Chapter 30: Reunion with a Vampire
†Reunion with a Vampire†
Caine screamed out of frustration. It's been hours since Azra mind-linked him and he's still looking around for her with no success. It was exactly the same as before when she dissapeared. He couldn't even mind-link her anymore, not even sense the traces of the path those vampires left when they took her.
Rage.
Although he didn't know where she currently was, he was certain that it was all work of him - Luke. He cursed. It was all his goddamn fault, he shouldn't have left them without supervision, he shouldn't have pry off his eyes from Azriela. He should have watched her because he knew that Luke isn't going to give up that easily.
"Caine, there's no trace of her, but there's been commotion to the east. It might have something to do with Luke," Marcus suddenly appeared informing him.
"What's the commotion all about? Is the case unknown or..." he sighed. That was their only trace. Better something than nothing.
"There's a village to the east, but we've gotten few complaints from the residents that have moved out claiming that it has become a Vampire lair. Seeing as it was this close to us and our vampires don't like residing in the same area in that large number, we could only guess that they're either losts or led by someone there," by the time he finished, Caine already knew that Marcus' guess was right. If they were to kidnap a wolf such as Alne, they wouldn't risk riding with her across the entire continent, so it's better if they first confined her somewhere close by. Moreover, it's precisely because she was an Alne that they needed a large number of vampires to hold her down... Or that's what they thought.
Because they were mated, Caine could, more or less, read her thoughts and with half of them focused on the absence of her wolf, he knew that she stood no chance to get away from Luke.
Shit. They were in deep shit.
He had to think fast, they didn't have a chance to prepare for attack. They had to charge in blindly while they were still there and at least create an opening for Azra to escape. After that, it's all-in war.
"Prepare our people, we're striking before they flee or fortify themself to withstand our attack," he said and with a slight nod, Marcus was already off to fulfill his order.
"Don't rush in blindly, it's almost night."
A voice spoke and Caine didn't even have to turn around to know who was the owner of that voice. Vladimir.
"That's why we need to attack as soon as possi..." he started to reply, but Vlad interrupted him.
"You always forget what my ability is don't you?" and with that he appeared out of Caine's shadow who only sighed in annoyance.
Shadows.
That's what he hated about Vladimir, his ability to control and just poop out of shadows. You just couldn't escape from him, as long as there were shadows, he could travel through them.
"Right. We'll wait for the sunset, there's the most shadows you could use to get fastest there?" he asked and Vlad nodded.
"Precisely, and then I have the entire night to do as I please. Seeing as Luke believes that I'm dead, he won't prepare countermeasures so I'll have the entire night I could fight to my best.
"Right, let's atleast get a plan for then. You're gonna be scouting their base, find my woman and tell her not to worry. Also, it would be great if you were to get her out of there," Caine added as Vladimir grinned.
"Who do you take me for?"
"Nasty thorn in the toe I just can't get rid of, no matter how much I try."
"Tch, annoying brat." in terms of years, Vladimir was much older than Caine which gave him the opportunity to annoy him as much as possible. Caine could only sigh to that in defeat, he could've spent another thousand years without him as well.

Azra didn't know how long has it been since she blacked out, but taking in her surrounding, she knew that she had been thrown in some kind of dungeon, but it was more like jail. Where was she? What happened?
And with that, memories of her and Saphyr being attacked started flowing in her mind as she only groaned. She allowed herself to get kidnapped yet once again.
"I better stop before it becomes my habit," she mumbled to herself before rubbing her neck. Did they inject something in her? Caine! She needed to try to get to Caine.
'Leech, can you hear me?! Leech? Caine?', she tried mind-linking him, but it was useless. She waited and tried again only to be greet with the same type of silence. Why couldn't she get him, she recalls him saying something about their link being incomplete because she haven't marked him yet, but that shouldn't be the cause of it dissappearing whenever she's away from him. When she ran, she willingly blocked him, but... Could it be because of that thing they injected her with? The moment she felt that stinging sensation in her neck, she stopped hearing Caine's voice and eventually blacked out. Oh God, Charlotte. Will she be alright on her own? Truth, she had Caine to take care of her, but what if Luke managed to get to her as well? She shook her head, she shouldn't be thinking about it. Char was safe, she was at home. But Saphyr? She was with her, did she get safely to the castle? Or did they get her once again?
Shit, shit, shit.
Everything was her fault, all over again! Where was her wolf when she needed it?
"If you're trying to talk to your mate or your wolf, give up on it. It won't work," a voice she knew all too well spoke. Luke.
"What have you done to me?" her skin froze, both anger and fear fought within her sanity as she wanted to jump and kill him once for all.
"Oh come on, you probably learnt already that hybrids have their own power with my brothers. Why would you be so surprised, then?" he asked and her eyes widened. How didn't she come to realize that sooner?
"What? That still doesn't explain what you did to me," she continued as he only laughed like maniac. He suddenly stopped before slowly getting closer to her as he leaned over the bars, silver, as she could see.
Fear.
Fear definitely won over.
"Since when could you talk so freely to me, my sweet little marionette?" she gulped as his voice taunted her mind with the nickname she used to hate so much whenever he called her with it.
"I'll have to fix that all over again, you really grew to be a bad girl," he dramatically sighed as she looked around. They were all alone, no windows, only one door to get her out of there, but they were behind him. She silently cursed, so she'll have no other choice but to take him down in order to escape.
"But, to answer your previous question, it's witchcraft. Apparently some grandma of mine was a witch, though they're nonexistent now, and those powers woke inside of me. I've been rotting your ability to bond with your soul-mate ever since you were just a little brat and it would have been perfect if that person wasn't that poor excuse of a Vampire King. Shame really, but that only means that I'll have to kill him before making you mine," she only kept silent, as long as she remained cool, she could keep taunting him to reveal more information about his plan.
"Why did you take me in the first place? Have my parents really left me?" I continued as he only chuckled.
"No way, even with their dead bodies, they kept protecting you from us noticing you. Your kind isn't loved at all, my little Alne," he said and I glared at him. He's been lying to me from the start.
"You killed them!" I growled as he only rose his finger and told me no.
"When you look at it closely, it was your dear Werewolf King who ordered their death. He wanted them dead, so I took a job. Your mother would have been an interesting specimen, seeing as an offspring she would give me would hold power greater than any. An offspring of Alne and hybrid, could you just imagine?!"
"You, you didn't..." Azriela started with all color drained from her face.
"Of course not, apparently, once Alne mated, they could give birth only with their mates. She was useless to me, that's why I killed her," there was pure rage in Azra's face as she slowly learned the truth behind her parents and all pieces fell in the picture.
"I will kill you! I will fùcking murder y..." she started yelling when he interrupted her once again.
"You can try, but with over three hundred vampires walking above us, I doubt that you'll make it. Moreover, I was just getting to the good part, what was it that you asked me? Why did I take you?" he grinned. It was no grin when you accomplished something you yearned for so hard, it was rather a grin that showed pure madness and sadistic nature.
"I was really, really disappointed. With my magic abilities, I even thought of taking her uterus and placing it in some other woman, chances were low, but I could probably create an artifical Alne, and when I was in the maze of all my thought and ideas, I heard it. Hidden under the ground of the house they hid in, there was a little child crying. Their child."
You.
It didn't need to be said for Azra to understand.
"Years of manipulation and you already forgot everything about your parents and believed in my words like they were the only source of truth you had."
By the time he had finished, Azra was so angry that she could kill him within a second if he was in her grasp. He had killed her parents, he had decieved her, he took everything from her. Werewolf King's orders or not, it was still him who tracked them down. It was him who dealt the finishing blows.
"Now that I finally have you, you will bear me children and make me more powerful than those meekly leaders of their kinds. I hid you from everyone and groomed you into perfect woman, but that bitćh had to interfere with my plans!" Ana, she guessed.
"Go to hell!" she yelled at him.
"Already been there, lovely place actually!" he said back, madness completely overtaken him, "And now you'll bear me children."
"Too bad now," she already knew about her condition, she also knew that it was the reason why her wolf wasn't around, "My uterus is damaged with silver, I won't be able to give you one even if you were to kill Caine."
Words simply seemed to tumble down her throat, it felt so surreal that she admit it so loudly.
Truth.
The one she didn't want to admit.
"Really," he chuckled, "I thought that, no matter that you were an Alne, if silver were to damage you, you wouldn't be able to recover. But I was proven so, so, so wrong when I sensed that day a child you carried in you. Don't you remember, my sweet little marionette? You've been stabbed there once already, haven't you now?"
Her eyes widened as she comprehended the words he just told her. She shook her head, wasn't the sole reason her wolf dissapeared because she was upset because her... No, no, no.
Wrong.
She was so fùcking wrong. It never dissapeared. It was never upset because of her condition. All this time she couldn't feel her inner beast, it was all because one single reason.
Her wolf was healing her.
And just like that, she felt the stirring sensation deep inside her head, of a wolf opening her eyes setting a deal lock on her prey she'd herself make sure to end up being dead.
And just then, a sound of loud explosion not so far from there was heard and she knew right then and there that Caine arrived.
Round two.

I kinda like this new style of mine where I use just a single word or two, but they speak more than an entire paragraph would :)
I'm so keeping that style and I chose to write a sequel after all, only it wound be about Marcus. It will be about that Werewolf King who despised Alne and Charlotte.
Fùck my inspiration. One more chapter and epilogue after this.
