Frozen Fever
You felt like death. There was no other way to explain it. Your head hurt, you were coughing; but yet you refused to stay home from school.
The bell rang, making your head pound even more. Ignoring your head, you collected your books and headed out. "Y/N? Can I talk to you for a moment please?" your teacher asked (let's call her Mrs. Newman because that is the teacher's name that teaches the class I thought of this in). "Ok," you said, shakily heading over to Mrs. Newman. She was standing by her desk, looking concerned. "Are you okay, Y/N? You don't look very good," she said, gently lifting your head up to meet her eyes. "Yeah, I'm-" you started coughing, preventing you from speaking. Forcing your coughs to stop, you continued. "I'm fine, really."
"Are you sure?" Mrs. Newman asked, skeptical. Suddenly, you felt very dizzy. "Yeah," you mumbled, and made to leave. However, your body had another idea. You fell into your favorite teacher, and she caught you, looking even more concerned. Your breathing was labored and ragged, you felt hot and sickly. I should've stayed home today, you thought miserably. "Y/N, we should really get you to the clini-" "No! No, I'm fine." You stayed where you were, leaning against Mrs. Newman, for a couple minutes, trying to keep yourself from blacking out. Eventually, you gave up, and let your consciousness fade.
The last thing you remembered before you went under were shouts of your name, frantically trying to see what was wrong. Then, everything went black.
Dan's POV (and you thought I would go an entire chapter without having my two favorite dorks featured in it. Well no that's not how I work. Get used to it)
The phone rang, interrupting my interneting. "I'll get it," Phil said, removing his laptop off of his lap. He went and picked up the phone. "Hello. - Yes, this is Phil Lester. - Oh, no. What's wrong with Y/N?" he said, pausing occasionally so the other person could speak. At the mention of Y/N, I sat at attention, questions flying through my mind. Was she alright? What happened? Who's calling? Why? I rushed to watch Phil on the phone.
When I entered the room, Phil was talking on the phone still, looking incredibly worried. I subconsciously glanced at a door, a door leading to an empty bedroom. "What's going on?" I mouthed at Phil. "Something's wrong with Y/N," he replied. "Wait, what?" he said out loud into the phone. "She's at the hospital?" A pause. "Yes, we're coming," Phil hang up the phone and whirled to me. "Something's wrong with Y/N, we need to go to the hospital," he spoke really fast, grabbing all the necessary things he would need. I was already ready. We whisked off to the hospital.
When we arrived, I spoke to the person at the desk, "We're here to see Y/N Lester." The woman winked at me as she searched. "Ok, she's in room 211. Hey, are you free tonight?" she answered finally. "Do you really think I have time to make plans?" I hissed over my shoulder as I flew up the stairs.
Phil led as we made our way to Y/N's room. "Here it is. Room 211," Phil said. We entered. My heart broke as I saw Y/N laying on the bed, looking frail and weak. Her eyes were closed, and the only sound was her quiet breathing. "Oh Y/N," I breathed and rushed to her side. Phil's blue eyes flickered between Y/N and the doctor. "What's wrong with her?" he asked, the edges of his voice laced with anxiety that he was clearly trying to hide. "We don't know, but it doesn't appear life-threatening," the doctor replied, his eyes on me as I held Y/N's small hand.
"Dan? Phil?" a weak voice spoke. I turned around to face Y/N. She looked so weak, so frail. "Are you okay?" I asked her gently. She nodded, still looking very confused. "What happened?" I glanced at Phil. "You passed out at school," Phil explained. Y/N nodded.
