LANIE STOOD AMONGST the crowd, watching Miyagi-Do do their karate presentation. After many desperate pleads of Robby convincing Lanie to stay longer, she agreed, not even wanting to go home at all. She saw the way Robby was doing a type of karate that she has never seen before, but she was very intrigued.

Robby glanced down to Lanie from the stage and gave her a small wink, her cheeks evidently heating up from his charm. When they were done with their demonstration, Robby bowed and stole one last glance towards Lanie before facing the crowd.

The sounds of people clapping their hands filled the air and Daniel was about to present their grand finale, until the loud chants of people yelling 'Cobra Kai' filled Lanie's ears. Turning around, she saw teenagers around her age running towards the stage.

Cobra Kai was loud and definitely put on a show. Lanie walked over to the corner where Robby was at and put a hand on his shoulder, immediately easing his body as it sent shivers down his spine. "You did great up there."

"Thanks, Lanie," Robby said, his smile going ear to ear. Lanie continued to watch the demonstration in front of her and then suddenly, she felt a pair of eyes dig into her skull. Tracing the direction of the feeling, Lanie's eyes landed in front of a boy from Cobra Kai, his hair spiked up in a cerulean blue mohawk. The boy sent a wink and an air kiss in her direction, Lanie scoffing at him in disgust.

She also noticed that Robby seemed to be glaring at the boy on stage as well. The tension was evident and it didn't go unnoticed by Lanie.

"Do you know him?" Robby asked in a low and bone-chilling tone in his voice. He didn't like the way Hawk was looking at Lanie and he sure as hell wasn't going to let him have a chance with her. His jealousy was already overwhelming him and he barely even knew the girl.

"No, no I don't. Do you?" Robby finally looked towards Lanie and the dark look in his eyes disappeared when the girl was in his sight.

"It's a long story." Lanie sensed that Robby didn't want to talk about it so she instantly dismissed the subject.

Daniel was walking away with his wife and Sam trailing close after them. Robby and Lanie stayed for several seconds before following after the LaRusso's. The walk to the parking lot was rather silent, but Robby's and Lanie's hands consistently brushed against each other, their cheeks heating up from the subtle touch.

"Well, this is my car. It was good seeing you, Robby. I hope we run into each other again soon."

"Woah, Woah, you're not getting off that easily. How about you give me your number?" Robby asked, a smirk appearing on his face with Lanie rolling her eyes playfully. She thought about it at first, but another idea popped into her mind.

"If we are destined to see each other again, then maybe that will be a sign," Lanie said, hinting at her favorite movie. Robby, instantly knew what the girl was going at.

"I'm going to assume Serendipity is one of your favorite movies?"

"Is it that obvious?" Lanie laughed, knowing it certainly was true. Before she could get into her car, she groaned in distress when she noticed her car indeed, had flat tires. Yes, plural.

"Are you serious right now?" Robby's eyes trailed to what Lanie was looking at and despite the sad situation about her car, Robby couldn't help but release a smile, knowing this certainly was a sign of fate wanting them to be together.

"Mmm, Lanie I really do believe that's your sign that we are meant to see each other again." Lanie let out a frustrated sigh, but that was concealed with a smile, not even denying that this was indeed serendipity.

"Yeah, yeah, can it, Willy Wonka," Lanie said, a laugh escaping her lips, seeing the fake offense on Robby's face as he dramatically put a hand on his chest.

"What's going on here, Lanie?" Daniel asked as he walked over to the two teenagers. Lanie subtly pointed to her car tires and Daniel knew exactly what to do.

"Oh, Lanie, don't worry about this at all. I'll just call one of my guys and we can fix it back at the shop."

"Mr. LaRusso, that's very generous of you but I-"

Daniel swiftly put his hand up, not letting Lanie continue her sentence as it was no problem. But knowing he didn't mean any harm by putting his hand up, Lanie still flinched at the motion of the way Daniel held his hand in the similar way her father used to whenever he would hit her.

The way Lanie shrunk in her place, didn't go unnoticed by both Robby and Daniel.

"Hey, hey, are you okay, Lanie," Robby asked in the softest tone he has ever used. Daniel even stared at the boy in question, never hearing him be this sentimental before.

"U-Um, yeah, swatting a fly away. You know how the summer heat attracts mosquitos," Lanie said, trying to hide her nervousness. Robby didn't seem convinced and desperately wanted to pry, but before he could, Daniel spoke up, hiding his worry to try and not make Lanie any more anxious.

"You know what, how about I call one of the guys to pick up your car and I can drive you back home-"

"No!" Lanie blurted out that word too quickly, already earning worried looks from the men, but quickly tried to mask it. "I-I mean, my parents and I got into an argument and I just want to let them have the night to themselves for tonight. You can just drop me off at a hotel or something."

That was all Daniel needed to hear to confirm his suspicions about Lanie's domestic life. There was no way he would let her go home alone and he would never let Lanie stay at a hotel.

"Nonsense. You can stay at my house tonight. We have another guest room." Lanie wanted to politely decline, but when she saw how Robby's face was ecstatic, there was no way she would deny it now.

"Um, thank you, Mr. LaRusso. You have no idea how much I appreciate this kind gesture." Lanie walked to the car, looking back at Robby who's smile seemed to be even wider, if that was possible.

The car ride back to the LaRusso house was rather silent, the roaring engine of the car and the twinkling stars of the night distracting Lanie from any worries of her parents. To make things better, Lanie seemed to be making new friends and she was happy that she was able to talk to more people before she started public school.

The LaRusso household was certainly big, but not as big as Lanie's house. It didn't bother her at all though, considering that this house was more of a home, unlike hers, where it was utter hell. Sam gave her some pajamas for the night and got herself ready in the guest room. Taking off her clothes, she glanced at herself in the mirror to see the purple and blue bruises that were hardly going away. They have been there for weeks and still nothing, her skin wasn't healing.

She requested Sam to give her a long-sleeved top and pants, earning a weird look from her considering that it was summer but then thought everyone sleeps differently. The top covered every one of her bruises, relief filling Lanie's body that no one would become suspicious.

A knock on the door echoed in the room and Lanie let out a soft 'come in' to see that it was Robby on the other side. His hair was up in a ponytail and he was wearing sports shorts and a white t-shirt.

"Aw, look at you, My Little Pony. I love your ponytail," Lanie said with a teasing tone. Robby playfully glared at her before sitting next to her on the bed, the mattress sinking in deeper.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." There was a comfortable silence between the pair for a while until Robby spoke up first. "Can I ask you a question?"

Lanie's heart dropped, not sure where this conversation was headed and her heart was palpitating faster by the second. "U-Um, sure?"

"You could have easily walked away after I pleaded with you to stay to watch the demonstration. Why did you stay?"

Genuinely, Lanie was not sure why she did stay. Even though Robby did plead for her to stay, she could have easily left, but she didn't. "I actually don't know. Maybe because there's something about you that I'm intrigued in."

Robby nodded his head continuously, still staying silent as if he was still in deep thought. After a while, Robby stood up from Lanie's bed and was about to walk out the door, until he stopped and turned around.

"I told you," Robby stated, a small smirk tugging on the edge of his lips.

"What? What do you mean?"

"I told you this was serendipity. There has to be a reason why your car had two flat tires, Robby said as a matter of factly.

"Maybe a creep wanted to kidnap me and was about to until he saw I had you with me," Lanie said nonchalantly, shrugging her shoulders. Robby was trying to find words to say, his mouth looking like a fish out of water. Lanie laughed and stood up from the bed, and pushed Robby outside the door before he decides to stay there all night.

"Goodnight, Robby. Maybe this is meant to be something."

"Goodnight, Lanie." When she closed the door, she heard Robby mutter words that she couldn't seem to make out.  But little did she know, those words would have a powerful meaning to her future.
