hello there.

the first chapter of this fanfic dates back in 2018, and now it's 2023. which means 5 years has passed.

i've kinda step away from the Undertale AUs fandom long time ago. I got into new fandoms, new friends, stuffs like that. But sometimes my notifications pops up every comment, which is surprising consider how old this fanfic is and some of you still manage to find out.

i'm not entirely left the fandom, but rather not much interested in it anymore. i still watch undertale content, just not hyped as much. so, to give this an actual end (and out of little guilt every time a comment notif pops up), i will tell you AfterDeath shippers some AU ideas that has long been hanging around and never finished, if someone wanted to write a fanfic based on that AU.

1. 2 months and 23 days

This AU was based on real life, about the "accident" that i've experienced. In 2016 (i think), i was in a coma for about 2 weeks and spent the rest days in hospital. I had myocarditis and it almost took my life. It was a hell experience. But luckily and magically, i survived.

This AU takes place in a hospital, where Geno suffer bad health conditions and suddenly falls in a coma. For the first few days after he comes in conscious, he couldn't open his eyes and move his body, nor moving his mouth to speak. All he can do is hear and wait. After a week or so, he realized he could see and move his body freely, but that's only his soul, and body still lying on hospital bed. That's when he meets Death.

Death told Geno the reapers do not know when someone will die. They only sense it. They only be there to collect the souls and guide ways to the beyonds. Geno was... one of the special case, where the body still alive, but soul has left and see Death.

At first, Geno was frustrated, angered, wanting to return back to his body immediately, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't. Even Death don't know how to. Death is only there to observe Geno - the special one. Slowly, they start to become friends, as Geno doesn't have anyone to talk to. You can develop your ideas further from here.

2. A Dimmed Love

Reaper is the new neighbor in town and he moves into the rumored haunted house. After a few days of strange phenomenons happened, he finally meet Geno - the ghost who caused him so much troubles. From there, Reaper start to investigate further into the burried deep past of Geno's family.

In the end, Geno realized Reaper is one of the Deaths that is here to take his soul away. But unlike other Deaths who forcefully take souls away and have no sympathy for any wishes, Reaper was more of a friend who listens and respectthe ghost's wishes until the ghost is willing to leave with him. That way, in the next life, the ghost will have no grudges.

This AU is heavy in Geno's emotions and Reaper's indecisiveness. One is hard to leave everything behind, and one keep questioning his actions is right or wrong. You can develop your ideas further from here.
