Aquarius,Gemini and Libra were running like possessed. They knew that there were still more men on their trail. Gemini saw one of their reflections in the rear view mirror of a car and almost shrieked.

The people chasing them resembled zombies. People were screaming and there was complete chaos. The policemen themselves were shocked out of their wits and blankly gazing at the horde of undead after the three girls. They had tried during but their bullets seemed to bounce off their bodies confirming Libra's suspicion that they had been enhanced with metal. Now they weren't exactly zombies,per say,more like humans in a trance with cybernetic parts. That didn't make the situation any less awful. Instead it seemed to increase that.

Libra turned around and enveloped them in a temporary cocoon of still air to enable the agents to put a few more metres between their pursuers and them. Aquarius's stomach lurched at the thought of the suffering the men and women had to endure for them to end up like this. They were mere lab rats and they were being experimented upon to create weapons of war.

Libra's trick worked and the men halted for some time and the agents increased their speed. But the barrier collapsed soon and the zombies began chasing them faster with renewed vigour. Libra levitated a few and sent them crashing back onto their companions.

Gemini shifted and became a housefly to count the numbers. There were approximately 20 of them. And she hoped,hope against hope that it was all. They were tired enough as it was. Expending their powers did not come at a minimal cost. Besides as previously mentioned they were not that experienced in these. Gemini shifted right back and started running while whispering,"There are twenty of them. Fight or flight?"

Libra and Aquarius exchanged a glance.

"Fight,"said Aquarius as Libra said,"Flight."

Gemini rolled her eyes even as the pursuers began gaining on them. Flight wasn't feasible it seemed to them. The onlookers eyes were wide,their jaws hanging open in shock. Neve till tonight,never till today,had they seen this kind of a thing before. Well nor had the agents to be honest but there they were,having to fight them.

A man in a lab coat turned around and spoke in a microphone,"Experiment is going on boss. The X11 creatures are doing fabulous." The lighting in the room was dim but his sadistic smirk could be seen in bold relief against his scarred face.

The agents slowly turned,prepared for the inevitable. They could not outrun these mutations. They could have flown but that would have expended too much of power. Besides what guarantee did they have that the zombies wouldn't start shooting them down?

Gemini's eyes glowed purple behind her mask as claws portruded out of her fingers. Libra's eyes glowed a dangerous brown as a fine mist enveloped her hands. Aquarius took a fighting stance as her eyes glowed ebony black,merciless and cruel and her hands went dark and there appeared to be a vacuum around her hands. Whoever she touched would get unburdened from air.

"Let's go and get these sons of bitches."

Wings sprouted out of Gemini's back,making her look like the human incarnation of some fallen angel. Everyone was looking at her amazed and shocked. Most had already concluded that this was really,like really happening in front of their eyes. A few had outright fainted in shock.

Gemini flew up a bit in the air and then swooped down to dissect the beasts with her razor-sharp claws. That was the cue for the other two as well. Aquarius aimed for the neck and chest region mostly and managed to kill five by choking them. Bodies lay littered at their feet as their clothes got drenched in blood. These creatures were living and therefore their veins and arteries still had blood. The road was coloured red. The colour of war.

Libra smoothly killed an approximate five by asphyxiation. Gemini speared every creature that came within her. Soon the three girls stood in a heap of bodies,coated crimson. The onlookers looked at them in disbelief as Gemini's claws and wings retracted along as the glow in her eyes subsided. She tottered a bit on her feet, stumbling over the bodies. The bill always came due. She gasped as the glow in the other two's eyes subsided as well,the mist around Libra's hands subsiding along with the darkness around Aquarius's. They too looked drained.

They dared to not breathe much deeply for the bodies stank. They cleared their way out of the heap to the amazement of the public. As their shock cleared they began clapping,applauding the masked heroes who had defeated this abominable creatures.

Libra suddenly remembered something and grabbed Gemini and Aquarius's arm and dragged them forward and ducked as the bodies behind them exploded, covering them with their entrails. The people screamed hurrying away to not get showered in organs and keeping their breakfast down became a challenge.

Tears of frustration from fighting against her body rolled down Aquarius's cheeks. She was probably the most affected of the lot for some reason. Gemini was coughing and Libra's face was emotionless. They stood up.

Libra gingerly brushed off the entrails off her,them making icky sounds when they landed splat on the ground. Aquarius closed her eyes as she tried to not think too much about being covered in remnants of creatures who had once been alive and human. Libra sensing her thoughts brushed them off her too. Aqaurius couldn't be more grateful. Gemini brushed hers off and took a deep stuttering breath and she visualised a clear lake and lush green fields in order to forget that she was currently standing in a sea of blood. It worked somewhat and she calmed down a bit and opened her eyes avoiding to look at her feet.

Instead she stared at the sky and said,"What a lovely day isn't it today?"

Libra joined her in her staring.

"A lovely day indeed."

Aquarius gave a dry chuckle too as she looked up as well and spotted Leo's erstwhile helicopter descending.

"The best."
