raghav and Rishi are my real brothers. He hasn't been introduced to their Mother and I brought my Mom here so obviously in his mind my Mom is their Mother too.

"No, I mean restaurant business wasn't her idea", I rectified.

"Oh! Then who did? Was this business Raghav's start up?", he asked curiously.

"No, the first restaurant was actually opened by Unc...I mean Dad. Raghav, Rishi and Trisha came together and expanded the business after he retired", I answered.

Why the hell was I making so many blunders? I was just about to say Uncle. Thank God , I realized it sooner. And why the hell is he questioning me too much?

"I know you must have been getting bored with my questions but I am getting really curious. Can I ask few more questions please? You can deny to answer if they are personal. Please, please, only a few more?", he pleaded and I had no choice other than to agree if I didn't want to come out as rude. And that was something, I was trying to avoid.

"Bring it on", I said crossing my fingers to not blurt out the secret accidentally.

"No offence but all your siblings are into restaurant business and you don't like cooking. How is that possible?", he asked.

Because I am not their real sister.

"Because all the fingers of one hand aren't the same. And just so you know it's not necessary for you to know cooking for restaurant business. Take Trisha for example, she handles accounts and other managerial activities", I explained giving him a stink eye, taking full offense.

"What? Why are you giving me that look? I said no offense", he asked frowning.

I just shrugged in response.

"Okay sorry about that and here comes my last question. I promise, I won't bother you after that", he said.

"Go on", I said sighing.

"Why was your identity hidden? I mean everyone was told it was for security reasons but then what about Trisha, she wasn't hidden from the world?", he spoke his last query.

Finally something which can be answered truthfully, well not fully still the main part would be true.

"Trisha is actually our maternal cousin. She came to live with us when she was around 15 years old. A new girl in a small town, can't exactly keep it a secret, right?",I finished laughing.

Well the answer was true that she really did came into the family later but she was cousin of the twins and not mine.

"Now if you are done, can we please clear the mess as we completed our food a long time ago", I spoke while standing up to go and wash my hands.

He nodded, getting off his seat as well.

"Thank you so much for letting me in. You don't know how much it means to me to hear you talking about your life", he said before going to the kitchen.

Don't thank me Rudra. I didn't let you in, I just fed you lies today.
