Fire and Blood

~The Next Day || 12:00~

"Three of the four Martian leaders were found dead yesterday afternoon in their palace, all in their offices. The security camera footage is absolutely incredible. Vents and doors moving on their own, guards being knocked out, and even Y/N L/N wandering around the halls. The common theory is that Park Jimin and Y/N L/N were behind this attack. Whether or not this was sanctioned from Earth or not is unknown; however, it's clear that they had some type of help. There's some sort of new advanced tech they were using. Cloaked armor."

The crew claps, proud of their friends for succeeding. Alex Blaine stops the newsfeed, swiping it away. "As much as I wish this was a moment to celebrate, we're in a code red situation." The crew goes still, staring at the man expectantly. "Mars is preparing for a war. I don't know how long we have, but within the week, they'll be here, fighting us with everything they have. The next time we see them, it'll be the last battle for the war." Baekhyun's eyes widen at that. "Jace, I suspect this is the mission that will solidify your loyalty to us."

Jace dips his head. "I'll do my best, sir."

Alex stands, sighing. "We have to gear up. We don't know when they'll land or where. The entire world is going to be under attack, and this won't end until one side fully loses." Baekhyun gulps. Great, this is going well already. Is Aurora safe? Of course that's his first thought. She was staying with her family, the ones who refused to go in the bunker despite the military pleading with them. Apparently her family is very stubborn. He hopes she's safe right now, or at least out of the city.

"I truly believe this is it, the end of the war," Alex says.

"Well, on the bright side, at least it didn't take long," Sapphire replies. As much as he hates to admit it, she's right. It would have been so much worse if this took years.

Alex shrugs. "Earth and Mars have been going back and forth for almost a full year now, but yes, I guess that's not too long all things considered." Yeah, technically the war started when the Hep blew up, which was almost a year ago now. Jesus, that's insane to think about.

Baekhyun fiddles with his fingers, nervous for what's to come. How can he not be? This whole thing is insane to him. "Gear up and be ready to fight. We're hoping Jimin, Jungkook, and Y/N return any minute now. The trip from here to Mars isn't exactly very long anymore. I wonder why they're not back yet," Alex says. Baekhyun gulps down his fear. They're fine, they have to be fine, right?

Despite everything he's thinking, he nods with the rest of his crew, their temporary Captain leading them out of the room. As soon as the door closes behind them, Baekhyun turns to Yoongi. "So uh, any idea why they're not back yet if the leaders were killed yesterday?"

Yoongi sighs, shaking his head. "I hope it's nothing, but it's possible they had a hard time getting out. It's possible they're still on Mars."

Baekhyun hates that idea. Jimin, Jungkook, and Y/N deserve to come home and relax already. Lord knows they need and deserve a break. Maybe a drink or two. Jimin and Y/N in particular have been through enough these last few weeks. Let's see: Jimin was chipped, killed Chaeyoung, went on trial, got the death penalty, just barely survived, had to watch his fiancée collapse from poison, and had to sit by her side while she was weak in the hospital. That's only the last few weeks. That poor man.

They trot down the hall, going into the main area. The crew stays together, many of the workers in the area nodding and bowing to them in respect. Baekhyun returns their gestures. "Why are they like... worshipping us?" Baekhyun whisper-asks Yoongi, who shrugs.

"We're popular I guess. You're the one with thirty million Twitter followers, aren't you?"

"Yeah, I guess that's true. You should start a Twitter."

Yoongi scrunches up his face in disgust. "No thanks. I'd rather not see what people are tweeting about Sapphire."

"Or Jimin. Oh God, the thirst tweets are out of control and they think we never see them. We do. We see a lot of them. If I see one more person asking Jimin to step on their esophagus, I might throw a tantrum."

"That's very specific. Step on their esophagus. Interesting. Clearly they've never been stepped on before. It's not pleasant."

Baekhyun turns to look at Yoongi as they exit the building, disgust on his face. "Great, now I know that Yoongi isn't into being stepped on. Didn't need to know that," Baekhyun says.

"Yeah, I've stepped on him a few times. It was on accident... mostly. Long story short, he didn't enjoy it," Sapphire says, skipping next to Yoongi.

"Anyway," Baekhyun mutters, approaching all their cars. They have plenty, pretty much one for each couple. Baekhyun has his own even though he prefers ships, so he goes over to it. "See you guys back at the mansion?" he asks them, and most of the crew replies positively. So, he plops down in his car, closing the door, and strapping himself in. He grabs his phone, looking to see Aurora texted him. He smiles like an idiot as he replies to her cute little 'good morning' message. As soon as he shuts off his phone, he starts his car, humming to himself as he pulls out of the parking lot.

He drives and drives, playing some stupid pop songs on the radio, him jamming out to them as he goes down the familiar path to the mansion. Admittedly, he hits some high notes even while driving. Oh yeah, he's got a nice voice. He's confident with it. Those high notes are pretty sweet. He smirks to himself as the drive comes to an end, him pulling up to the mansion first.

Some cars come up behind him as he parks in the garage, taking his spot and making sure everything's good before turning off the car. He replies to Aurora again, smiling as he jumps out of the car, barely looking where he's going as his fingers fly across his digital keyboard. He keeps humming, practically skipping to the door, Yoongi opening it for him.

"Someone's happy," Yoongi says. Baekhyun hums louder, not taking his eyes off his phone.

"No, someone's in love, there's a difference," Sapphire says.

Baekhyun gets flustered, finally averting his eyes from his screen to instead look at Sapphire. "I'll have you know I like her, but I don't love her. Let's not jump the gun."

"Uh huh," she says with a snort. Baekhyun shoots her a playful glance before going inside the mansion, practically running to the basement.

As soon as he gets there, he plops on the couch, inspired. Something he's picked up in his free time: writing. He likes to write documents about the crew's adventures and post them on Twitter. They're so much fun to write and edit, and apparently the public loves reading them. So, he keeps doing it. Except this time, this document won't be an adventure. In fact, he won't even mention his crew. For the first time in a long, long time, he's going to write about himself. All his feelings.

With a sigh and a grin, he starts to type...

~13:44~

She keeps one hand on his cheek, him staring into her eyes as the past few days wash over him. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," he mutters, placing both his tiny hands on her cheeks.

"You did what you had to do, okay? You found me, that's what matters."

Jimin's eyes are clouded by tears. "But... I tortured those people. I killed them."

"And because of that, I'm safe and alive. If you didn't do what you did, if you were seconds later, I would have lost a finger. Maybe more. Maybe whole limbs. What you did was justified, you hear me?" she says.

Jimin keeps Y/N in the corner of their small ship, out of earshot of Jungkook. He's sitting in his chair, recording as much data as possible from the Martians. After the whole palace incident, Jimin has felt bad. Actually, bad is an understatement. He's felt absolutely terrible. He tortured and killed two people. Granted, they were assholes who probably deserved it, but that doesn't make it any better. He still killed two people.

"I killed them," he murmurs, looking down. She doesn't reply. She keeps one hand on his face.

"You saved me, Min," she whispers, gently brushing her thumb across his bloody cheek. "Thank you," she adds, finally causing him to look up. Their eyes meet, him letting out a shaky breath.

"I love you."

She smiles. "I love you too. Please, don't beat yourself up too much over this. You had to do it. I... I would have done the same thing."

That definitely shocks him. Y/N L/N, the one who hates killing, who only does it if she absolutely has to: she would have tortured two Martians to find Jimin? The thought makes him feel slightly better, but only slightly. Killing is never okay, even if it's justified. It isn't something he shouldn't lose sleep over. No matter his reasons, he still took two lives. He took them away from their families if they had any, he took away any chances they had, any opportunities. Not to mention he killed a Martian leader and guards too. Wow, this war is just wonderful, isn't it?

"Hey, focus on me here, okay?" Jimin nods, obeying her. "Kiss me," she says, and he gives in. Their rough lips meet, the small action comforting Jimin. This is what he needed after that long, horrible mission. She holds him close, taking charge in their kiss. He allows it, kissing her slowly while letting her work her magic. After a few more seconds of her dominating their kiss, she pulls back.

"It's okay, Min. It's really okay," she whispers, rubbing his soft skin. Although he really doesn't believe her, he decides to back off.

"Alright... okay, I believe you."

After a few more seconds of staring, she motions to the main area of the ship. "We should probably get back to our posts, yeah?" she says. Truthfully, he doesn't want to move, but he knows he has to. So he sighs and agrees.

Together, the engaged couple head back to their seats, plopping down and peering at their screens once again. "Anything new, Kook?" Jimin asks, strapping in.

"Not in the slightest. Everything okay?" Jungkook asks, hesitant.

Jimin dryly chuckles. "Not at all, but we'll make it through. Did you gather all the data you could?"

"Getting there. It looks like there's hundreds of ships. I don't know how Earth can take out that many, especially with their new weapon. I'm detecting a mass of metal on one of the ships, I'm guessing that's the flagship and its weapon."

"Is it possible to destroy it?" Jimin asks.

"I wish I could tell you, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough." That thought scares him, but he doesn't voice his concerns.

"Alright, then let's settle in. Not like we have to be anywhere anytime soon, our mission is complete," Jimin mumbles.

"I'll try to speed up, I kind of want to go home." Jimin can't help but agree with Jungkook as he closes his eyes, trying to get a little bit of rest.

Obviously, he hasn't slept much these past two days. Being in foreign territory isn't exactly comfortable. Jimin has never felt so worried in his life. The two people who mean the most to him are in this ship. If he messes up even a little, one of them could get hurt or worse: die. Y/N almost did. It seems at every turn, something goes wrong. They have to change their plans drastically to fit their mission. It's getting frustrating, but at the same time, something this big isn't going to be easy.

Jimin manages to get a few minutes of peace and quiet, but he's interrupted by an alarm beeping. He groans, opening his tired eyes. "What now?" Jimin asks, his voice low.

"Uh... sir, look at your monitor," Jungkook says.

Jimin rubs his eyelids, obeying his Executive's request. He blinks a few times, reading the data. "What's this?" Jimin asks, not fully understanding what his screen is telling him.

"Sir, it's Mars."

"What about them?"

"They're taking off."

Jimin snaps his head over to look at Jungkook. "What?!" Y/N flinches at Jimin's loud tone, causing him to frown. "Sorry, Jagi. What?" he repeats, this time softer.

"They're taking off. All their cloaked ships, the readings are showing that they're starting to leave the ground."

"Shit, Y/N, get us back home, now! We need to warn them!"

"We're in comm range," Jungkook says, but Jimin shakes him off.

"To make a comm to Earth, we'd have to reveal our position. We'd get shot down right away. If we even give them a minute to prepare it's worth it, now go, hurry!"

Y/N obeys, starting the main thrusters. Almost all at once, the weight is added. She punches it, not giving them any time to think as his back slams against the chair. He gasps at the contact, gritting his teeth as he squeezes his eyes shut. "ETA five minutes, hang in there guys," Y/N says, keeping her hands on the controls. How the hell can she fly when there's this much pressure against them? He doesn't even want to think about that.

The five minutes is hell to say the least. Jimin's counting sheep, trying to pass the time, but it still takes what feels like an eternity. As they get closer, she gradually loses speed, adjusting her course so they don't burn up in the atmosphere. "Alright, reducing speed. We're entering the atmosphere now," she says, pulling back on the yoke. Jimin sucks in a deep breath as the pressure is removed from his chest, feeling like he can actually move again.

She takes them closer to the surface, uncloaking the ship. As if reading Jimin's mind, she opens a comm to Alex Blaine. Almost instantly, he replies. "Hello? Commander Park?" his voice asks.

"Mr. Blaine! You need to get ready! If our scans are correct, Mars is on their way here right now with everything they've got! Including that new weapon!" Jimin says, holding his armrests tightly.

"Understood, dock as fast as you can and get to your crew, they're waiting for you at the mansion."

Jimin nods even though the Administer can't see him. "Got it, we'll be there soon."

Y/N cuts the comm, focusing on her flying. "Fuck this reentry is being a bitch," she says in a grunt, clenching her jaw as she works.

"Take your time, I don't feel like dying," Jimin jokes, trying to ease some of the tension. It doesn't work, but it was worth a try. After a few more minutes, they successfully land. "Alright boys and girls, get ready, we have Martians on the way," Jimin mutters, unbuckling. Jungkook and Y/N do the same, standing. Jungkook opens the door, the three piling out of the ship, uncloaking it.

Jimin peeks up at the sky, his mouth falling open. "I don't think we can get to the crew," Y/N mutters. Jimin swings his AR forward, clicking off the safety.

"No... no, I don't think we can."

Up in the sky are Martian ships about to land...

~14:05~

"What do you mean 'Mars is landing all over Earth'?!"

Seulgi paces back and forth, keeping her comm on her. "Their ships, they're uncloaked! Comm Mr. Blaine, I'm sure he's seeing the same thing!" Y/N's frantic voice replies.

"Fuck. Okay, I'm on it. I know this is hardly the time for it, but I'm really glad you're safe."

Y/N sighs. "I am too, it's good to be back but we need to move fast. I don't think we can get to you in time, hopefully we'll meet up in battle."

"I hope so. Good luck," Seulgi says before turning off her comm. Before she can even do anything, her comm chimes. "Mr. Blaine? Is that you?"

"Yes, did your friends make it back to you yet?"

"No, they just landed, Y/N filled me in. Are there really Martians coming at us?!"

"Yes! Lots of them! More than I've ever seen. They have a weapon, they're pointing it at us. I'm sending every last ship I have up there to deal with it. This is it, this is the last battle for Earth," Mr. Blaine says.

The words send chills down Seulgi's body, her teeth clattering at the thought. "What can we do?"

"Get to the Moonchild, last time you guys were able to make them retreat, maybe you can do it again."

Seulgi hums. "Alright, I'll tell the crew and Commander Park to meet us there. Thank you, sir. Please stay safe."

"I will, you too." The comm shuts off, so Seulgi sighs and goes for Y/N one last time.

"Hello?" Y/N's voice calls.

"Meet us at the Moon! We need to get up into the sky to go after that weapon!" Seulgi replies.

"On it, we'll be there soon."

The comm cuts, so Seulgi jumps out of the kitchen. "Code red assholes!" she screams, very easily alerting the rest of the mansion. Soon enough, the rest of the crew comes stumbling into the main area, standing at attention in front of Seulgi. "Jungkook, Jimin, and Y/N are back and alright, but there's a slight issue."

"Slight?" Yoongi asks.

"Slight. Gear up. Mars is landing on Earth."

"Oh you have to be shitting me, it's a damn Saturday," Sapphire whines.

"Invasions are supposed to wait until Tuesday," Anya says.

"What? Tuesday?" Jin asks.

"Well no one ever does anything on Tuesday's! It's like a way to catch us when we're being lazy!" Anya says.

"Anyway," Seulgi interrupts. "Gear up. Get to the barracks. We're going to war."

"Are they here yet?" Jin asks.

"I don't get paid enough to know the answer to that question. Baekhyun, get ready to fly, we're heading to the Moon. The goal is to join the rest of the Earth military up in the sky. We need to make sure they don't break through even more than they possibly already have. Come on, we don't have much time."

At Seulgi's command, everyone gets ready. They grab their comms, strapping them around their wrists. Hoseok and Anya grab their familiar medkits, tying them onto their utility belts. On a mission like this, they probably need all the medical supplies they can get. As soon as everyone is ready, Seulgi nods.

"Let's go, get in your cars, we're getting to the barracks to gear up then we get to the Moon. Let's hurry." Almost immediately, the crew agrees. They take off, getting in their cars and driving as fast as they can.

In record time, they make it to the main barracks, practically jumping out of their cars. They meet up again, rushing inside. "Grab some extra for our three musketeers, they probably don't have much ammo left," Seulgi says.

"On it," Sapphire says, strapping extra supplies onto her belt. Hoseok, Taehyung, and Anya grab an extra AR for the three not with them, Seulgi taking some grenades for everyone just in case.

There's military men storming around the tight hallways, but they don't pay the crew any mind. Seulgi doesn't even glance in their direction as she straps in, making sure she has everything before turning to her comrades. "Do we have everything?"

"Just doing a double check, Captain," Jin replies, checking himself before checking everyone else. Seulgi helps in the process, noticing how everyone has a lot of ammo. Like, a lot. They really are ready for this war.

"We're ready, Capt," Yoongi says, glancing around at everyone one last time. Hoseok stands right next to Seulgi, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Are you ready for this?" Hoseok whisper-asks.

She gives him a determined look. "I have to be. I'm going to do whatever it takes to get us through this. I don't care if I have to scream at everyone four times, I'll do it. This mission is way too important."

"It's the end of the war," Hoseok mutters, and she nods in agreement.

Seulgi has accepted the fact that she's going to do things she'll regret today. She'll kill one too many, be too aggressive, say things she doesn't mean, but that's the price of war. This is probably the last battle of the war, how are they supposed to do this without doing things they'll regret? Of course she's nervous about that and doesn't want to do it, but sacrifices must be made for Earth. She has to survive if the crew is to survive.

"Let's get moving, we don't know how much time we have," Seulgi says. The crew follows her orders, departing the barracks. "Hoseok, with me for a moment, I need to talk to you about our plan," Seulgi adds, pulling Hoseok off to the side. "Stay here, we'll be right back with a good plan," Seulgi calls to the crew. They're confused but don't complain as they rush away, out of earshot of the others.

"So, plan?" Hoseok asks, raising a brow.

"Getting to the Moonchild will be hard even with cars. Do you have a map of the area on you?"

Hoseok shakes his head. "Jungkook would, I don't."

Seulgi crosses her arms across her chest. "My comm had to be fixed after our last battle, my map had to be cleared." She brings it up. "I only have half the area marked. I really really hope Jungkook has something."

Hoseok nods, then, he points to the map. "The main hangar isn't too far, we can go straight for it using this path." Seulgi follows his finger as he swipes it, the path to the hangar marked. It's their best path. She only hopes it's fast. With that, she sighs.

"That's our best option..."

~14:16~

Yoongi turns just in time to see a tall man strutting towards them. No like, really tall. He's over six feet, that's for sure. Seulgi pulled Hoseok off to the side, but it's not a big deal, they can handle this by themselves. Yoongi stands tall as the man approaches, the entire crew now seeing him. As soon as the man stops, Yoongi notices he seems to be a decorated soldier. Based on his patches, Yoongi thinks this might be the Admiral, but he doesn't know for sure (he doesn't care either).

"How can we help you?" Yoongi asks, his entire crew standing behind him.

"What is your business here?" the man asks back, his voice low and booming. The sound echoes through the entire crew, but no one falters. They all stand tall, glaring down the intruder.

"We're the Moonchild crew, sir. We're waiting for our commanding officers to come back with a plan."

The man nods, observing the crew. "The Moonchild crew. Interesting." He scans them up and down, then clicks his tongue. "I thought you would be taller."

"I'm sorry, have we met?" Sapphire asks, stepping forward. Yoongi smirks. That's his girl.

"No, we haven't. My name is-"

"That's what I thought," she interrupts. "Now if you'll excuse us, as you can tell we're in the middle of a crisis, we need to get back to discussing our plan." Damn Sapphire. Yoongi may or may not have a boner.

The man's left eye twitches. "No need, the plan is simple. We hold our ground here. The Martians have almost touched down, we need to hold the line." Sapphire scoffs, gaining the attention of the man. "What?" he asks, a hint of venom in his tone.

Yoongi steps closer. "I'm sorry, we can't comply with those orders."

"Excuse me?"

"With all due respect, we take orders from Commander Park Jimin, and Commander Park Jimin only. He's our commanding officer," Yoongi says. He pauses for a moment, showing the man his small smirk. "Not you."

Taehyung comes up behind Yoongi, investigating the disturbance just as the man clears his throat. "If you let me finish before, you'd know that I'm Admiral Eli. Second in command to the Earth military."

Taehyung dryly chuckles. "Okay, and?"

"So I'm giving you orders."

"You said second in command, right?" He nods. "Care to remind us who's first?" Tae asks. The Admiral's eye twitches again. "You're not our commanding officer, our orders come from Park Jimin. What he says goes. As of right now, our mission is to head to the Moonchild to meet him there. If anything, maybe you should be the one taking orders from Commander Park. He is your superior officer, is he not?" Admiral Eli clenches his jaw but doesn't reply.

"Is there an issue over here?" Seulgi asks, coming back over with Hoseok.

"Where is Commander Park?" the Admiral asks, completely disregarding Seulgi's question.

"On his way with two of our crewmembers to the Moonchild, why?"

"Your crewmates seem to think they can disobey me. Commander Park isn't present, so they take orders from me."

Seulgi laughs. "Are you serious? Commander Park is the only superior officer we take orders from. We're on direct order from Commander Park and Alex Blaine to get to the Moonchild as fast as possible. If you want to comm Mr. Blaine and ask him yourself, go right ahead."

The Admiral grits his teeth. Power hungry asshole. Yoongi is enjoying watching his crew put him in his place. "Let's go, we don't have time for this. Take this up with the Administer, not me. I don't get paid enough to deal with your whiny ass," Seulgi says, brushing him off. Sapphire smirks, walking in-step with Seulgi over to their cars.

Taehyung gives the man a shrug. "Good luck down here, Admiral. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask Commander Park," Tae says.

Yoongi and Tae walk away in-sync, disregarding the Admiral's existence. What is it with Earth and having shitty leaders? It seems like they only have two good ones. Yoongi doesn't have time to dwell on it, but they lost a lot of time having to argue with that man. "Listen up, we're sending a path to you. Drive down it, it's the fastest route we can find to the Moonchild. Stay on course, keep your comms on. We're winning this battle, but we're winning it carefully," Seulgi says.

"Yes ma'am," Jin and Baekhyun reply in-sync.

As soon as they enter their cars again, they start them up, the path being sent to their comms. Yoongi puts it on his dash, observing the line drawn from their position to the Moonchild. Yoongi changes the frequency on his comm, pressing it. "Jimin, check in. How close are you?"

"Almost there, ETA two minutes."

"Alright, wait for us, we're five minutes out," Yoongi says.

"Yoongi giving me orders? I like it," Jimin cheekily replies.

"In the middle of the most serious battle in Earth's history, yet you're acting like this," Yoongi says with a sigh.

"You should be used to it by now. Love ya, Yoons."

Yoongi shakes his head as Sapphire enters the car, buckling up. "I'm not saying it back."

"You should," Jimin says, and even from over the comm, Yoongi can hear a whine in Jimin's voice.

"Why?"

"I'll love you more if you do."

Yoongi blinks. "I don't want that."

Yoongi can practically hear Jimin's offended look. "You're demoted."

"Sure," Yoongi blankly replies. "We'll see you there. Please, Jimin. Wait for us."

"On it." The comm clicks off, so Yoongi changes it to the main frequency shared between the crew, keeping it on. He starts his car, the thing humming to life underneath him as he follows Seulgi out of the barracks area. Together, the crew drives down the line marked on their map.

Five minutes. They're five minutes away. Yoongi prays Jimin waits for them, they need to do this together. He isn't sure why, but he has a bad feeling in the pit of his gut. He can't shake the idea that something's wrong, or that something will go wrong. Yoongi shudders at the thought, keeping his hands on the wheel as they go down the street. It's pretty much a straight shot, so there's that.

The main hangar is on the top of a hill, the Moonchild separated from the other ships since she's special. She's kept in the upper section, where the better engineers are. They need the best repairs. They're a warship now, so it only makes sense. Yoongi can't help but tap his fingers on the wheel, his anxiousness getting to him.

There's soft chatter on the comm from his other crewmates, but he's not paying attention to it. He's too nervous. "Hey, Yoons," Sapphire softly says.

"I'll be okay," he mutters back.

"Whatever happens, we'll do it together, don't forget that," she says, trying to comfort him. He lets out a sigh, placing one hand on her thigh as he drives.

"I know. And just in case, I love you." Although he can tell she wants to protest and say they'll make it out okay, she nods.

"I love you too."

After a few more minutes of silent driving, they make it to the small hill that goes up to the main hangar. Yoongi parks, unbuckling and rushing out of his vehicle. The others are all pulling in, having the same reaction as Yoongi. They all sprint out, practically slamming their doors behind them. Yoongi and Sapphire meet up with the others.

"Alright, it's right up there," Seulgi says, pointing.

Yoongi can see her from here. The beautiful Moonchild. Their home. It feels good to see her again, he's sure it'll feel amazing to fly her. He softly smiles, the memories of how he became who he is flooding back to him. It all started in that ship. Sapphire pulls him out of his thoughts, grabbing his hand and pulling him forward. He bites back his yelp as they start up the hill, the rest of the crew walking in-step with them.

By the time they make it up the first part of the hill, they see a man standing there, gazing at the Moonchild. "Jace?" Seulgi asks in surprise. The man turns and jumps, holding a hand over his chest.

"You scared me. Mr. Blaine told me you might need an extra pair of hands. I've been told I'm a decent engineer."

"Jin isn't, so we could definitely use you," Yoongi jokes.

"Rude," Jin replies, huffing to himself.

Jace nods, slightly smiling at Yoongi's words. "I'd be honored to join. I already geared up in his office," he says, motioning to his armor and utility belt. None of them are wearing helmets, just the armor. Helmets always get in the way anymore, so they decided against using them.

"Come on, Jimin, Jungkook, and Y/N should be up there. Just a little further," Seulgi says. Everyone hums, following her as she leads the way up the hill.

"Ma'am, I'm getting a lot of movement on my tracker," Tae says, rushing up to Seulgi.

"Huh? Let me see." Tae shows her the tracker, a map of little red dots coming up. "What the hell?" she whisper-asks, Yoongi barely close enough to hear it.

"We're surrounded. Mars is on the ground," Tae says.

"Shit, hurry, we need to get out of here before they start shooting at us," Seulgi says, causing everyone to panic. Almost all at once, the crew moves faster, running together further up the hill. The upper section comes into view, the Moon not too far now. Jimin, Jungkook, and Y/N are here, turning once they see the others.

"Jungkook!" Tae calls, sprinting up to his husband. Jungkook meets Tae halfway, Tae jumping into Jungkook's arms. Jungkook spins the man around for a few seconds, then holds the boy above his head. Before Yoongi even knows what's happening, Tae places his hands on Jungkook's shoulders, leaning down and pressing their lips together. Yoongi smiles, loving the sight of their, well, love.

Jungkook and Tae kiss for another few moments before Jungkook sets his husband down, whispering to him. Yoongi is too far away to make out what they're saying, so he turns to Jimin and hugs him. "I really did miss you, but don't tell anyone," Yoongi mutters.

Jimin chuckles. "I missed you too, grandpa. My fiancée did too." Yoongi backs away in time to see Y/N rushing forward, hugging Yoongi.

"I missed you, Muffin," Yoongi says, laughing.

She kisses his cheek. "I missed you so much, you have no idea. Being up there with those two without my favorite person was so hard."

Jimin gasps. "I'm not your favorite person?"

"Alright alright, reunion over, we have a ship to get to," Seulgi says, strolling forward.

"Wait, reunion not over yet," Jimin says, stopping Seulgi in her tracks. She quirks a brow, and he hugs her. Seulgi freezes, then wraps her arms around the Commander.

"I missed you too," she murmurs, and Jimin buries his head against her shoulder, nodding. Their embrace lasts a few more moments, then Jimin pulls away. She manages to crack a soft smile, Jimin mimicking her expression.

"It's okay, Seul. We got this. No matter what, I'll always have your back," Jimin says as Seulgi starts towards the Moonchild, half the crew behind her. Seulgi returns Jimin's sentiments, but her stiff shoulders tell a different story. Yoongi shrugs, deciding to follow.

"We have Martians closing in, we're almost completely surrounded," Seulgi says, and Yoongi nods. He can't blame her for being on edge, this is tough stuff. "Once we get inside, we have a lot to do-"

'Bam!'

The entire crew is thrown back, hitting the grass. Yoongi feels dead, his entire body throbbing. His air leaves his body, his ears ringing, his eyes only seeing white. "Yoongi!" he hears a faint voice call. His head hits the ground, his mouth letting soft groans pass. "Yoons!" he hears the same voice call. His vision slowly starts to fade back in, his head still in pain. He blinks several times, then notices a figure kneel in front of him.

"Yoons, hey. Hey, are you okay? Yoons, please be okay," Sapphire says, placing her hands on his shoulders. Yoongi sits up, his spine throbbing.

"Ugh, what happened?" Yoongi groggily asks, his voice coming out coarse.

"I'm so sorry," she whispers, tears in her eyes.

"Are you hurt?" he asks, not looking around at anyone else yet.

"I'm okay, it looks like everyone's okay, they're just in your state. Shock."

Yoongi blinks a few more times, trying to absorb her words, but it's hard when his head is throbbing. "Wait, what was that? What threw us back like that?" Sapphire lets a single tear fall, her head lowering. She points, so Yoongi turns and stares. He rubs his eyes, trying to make sure what he's seeing is real. "No. No, this can't be real," Yoongi whispers, his hand covering his open mouth. She's gone.

The Moonchild is gone.
