Brick in the wall: knackwurst
When I jump out of the window I immediately hear some German voices near by. The Stasi must be searching for us.
The meeting with the Contact is failed.
I wonder what they're going to do with Greta. I just hope they won't hurt her. But I need to focus on the mission now.
I look around and fortunately I'm on the back of the bar and not on the principal streets.
I must to stay hidden to avoid detection.
"I'm going to need more time." - Adler says on the radio. "Rally up with Lazar and Park without me. I'll update you when I can."
"Roger that. I'm going to avoid the soldiers."- I reply. Then I carefully reach the only door in the alley, but it doesn't open.
Fortunately I have some hairpins with me so I pick lock.
I enter in the building and climb the first steps.
"Careful, Bell, the Stasi are everywhere." - Lazar advises me trough the radio.
As Lazar said, on my right there is a soldier who is inspecting the house.
I slowly reach him from the behind and stab him.
"Is he gone?" - someone asks in the shadow of the room.
I point my gun in his direction and notice that he's only a German man who is trying to hide between all the these mannequins. It must be a dress shop.
I lower my gun and smile to him. He's hiding from the soldiers like me.
"Thank you so much! I think I'll stay here until the Stasi have left." - he says in German.
"Good luck!" - I open the door and leave the shop.
I'm outside again.
"Meet me in the building across from your current position." - Lazar says.
"Keep a low profile. We have enough trouble." - he adds before closing the call.
I must study where to go. I'm on a balcony and Stasy is everywhere: on the streets, in the buildings...
Wich way should I choose? Left or right?
On the left there are less soldiers.
I carefully jump down and enter in a closed bar on my left. Here I stab another enemy.
I go on and open a door of a building.
Suddenly a soldier appears in front of me and goes to the right.
Shit! Fortunately he didn't see me.
I start to cross the building with the gun in my hand.
"Park, give me a sitrep." - Adler says.
"I'm in a storefront facing Kraus's apartment. He just got home. You?" - Park replies.
I open another door and exit from the building.
There is an enemy in front of me and it seems that changing position is not in his plans.
I break his neck while Adler is still talking on the radio.
"The Stasi are combing the area. I need to lay low. I'll catch up with you when the heat dies down. Bell, get to Park and Lazar ASAP. Out."
I hate thinking about Adler and Park being alone. Probably Adler is closer to them
than me. I have to hurry up.
I pick lock another door. This time the building hasn't an hidden place for me. There is only a room.
But when I'm going out to search another way someone coughs.
It's a man, tied to the chair.
He's probably the Greta's informant.
I promised I will help her and that's what I'm gonna do. I left Greta behind, I can't do this to her informant too.
There are also three soldiers in the room too but they seem all distracted and one of them is sleeping. Perfect.
"Just let me go." - the information says with a sad voice. "Please."
I can't stand to see him like this.
I slowly reach every soldier and broke their neck. Well, that was easy. I minute ago I thought that I couldn't go on mission without Adler but now I feel invincible.
Before rescue him I need to look around, in case I will find useful informations.
On a table there is a floppy disk so I collect it, maybe I will be able to decrypt it.
On the other table I notice I file with a document inside. I take it and read it. It's in German but I think my knowledge of this language will help me.

This motherfucker!
"You? I've seen your picture. They're looking for you." - the man says looking at me.
He seems so scared when I'm getting closer to him.
He has blonde hair and his right eye is purple: someone must have punched him.
"What happened?" - I ask angrily.
"I've been monitoring a nearby KGB field house. I don't know how they found me; I've done everything by the book." -he says with a German accent.
"Do you know anything about Anton Volkov?"
I will play his game and see how far he can go.
"Volkov? He's awful... despicable! If you find him you should just kill him on sight. Please, I'm a friend... release me."
"Oh yeah? And this fucking note?! How long have you been working for the KGB? Don't try to lie to me again!" - I cry.
"What... what did that paper say? You can't trust these people."
"Are you the one that tipped Volkov off?"
"I don't even know what are you talking about. Please, just let me return to my children."
I look at the gun in my hands, then I lower it.
I sigh and free his tied hands. I will pay the consequences of being big-hearted.
"Lay low, we'll be in touch."
"Thank you for saving my life. I'll be waiting to hear from you."
I start to climb the stairs to go outside and reach Lazar but something stopped me for a second.
"What's your name?" - I ask turning around.
His eyes are still on me.
"Richter. It's Ritchter."
"Don't makey me regret my choise. Richter."
"Go ahead. I'll be fine."
I open the door and carefully look around.
There are a bunch of soldiers but I can hide behind this construction.
After passing the Stasi I see the building that Lazar told me about. He has to be here.
I enter in the house; Lazar is waiting for me.
"Good work. I don't think anyone saw you. Follow me." - he says blocking the door with a chair." Stay quiet, we don't want the locals ratting us out."
I follow him trough the all apartment.
Near every door of the corridor there are some shoes, umbrellas... I wonder how many lives were changed because of this cold war.
Then we exit in the backyard of these locks of flat. It's still raining and I'm starting to be hungry.
I observe the lighted windows and remember my life before joining the CIA.
I had everything I wanted, an house, a bed, a meal, a family... And now I'm here to suffer and prevent that someone steals all those privileges to somebody else.
"Park's in the electronics store right across the street from Kraus's place. I was gonna pick her up some knackwurst from Der Braunbar, but it's closed already." - Lazar confesses.
Does Lazar... want to buy some knackwurst for Park?
"Are you guys... dating?"- I ask while we're crossing the backyard.
"What? No. I mean- Oh, forgot about this." - he says embarrassed.
"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone." - I smile.
Seems like Lazar has a crush on her.
We enter in the electronics store.
The place is dark, full of computers and tools.
"We're back." - Lazar says when he sees Park.
She's looking Kraus's apartment from a big window.
This store has really a nice view of Kraus's apartment but no sign of Adler. Where is he?
"A car pulled up near Kraus's building a few minutes ago, but I didn't have a good angle to... just a moment, Kraus is on the telephone." - Park says looking at the apartment's window.
"... I know fucking procedure; no one followed me through the checkpoint." - we hear Kraus's voice on the radio near Park.
She crypted his call.
"Bell, get eyes on Kraus." - Lazar commands.
I get closer to the window and see Kraus talking on the phone on the first floor.
"Dumbass. He even talks with the lights on near the window. He doesn't suspect anything." - I comment switching yo the camera.
"The briefcase is secure. It's been with me the entire time." - Kraus adds. "Where and when?"
He keeps talking while I'm focusing on him with my camera.
"Yes, I know the place. I'll be careful."
"What do you think, Lazar?" - asks Park.
"Sounds like Volkov wants Kraus's briefcase. We should place a tracker in it. that case will lead us straight to Volkov." - he replies.
"One of us can sneak into Kraus's apartment. Avoiding Kraus and his wife might be the greater challenge."
"Bell volunteers." - Lazar quickly says.
"What?! Me? But-."
"While she's doing that I'll check around the exterior for any unwanted guests." - Lazar finishes. "Park, you can keep an eye on us from here. I'll try to give my best angle."
"Lovely." - she replies with a smile.
Maybe I really should leave them alone, after all. We're in a fucking war and we all could die after minutes.
But- where the hell is Adler?
I decide to go out of the store where Park and Lazar are hiding.
The weather is still cold but I don't mind the rain.
I look around; only soldiers, German people, blocks of flat... God, please don't tell me that-.
"Bell." - calls someone behind me.
"Adler?"
I turn around and notice him going straight to me.
"You piece of- Where the hell were you?" - I ask worried.
Without letting him reply I hug him tight.
He smells like cigarettes and mint as usual.
"Woah! Easy kid! Did I miss you already?" - he seems surprised.
"I thought that they caught you." - I answer looking the streets above his shoulder.
"Don't worry. I'm too smart for them. And by the way, I have something for you." - he takes something out from his jacket.
It's a pack of knackwurst.
"I bought them while I was busy hiding from the Stasy. It's late and you must be hungry so... wanna eat first? But make it quick, or Lazar will eat them all before us." - he smiles.
