stay with me

Prompts 78 and 70 requested by MialovesLuke !! This is more of an imagine than a blurb, but I got inspired and just decided to roll with it😌

💭

It had been almost 3 months since Joshua last saw you. Last time he was in Utah filming season one you stayed with him in his apartment, but now, with school and work you were forced to stay in your hometown while Josh began filming season two. Now, you were finally coming to visit!

He'd been dying to see you since you revealed to him over FaceTime that with your break from school you would have to time to go see him for a week.

When Joshua told his cast mates that you'd be returning, everyone on set went crazy. They hadn't seen you since they wrapped season one, so it was definitely an understatement to say that they were all excited to finally reunite with you after so long.

It warmed Joshua's heart to see that they had become your close friends now too. However, he didn't find it as wholesome and heartwarming when practically the entire cast begged him to bring them along to pick you up from the airport.

You picked up your luggages from baggage claim with exhausted eyes. Plane rides were never fun. You could never sleep peacefully, your face would get all dry, and there was always someone annoying in front or behind your seat. You were tired, but getting to see Joshua and be in his arms again after so long made it all worth it.

Instead of waiting in the parking section where there were never any paparazzi like Joshua wanted to, the cast insisted on waiting inside the airport to greet you as soon as you finished picking up your bags.

Just as you entered the front of the airport, you heard the shouts from your friends. They dashed in a stampede to get to you, almost tackling you to the ground as they gave you a giant group hug.

Joshua huffed grumpily and walked over to the huddle surrounding you, picking up your luggages that had fallen during all the chaos. He definitely wasn't happy about being the last one to get to hug you. Nonetheless, he didn't want to ruin everyone's joy and excitement, so he decided to stand to the side while everyone squealed and bombarded you, his girlfriend, with love.

Once—almost—everyone said their hellos to you, the huddle dispersed and you could finally see Joshua. After making eye contact with those beautiful caramel brown eyes, you rushed over into his arms. It looked like a scene out of a cliché romcom; your arms wrapped around his neck as he spun you around happily.

A couple fans had spotted the group and took notice of your adorable interaction, tempting them to pull out their phones to snap a couple pictures of the moment. Joshua couldn't care less; he was finally holding you, his girl, after months of not seeing you in person.

He set you down gently and leaned in, pressing his lips to yours. Your arms remained wrapped around his neck as you melted into the kiss, while your friends watched the wholesome moment from where they were standing, awing—and gagging at the happy couple. Before Joshua's hands could wander lower, he was rudely interrupted by his friends.

"We're at an airport, lovebirds, keep it PG." Matt called out, earning some slaps from the females who were cheering you on. You giggled and pulled away from the kiss to give everyone a hug individually.

Joshua rolled his eyes while Larry approached him after receiving his hug. As you told everyone how much you missed them, Joshua loaded your bags into the rental they struggled to find at the last minute. It was an SUV big enough to fit the cast, Joshua, and your luggage in it.

Eventually everyone piled into the car and Joshua began to drive a bit grumpily on the way back to his apartment. He'd been hoping that you'd sit next to him at the front, but after a bit of convincing from Olivia and Frankie, you were sandwiched in the back of the SUV talking about who knows what. Olivia and Frankie obviously wouldn't have minded if you told them you wanted to sit with your boyfriend, but being the kind—people pleasing—soul you were, you couldn't let them down.

Once you all arrived to Joshua's apartment complex, Matt and Larry helped you bring your luggages up, while everyone bombarded you with random questions about school and your hometown. Joshua managed to maneuver his way in between Dara and Sofia to walk with you and hold your hand, but he couldn't help but feel a little irritated by everyone's behavior. The deal they made before picking you up was that they'd get to come along with him, as long as they gave you guys your space once you got back home. But by the looks of it, they weren't planning to leave anytime soon.

Matt and Larry left your luggages in Joshua's bedroom and had made their way to the kitchen to raid his fridge immediately after, Sofia left to the bathroom, Olivia, Julia, and Dara scurried to the section of his living room where he kept the card games, and Joe and Frankie pulled you away from Joshua's grip and led you to his couch to watch TV and catch up.

Joshua felt out of place in his own home. He trudged into the kitchen to see Matt taking out the carton of eggs and whatever vegetables Joshua had left to make breakfast for everyone while Larry sat on the counter munching on a couple of crackers.

He walked into the living room to see you sitting on the floor with your elbows resting in front of you on his coffee table as you spoke to Olivia, Sofia, and Frankie who sat on the other sides of the table.

He sat on the sofa behind you and leaned down to press a couple chaste kisses to your neck, letting you know of his presence. You tilted your head up, giving him the opportunity to kiss your forehead.

"Hey, gorgeous, whatcha doin'?" He inquired curiously. You shrugged your shoulders while your eyes returned to the table, where a set of cards had been placed in front of you. A frown sat upon his face at the lack of response from you. He watched as you sorted through your hand and started to play.

With a pout, he moved himself onto the floor and sat beside you. He leaned in and nudged you a couple times with his head like a horse. He didn't receive a reaction from you, but it really riled up Olivia and the others, who were extremely invested in whatever game they were playing.

"Joshua Taylor Bassett if you don't leave your girlfriend alone and let us play Go Fish, I swear to god I will—"

"Olivia it's your turn." Frankie stressed as he slammed his hand down on the wooden coffee table. Joshua widened his eyes comically at his friend's interrupted threat. You giggled and rested your head on his shoulder as you waited patiently for your turn. After a while Joshua gave up and stood up from his spot to make sure no one was burning down his kitchen.

The tag alongs—as Joshua started calling them around noon—didn't leave until night time, after they completely raided Joshua's kitchen and stole a whole day with you away from him. He didn't even get to sit with you during breakfast. By the time he made his way back to his dining room space, Larry and Julia had already claimed the seats beside you. Olivia made a mad dash to not-so-gracefully slide into the chair in front of you only seconds before Joshua could, rightfully winning the second best spot at the table.

Joshua had been making suggestive comments and sending hints at his friends that it was time for them to leave, but to no avail. They stayed until it got dark out, and now you were so worn out that you could barely keep an eye open. As you snored peacefully on his sofa, he cleaned up after everyone's collaborative mess, reminding himself that he still had the rest of the week to spend together.

The next morning, Joshua was rudely awoken by your alarm. He was confused at first, you never set alarms. He knew that they made your body jolt and cramp suddenly at the blaring noise, plus, you claimed they didn't really work anyway. With his eyes still closed, he felt you stretch your arm out to turn it off; but instead of returning to bed and falling back asleep again, you attempted to wriggle out of his grip carefully as to not wake him up.

Your tactic failed, obviously. He almost immediately tightened his grip around your waist. He pulled you closer to his chest—if that was possible—and let out a muffled groan against your skin.

"Y/N/N.. stop."

You giggled and shifted to face him once more. You basked in the satisfied, approving expressions he made when you ran your hands through his unruly curls that were falling all around his face. You brushed them away from his face and placed a light, feathery kiss onto his forehead before speaking up again.

"Josh, I have to get up. The girls wanna get IHOP and do our nails and then we're going ice skating with everyone." Joshua groaned again and finally opened his eyes, grimacing at the harsh sunlight peeking into the room through the window.

First of all, he was a little offended that his best friends decided to invite you to hang out without him. Secondly, he couldn't believe that you were so cool with leaving him when you just got home.

He let his feelings of anger and envy—towards his soon to be ex best friends—simmer down and bubble at the pit of his stomach.

"I don't care if you already have plans, tell your friends that you're staying with me." He pouted with his bottom lip jutted out. Instead of giving in and melting into his embrace like he assumed you would, you rolled your eyes. The audacity. "Those backstabbing traitors can wait an hour or two—at least."

"Joshua, they're your friends too. They didn't just invite me for ice skating, you're coming too. So let's start getting ready." You felt like you were a parent trying to convince their kid to wake up for school, and Joshua couldn't blame you, even he could admit he was kind of acting like a stubborn toddler at the moment.

"I just really want to cuddle you right now." He mumbled and pressed his head further into his pillow, all while keeping his arm circled around you to prevent you from getting up. "Let's just stay in bed for a few more minutes, and then we can get ready, promise."

You shifted in his grip to get more comfortable and sighed, finally giving in. A couple minutes of extra sleep couldn't hurt. Joshua's body relaxed and his eyes fluttered closed again, seemingly satisfied and pleased that he was able to convince you. All it took was your hands running through his hair to get him to fall back asleep.

As you admired Joshua's features—the way his pretty eyelashes kissed his cheeks and his golden freckles illuminated by the morning sunlight, you came to the conclusion that your boyfriend was right; your friends could wait for a couple more hours.
