Redlight, Greenlight: arcade
Before the soldier pulls the trigger Woods runs into the room and kicks his hand.
The soldier didn't let go the gun but Woods strangles him from the behind and I take the chance to steal his gun.
The first guard is down but Woods doesn't know the presence of the other; I can see him running into us.
I send two bullets right into his stomach and the Red falls behind the desk.
"You're welcome." - he says after a moment of silence.
"I- I'm sorry, I should be more careful." - I say observing his clever face under the light.
"Not your fault. Oh and you lost something." - he passes to me my sniper, wich I lost falling on the floor.
Woods lock the door and I take take to watch the room: it seems like and armory, in fact there are many different weapons on the wall but it's a control room too.
"Park. Bell found us a way inside. But we don't got a lot of time." - he says on the radio, examining the body of the guard.
"Then get moving." - she replies.
"No arguments here."
He opens the next door and we end up in a big space full of metal stairs and metal platforms.
"They should be hiding something important here. Adler was right." - I say looking at the ceiling wich seems so far away.
I think we're in the heart of this structure, maybe not really in the heart but very close.
"If Adler says something... believe him. This man never lies." - Woods says.
The memories of our kiss and the night passed together cross my mind.
Did he really wanted me? Was I only a toy for him?
He seems the classic leader who cares about his team but the day after he made his confession.
He wasn't professional at all.
But I know too damn well that I wanted it since I saw him waking up from my coma.
I want to find out.
Now or never.
"Do you know him well?" - I ask hoping to not appear curious.
"Who?" - he asks going ahead.
Our steps resound in the silence.
"I mean- Adler."
"Oh, if you're asking this because of your doubts about him I can certainly say he's a cool man. The perfect leader who isn't afraid to beat your ass down if you betray the team or don't follow his leadership. You know, he's a badass as you can see. He argues with Hudson a lot, even if Hudson is in a higher position, whatever." - Woods looks at me and smiles."But he also has a sweet side that reveals to few people. And I think you're part of them."
I look away and blush.
Does- does he know?!
I hope he didn't saw us-
"Guards down here." - Woods alerts me.
I didn't notice four guards talking in Russian down the stairs.
I can understand what they're talking about... A promotion and some random jokes, nothing useful anyway.
"I'll move to the lower deck and engage on your mark." - Woods climbs down the stairs and hides behind a box, waiting for my signal.
I take my weapon and watch through the scope.
I feel almost bad to pull the trigger. These people seem... happy.
They have no idea what's in store.
I hesitate and hold my breath.
"We don't have the whole day, Bell." - Woods wishpers.
I sigh and finally decide to shot the first man: the bullet flies right in his head.
The man who was sitting on a box jumps from the fear.
The last three men look around with terrified eyes and before they could scream for help Woods kill them.
"All clear. Moving up." - he says.
I climb down too and follow him.
We're on a long white corridor with some armored doors on the sides.
I decide to see if there's something inside.
Only one of them is open. I get in and notice that's a dorm. Beds near the wall, a desk... And a map of something.
I remember what Woods said and take a picture.
"Be ready." - Woods advises me when I come out of the room. " Could be a thousand Reds on the other side of this door."
The corridor ends and he stops in front of the door.
"Cover me." - Woods looks at me before open it.
A purple light is the first thing I see. Then I notice some... arcades machine?
What is this place? I can't believe to my eyes.
The atmosphere changed a lot; a minute before we were in a grey and sad structure and now we're on a game room.
The room is also full of mannequins but no sign of enemies.
I want to ask Woods where the hell we are but he seems focused on something...
He's in front of me, walking like a tiger who searches a prey.
What is he doing? There is nothing to worry about.
He's slowly going to the back of a mannequin.
"Woods?..."
He isn't going to do it, right?
But a moment after he jumps on it and they both fall on the floor. Woods goes on the top of the mannequin, ready to punch it.
He noticed too late that this is not a guard.
Woods takes the mannequin for its shirt so he can analyzes closer the face.
Woods' expression passes from confused to angry.
I'm trying to hide my smile but it's so hard.
Woods, the strong and serious Woods, switched a mannequin for a guard. That should be pretty obvious.
"Not a fucking word, Bell."-he looks at me with angry eyes, like he could read my mind.
"I won't." - I say laughing.
Then he gets up and examines the place.
As I thought before, this is a game room.
Woods pushes down another mannequin on his way, he should be still pissed off.
The poor guy hit the start button of one of these arcade machines.
"Oh! Look here, it still work." - I exclaim amazed.
"Nah, I'm going ahead. You should continue our mission or-"
"Or what?" - I say with a smile.
"What do you mean?" - he suspiciously looks at me.
I look at the mannequin on the floor then at him.
"Oh c'mon! You can't-"
"We deserve a break, Woods. Nobody will see us, right?"
"You know what? Do whatever you want, but silently and quickly. Just don't tell anybody what you saw." - he reaches the only window of the room and checks out.
I start to play a game where you're a machine and you need to overcome the others.
"I used to play it too. Before hard times." - Woods admits.
"You can play it now." - I encourage him.
"I'm too old for this." - he laughs.
I continue to play with another game where you have to catch more fishes than a guy.
"Aw c'mon! It's not fair! He catches them so fast."
"That's why I hated this game." - Woods says.
After ten minutes I decide to reach him by the Window.
"What the hell is this place?" - he asks.
Out of the window there is a square, full of shops, cars, vegetation...
"This building is so strange, this game room and this square have nothing in common with the structure." - I'm confused. "Adler won't believe us. I bet he was expecting something... but not this."
I take my camera and frame the place.
Suddenly a loud alarm tripped in the entire square.
"What the-"
Some fake figures start to move vertically or horizontally and many Russian soldiers exit from a big door.
"Did we tripped the alarm? Are they coming for us?" - I ask worried.
"It's a Speinaz training course! Made to look like Fucking Anytown, USA." - he explains.
"Mï nachenayem!" - says a loud voice in the square.
This means -" We're starting."
I haven't to tell Woods because he understood by himself.
"Ah shit- they're starting!"
