Chapter 18: Lingering Longing

Chapter 18: Lingering Longing

The start of Taehyung's month in another country was to have a counselor to guide him to a better path. Fortunately, the counselor he got was someone who could speak his language so it made it easy for him to be open to his counselor.

Staying in another country was kind of rough because everything surrounding him was new to him. He had to learn the language to be able to communicate with the people and to live properly since his Jin Hyung was a busy person so he couldn't rely on him so much. After all, Jin's purpose to be in this country was because of his business.

Jin also told him that once he learned the English language, he could continue to go to college and pursue his dreams as he wanted to. So Jin gave him a private tutor who would teach him to become better.

Of course, Taehyung did his best to learn because he wanted to reach the goal of his life without regret. And his tutor was a kind person as well and had patience for him.

“You've improved a lot than before,” Yeongie, his tutor said to him after checking the result of his grammar test.

“Do you think so?” Taehyung was kind of shy because his tutor would barely compliment him.

“Yes, I think you can go to University here now,” Yeongie uttered.

“Oh, I don't think I'm prepared for that,” Taehyung muttered. “I think I still need to learn some difficult English,” he added.

“Well, if that's what you want, I guess I could give a vocabulary for you to learn. And once you memorize them, I'll give you a test once you are confident enough to answer them,” Yeongie told him.

“Sure, thank you,” Taehyung smiled widely.

“Okay, for now, I'll give you a pop quiz and try to determine what the words mean.” Yeongie pulled out a test paper from his bag and showed it to Taehyung. “Use your stock knowledge to answer them,” he said and put it on Taehyung's desk.

Taehyung, of course, quickly took a look at the test paper and tried to answer it. Meanwhile, Yeongie left him alone in the study room so he could have peace on his own.

While answering, Taehyung heard his phone vibrated. Yeongie allowed him to use the phone, but just for a short time. He tried to look for Jungkook's social media but for some reason, it seemed like Jungkook deleted his social media. The last post he saw from Jungkook was from the time he was with him; Jungkook had never been active even though he knew Jungkook would upload once a day. He hoped Jungkook was doing fine and was not hurt that much by his sudden leave.

He couldn't help but wonder what Jungkook is doing right now.

He sighed and shook his head; he should focus on his quiz instead of worrying about someone.

“Jungkook,” Jaehyun called her son who mostly stayed in his took nowadays.

“What?” Jungkook sighed while scrolling down through his phone.

“Let's have a dinner, shall we?” Jaehyun invited him.

“Later, I'm busy,” he turned on his side.

Jaehyun ran her fingers through her hair and walked to him.

“Come on, we both know you're not busy,” she tried to turn him around, but Jungkook wouldn't budge at all.

“I'm not in the mood, Eomma; I'll eat once I want to,” Jungkook groans as he pulls the blanket over his head.

“I don't think this is how you would react if I were Taehyung,” Jaehyun retorted, and silence engulfed them. “you know how much Taehyung cares for you; if I were him, and I saw you like this; he wouldn't like this at all.” she stated.

“Fine, I'll eat,” Jungkook grumbled as he stood up from his bed and went out of his room.

Jaehyun smiled a bit, at least using Taehyung's name would somehow work. She followed him into the dining area.

“You know, I just wanted to tell you that I'm going to look for a maid.” she started the topic between them while eating. “I'm a busy woman, unfortunately, I don't have much time to take care of you. I know that sounds like I'm a bad mother, but our income comes from our company. I had to do everything to make sure you'll grow up properly. That's why we need a maid to take care of you while I'm gone. It's hard to know what's running inside your head.” she stated.

“You don't have to worry about me, I'm fine.” Jungkook shortly replied.

“I'm just saying that you should at least behave if we ever hired a new maid, I've heard from Taehyung that you often gave him a headache.” Jaehyun said with a sigh.

“Do whatever you want,” Jungkook retorted.

“Anyways, if you want to talk to Taehyung, I've got a number from Seokjin; I think that was Taehyung's number. I wanted to check it out myself, but I always forgot about it. So, I'll give it to you later.” Jaehyun told him.

Jungkook didn't bother to respond to that and was just silent.

“If you don't have any idea what you two should talk about, just ask him how he is, and I guess you two can build a conversation there. And if you wanted to act as if you are a tough guy, just tell him I'm the one who told you to ask him so it wouldn't turn awkward,” Jaehyun sighed.

“I'm done,”

Jungkook just left and Jeonhwa hoped that her son would be fine and could handle the gap between Taehyung and Jungkook. Because if Jungkook were to give up, she believed Jungkook didn't deserve Taehyung. Jaehyun hoped that everything would be fine and Taehyung would make a comeback soon enough. First love really hurts the most when it is genuine feelings. Well, at least her son would learn a lesson from now on. It's okay to feel pain; after all, it's not a strange feeling.
