A New Beginning 

Racing down the highway in my '77 Camero

knuckling salty tears from my eyes

determined to be strong and unrepentant

a blanket dismissing of his lies

Singing bravely as I drive,

memory in a distant past,

down my new lilac lane of life

a different future has been cast

I will celebrate with laughter

and drink a glass of wine

in honour of the life I chose

that in the end is mine
