~History~
Willow was born without a proper voice.
The only thing he is able to do was make small noises at the most.
His older brother, Papyrus, was a charming skeleton.
The two lived together in Snowdin, Papyrus charmed by the Royal Guard and Willow... Mostly Staying home.
They both knew that Willow was capable of doing many things, but since he has his 'problem', Papyrus always insists on him staying near the town or inside the house. The last thing the taller wishes to happen is Willow badly damaging himself and suffering alone with no help (since he can't call for it).
A little mad at his brother's over-protective concern, Willow decided to secretly sneak out to Waterfall and train.
~
After many weeks of this continuous cycle (Papyrus going to do his 'royal guard/human capturing' duties, Willow sneaks out and trains, the two come back to the house in time, and then rest/eat/whatever they need to do), Papyrus is finally close to becoming a royal guard.
Undyne had been training him hard for the past several days, working Papyrus to the bone (AHAHAHAHAHA).
It was when Papyrus was heading home when it happened.
As the skeleton was heading home, he heard a cry in a nearby cave. Confident in his skills, he decided to investigate himself. As he was walking into the cave, he imagined himself saving a small monster and impressing Undyne, ensuring his entry to his dream job.
When he finally came to the end, a single echo flower was resting peacefully there.
'-AAAAH! Hey! The cave really DOES echo!'
Papyrus, completely surprised, accidentally backs up to one of the extremely cracked walls. The breaks quickly began to spread, chunks of rock falling from the ceiling.
Finally grasping the situation, he made a run for the exit.
While this was happening, Willow was training. He wanted to show his brother that he wasn't weak, that he could protect himself if needed. When Willow was about to summon another attack, a small rumble shook the ground underneath Willow's feet. It wasn't noticeable to a normal monster, but Willow felt it. Then, a painful yell rang through the area.
Willow bolted towards the sound, his emotions jumbling up into a big ball of worry and fear. Once he arrived, he saw his brother trapped under a large pile of boulders, his HP quickly plummeting.
'Brother! Please, get someone!' Papyrus pleaded.
The shorter wasted no time, running off to the nearest place he could find.
Luckily, Gerson's shop was nearby. Once he arrived there, he quickly used his hands to sign to the monster.
However, not many monsters understood sign language at the time, causing the tortoise monster to stare at him in confusion.
Frustrated, Willow simply took the other's hand and ran, nearly dragging the man the whole way.
...
But they were too late.
All that was left of his brother was his brilliant blue scarf and his scattered dust.
~
Wracked by grief, Willow sat next to the cave, wearing his brother's scarf. He never left. He didn't move. Willow stayed next to the cave, wallowing in his own guilt. If only he wasn't born this way. If only he could speak.
Many monsters pass by him, all very concerned of his well being. Undyne even tried to move him, but was harshly blocked by a wall of bones.
No one spoke to him. They all wanted to leave him alone. Give him time.
Word went around about Papyrus' passing. It was taken with bitterness, but the people soon got over it and moved on.
All but Willow.
He was like a statue, sitting completely still and his body seeming lifeless. He could have been made of stone.
But he refused.
Not after what happened.
Not after the stones killing his loved one.
~
Willow continued to sit there as years passed.
The local plants (Echo flowers) began to grow around Willow, using him as a sort of post for growth. They spread throughout his body wildly, and soon, Willow became a sitting bed of echo flowers.
One of the first and biggest echo flowers grew out of his left eye-socket, which was already dead and gone years ago. It glew the brightest out of the small garden.
Later, Willow realized that the plant had connected itself with his soul. The flower was exchanging magic with his being, acting as a sort of life line.
If their bond were to be broken, devastating effects may occur.
So, Willow, for the first time in a long (LONG LONG LONG) time, stood up. His legs wobbled and his knees ached, but he stood. It took a while for him to get used to it, but he stood.
Willow had something to do.
Keep this flower alive.
Keep this flower alive...
don't make the same mistake you did.
Don't fail it as you did with him.
~
Some monsters didn't even recognize him. He had been secluded and left alone for so long that he seemed foreign. However, most did remember him. Most were shocked.
Willow began to live again. He started to eat...sleep...and...breathe.
In order for the flower to be fed...HE had to be fed.
In order for the flower to breathe...HE had to breathe.
In order for the flower to live...HE had to live.
They now shared a soul.
(Later on, Willow was able to 'speak'. By using the flower, he used certain magic flows and calculations to make the plant work as a make-shift 'voice-box'. He adjusted it to a tone of his liking and started communicating with it. Though, at occasional times, he also tends to sign his words as he speaks them, being used to that for most of his life.)
(He lingers around Waterfall as often as possible because it is the most sustainable place to take care of his BUDdy (HEHEHEHEHE))
(Also, he enrolled as a sentry in memory of his brother, but always took guidance from Papyrus' ideals (Pacifism and Optimism))
~IN GAME RESPONSES~
-Pacifist-
- Will be very calm and polite
- Will Most Likely Escort You
- More open and friendly
- Will become more 'emotional'
-Neutral-
-Remain the same (Very calm and quiet. Barely speaks and tries his best not to interact with too many people)
- Have no opinion on humans.
- Mostly tries to hide himself away and become more secluded.
-Genocide-
-Will follow Papyrus' ideals and Basically be the new papyrus (But more calm and less hyper)
If Friendship/Mercy is accepted :
-Try hard to show you a better way
- Try to understand your issues or guilts
- Protect you against the royal guard (since you're done with killing)
If Friendship/Merct is Denied and You Attack :
-Willow dies. That's it.
(A little visual for you >:3)
(MWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH)
-EASTER EGGS!-
-If you do a neutral run (Ony killing Willow, then resetting) and 3 incomplete genocides (Doing full genocide until before you face the king (then reset)), Willow will progressively get worse and worse until the point where he meets you in the judgement hall to give you a BAD TIME (After killing him the first time, he'll start to avoid you. You cannot encounter him again unless you do 3 incomplete genocides.)
Bad Time includes:
-Sans' usual attacks
-Thorny vines erupting from the ground to kill you
-Flower seeds shooting at you like bullets (same effectiveness as real bullets)
-Willow's Main Echo Flower mimicking the voices of monsters you killed (He was able to collect the sounds from echo flowers planted in every area)
(Also, Willow cannot teleport and is unaware of AUs (Alternate Universes))
SO THAT IS WILLOW!
I hope I was able to execute his character as well as I hoped to!
X3 That is it for now!
Bye! :D
