REVEILLE (Achievement #42 = 2 points)

My alarm bells ring out first thing in the morning,

if I'm lucky, gently tolling the new day.

Depending on the year, the time I wake up, and the season,

the squirrels that tap dance on my roof may greet the morn.

Leaping from tree to roof, with a BANG,

they clatter in their little tap shoes across the bedroom roof.

Heading for the bird feeder and whatever morsels it contains,

or wherever squirrels go after dancing on my roof.

You'd think they'd just climb down the tree

and up the bird feeder, but for some whimsical squirrel reason, no.

If I'm lucky, bells gently toll my morning alarm,

unless those misbegotten, dancing squirrels get there first.
