Melanie woke up to feeling a cold ground beneath. She looked up and saw that she was in Salvatore cript but Hope,Josie and Lizzie were nowhere to find. She looked around and noticed it looked different.

"Hope,Lizzie,Josie" Melanie shouted when she came out of the cript. She noticed that her father's grave wasn't there in the cript. What a hell? She wondered. She didn't understand why? Or how? this happened. She wandered into town and wanted to ask Sheriff Donovan, her uncle what happened. She was looking around like a lost kid. When a voice brought her out of her trans.

"Hey sweetie are you lost"A kind and gentle voice said. One that everyone in Mystic Falls would recognize. Melanie turned around and saw Sheriff Forbes standing there smiling at her.

"No, I'm just confused a little. I woke up in the cemetery and I have no idea how I got there"Melanie tells her. It was half the truth. Because she was supposed to appear in peace to meet her dad but instead she appeared in the family cript without anyone.

"It's okay we'll head down to the station and you can tell me everything. Hopefully we'll figure out what's wrong"Liz said and Melanie nodded. Since it was the beginning of September it was getting a bit cold so Liz gave her a blanket.

"Okay let's start with a few simple questions okay?" Liz asks and Mel nods.

"Who were you searching for?"

"My three friends. Hope,Lizzie and Josie" Melanie answered immediately. Liz nodded and wrote everything down.

"What's your name?"

"Melanie Josephine Salvatore" Liz froze at the name. She looked back at her as to confirm that she heard correctly, but she had to remain calm and figure who this girl was.

"Okay, can you tell me the exact story of what happened before you woke up in the cemetery?"Liz asked another question and Melanie had to stay quiet a little to come up with something that wouldn't involve magic. Even now she could hear her Uncle's voice saying Never tell anyone you know about the supernatural. He made her promise that day. And she never broke her promises.

"Well I got into an argument with my mom so I ran out of the house and then Me, Hope,Lizzie and Josie went out so that they could bring my mood back up and at the end the last thing I remember is that it feels like I passed out" Melanie explained trying to tell her the important details while leaving out the supernatural details.

"I have a friend at Mystic Falls general maybe she can take a look if you don't have a concussion and I'm going to look into the name of the girls" Liz and she was about to pick up her phone when Mel shouted.

"No" Rule number two. Since she had constant vampire blood in her system she can never be at the hospital because they would find out something's wrong. If anything ever happened her Aunt Elena was a doctor so she could take care of her.

"Alright alright, I'm gonna call my daughter and her friend why don't you give the girls last name"Liz said and Mel said.

"Elizabeth and Jossette Saltzamn and Hope Marshall" Mel said and it was weird the name'she said. First Salvatore now Saltzman. Where did this girl come from? There was nothing not weird about this girl to Liz.

It's been hours and Mel was looking through pictures on her phone, that she had in her back pocket from her birthday parties to just silly pictures of Josie,Lizzie and Hope. Being alone in just for few hours made her anxiety come back. When she was little she used to be very shy and anxious or nervous all the time. Elena though it was because of the nightmares she had or the fact that she missed Stefan. But when she met Hope everything slowly started to die down. Hope was the cool older kid while Mel was the goofy younger friend.

The door opened and Mel turned to see Caroline standing there. Part of the nervousness lifted off of her chest and she ran into her arms. "Mom"Melanie said and hugged her mother who didn't seem to hug back. She pulled back. "You're not my mom. Who are you?" She asked her tears building up in her eyes. The poor girl was so confused. How did this person look exactly like her mother but she didn't recognize her.

"I'm sorry but I'm freshman in college. My name's Carolina Forbes and My mom said your last name was Salvatore. How?" Caroline asked and Mel didn't know what to believe did she really just ended up in the past. And then she remembered that her uncle once told her that a distant family relative had kids.

"Yes, I'm Zach Salvatores daughter" Melanie answered and both Liz and Caroline frowned not knowing he had a daughter.

"I knew Zach since I was a little girl he never had a daughter" Liz said crossing her arms and looking at the girl suspiciously.

"He did he had a girlfriend and she was pregnant but then an incident happened and she died luckily they were able to save me and my sister Sarah" Melanie answered and they both nodded. It made sense.

"Okay now I'm excellent at tracking people down why don't you tell me your parents names" Caroline said.

"My dad died before I was born and my moms name is Carolynn Sebrof" Mel answered and Caroline wrote that down.

"I'm sorry, I grew up with my mom too but my dad was somewhere else"Caroline briefly said. "While we're waiting you can stay at my dorm in Withmore we got one more bed and then you can tell me how you really got here" Caroline said and Melanie frowned. Even in the past her mother knew when she was lying.

"What I didn't-?" She started but she was cut off.

"I can practically smell a vampire scent on you but it's mixed with a human one"

"That can happen?"Liz questioned clearly confused that something like this was possible.

"Yeah my parents were vampires and that's why I'm human but I have vampire blood cursing through my veins plus I get hightened sense. Luckily no blood necessary" Now that she knew that the Sheriff knew about the supernatural she openly told her. Although Melanie didn't notice her slip up Caroline did and in that moment she knew the mystery girl must be lying but she was determined to find out the truth. Because everyone in Mystic Falls knows you can't hide anything from Caroline Forbes.

In the car on the way to Withmore Caroline spoke up.

"So it's best if you use your mother's name instead of your father because I have few friends that know the Salvatore brothers and they would be really confused" Caroline explained and Mel's face lit up when she said brothers meaning two. She could meet her dad. She could see him and she hug and talk to him. Tell him about her day in school. But then she remembered that he doesn't know who she is and she was back to her sad mood. She opened her locket and looked at the wedding picture of her parents. They both looked so happy, like nothing could ever gone wrong because they're in love.

"So what really happened?" Caroline asked and Melanie sighed and looked at her.

"all three of the girls are witches so we tried a spell to contact the dead but I think it backfired" Melanie said and Caroline nodded. They arrived at her doorm and Caroline introduced her to Elena. They had one empty bed since Megan was killed.

The girls lent her a a top that was a bit bigger so she used that as a night gown. As she was falling asleep she looked at the picture in her locker once more before closing her eyes.

Honestly I hate this chapter but I can't seem to have any other ideas how to tie together the past and the present.
