She's on the shorter side with more soft features than angular. She is very thin and frail, looking very delicate and petite. However, she doesn't shy away like most other girls do. She's pretty confident with her appearance, but not in a way where she's overcompensating.

Her one hand is completely covered in burn scars. What should be perfectly smooth skin is a collection of scar tissue, like a crinkled up ball of paper. Ayana wishes it was from something interesting, that maybe she entered a burning building and saved a baby. Instead, when she was a kid, she was boiling water to make mac and cheese. When she went to carry it over to the sink to strain the noodles, she was too weak to hold it and the pot slipped out of her hand. She went to catch it, but it resulted in her not only dousing her one hand in scalding water, but also the inside of the pan smacking said hand. It was the most excruciating pain she had ever experienced.

Ayana is healthy enough that merely walking doesn't send her into cardiac arrest. However, she could certainly be healthier. With how she looks at life, if she's happy, there's no point in stressing to meet the expectations life deems others should have.

𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕪:
In all honesty, I doubt there is a person that exists that's more indecisive than Ayana Kara. She's the type of person that plans her outfits the night before only to change five times before realizing she liked her second outfit the most. Ask her to choose a restaurant? You'd have better luck teaching a monkey sign language. Decision making isn't her strong suit either, especially if they are insignificant decisions. Ayana overthinks things like no other. Unfortunately, this doesn't make her mind-boggling intelligent either. She just worries too much, focused on possibilities that are more than just unlikely--they're impossible. However, those rare times when she finally figures out just what it is that she wants (usually this happens when it's already a little too late), Ayana is the type to stop at nothing to get what it is she desires. There is literally nothing that could stop her when she's determined. If one way doesn't work, she'll see it as a challenge; it's time to get creative. She isn't good at being told no, either. When that happens, even if the person is right, she'll do whatever it takes to prove them wrong only because she hates restrictions. Ayana doesn't like being limited, since it makes her feel confined and trapped. There's comfort in knowing that there's a whole realm of possibilities, just waiting to be uncovered . To say she has a fear of authority is to underestimate her situation entirely. It's not that she's a submissive person who will let other people walk over her. However, when it comes to people in charge, she can't help but look guilty. Not only is she a blusher, but she's also a fidgeter, and compared with her awkwardness, it is not a pretty sight. Authoritative figures make her anxious simply because they intimidate her and make her feel as though she did something wrong (even when she hadn't). And unbeknownst to her, Ayana Kara has one of those angelic faces that make people melt at her sight. She could commit cold blooded murder, and she'd be let off the hook simply because no one could kill a person and look so innocent, so sweet. Fortunately, all of these faults are balanced by her compassionate, gentle nature. Ayana truly cares about people, and her empathy makes her a prime target for manipulation. She's the type of person that could be watching a horror movie and feel empathy for the killer or the ghost (Don't get her started on The Ring, she literally balled her eyes out). Moreover, Ayana Kara is a very charismatic, affable person. Her charm makes people enjoy her company because she's so easy to be around. She's not high-maintenance, and more importantly, she's someone who knows how to take a joke.
𝕝𝕚𝕜𝕖𝕤:
Ayana loves rom-coms more than anything in the whole wide world. Her favorite thing to do is curl up on the couch, hidden from the world in an outrageous amount of blankets, and laugh and cry to a ridiculously cheesy plot. Don't get her started on the romance novels she reads about unrealistic men falling for dorky women. It honestly is garbage, the books she reads. They'd make any English lover cry at the horrendous nature of them. For as much of an extroverted, outgoing individual she is, Ayana NEEDS her alone time. It's not even a question. Constantly being around people is great and all, but she needs time to reflect and peace in order to function as a proper human being.
𝕕𝕚𝕤𝕝𝕚𝕜𝕖𝕤:
The young woman hates it when people talk down to her more than anything. If you want to see her stew in a vehement rage, treat her like she's too innocent to understand life like she's some kind of child society must shield from the cruelties of the world. Yes, she tends to be on the more ignorant, innocent side of things, but that doesn't mean she needs to be protected. She despises when people treat her as a child, and chances are, it'll be hard for a person to end up in her good graces after doing so. Ayana also deeply hates when she's wrong, which causes her to do the most inconvenient things in order to avoid asking for help. Pride is something that gets to her probably more than is healthy.
𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕘𝕥𝕙𝕤:
Ayana is a very warm, hospital person. She can make even the most awkward people feel comfortable, simply because she's so easy to be around. She is good at understanding the importance of timing and knows just what to say or do in any given situation (for the most part). Granted, if it's a strenuous one, it really is a flip of a coin to determine whether she'll stay levelheaded or if she'll panic.
𝕨𝕖𝕒𝕜𝕟𝕖𝕤𝕤𝕖𝕤:
She can't cook to save her life. maybe it's the fear, considering the nasty scar she got when she was nine, but everything she makes is either undercooked or burnt. There is, unfortunately, no in between. Her indecisiveness and pride often get in the way of her relationships with people, which always leads to her doing something a little too late. For instance, if someone wants to date her, she is extremely oblivious. Of course, if it was with a friend, she can tell when someone's flirting a mile away. However, if it's someone flirting with her, you might as well just call her clueless and be done for the day.
𝕗𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤:
This woman is a hypochondriac. At the first signs of something abnormal, you better bet that she's already searching up a bajillion different diseases and diagnosing herself or others with something that is improbable. Ayana is also terrified of not being able to have children. It's not that she sees herself as a housewife, but if there was one thing she was sure about, it was about being mom. Ever since she was a kid, she's wanted to be one and has known that that's the one thing she's meant to be. So the idea that she might be barren terrifies her.
𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕤:
Her unwavering kindness and openness to other people. If someone betrayed her in the past but needed her help for something extremely important, she'd probably lend a hand. She's bad at holding people accountable, but that's simply because she's an extremely forgiving person.
𝕗𝕝𝕒𝕨𝕤:
Ayana can't hold people accountable, and she often puts too much energy into people who don't deserve her thoughts or consideration.
𝕢𝕦𝕚𝕣𝕜𝕤:
She's a nervous giggler, especially in strenuous situations. And she typically ends up in laughing fits at the worse times. She can't control it. She just giggles cause she knows if she doesn't laugh, she'll erupt into tears, and in all honesty, she doesn't know which is worse.
Ayana is also a terrible driver, like beyond bad. She's so horrible that not only is it a wonder she even got her license in the first place, but people honestly should be forced to sign a waver before entering a vehicle with her. Because of this, more often than not, Ayana will ride her bike or walk to places. If it is far away, and carpooling isn't an option, she will uber. Really, anything to keep her off the streets. (She has a bit of a lead foot)
𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕝 𝕙𝕖𝕒𝕝𝕥𝕙:
Nothing too abnormal. Of course she has bouts of anxious tendencies, but nothing significant or severe enough to be labeled as any sort of illness.

𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪:
Growing up, Ayana's life wasn't perfect by any means, but her family was happy for the most part. They lived in more poverty stricken towns, since her parents didn't have much to their name. They immigrated to the area from Japan in the hopes that there might be more, better paying job prospects. They also wanted to avoid having their children grow up the way they did. Don't get them wrong, they love their culture and Japan, but some of the changes happening there made them uncertain if it was the environment they wanted to raise their children in. So, they moved, and they opened up a convenience store that sold random home necessities. It didn't make as much as they wanted, but it was successful enough that they could make at least some profit off of it. Her father worked the store while her mother worked at a nail salon. The combined wages helped make ends meet. They never had much, but they always had each other, and that seemed to be always enough for Ayana Kara and her sister. Thicker than thieves, Ayana and her younger sister, Kimiko, did everything together. They were close than best friends, having a bond that even the largest arguments couldn't destroy. Nothing momentous really happened, but the Mac and Cheese Accident happened because when her parents weren't home. Both had to work, and they couldn't afford a sitter, so they girls were pretty much left to their own devices (and you can see how that turned out). All throughout school, Ayana was part of the top tier. Now she wasn't the brightest kid, destined to be valedictorian, but she was known as one of the 'smart' kids.

"I swear I've done nothing wrong, officer. I mean--I errrr--that makes me sound guilty. I mean, not that I'm guilty, of anything, you see, but that's also what a guilty person would say if they were trying to not make you think that they're guilty, but I'm being honest when I say I'm telling the truth. Except that's what a liar would say--listen, have a good rest of your day, that sounded sarcastic. I'm so sorry. Umm--I'm going to go before I make things even worse, Officer."
"I just want to fall in love with someone."
"I'm an awkward, bumbling idiot. So where's my John Green romance?
Other:
She's a Virgin, not that it matters. Ayana doesn't have a lot of experience with men, and she's kind of been saving herself for the right person. Not necessarily for marriage, but she just hasn't felt the connection to someone they describe in the movies.
Scenarios:
ONE—You heard about this great coffee shop near you're college/work. One early morning, you decided to try it out, figuring the day was as good as any other to finally treat yourself to coffee/tea/whatever made by someone other than yourself. Entering the shop, a tiny bell above the door rings as you scan the quaint spot before you. The inside has combined vintage with modern, more whimsical accents. It's cozy, radiating boho chic vibes more than anything else. You see a young employee working swiftly behind the counter, demonstrating an air of mastery, as though she had done the same very thing a million times before. "Here's your almond milk, Caramel macchiato. Enjoy," she grinned brightly, handing the person before you their cup. "Welcome to the Busy Bean! What can I get for you today?"
You......?
TWO—You have been close friends with Ayana for a while now. Ever since you both met in ____ class in college, you hit it off immediately. There was a connection between the two of you that neither could pinpoint, but it was different than anything either of you had experienced. It's Ayana's birthday, and her friends 'coincidentally' dragged her out for some drinks. You of course were invited, considering the fact that you both were in the same social circles. Whether your OC has a crush on her or not is up to you, but you start to notice that something seems a bit off in regards to Ayana. She's not exactly a shy person, but she's not really forward either. However, you notice that while she's dancing, clearly intoxicated might you add, she's captivated the attention of multiple people in the room. A man ends up approaching her and ends up dancing with her. Well, that is if you could call it dancing if you can catch the drift. Once the song ends, you watch her grab the man's hand, dragging him over to you and her other friends. Stumbling, a broad, breathless smile is on her face as she sways on her feet. Her one arm is looped around the tall man's bicep, other hand placed against his chest. "You guys have to meet Darren," she slurred, a giggle escaping her lips as she swayed slightly. "He told me he has a special present for me," she giggled again, a mischievous expression on her face as she bites her lip, trying to suppress her smile. The guy, apparently named Darren, rolled his eyes lightly, though you noticed that he had his arm wrapped loosely around her waist. Granted, you knew it wasn't your job to babysit, but this was a complete stranger who appeared to be enjoying their proximity too much.
You....?
THREE—You make it up!
