Changes
(Y/n and the ducks are mostly 15/16, but this takes place when they are all first year, so Rick riley and the varsity team are just seniors and the ducks and y/n are sophomores)

"Come on Adam! We only have a week left before I'm gone!" I say, running around. Adam chases me.
"I know! You're just too fast!" I laugh at his response.
At the end of that week, I don't think I've ever seen Adam cry that much, not even when he watched My Girl. I was crying too. We held each other, not wanting to let go of the other.
"Promise you'll come visit? And call?" Adam sniffles, as we pull away.
"Of course I will!" I half smile trying to cheer him up. We were moving to another state, so I knew I wasn't going to visit. We hugged one last time and then I climbed into the car.
-present-
"Y/n?" My mom yells, "you have a phone call!" I hurry down the stairs, thinking it would be Chloe or Cass calling to go to the mall or something.
"Hello?" I speak into the phone.
"Y/n y/l/n! Hi, this is Tom Riley, the Dean from Eden Hall. We were sent your hockey tapes, from your coach, and we were really impressed with your tricks, skill and talent. We want you to come play hockey for us on the Varsity team, to liven up the team a little. You don't have to make the decision right now, but call us back before Friday with an answer. We will email all the details and you can go over it with your parents. We hope to hear from you soon!" And with that he hangs up.
I stand there in utter shock. I look over to my mom, who is smiling already.
"Do you want to go?" She asks, as she sits down at the table. I walk over and sit with her.
"It would be a really great opportunity for me, so yeah, I want to go." I say as I look into her eyes.
"When dad gets home, we will go over the email and paperwork and we can call them back tomorrow with the good news. We will have to get you a dorm room." She concludes.
"Oh my god, thank you thank you thank you!" I squeal and hug her before running back upstairs. I was just entering my room when the phone rang again. I go back downstairs and look at the number. I didn't recognize it fully but it seemed familiar so I answered.
"Hello?" I speak into the phone. I get nothing in return. "Is anybody there? I don't enjoy prank calls." I hang up and go back upstairs again.
The rest of the summer flew by. I said goodbye to my friends and me and my parents were on the way to move me into my dorm at Eden Hall. It felt so unreal, like I was dreaming. School starts Monday, with an assembly in the morning before classes. We left Friday morning, since it was a good 10 hour drive. I would be back in my old town, after 6 years. I wondered who all I would see again. 'Him?'
Pulling into the student parking by my dorms, a wave of nervousness washed over me. We start carrying my suitcases and my boxes up the stairs. We get to the 3rd floor and walk down the hall.
"Here it is, 303." I point out to my parents and we walk through the already open door. We see a blonde girl standing on one half of the room. I set my boxes down.
"Hi, I'm y/n. You must be my roommate, Julie?" I hold my hand out for her to shake.
"Yes that's me. I was just wondering, do we want to leave the setup the way it is?" We look around, as do my parents. The room was pretty spacious, and we were really close to this floors showers.
"I think it looks fine, it's spacious this way?" I finish looking around and I look to her. She nods and turns to put things on the bed she chose. Mom and dad went down to grab the last few things while I started getting things out and ready. Me and Julie start talking, about hobbies, interests etc.
"I actually played at the Junior Goodwill games, with my team the ducks. We actually got a scholarship to this school based on the games, we are all playing for Junior Varsity." She explains, as I lay down a foam cover over the rock hard dorm bed, and try to put the sheet on.
"Wow, you guys must be pretty good. I played for Nationals with my team and we won but that's no where near as bragworthy as your story." I chuckle and she smiles.
"Hey y/n, we are heading to the hotel, then out for supper." My parents came in, so I grabbed my blanket and little carryon and went with them.
"I'll see you later Julie!" I wave and she returns it.
I spent Saturday with my parents, and when Sunday came, I said goodbye. I watched them pull away, then went up to the dorm to continue organizing and unpacking. I filled drawers, and the wardrobe, then made sure the desk was ready and that I had all the things I needed for school. I made sure there was a space big enough for my hockey bag underneath the bed, just until I got settled into one of the lockers in the change-room, which I was told I'd get at the first practice.

-third person pov-
The ducks walked around the school grounds, talking about classes and how much fun they would have.
"We are gonna rule the school." Goldberg states and everybody laughs.
"So who are your guys dorm mates?" Kenny asks.
"I'm just staying home and bringing the car every morning, dad doesn't want me 'partaking in scandalous activities that happen at the dorms after curfew.'" Adam scoffs and then chuckles, which is followed by some laughter from the others.
"I actually got a real good dorm mate, she's so sweet." Julie starts, "she's actually going to play hockey with the Varsity team, and she's our age."
"Damn, that's impressive, no tryout or anything?" Charlie asks, and Julie shrugs.
"I'm not sure. Yeah, y/n is her name and she's so pretty as well." But Adam had stopped listening after hearing the name. 'Y/n?'
"What's her last name?" He asks, trying not to sound desperate.
"I think she said y/l/n. But yeah, she moved from another state to come here so the school obviously wanted her here."
'Y/n is here, right now. That seems impossible but also seems like a sign. I should find her, wait, would she recognize or even remember me? It's been 6 years but it feels like just yesterday I was chasing her around that yard, while also chasing her.' Adams mind races. He's brought out of it when he hears and sees fingers snapping in front of him.
"Where did you go man?" Charlie asks.
"Julie, is your dorm mate here, right now?" Adam asks and Julie nods, "what dorm?"
"Room 303, building C. Why do you ask?" Julie says, but Adams already gone.
It takes Adam 5 minutes of running to reach Building C when it would usually take 15 to walk. He walks through the front doors, and races up the steps.
"God, I hope she remembers me." He mumbles under his breath, which is shaky from the running.
He gets to the third floor and starts walking. '300, 301, 302. There it is. 303.' He stands in front of the door, debating whether he should knock. He raised his hand to the door, takes a breath and knocks.
"Julie? Did you forget your key already?" Y/n says from inside the room, and Adam recognizes her voice immediately. Her voice never changed, in all the years it was still the same soft voice. She opens the door, and freezes.
"Adam?" She asks, in disbelief that he's standing there in front of her. 'She remembers.' Adam says to himself in his head.
"Hi." Adam says, and y/n looks him over.
"You've changed." She smiles and giggles. Adam looks her over too.
"So have you." He says. She reaches for him and hugs him.
"Yeah but you've changed more, your voice is deeper, you're taller now and not scrawny anymore." Hearing her talk about him like that just pushed the right button for Adam.
"What are you doing here y/n?" Adam asks as he follows her into the dorm.
"I was asked to come play for Varsity." She hops up onto the bed and he follows.
"Varsity?! Wow." He says shocked, even though Julie already told them, hearing her say it just makes it better.
"Yeah. Do you, never mind you probably don't." She starts but then cuts herself off.
"No say it, maybe I will." He turns his body more towards her and moves closer.
"Okay, do you remember when we were like 9, we were out on the pond and we would imagine we were playing for Varsity, together?" She smiles as she remembers little Adam.
"Oh my god, yeah I remember that, only because I ended up falling on my ass right after." He starts laughing, "well look at you now, you actually are playing for varsity."
A moment of silence falls over them.
"Adam, I'm sorry for not keeping in touch after I moved." Y/n looks down and fidgets with her hands, "I wanted to call you everyday but I didn't think you'd want me to do that." Adam reaches out his hand, grabbing hers, and that small gesture was enough for y/ns heart to start pounding, the same way it did back then.
"No I should've done more. I wanted to call you too but I just couldn't. I don't know why." Adam tried to reassure her. "And then when I didn't hear from you, I thought I did something wrong, but there wasn't a day in those 6 years that I didn't think of calling you. I even dialed the number into the phone countless times. I actually called once but once I heard your voice, I froze."
"That was you!" Y/n exclaims and hits him on the shoulder, playfully but still hard enough. "You should've said something. I knew the number was familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it."
"I know, I know." Adam puts his head down. "I'm glad that Julie started talking about you."
"Julie? Is she, your girlfriend?" Y/n asks, secretly hoping he would answer no.
"No, no. She's my friend, my teammate. We went to the Goodwill Games together and now we are the JV team here." Adam quickly reassures her, and smiles. "Alot of things about me might have changed y/n, but there's one thing that hasn't."
"Oh, and that is?" Y/n asks, but she already knew the answer deep down, she just wanted to hear him finally say it.
"My feelings for you."
