Dust
~The Next Day || 1:02~
"How we looking?"
"Almost there, engaging landing gear now." Jimin nods as Y/N parks their small ship, the thing covered by a cloak. As soon as they hit dirt, Jimin sighs. Looks like their peace and quiet is over. Normally it would only take mere minutes to get to Mars, but they stalled. They did some scans, making sure what Mr. Blaine said was right. He was. Mars really is planning an attack. All their ships are being fueled and loaded. This isn't good, they have to hurry.
"Alright, we're fully landed. What now?" Y/N asks, turning off the controls.
"Make sure you have the ship's coordinates on your comms. Both of you." Jungkook and Y/N nod, adding them to their maps. "Losing a cloaked ship is not exactly on my agenda. As soon as you're ready, we'll get moving," Jimin says.
The two unbuckle, making sure their armor is functional before putting on their helmets. Jimin follows, helping Y/N with her armor like the gentleman he is before doing his own. "Protect that ring with your life, L/N," he teases, watching as she puts the gloves on.
"L/N? I think you mean Park."
Jungkook laughs. "You two... how the hell did I get stuck with you two? You're not even married yet but you act like you are."
"We're engaged," Jimin replies with a pout, holding his helmet by his side.
"Sure, but you're not completely married yet. You're still a L/N until you're pronounced husband and wife," Jungkook says. This only gets Jimin and Y/N more excited.
"We're gonna get pronounced husband and wife!" Jimin says in a cheer, going right for her. Despite their armor, the two hug, causing Jungkook to sigh.
"You two are impossible."
Jimin shrugs. "Oh yes, we know. Now come on, let's go dust some Martians."
As soon as they depart, Jimin, Jungkook, and Y/N cloak themselves, disappearing from outside view. The good news is with these suits, they can slightly see each other. Key word: slightly. Only the outline. It's almost like an illusion. Like something's there but not quite. Regardless, Jimin's boots hit the ground.
"Now we have to get inside the city. That's the next step," Jimin says, keeping his comm open. Y/N shuts the door to the ship behind them, making it invisible. "Well, let's get this over with. You guys have your pistols?"
"Wouldn't leave home without it," Jungkook cheekily replies.
"Shut up Executive. Jagiya?"
"Always."
Jungkook snickers as he takes the lead, Jimin following. "I thought I was supposed to be leading, Executive," Jimin teases, peering at the walls not too far away.
"I have enhancements," Jungkook says. Then, he stops for a moment. "Oh..."
"Yeah, you're only alive because you don't have them, so don't get too upset," Jimin says, now taking the lead. "I got this Kook, don't worry. Just try to remember you don't have them. Last thing we need is you getting in a fight and being overconfident."
Jimin can feel the sadness radiating off of Jungkook, but he doesn't comment on it as they get closer to the city. There's several entrances, all heavily guarded. "How do we get in?" Jungkook whisper-asks.
"Look," Jimin says, pointing to the giant barracks right outside the dome-like city. "They're training soldiers, they're going in and out of the dome. We just have to wait and enter with a team of them."
The three of them approach, hearing the soft sound of machinery working. Jimin leads the way as a group of soldiers goes inside the dome, the door closing behind them. They'll have to wait for the next one. Only problem: that could take a while. "Strap in, keep your eyes sharp. Stay right near the door and please don't bump into anyone... cough Jungkook cough."
"Did you just say 'cough'?" Jungkook asks.
"Doesn't matter, my point still stands. Let's get near the door," Jimin says.
Regardless of Jimin's questionable choice of words, the small group goes up to the door, careful to stay far enough away from any guards. Jimin's breathing increases as the helmets the guards are wearing moves in their direction. He gulps, trying to keep his eyes on the door, but it's hard when it feels like he's being stared at from fourteen different people. This is a lot more difficult than he thought.
A whole excruciating minute passes, then, the door opens. Jimin didn't even realize a group of soldiers was coming near them until they almost bump into poor Y/N, who's standing on the end. Jimin goes forward, Jungkook and Y/N keeping up. They enter, moving to the side so the Martian soldiers can get inside. The door closes, and Jimin lets out a breath of relief.
"Part 1 done," he mutters, then, he looks around. His jaw drops.
Everything is so beautiful. Ganymede was a huge city, sure, but this? This is even bigger. Jimin can hear the ads, music, and laughter playing all around the place. The gigantic area is breathtaking to say the least. There's not a single building under ten stories tall. The amount of skyscrapers is honestly astonishing. And of course, dead ahead, at the center of the city is the palace. How Jimin knows? Well, it's the biggest building there is. It looks to be only one story unlike all the buildings around it, but still. It's enormous. It's width is probably as large as a damn battleship. A God damn battleship.
"The palace, it's beautiful," Y/N says. Jimin can't help but agree, keeping his mouth shut while he stares at the gold and white structure. It looks like something straight from those old legends. What were they, Greek legends? Myths? Jimin can't quite remember, but he was taught something about old Gods and Goddesses living in a palace back in grade school. Maybe this is what the Martians drew inspiration from. Regardless, they have leaders to assassinate, so Jimin doesn't dwell on it.
"Let's get moving. The quicker we kill their leaders, the quicker we go home. Good news is, looks like our suits are working. Would've been awkward if they weren't," Jimin says.
Y/N snickers. "Would have been even more awkward if they weren't and the other Martians just mistook us for soldiers."
Jungkook laughs, shaking his head. "Let's get moving you weirdos."
"Sir yes sir," Jimin teases, giving Jungkook a small salute before leading the way.
They strpll down the sidewalks which are... metal. Metal sidewalks. Alright then. There's flying cars soaring across both the sky and the roads. Looks like they have the really expensive cars in the sky and the moderately expensive cars on the ground. Huh, interesting. Earth has a similar system, but flying cars are rarer around Earth simply because of the supplies needed to make them. Higher ups have the flying cars. Truthfully, Jimin should have one. Apparently Alex Blaine has a flying motorcycle. Jimin would love to see that.
Jimin stares at the palace and sighs. As much as he hates to admit it, Mars has a point. Earth hasn't done much for the solar system. They stick to their own little bubble and forget about the rest of the solar system. Why hasn't Triton been helped yet? Are they scared of what they'll find? Why were Martians the first ones to touch down there? Y/N's father was the first, not Earth. Why not?
The thought scares Jimin, but it's still something he needs to have in the back of his head. Is Mars right? Can they do a better job? Jimin isn't sure if he wants to know the answer, but it's scary that they make sense. Maybe that's why Blaine wants the leaders dead. He doesn't want to kill them cause they're crazy, he wants to kill them cause they're making sense.
His eyes widen at the thought, but he keeps moving. The palace, it's not too much farther away. They'll have to sneak in and find the four leaders. Emeraude Yudiski, Xavier Ursul, Ansel Harper, and Commander Clementine. Those are the four they need to take out if they're going to win this war. The question is, will they all be in the same place? They need to get them almost all at once if this is going to work. As much as he hates to admit it, they may need to split up.
"I think we should take a day," Jimin says.
"Take a day?" Y/N asks.
"Yeah, as in take a day to scout, do the deed tomorrow. The more we know about the palace, the better. We should know the security measures, exits, even where all the closets are. This isn't a go in, shoot, and come out job. There's four leaders: we need to take them out all at once or at least close enough that none of the others are found dead. If even one body is found, the alive ones will be taken out of the building," Jimin explains.
Jungkook hums. "That's a good idea. Take the day to scout out the area, we have more than enough oxygen."
"A week's worth," Jimin mumbles, checking his settings. Even though the dome has oxygen, obviously they need their own supply so they can stay cloaked. "Jungkook, as soon as we're inside I want you to start a map. We'll walk around and mark all the offices and exits. I want to know every way of getting out of that place. As soon as we're ready, we'll make our plan as to how we'll kill all four of them without anyone noticing. At least not noticing until we're out of there."
Y/N and Jungkook hum in understanding. "What if not all of them are there?" Y/N asks.
"Then we kill who is. We can't scour the whole city to find one or two people. Killing even one of them gives us a huge advantage. I'd prefer all of them, but if one of them isn't at the palace, it's not a huge deal," Jimin replies. The main palace isn't too much farther. Actually, it's pretty close. The streets are busy with people, crowds laughing and talking. There's something about the sight that brings Jimin comfort.
Jimin peeks over at Jungkook, the tall boy glancing around at the people. He can't see his Executive's eyes, but he can tell that he's feeling nostalgic. This was his home once. He was one of those people in the crowd, laughing. Despite how Jungkook started at a young age, he still seemed to have a good childhood. He never talks bad about it. Not to mention his parents came to his wedding and when he was in the hospital, so they at least somewhat care. They seem like nice people, though Jimin didn't talk to them too much at the wedding. He was much more focused on his best friends and getting wasted.
The palace glimmers in the light, the building almost taunting them to come closer. Jimin sighs, instinctively grabbing the handle of his pistol to make sure it's there. "Be careful, we're getting close," he mutters, narrowing his eyes. This is it. As soon as they enter, they'll have to start their plan. There's not much more they can do other than hope this works out. Jimin looks between his two crewmates.
This is going to be a long day...
~1:15~
"Jace? What are you doing here?" Seulgi asks, raising a brow.
"I'm sorry, I know it's early, but I was told by Mr. Blaine to stop by and check on everyone after the departure of Commander Park."
Seulgi chuckles. "You don't have to be so formal. Trust me, I've been there, it doesn't help with anything."
"Alright... Seulgi."
"Seul," she corrects.
"Seul." He pauses. "Can I come in?"
Seulgi steps aside, allowing him to come inside the mansion. Her and Hoseok decided to stay the night since the crew needed to be together. The departure of Jungkook, Jimin, and Y/N has everyone nervous. "So he told you about what was happening?" Seulgi asks, closing the door behind him and locking it.
"Not the details, just that they're on a mission. I asked, but he wouldn't tell me. I don't think he trusts me yet. I can't blame him. Not like I need to know the details of the mission anyway since it doesn't involve me. Still, I hope I can earn his trust one day," Jace says.
She shrugs. "I think that's most leaders, right? They never trust anyone." She leads him towards the basement, where the rest of the crew is.
"He has a reason not to trust me though. I'm a Martian."
"So is Jungkook, but look how he turned out," Seul says.
"That's different, he bounced around from different places. I fought in the military."
Seulgi shoots him a sly smile before opening the basement door. "Trust me, no one holds it against you." Before he can go down, she places a hand on his shoulder. He turns back, raising a brow at her but not speaking. "Seriously, thank you for saving Hoseok's life. If it wasn't for you, part of my crew and my lover would have been dead."
"And you," he points out, causing her to chuckle.
"And me, but I'm not who's important. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to Hobi. You risked everything to stop that. Thank you."
He nods. "Like I said, the Moonchild crew inspired my planet, and even me. It's about time I joined the right side, don't you think?" As they trot down the stairs, Seulgi can't help but be curious.
"You think Earth is the right side?" she asks.
"Well, think about it. Who are the violent ones here? Who made the first act of war?" The first act of war was when the Hep blew up, and Mars blew up the Hep.
"That's a fair point," she says as they get to the ground.
The crew minus Sapphire and Yoongi are in the bar. They're out somewhere, Seulgi has no idea where they went, she didn't ask. They looked like they needed alone time. "If Mars wants change, there's other ways to do it. Going dark on comms, taking matters into their own hands, riots, and blowing up an innocent ship to pin it on Earth? Pardon my language, but that's fucked."
"The nerd curses," Seulgi teases.
"Sometimes," he teases back, giving her a small smile.
"The Martian's here," Jin calls as Seulgi and Jace enter the bar.
"Looks like everyone's okay, I'll tell Mr. Blaine that you're holding up," Jace says. He turns, but Seulgi reaches out and grabs his elbow.
"Stay," she says.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. You're welcome here at any time."
He sheepishly smiles. "I don't want to be a burden."
"Oh you're never a burden, if my girlfriend likes you, then you're good in my book too," Hoseok says.
Jace shoots him a grateful smile before sliding onto one of the bar stools. "What's on draft?" he asks in a joking manner.
"Pfft, I'm not Jimin, I don't know all that," Hoseok replies with a shrug, motioning to his glass. "I'm not even drinking."
"Water. Lame," Baekhyun halfheartedly says, staring at his phone.
Seulgi eyes him suspiciously. "So, Baekhyun... have anything you want to tell us?"
The man pretends he isn't flustered. "Uh, I have no idea what you're talking about." Seulgi snatches his phone from him, making the Pilot pout. "Hey! Give it back!"
Seulgi peeks down at it, snickering once she sees what's on his screen. "Really?"
"What? What is it?" Anya asks, leaning closer.
"He's stalking the girl he slept with that one time. Aurora." She shows the screen to Anya, who laughs.
"Really? Didn't you say she was just a hookup?" Anya asks.
Baekhyun takes his phone back, shaking his head. "She was!"
"Yet you're stalking her," Jin says, sipping on the liquid in his glass.
"Jin, you were there that night, was she just a hookup?" Tae asks.
"Ah yes, the night of the bachelor party. No, she definitely wasn't. They were talking all night. If they were only going to fuck, they would have left as soon as they laid their eyes on each other."
"Redheads, am I right?" Baekhyun replies dreamily.
"Oh. My. God. Baekhyun has a crush!" Anya says in a squeal, nudging the poor man. Huh, who knew Anya was a Cupid?
"No I don't I just... think she's pretty."
"Oh yeah, that's the look of a man with a crush," Seulgi says. "Alright, if you found her on Twitter, why not follow her and message her?"
"I'm only following one person."
"Jimin?" Seulgi asks, and he nods.
"I'd like to keep it that way. The last thing I want to do is bring unwanted attention to her. It looks like she only has a Twitter to retweet art."
"Art?" Seul asks.
"Yeah. Paintings and stuff."
Seulgi taps her finger against her chin. "Does she follow you?"
Baekhyun goes quiet for a moment. "Maybe," he mutters.
"So that's a yes," Jin cheekily replies, teasing Baekhyun even more.
"Alright, you know what, I'm being bullied here and I don't like it."
"It's only because we love you. You should definitely go for it, she seems like a sweet girl," Hoseok says.
Seulgi hums. "I agree."
"High five!" Seulgi and Hoseok high five, leaving the others sitting there, confused.
"You two are weird," Tae says.
"I've been here for less than five minutes and I agree," Jace says.
Seulgi sighs. "Yeah, you get used to it. To be fair, this entire crew is pretty weird. Tae around Jungkook is... interesting, to say the least. It could be worse, Jimin and Y/N could be here. If they were here, we'd be listening to them flirting all night."
Hoseok shivers. "If I have to hear one more sex joke..."
"Something tells me you secretly like them," Baekhyun says, pointing a finger at Hoseok.
"Do not," he grumbles, looking down.
"That's a yes," Jin says.
"No one asked you, Jin," Seulgi says with a scoff.
"I'm older than you. Respect your elders."
"It's not by that much, Jinnie. Don't get too cocky."
Hoseok stares at them with an emotionless expression. "This was supposed to be a wholesome moment, but no. Had to be ruined by Jin."
"What? My worldwide handsome face should be making things better, not worse."
Jace winces. "Did he just call himself... worldwide handsome?"
"It's what I am," Jin says, running a hand through his hair.
"Anyway, can we get Baekhyun a date already?" Seulgi interrupts, looking around the crew expectantly.
"Oh God, why me-"
"Definitely. In honor of my husband, I will play Cupid," Tae cutely says, taking the phone out of Baekhyun's hands.
"Wow," he mutters, frowning and leaning back in his stool.
"You'll thank us later," Seulgi says. Seulgi snickers as she peeks over Tae's shoulder, glancing at the girl's profile. "Oh, she's really cute. I thought redheads had no souls though."
"Ha," Baekhyun blankly replies.
"Let me say what Yoongi would say... ahem... 'you don't need red hair to be soulless'," Jin mimics, putting on a dull expression.
"He sounded somewhat like Yoongi," Hoseok says, staring at the older man in shock.
"Ahh I'm Yoongi, I'm boring and lazy."
"He's definitely lazy, but boring? He won't be that boring when he's kicking your ass," Seulgi says.
"He threatens me all the time but hasn't done anything yet, I'm starting to think it won't happen," Jin replies, softly smirking.
"Cockiness will be your downfall, babe," Anya says with a sigh. "And honestly, if he goes for you, I'm getting out of the way."
"What?!"
"This is the strangest night I've had in a while," Jace murmurs.
"You'll get used to us. We're kind of..."
"Crazy," Hoseok finishes, Seulgi nodding in agreement.
"Very. Maybe a little too much, but we bounce off each other well, right guys?" Seulgi asks. Taehyung wordlessly nods, keeping his eyes on Baekhyun's phone. Clearly he's doing some stalking on this 'Aurora' girl.
"Oh shit," Tae says, eyes nearly bursting out of his head.
Everyone turns to him. "You okay?" Seul asks.
"Hell yeah! Jin, you said you have a worldwide handsome face, but this girl has a worldwide ass. Bro, this is amazing, look at those glutes!" He turns the screen around, showing off the picture of Aurora. It's nothing special, it's just a picture of her walking away from someone, her head turned over her shoulder as she gives the camera a small smile.
"Damn," Jin says.
"Um, excuse me?" Anya asks, glaring right at the side of her boyfriend's head.
"Damn that's such a shame that her ass isn't as big as Anya's," Jin corrects, gulping.
"That's what I thought," she grumbles, averting her eyes from the picture. She has a cute, teasing smile on her face at Jin's flustered nature. Uh huh, he's totally whipped for that girl. It's pretty adorable to be completely honest. At least someone can tame Jin.
"Well, as fun as this has been, it's like one in the morning, shouldn't everyone be sleeping?" Jace asks.
"Booo! Buzzkill!" Hoseok whines.
"Sorry, sorry, I just don't want anyone to suffer from sleep deprivation."
"Know the feeling?" Seul asks, and he hums.
"All too well. As a teen, I never slept. Three hours a day at most. Not because I was busy, just because I didn't want to."
Baekhyun lets out a 'pffft' noise. "Are all Martians as strange as you?" he asks.
"I'd like to think I'm a... special case."
"Oh you're special alright," Seulgi teases, nudging his shoulder.
Jace chuckles. "Thank you for accepting me, but I really should get going. You guys better take care of yourselves and actually sleep tonight, alright?"
"Yes mom," Jin replies dramatically.
"You're the most mom-like out of any of us, shush!" Seulgi says, playfully whacking the man's arm.
"Ow," he says, holding the spot Seulgi smacked.
"You deserved it," Hoseok says.
"Why you-"
"Alright, that's my cue to leave," Jace interrupts, hopping up.
He slightly bows and bids his goodbyes to the crew before turning and strolling away, going for the stairs. Seulgi watches closely, then, she sighs. "I'll be right back," she murmurs before standing and rushing after him. She catches up to him just in time, seeing as he's at the front door. "Jace!" she calls, stopping once she's only a few feet away from him. He turns, raising a brow.
"Everything okay, Miss Ka- I mean, Seul?"
She offers him a smile. "I wanted to properly say goodnight. You've been too kind to us."
"As I've always said, it's the least I can do."
Seulgi leans back on the balls of her feet. "Your brother, have you found him yet?"
Jace sighs, scratching the back of his head. "I doubt I will. With all this madness and most civilians living in bunkers, the odds of finding him are really low. Maybe one day, when all of this is over but for now I guess I'm alone," he says, a twinge of sorrow resting inside his tone.
Seulgi frowns, stepping closer. "You're not alone. You have all of us, you know that, right?"
He softly smiles. "You say I've been too kind, but really that's been you. Why? It's not because I saved you, is it? Please don't feel like you have to-"
"Jace," she interrupts. He shuts up, letting her speak. "Every member of this crew was brought in because we want to help people. We want new friends. New family. You could be part of that, if you let us bring you in."
For a moment, he goes still, his eyes widening. He almost looks... sad. "That's probably not a good idea. But thank you. Thank you for everything, and if you ever need help, let me know." He nods, her eyes filling up with shock.
"Wait-" But it's too late, he already walked out the door. Seulgi stares at the spot he just was, confused as hell. Why won't he stay with the crew? She lets out a small breath, locking the door again.
Jace Einhorn, who the hell are you?
~1:20~
Sapphire paces back and forth, looking at her notes. "So. let's get this right, he's from Mars but we can't find anything else?" she asks.
Yoongi nods. "All I'm saying is, we should be careful." He pulls up another screen on his hologlobe.
"He saved Seulgi's life, why?" she can't help but ask.
"Your guess is as good as mine." She lets out a huff, stopping her movements to instead look at him. "Are you okay? You seem... preoccupied."
"I always am."
She sadly smiles. "You should relax, dear. You need to take time for yourself too."
"I'll rest once I know he's safe around our friends."
Sapphire heads over, sitting on the bed next to him. "Yoons, look at me." He doesn't, making her sigh. She places a hand on his shoulder, the other hand leaning down and turning off the hologlobe. "Hey," she whispers.
He lets out a breath, then finally meets her eyes. As soon as their eyes lock, Sapphire's air leaves her body for a moment. Whenever he's like this, quiet, vulnerable; she feels a strange sensation in her heart. He trusts her enough to let his guard down around her. That's an amazing feeling. She may be a scientist, but she still doesn't know how the hell she scored him. No data supports it. She's not good enough for him, but she still has him for some reason.
"You've been way too hard on yourself. They're safe. Jace is a good guy, okay?" He averts his eyes, making her pout. "Keep looking at me." Yoongi hesitates but obeys, again meeting her eyes. "I wouldn't lie to you, you know that?" He nods. "You've been training Y/N, losing sleep doing research on this 'Jace' guy, and now since Jimin, Jungkook, and Y/N are gone, you're going to have to step up and be leader. You've sacrificed a lot for your friends, and they appreciate it, but they'd tell you the same thing I'm telling you."
"And what are you telling me?" he asks, genuinely curious.
"Sleep. Please," she says.
"If I sleep, will you stay with me?"
"Of course I will. I'll stay whenever you want me to, okay?" Yoongi bites his lower lip, then nods. He takes the hologlobe and places it on his nightstand, motioning for her to come closer. She does. She lays down next to him, resting her head on his chest.
He absentmindedly plays with her hair, twirling a few strands around his long fingers. "You're such a strong man, you know that?" He doesn't speak, so she keeps going. "Despite everything you've been through, you still love your friends and trust others. How the hell you didn't just shut down after your fucked up childhood, I don't know. But you pushed through and became the best person I know."
"I'm not better than you," he mutters.
She looks up, their eyes locking. "Yeah, Yoons. Yeah, you are."
"How?"
"Look at yourself. Look at what you've been through and what you've done for others. You think you're selfish, but you're not. You're quite the opposite."
"But you're still better," he says.
She shakes him off. "This isn't about me. It's about you and how much you've done. Please, take a moment and think about it. Think about how much you've accomplished." He obeys her, going quiet to think. After a minute of silence, she softly smiles. "See?"
He returns her soft smile. "Okay, maybe I've done a few good things."
"A few? My lord, you're stubborn."
"I try." She kisses his jawline, softly chuckling as she adjusts her position. She goes back on his chest, closing her eyes. There's a few minutes of silence, then, a question pops into her head.
"You're the one with intelligence enhancements. What do your enhancements think about Jace?" she asks.
Yoongi stays quiet for a few beats, then, he sighs. "That's just the thing, Saph. They don't know. That's what scares me the most."
Sapphire frowns. "Maybe that's for the best?"
"How so?"
"Sometimes people come from fucked up places and do fucked up things. Maybe he's done a lot he regrets and now he's trying to make up for it. Who knows. The only thing we know is that he saved Seulgi."
Yoongi holds her tighter. "Do you trust him?"
"I trust ten people and you're seven of them."
"The other three?"
"Anya, Jimin, and Jungkook."
"Not the rest of the crew?" he asks.
She chuckles. "I love them, I'm just not the best with trust. I only trust Jimin and Jungkook because they're my commanding officers. If they weren't, I wouldn't trust them."
"What about Taehyung?"
She purses her lips and considers it. "I trust all of the crew to a certain extent, but not fully, I guess." She sniffles. "I'm sorry, I know I probably should."
"It's okay, you don't need to apologize for having your own thoughts and feelings."
"But we're family, I should trust my family," she murmurs.
"After Alice, I'm sure it's hard to have any trust." Sapphire goes stiff in his arms, her eyes shooting open as she thinks of her ex best friend. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up."
"No, it's okay. There's a good example of trust. You and Anya are the only two I trust enough to talk about it with."
"Really?"
"Really. Alice was my best friend. She was my partner in crime for years. I really thought she was my best friend for life. Everything was so perfect, you know? Anya and Alice were together and I was constantly third wheeling. We always made so many jokes about it. Life was so much fun." She smiles at her memories. "We went to Alice's favorite diner once a week. Drank a strawberry milkshake. Yep, that's right, all three of us sharing a dumb ass milkshake once a week. Every time we were laughing and having fun, but then she..." Sapphire breaks off, holding back tears.
"I don't get it, why would she do that to you?" he asks.
"I don't know, I wish I did. She cast us aside like we were nothing. Like we were less than nothing," she says, her voice coming out as a whisper.
He rubs her back soothingly, rubbing circles against her shirt. "It wasn't your fault, you know that, right?"
She looks down, refusing to meet his eyes. "I could have stopped it."
"You couldn't have known."
"But I could have tried harder. She killed thousands. Thousands. Maybe more. She was my best friend and I noticed nothing. Not a single change in her behavior. What kind of person does that make me?" she asks.
"Listen, Saph. There was nothing more you could have done. And I'll say it again, I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
She shakes him off. "It wasn't your secret to tell."
"But she was your best friend, not mine."
Sapphire dryly chuckles. "Still wasn't your secret. If Kai didn't even know, why would I?"
"I shouldn't have kept it from you."
"You didn't have much choice. I don't hold it against you," she says. Yoongi goes quiet for a moment, causing her to look up. "Hey, I love you, okay?"
He softly smiles, a bit of his gummy smile coming out. "I love you too. Please be careful."
"If I can handle Pluto and Ganymede, I can handle this too."
Sapphire sits up, hovering over him for a moment. She meets his eyes, then, goes down and kisses him. He instantly kisses back, his hands lowering her back onto his body. When they kiss, their passion spews out through their actions. Their lips hit, and the whole world melts away. Sapphire moves rapidly, needy for more, and he grants her pleas. Before she even knows what's happening, the kiss is escalating to something much different. He switches positions with her, him now holding her down. Yoongi draws back, fluttering his eyes open and slightly panting. "Take it away," she murmurs.
He stares at her with longing. "Take what away?"
