Taehyung
Longest chapter so far! Yay!
~12:00~
After walking for several minutes, the crew has finally approached the first main city. There are skyscrapers and even streets with advanced cars Jimin has never seen. The only bad news is that all of them are abandoned. "Jungkook, any updates?" Jimin asks, which the Platinum shakes his head to.
"Not yet, I don't think we're going to get any." Jimin sighs, looking over at the Captain, who has his head turned straight ahead.
"Everyone has their long distance comm links on, correct?" Namjoon asks. Everyone nods. "Good. Split up. Teams of two, check ins every ten minutes. Jimin and I will cover the north end. Jungkook and Y/N, do the west side. Hoseok and Seulgi, east end. Baekhyun and Jin, south end. Got it?"
Once everyone is in agreement, they enter the city and break off into their respective groups. Jimin follows Namjoon like a little duckling, heading towards the north end of the city. Jimin still can't fathom the fact that he's an Executive Officer now. He's not just an engineer, he's an Executive, and to top it off he's walking next to his Captain who he respects dearly.
"What are we looking for exactly?" Jimin can't help but ask. His Captain shrugs.
"Evidence of alien life... there," he pauses to point towards the large spire in the distance. "That's the communications tower. We should make our way over there."
"Hopefully we'll find answers there. The streets don't look too good," Jimin replies, letting his eyes scan over the area.
They fall back into a short silence. Jimin isn't complaining, he has a lot on his mind. Being here, let alone away from Y/N, is terrifying. He can't help but miss her, but he doesn't let that get in the way of his mission. He knows that she's focused right now. He should do the same. However, Namjoon spoils that thought.
"So... you and Y/N, huh?" Namjoon asks. Jimin's cheeks go pink. "So that's what was taking you so long?" he inquires, giving the poor younger man a teasing tone.
"No comment," Jimin says, slightly embarrassed. Namjoon claps him on the shoulder, which makes Jimin's eyes meet the Captain's behind their helmets.
"If it makes you feel any better - I approve. She's a good person, she really is. Strong, determined, smart..."
Jimin gives his Captain a look of amusement despite their masked faces. "Careful, I'm the jealous type," he says playfully.
Namjoon laughs, "Oh we all got that impression when Jungkook first showed up." Jimin chuckles, shaking his head. He'll never forget the rage he felt when Jungkook showed up. He's glad they're on good terms now though. Great terms, actually.
"Hey, in all seriousness, Jungkook told me what you said to him and I wanted to thank you..."
Jimin looks over at his Captain with confusion, "Thank me? For what?"
"You not only didn't fight him but you also showed him respect. That was really mature of you Jimin."
The Engineer shrugs, "It was the right thing to do. Plus, I could tell he's been through a lot, with the enhancements and all the hopping around the solar system. I don't know why I cared about him so much right off the bat but... I did."
Namjoon is about to reply when Jimin spots a body and gasps in shock. The Captain instinctively gets in front of Jimin. There's one man leaning up against the side of a building, clearly long gone. He's extremely pale, his skin having a slight dark green tint. "Jesus," Jimin whispers, which Namjoon nods to.
"Good thing we brought helmets. How's your oxygen?"
Jimin uses his wrist to check the status of his helmet and armor. "Good. I have eight hours left."
"Let's get to that spire, I'm not feeling too good about this," Namjoon says, then presses on his wrist to speak into the long distance comms. "Checking in, Jimin and I found a body. Has anyone else found anything?"
"Nothing yet," Baekhyun replies.
"Nothing," Seulgi says as well.
After a few seconds of silence, Jimin starts to panic. He immediately taps on his long distance comm. "Y/N? Jungkook?" Jimin asks, not being able to hide the panic in his tone. There's only static. Jimin looks over at Namjoon, unable to read his expression due to the helmets.
"We have to stay on course," Namjoon starts, but Jimin shakes his head.
"No. There's something wrong, they would check in. They would."
Namjoon nods, "I know they would, but we need to get to that communication spire. It could have all our answers. Think about it - ship logs, scanners, environmental data everything we need to complete our investigation."
"So we're abandoning them?" Jimin heaves out.
"No, I would never abandon anyone. Jungkook and Y/N mean way too much to me." Namjoon presses on his long distance comm. "Hoseok, Seulgi, new assignment. Find Y/N and Jungkook."
"Yes sir," Seulgi replies.
Namjoon shuts off the comm and looks at Jimin. "I know you're worried, I am too, but we need to do this for all of our sakes."
Jimin sighs, "I know, I just... losing her... I don't know what I would do. Quite frankly I don't know what I would do if I lost any of you."
Namjoon walks over to Jimin and grabs both of his shoulders. "I don't know what I would do if I lost you either." Jimin gives him a firm nod even though his heart is racing. He's come to care for the Captain, honestly, he sees him as a father figure. Jimin sighs, breaking out of his thoughts.
"Alright... let's go do this thing..."
~12:02~
You and Jungkook stay close but move fast, investigating the city as quickly as possible. You look back, but can no longer see anyone else from the crew. You're worried about Jimin, but you know he's focused, so you choose to focus as well. Jungkook seems to notice you on edge and sighs as a result.
"Maybe... talking will help? Silence is pretty deadly," Jungkook offers. He's not wrong.
"Yeah uh, what should we talk about?"
You may not be able to see his smirk, but you can feel it. "How about you and Jimin?"
You groan, "Really?" So much for focus.
He snickers, "Seems like a fun topic to go into. What were you and him doing in his room huh?"
You turn red, "N-Nothing."
"Oh you were totally making out weren't you?"
"Jungkook!" you hiss.
"What? I'm curious on the status of my dearest pilot and my boyfriend."
"Well he's definitely cheating on you," you tease, giving him a nudge with your elbow.
"Oh come on, I thought I was a catch!" he whines.
You smile behind your helmet, "You are, I guess I'm a bigger one."
He goes quiet at that, which makes you concerned. "You okay?"
He nods, then sighs and stops, causing you to stop with him. "I agree. You are a bigger catch. I know we resolved things but I still feel like such an awful person. I wasn't there for you when you needed me. What kind of person does that make me?"
You shake your head, gently letting your hand grab his arm in a poor attempt to comfort him. "Jungkook..." Before you get the chance to keep talking, a loud bang is heard, and the two of you are thrown apart. You groan, your ears ringing and your vision blurry. Everything seems to be in slow motion, the entire world around you like blurred lines. However you do make out two people approaching you, or at least, what you assume (and hope) are people. "Wait..." you try, but it comes out as a croak. The last thing you see is someone kneeling down, about to take you away.
~12:13~
Jimin lets out a shaky breath as Namjoon inspects the spires' front door. After a few seconds of making sure there's nothing around to stop them, he opens the door. Jimin follows his Captain into the spire, the lobby being the first thing he sees. It looks completely abandoned. Chairs and couches are turned over, windows are boarded up, stains of blood and some green gunk crowd the walls. No bodies yet, but the key word there is yet.
"Looks empty, let's make our way up to the top floor, that's where all the data will be kept," Namjoon says.
"Elevators," Jimin mutters, pointing to the corner of the room. Namjoon leads the way, Jimin now holding his AR in front of him. "Blast anything that moves?" Jimin asks jokingly.
"Anything that charges us, how about that?" Namjoon jokes back.
Jimin presses the 'call elevator' button and is not surprised to see it not working. Namjoon sighs, and together, they both slowly look over at the stairs. "I hope you have good stamina," Namjoon says.
Jimin smirks. "I could certainly use the practice for when Y/N and I-"
"Jimin, I love you, but please don't finish that sentence."
Jimin chuckles, "Love you too Momjoon." Namjoon laughs at the nickname, then throws open the doors for the stairs.
"Advanced civilization literally living on a moon, but they can't keep their elevators working when the place is abandoned. And not only that - don't have anything other than stairs as an alternative," Jimin mumbles, mostly ranting to himself, but Namjoon gets a kick out of it.
"At least we get to complain together. Keep going until there's no more stairs."
And they definitely do. It takes them what feels like years of decent paced walking until they get to the top. Jimin's panting, Namjoon is struggling to try not to pant to look cool. Jimin leans against the railing, looking over at Namjoon. "So, important question: I haven't been paid in weeks, is that still happening or...?" He may not be able to see Namjoon's face, but the Engineer can tell he's looking at him with amusement.
"Maybe once we get sanctuary we'll be heavily compensated. I certainly hope so. You know what? I think I'll settle down after this whole adventure is over."
Jimin raises a brow, "Really? You?"
Namjoon hums, "Why not? I think this whole journey has provided me with a lifetime of excitement."
"That's fair. Earth or Mars?"
"Earth. Now that I'm a survivor, maybe I'll get some more street cred."
"You're a good man, Namjoon. I mean it."
He can tell Namjoon is looking at him with admiration. "So are you."
They give each other a short nod before opening the door, where a large spherical room awaits them. For the most part - it's clean. Jimin looks around in confusion. No bodies, no signs of decay, no chairs thrown around. It's just a large, circular white room with the lights surprisingly still on. There's several consoles littering the room, but there's one in the corner that looks like it's meant for the commanding officer. "I'll go check the logs, you check in on our crewmates," Namjoon commands, and Jimin is quick to obey.
He brings his wrist in front of his eyes, pressing on the long distance comm. "Checking in. Everyone alright? Also looking for a status update from Seulgi and Hoseok," Jimin says.
"We're still good. The city is abandoned, we can't find anything. We're going to start searching buildings now," Baekhyun replies.
Jimin hums, "Good idea, see if anyone - or anything - is left behind."
After a few seconds of static, Seulgi replies as well. "Hoseok managed to activate the tracking beam on Y/N's suit. We're on our way to find them but..." She hesitates, which makes Jimin lean closer to hear more.
"What is it?"
She sighs, "They're on the north end." Jimin's eyes widen and he turns to look at Namjoon. Namjoon briefly looks up, then goes back to working on the logs.
"Shit," Jimin whispers, turning off the comm. "What do we do? Should we go after them ourselves?" Namjoon pauses, considering this as a holographic screen appears in front of them.
"No, let Seulgi and Hoseok do this. We may be here a while."
Jimin glances at his Captain with concern, "What, why?"
Namjoon sighs, then motions Jimin to come closer. He hesitates, then does, walking across the room and stopping next to Namjoon's side. "We have company," Namjoon whispers, bringing up security camera footage from the sixth floor. There's a group of men in there, but they don't seem... right. They're moving slowly, dragging their fingers across any surfaces they go near. They look sick, pale, and slightly green.
"Is this what we're looking for?" Jimin asks.
Namjoon softly hums, "Looks like it... I wish I could say that was the only floor with them." He pulls up security camera footage from several other floors. Fifteen, seventeen, twenty-four, twenty-eight... the list goes on and on.
"What floor are we on?" Jimin whisper-asks.
"Eighty."
"Jesus we climbed eighty stories?"
Namjoon nods, "Only problem with that is... I think they heard us come in."
Jimin closely looks at the security cameras, then widens his eyes. The one thing the group of things have in common is that they're heading towards the stairs. "Check the stairwell cameras," Jimin whispers. Namjoon hesitates before doing so, and just as Jimin feared, there are several groups of men and women and even children climbing up the stairs. They all seem lost and dazed, most are pale with green streaks in their skin, but others are completely dark green with barely any resemblance of a human left.
"How close are they?" Jimin asks, and Namjoon taps away before checking the closest camera.
"Looks like we still have time, but not much. I'd give it five minutes at most." Jimin rushes into action, grabbing one of the consoles and tipping it over. He pushes it over to the door, repeating the process until the door is completely barricaded.
"Is there a way out of here?" Jimin asks, looking around.
Namjoon points to the other end of the room. "The elevator shaft?"
"Do you have any climbing experience?" Jimin asks, and Namjoon shakes his head.
"I don't think we're getting out of here without fighting them."
Jimin gazes at the door, his hope starting to dwindle away. He steps away from the barricade, looking over at Namjoon. The Captain glances up at Jimin before shaking his head, then he slowly removes his helmet. He places it on the console and goes over to the center of the room, lying down. Jimin's confused, but decides to take off his helmet and follow in his leader's actions, placing his helmet on the ground before lying down next to Namjoon. The air hits his face, and it faintly smells... rotten. Jimin gags, but he pushes it aside to pay attention to Namjoon.
"If we don't make it out of this..."
"We will," Jimin confidently replies, although he doesn't truly believe it himself. How are they supposed to fight their way through all of them? Even if they do go down by bullets, they don't have nearly enough ammo to take them all out.
"But if we don't... I want you to know something." Jimin reluctantly gives in, slowly turning his head to lock eyes with Namjoon. "Jimin, ever since I first officially met you on the bridge of the Hep, I knew there was something special about you," he starts, pausing for a moment to think. Jimin's heart beats faster and his mind focuses on every word Namjoon is saying. "But... you were more than I expected. You were a shy engineer who had no idea what was going on half the time." Jimin laughs, and Namjoon smiles. "You remind me so much of me back when I was an engineer..."
Jimin's eyes widen, "You were an engineer?"
He nods, "I was. Just like you, shy, reserved, didn't know where I was half the time... then, I met Jungkook. Executive Officer. He took me under his wing and promoted me, wanted me to follow in his footsteps."
"So he's more than just a friend to you?"
Namjoon nods, "Way more than just a friend. Like a brother, maybe even a son." Jimin can't help but have his heart melt at his Captain's words, but what surprises Jimin is how Namjoon looks to almost be crying. "But you... you surprised me in every way humanly possible. Naming the cruiser the Moonchild, standing up to those thugs when I didn't, coming up with good plans, and overall keeping us in high spirits: you deserved that promotion. You deserve Executive Officer, and one day you'll make a great Captain."
He pauses for a moment, "But that's still not what I love most about you. You care about everyone around you. You have so much passion and work so hard. You'd rather yourself take the hit if it meant everyone else was safe. That was something I never thought I could do." Jimin has tears rolling down his cheeks at this point. He didn't think the Captain had these feelings, let alone towards Jimin. It feels so amazing, and Jimin has the same thoughts towards Namjoon.
"Jimin, you're like the son I never had. You and Jungkook are the two sons I wish I had. I love you both dearly, and I wanted you to know that... just in case," Namjoon finishes, his voice falling to a whisper. He also has tears streaming down his cheeks. Jimin chuckles, smiling brightly.
"You're like a father to me Namjoon, you really are," Jimin lets out, trying not to be overwhelmed by his emotions.
Namjoon returns Jimin's smile and laugh, the two looking at each other proudly. They stare for a few more seconds before leaning back, staring up at the ceiling. "I really don't want to die here," Jimin whispers, and Namjoon hums in agreement.
"I either want to die protecting my crew, or not die at all." Before Jimin gets the chance to reply, there's a bang on the door... then another... then another. Jimin sits up, and so does Namjoon.
"What do we do?" Jimin whispers, looking over at Namjoon. The Captain looks back and gives him a sad smile.
"I have no idea."
~12:14~
You groan, feeling slowly coming back into your body. You try to open your eyes, but you feel like there's a weight, so you choose to wait a minute. After you finally feel everything coming back, you slowly blink your eyes open. Although your vision is blurry you see a dark, medium-sized room. The walls are black, the bottoms of the wall have very dark blue led lights glowing. You try to move, but you feel your hands tied behind you, and you start to panic.
You try to break free, now noticing your helmet is off and you're sitting, tied to what looks like a ladder, squirming as hard as you can. Upon looking around more you spot Jungkook on the other side of the room. He's still unconscious, also tied to a ladder. "Jungkook!" you whisper-yell, trying to wake him up. You pant, desperately trying to break out of the rope that binds you, but it's no use. You're stuck here.
You lean back, watching Jungkook closely. He needs to wake up. With his enhancements, maybe he can break out. "Jungkook!" you try again, but that gets you no where. Well, it gets you somewhere, just not somewhere good. Footsteps echo down the hallway until they get closer and closer.
A singular medium-sized figure stands in the shadows, walking forward until the dark blue light slightly illuminates his face. You have no idea who this man is, and you don't ask questions, you simply sit there and stare at him with anger. He has black hair and smooth skin along with brown eyes, but not the same pretty brown Jimin has. Definitely a survivor of Triton. The man's wearing torn clothes and holding your helmet in his hand. "We've been surviving here for several weeks... no one has come for us, and I doubt anyone ever will," the man says with a slight scoff.
You shake your head, refusing to speak. "Oh? Now you're quiet? Interesting..." he says, his voice low and almost charming. You're nearly drawn into it, but you refuse to fall under this man's spell. Maybe he has enhancements of his own: something to do with his voice.
He kneels down, making eye contact with you. You were so drawn in to his voice that you didn't even notice the three other men who entered the room. "Is the other one awake?" he asks. With every word, you feel your ears trying to hear more. You hate it, but you can't resist for too much longer.
"No sir," another man replies.
The leader sighs, "Well, I guess I'll have to have my fun with this one... you'd like that, wouldn't you?" You find yourself nodding despite every cell in your body trying to resist. He definitely has some kind of enhancements.
"What's your name, doll?" he questions. When you meet his eyes, that's when you see it. His eyes are turning green, his lips seem brighter than usual as well. You try to resist, but you almost feel... obliged to tell him.
"Y/N... Y/N L/N."
"Why is someone as pretty as you all the way out on Triton?"
You smile, your mind hating every second of this. "My crew and I came to investigate what happened here."
"Oh shit... they're the ones from the broadcast," another male says.
"That doesn't matter," the leader says, waving off the poor boy.
"But sir-"
"Taehyung, if you talk back to me one more time," the leader interrupts. The boy - Taehyung - looks down, sadly nodding. The leader turns back, locking eyes with you. "What do you think happened here doll?"
You shake your head, "I have absolutely no idea." Your voice is coming out much higher than usual. Looking into his eyes... it almost feels like you're on drugs. Who produced this enhancement and why is it so powerful?
"Did you see anything... strange?"
You hum, "This whole moon is strange."
The leader chuckles, "Yes it is doll, now help me out... who is your friend over there?"
You smile, looking over at the boy who is now coming back to consciousness. He groans like you did, just waking up. "Jeon Jungkook, he's my friend."
The leader smirks, "Good... good. How many people did you come here with?"
"Including Jungkook and myself - eight."
The leader seems pleased with your cooperation, even leaning back a bit to give you extra space. "And where can we find the others?" Before you can respond, Taehyung starts to speak again.
"Listen, I know you told me not to talk back but-"
"Taehyung!" the leader snaps, turning around and standing up.
"This is messed up, they were here to investigate. They aren't the enemy."
The leader scoffs, "They have helmets. Do you know what this means? They have a ship! We can steal their armor and take their ship and get off this rock!"
Taehyung looks at his leader with worry. "There's other ways to do this without kidnapping people," he insists, but the leader shakes him off.
"If you don't agree with my plan, you're more than welcome to stay here, trapped on Triton forever."
Taehyung is practically seething at this point. "I never agree with your plans! Most of us don't! We're tired of it!" You look over at Jungkook, who's still coming to, and upon hearing unfamiliar voices, his cheeks start to light up.
"Then leave," the leader simply says, turning back to you and kneeling once more. "Now... tell me where I can find the others angel." You look at him, processing his words. Then, you slowly start to feel normal again. His use of the word angel... it doesn't sit right with you. You look at him with confusion, then light up. Jimin. That's why you're on Triton. You're here with Jimin. The only one who should be calling you angel.
"I'm sorry... I don't think I can tell you that," you reply, narrowing your eyes and leaning back. The leader looks genuinely shocked.
"Oh come on doll, don't be so-"
"Get away from her!" Jungkook growls. You jump at the sound of his voice. He sounded genuinely terrifying, his voice low and commanding. You almost want to get away from yourself.
He tugs on his restraints, his cheeks glowing so brightly they almost hurt to look at. "Oh look at this, another enhanced. How nice to know that I'm not alone."
"You'll regret ever laying a hand on her," he growls, his eyes now bright blue. You wince at the brightness, watching as the leader approaches the boy.
"Wait, sir, you need information. He'll be able to resist you-" Taehyung urges, but the leader cuts him off.
"I've had enough of you. Take him away. Consider him out of our merry band," the leader says dismissively. Taehyung panics as two men grab him and start to drag him away. Taehyung tries to resist, but to not avail.
He's pulled away, and while the others are distracted, Jungkook easily rips through the ropes restraining him and goes right after the leader, tackling him to the ground in the blink of an eye. "Jungkook!" you let out, worried for the boy. The leader falls, and a knife drops out of his pocket. You struggle to reach it with your foot, and in the struggle, Jungkook notices and kicks the knife towards you.
The other two men are too preoccupied with trying to pry Jungkook off of their leader to notice you dragging the knife back to your hands, picking it up and starting to saw through the rope. However, before you get the chance to finish, some shouts and gunshots are heard.
You and Jungkook freeze, looking over at the disturbance in-sync. However, the leader takes Jungkook's distraction as an opportunity to elbow him in the cheek, knocking him over. He groans, his cheeks still a bright blue. Jungkook rushes into action, jumping out of the leader's grasp. He holds up his fists, preparing to fight when more gunshots sound off. The two men fall to the ground. The leader stays still for a moment as three people walk into the room. Seulgi, Hoseok... and Taehyung?
"Hoseok! Seulgi!" Jungkook says with relief. Your eyes widen as Hoseok keeps his AR trained on the leader, who holds up his hands in defeat. Seulgi immediately approaches you, kneeling down and strapping her AR over her shoulder. She takes the knife and finishes the job.
"You came back for us."
Seulgi gives you a smile, "What, you really thought we'd let you die?"
You give her a look of amusement, "Do you really want me to answer that?"
She snickers, then offers you her hand. You take it and you hop up, letting her go to brush yourself off. Taehyung grabs your armor and helmet from the corner of the room and hands it to you. "I can't begin to say how sorry I am," he starts, but you wave him off.
"You did what you could. Thank you."
"He did more than that, he managed to fight off those two guards and lead us here. We're in your debt," Hoseok says. Taehyung shyly smiles. You smile back and take your armor, strapping the plates around yourself then putting your helmet on. Jungkook, on the other hand, doesn't bother with his helmet.
"What happened while we were gone?" you ask, and Seulgi sighs.
"Jimin was worried sick." You instantly enable your long distance comm.
"Jimin? Jimin can you hear me?"
~12:20~
Jimin's eyes widen. "Y/N!?" he questions, wondering if his mind is playing tricks on him.
"W-We ran into some trouble, but Seulgi and Hoseok are here, along with someone new... are you okay?" she asks, and Jimin can't help but feel at ease. He may die, but at least Y/N is okay.
"Well... not really." He can practically hear her shock.
"What? Where are you, I'm coming to get you." H
e shakes his head, "You can't. Namjoon and I are trapped." Jimin looks over at Namjoon, who returns his gaze. "I don't think we're getting out of this one."
"Jimin, no! I'm not losing you!" she begs. Jimin can hear the despair in her tone, and it breaks his heart. The pounding on the door only gets louder and louder by the second. They'll be through any minute now.
"There's these creatures. They look like us but they're lost, dazed... confused. Some are pale while others are all green. They're at the door, and we don't have enough ammo to get through them, if bullets even hurt them."
He can hear the muffled sobs of Y/N. He feels his own tears welling up again. "I can't lose you," she whispers, and it takes all his effort not to cry at her words.
"Y/N... meeting you, being with you? You gave me the greatest moments of my life."
"I'm not giving up on you!" she replies confidently, which makes Jimin sigh.
"I'm so sorry Y/N... can you do me a favor?"
Y/N pauses, then sniffles. "Anything."
"Go to Earth... find my brother, and watch the clouds together."
Y/N is full out sobbing now, not bothering to muffle her cries. Hearing her so distraught makes Jimin wish he could say something to comfort her. Something: anything. "O-Okay, we will. We'll find a turtle and everything."
Jimin sighs once more, looking down, his finger lingering over his comm button. "Goodbye, angel," he whispers.
"Jimin wai-" He turns off the comm, letting out a shaky breath. He wouldn't be able to properly function if he had to listen to her cry for one more second. His heart wouldn't be able to take it.
Namjoon stands, walking over to the elevator shaft and pressing the button. When it doesn't open, Namjoon scours the room until he finds a thin board that looks pretty stable. "W-What are you doing?" Jimin asks, still not totally focusing on the matter at hand.
"Put your helmet on. We're leaving."
"But the elevator shaft, that's way too dangero-"
"I don't care. We have to try. After listening to that..."
Namjoon pauses, then looks back at Jimin. "You need to fight. If not for yourself then for her." Jimin's eyes widen, but just like that, he's on board with Namjoon's plan.
He forces the doors partly open with the board, then steps aside so Jimin can place his hands on the metal, prying them open. It takes all his strength, but the shaft is now visible. The pounding at the door gets even louder. Jimin now knows they have no time.
He looks down the shaft and sees no elevator, only wires and the frame of the machinery that transports the elevator. "Eighty floors... do you think we can climb down that many?" Jimin asks as he puts his helmet on, handing Namjoon's to him. The Captain sighs as he puts his back on too.
"I doubt it, but hopefully our adrenaline will help us out a bit." Jimin gulps, then looks back just in time to see the door starting to give. "We need to go... jump!" Namjoon commands. Without a second thought, Jimin does.
He lands on the machinery with an 'oof' sound, gasping for breath and making sure his hands and feet are secure before moving down. He's as careful as possible, getting out of the way so Namjoon can jump. As soon as he's far enough, Namjoon jumps and lands right where Jimin did. Jimin keeps climbing down, eager but careful. "Keep going, don't wait for me, don't stall for a second. The faster we get to the ground, the better it is for everyone," Namjoon commands, and Jimin nods, gulping one last time.
Jimin hears the door give, which gives him a sense of urgency. He rapidly climbs, still being careful to have proper hand and footwork. His feet slip a few times, but luckily he's holding onto each bar for dear life. He hears groans from above him, and looks up in time to see a group of what looks like humans staring down at them from where they once were. They stare soullessly, their mouths slightly open, their face expressionless. The sight terrifies Jimin, but he forces his fear down and thinks of Y/N. Her smiling face once she sees that he's alive and well. The thought is enough to motivate him, so, he tears his gaze away from the creatures and instead focuses on the girl he's falling for...
~12:38~
Jimin's near the second floor, Namjoon right above him. Some creatures tried going after them, but ended up falling all the way to the bottom. As a precaution, the two of them are going to depart on the second floor to risk not getting their ankles chomped on by some creatures that may have survived the fall.
They're passing the third floor now, Jimin's hair starting to get in his eyes. Y/N may like his longer hair, but right now, it's a bit of a burden. He lets out a huff as he gets closer to the second floor, the elevator doors shut. The elevator itself is on the first floor. They can see where the creatures fell. There's only four, and they look pretty dead. "Change of plans - go through the elevator."
"What about the creatures?" Jimin asks.
"Let me go first," Namjoon offers, shifting himself over to the left and climbing down. He stays next to Jimin for a few moments before letting out a huff and jumping, landing on the elevator.
Jimin joins him despite the Captain's request, whipping out his pistol and keeping it on the creatures. They don't seem to be moving, which is a good sign. Namjoon locates the top of the elevator and swings the hatch open, jumping inside. Jimin follows, jumping down in time to see the inside of the elevator still somewhat operational. He presses the first floor button and the doors partly open. Namjoon pries them open enough to get the both of them through.
"Let's go find the others," Namjoon mutters, exiting the elevator and running over to the entrance, Jimin right on his tail. They depart, and Namjoon pulls up a map on his wrist and taps away.
"What are you doing?" Jimin asks.
"Just what Hoseok did - tracking them."
"What happens after that? Do we have anywhere else to go? We got no data." Namjoon looks back at the Engineer. Jimin can tell his Captain is smirking under his mask.
"Who said that?" Even while sprinting, Namjoon flicks a data chip at Jimin, who somehow manages to catch it despite his shock.
"What's this?"
"I downloaded everything on the console while looking at the security cameras. Hold onto it for a bit, I'll be watching the map after all." Jimin nods and tucks it into the most secure pocket his armor has, making sure the pocket is completely closed before taking his hands away. Namjoon suddenly lights up. "Found them, they're not too far... let's go!"
~12:40~
You feel numb.
Jungkook has been somberly walking by your side for the past few minutes, but you haven't said a word. Taehyung is with the group now, mostly since he has information on what happened here, but you barely pay attention to that. The idea of Jimin being gone... you can't fathom it. "I don't want him to go," you whisper, tears welling up in your eyes.
"He's a fighter. Namjoon's a fighter as well. They'll find a way, they always have and they always will," Jungkook softly says.
You glance over at him, "Do you really believe that? Jimin sounded so..." You break off, trying not to cry. "H-He sounded so scared..."
"I can go find them," Jungkook offers.
You look over at him in shock. "By yourself?"
He nods, "I can find them much faster than anyone else here, not to mention I can break them out of their jam."
"You're not allowed to go without me."
You sniffle, trying to fight back your tears. Only a couple hours ago, you and Jimin were together, kissing and laughing. You would do anything to just see his face right now. Literally anything. Your heart is in your throat, your skin going cold, and your mind blank. Feeling this powerless is a nightmare. You would die for Jimin in a heartbeat. You wish you had the chance right now.
"Y/N..."
"I'm not leaving him!" you demand, on the verge of tears. Jungkook motions for you to keep your voice down. He looks over at you, and can tell you're not giving up. So, he sighs.
"We can split off from the group now, go look for them. I can track them," Jungkook whispers, looking forward to make sure the other three don't notice you two speaking. Seulgi, Hoseok, and Taehyung lead the way, talking amongst themselves. Seulgi seems a little on edge around Taehyung, but Hoseok is as cheerful as usual. He's laughing and smiling, making the newbie feel welcome.
"Do you trust him?" you ask Jungkook, who shrugs.
"He didn't try to kill us, so there's that."
"Not yet. Keep an eye on him. I understand he has important information but..."
"We don't know him."
"Exactly," you reply in a whisper, narrowing your eyes. Taehyung. He's decently tall, pretty attractive, smooth skin. Why does everyone have smooth skin? Are they secretly Greek Gods and Goddesses?
"What about the leader, where do you think he'll go?" Jungkook asks. That's right. In your distraught, you ran out of where you were. Turns out you were being kept in a bunker, but you didn't really care enough to take in the details. You were fuming. It's not fair for the world to try and take Jimin away from you, especially like this. Everyone followed you, presumably letting the leader go.
"I don't know, and quite frankly, I don't really care. I hope he dies from whatever is on this stupid moon."
Jungkook seems surprised by your anger at first, then sighs. "I understand..."
"I could have been there for Jimin... I could have had a chance to save him..." You trail off, then gasp, holding a hand over your chest. Jungkook stops and panics.
"Are you okay?" he asks. You cough and fall to your knees, placing your hands on the road. The other three stop and turn around.
"What's wrong Y/N?" Seulgi asks, coming over next to you.
You throw off your helmet and cough harder, wincing and gasping for breath. "It's the gunshot, isn't it?" Hoseok asks. You take a moment to catch your breath before nodding. There's pain spreading through your veins, your chest pounding.
"I-I thought I was healed," you stammer, shocked from the pain.
Hoseok sighs, "It's possible you undid your stitches. We need to get you back to the ship, now."
Seulgi activates her long distance comm, "Baekhyun, if you can read me, please get back to the ship. We've lost contact with Jimin and Namjoon, and Y/N is hurt. We need to leave."
"Yes ma'am," Baekhyun replies.
"Do you need help?" Seulgi asks, and you shake your head.
"I-I'll make it," you whisper, adrenaline being the only thing you can feel right now. You stand, then start to fall, but Jungkook holds you in place.
"We need to move. She could be losing blood fast," Jungkook says, but it all goes in one ear and out the other.
"I'm fine," you growl, brushing Jungkook's hand off your shoulder and walking past a very stunned Seulgi and Hoseok. You don't pay attention to the rookie, instead leading the way. However, all that changes when you hear yelling from not too far away.
The crew freezes, grabbing their ARs instinctively and holding it up in front of them. Jungkook approaches your side. You pay him no mind, you simply rest your finger against the weapon, not quite on the trigger, but ready to fire in case someone comes looking for you. The yelling is coming from the corner, right behind a section of tall buildings. The yells get louder and louder until you start to make out what they're saying...
"Run! Run!" a male voice faintly says. You lower your rifle. No... that can't be. Jungkook looks at you with confusion, keeping his rifle steady. Two figures appear, dashing out from the other street. "Run!" one of them says. You narrow your eyes, then widen them. Tears start to roll down your cheeks. You nearly drop your rifle, your hands shaking.
"Jimin!" you yell back as he runs closer. His hair flies in the wind, his tiny legs somehow going fast.
"Run! Go!" he repeats, and soon after, you see it. A whole pack of people come running around the corner, armor on and holding weapons.
Your eyes widen in panic as Namjoon and Jimin approach you. You look back in time to see Seulgi, Hoseok, and Taehyung running away. Jungkook's cheeks light up, his eyes burning blue. You gulp and let your legs move, strapping your AR around your body and ignoring the searing pain ripping through your chest. Jungkook moves faster than any of you, his enhancements making him look like a blur. "Keep running!" Jimin yells again, and you can't help but nod, panting and running as fast as you can...
How are you going to get out of this one?
