Chapter 9: New recruit

It's been a week now since Taehyung was taking care of his sick mother. He was glad that she is doing fine these days. Also, Taehyung took a part-time job as a waiter in a fast-food chain. He had to apply for a job to provide for their needs since Jungkook literally didn't give any of his salaries.

"Taehyung, are you going to leave now?" Taesha asked her son who was preparing food for him.

"Ah, yes Eomma, I'm going to finish this food first before I leave." Taehyung responded, turning off the stove once he was done cooking.

"Why did you quit your first job? Is there something wrong with your workplace? Is your boss treating you badly?" Taesha inquired, looking at her son.

Taehyung arrange the table and set down the food he prepared for his mother.

"It's not like that, Eomma, I just quit because I missed you already. And I'm worried about you." Taehyung told her and removed his apron.

"You don't have to worry about me, Taehyung. I'm doing fine besides, the neighbors took care of me." Taesha retorted.

"I'm glad to hear that, Eomma." Taehyung giggled.

"If you have a problem with your workplace, please son, tell me. Your mother is always here for you, remember that, hm." Taesha said patting his back.

"I know, Eomma, don't worry about me. I'm always fine. By the way, I have to go now, I'm going to be late for my work, see you later, Eomma." Taehyung smiled at her and pecked the top of her head.

He left the house and parked a taxi to go to his workplace. Once he arrived at the restaurant, he paid the driver and went inside the restaurant.

"Good Morning, Taehyung-ah." His co-worker, Emma greeted him with a smile when she saw him in the employee's area.

"Good Morning too, am I late?" Taehyung asked taking the apron from his locker after sanitizing his hands.

"Nah, you came at the right time." Emma told him.

"I'm relieved, I thought I'm going to get fired." Taehyung sighed.

"Don't worry, our manager doesn't fire someone easily. He had to report it to our boss first before he make action against his employee." Emma stated helping him tie the apron.

"I don't know who's our boss. Is our boss he or she?" Taehyung inquired because he doesn't really know about their boss.

"Our boss is he. Trust me, he's a kind and warm person. Also, a daddy." Emma giggled playfully and finished the tie.

"What do you mean by that?" Taehyung asked turning around to face her and confusion was obvious on his face.

"Well, he's so handsome and his body is a mwah, chef kiss. But the problem is, he is younger than me. I'm 28 now and he is 18 years old. So young." Emma sighed.

"He's so young to be our boss." The age kind of reminds Taehyung of Jungkook

"Yeah, but this restaurant was originally from his mother who was known in the business world and he is the one who is managing this restaurant because he actually thinks of owning a restaurant." Emma explained.

What a good coincidence. Mrs. Jeon Jaehyun is known in the business world.

"That sounds amazing." Taehyung muttered under his breath.

"You two, what are you doing here? Go back to your job now!" Their manager noticed them chattering.

"We're sorry, sir, we'll get going now." Emma apologized.

She tapped Taehyung's shoulder, motioning him to come with her. Taehyung did and followed her outside. They started to do their jobs, Emma is a cashier while Taehyung is serving people their food.

"Taehyung, here for number 27." The cook called him and Taehyung obeyed.

He carried the tray of food and bring it to table 27.

"Here's your order, ma'am and sir." Taehyung told the couple and set down the tray on their desk.

"Thank you" The woman smiled at him and Taehyung bowed his head in respect to them.

He left them and went beside the cashier area to get the takeout orders. When he turned around, his eyes landed on two people coming inside the restaurant. He can't be wrong, those are Jungkook and Soojin. He immediately turned around to face Emma who caught his attention.

"What's wrong with you? Are you okay?" Emma asked confusedly.

"Yeah, I'm just arranging the orders, haha." Taehyung nervously said when he put down the two plastic bags with takeout orders on top of the counter.

"They are already arranged tho. You just need to give it to the customer." Emma replied, shaking her head.

"Huh? Ah, uh, I'm just—"

"Oh, that's our boss, Taehyung, look at there!" Emma saw their boss.

Taehyung followed where she was pointing and he doesn't want to believe who it was. Why does he always have to cross his path with him? Why Jungkook?

He left the mansion to avoid him but now even in his current work, he is his boss. Why this is happening to him? Why?

"Hello, Good Morning sir, what's your order?" Emma asked when Jungkook came toward them.

But Jungkook was looking at Taehyung who immediately looked down.

"Ah, sir, he's Kim Taehyung, the new recruit here and he is doing a good job." Emma introduced Taehyung thinking that Jungkook wanted to know that's why he was staring at Taehyung.

"I-I'm going now." Taehyung said to Emma and took the bags.

He carried them and bring them to the customer's table.

"How long was he working here?" Jungkook asked Emma.

"About a week now, sir, don't worry about him sir, he is really amazing and doing a great job. His first week was going smoothly and who knows, he might be the employee of the year for this year." Emma chuckled.

"Where's Manager Eunsuk? I want to talk to him." Jungkook said looking at her.

"He is in his office, sir." Emma shortly replied.

Jungkook left and Emma was confused about what just happened. She knew something was off but she wasn't sure what it was.
