Part 6

The days followed had been celebration. The people in Chakranadu had never seen a happy day during the end of their each life cycle. There were music and dance all around.

"Thank you. For everything." Vasu's voice came from behind, startled her.

"This achievement will give me a peace of mind too. At least I won't be guilty of not helping you. So, it's a win-win for both of us."

According to Vasu, that very day was going to be the last day for all of them including Kamali. As the history goes, Vasu was to die on the day in a fight with the invaders. And his first death marked his incapability to bring peace to the land and thus he lives for thirty-two years. Appears as an infant without parents with only maidens to take care of him, the cycle continues.

Kamali had even mentioned he was perhaps names Chakra for his repeated life cycle. He couldn't agree more. Vasu would have lived happy in his never ending cycle had he not remember his past cycle. The remembrance was what had been killing him all along the may centuries.

Today he stand at the balcony of his palace, overlooking his happy people brought contentment in him. All thanks to Kamali. He even gifted her a beautiful ring made perfect for her size.

Kamali looked up at him with a vibrant smile. "You have been a wonderful king. If by chance I return to my world and time, I'll write about what a great king you have been."

"Thank you for that."

"You have been a good friend too, you know. Just that the way I came in and your welcome was pretty scary, otherwise it's been a good stay." She claimed recalling her seven years of travel in the past.

"Vasu, you deserve a hug. Come here," she gestured him to turn and looped him in an embrace. Vasu who had never been in such close proximity was startled at first.

The warmth from Kamali made him let go of all that had been disturbing his mind. He had never found love in any form in his life and this made him teary eyed. Vasu engulfed her with his huge arms and he muttered, "thank you for making this the last of my cursed life cycle."

Slowly, ever so softly, she let go of the embrace. Kamali sensed a change of environment even with her closed eyes. She tossed and turned on a rather hard bed in comparison to her soft ones.

Kamali in jiff shot up and scanned her surrounding only to find herself back in the tent at the excavation site where she was seven years ago.

"Was it a dream?" Kamali questioned and ran to another tent where all artifacts were kept. She couldn't believe, the lady statue stood there just as how they discovered it.

"What happened? It was just a dream?" She shook her head unable to accept it. "So, vivid it can't be a dream," she claimed and only then her eyes fell on the finger.

The ring gifted by Vasu was still in her fingers. Kamali smiled wide, it's a possession she wouldn't bear to lose.

----***----

Kamali learnt that two of the team members don't remember anything about the cave they came to know through Vadivu and that they found her fainted when they heard her scream.

"What happened to you, Kamali?" Asked Ananthi.

"In short, it was an inexplicable experience," Kamali concluded the topic avoiding further questions from them.

In days to come, Kamali would meet someone who resembles Chakra Vasudevan in her present time.
