Flight 248

"Please remain calm, everyone," Hannah, one of the flight attendants, informed the anxious crowd. "We are working to figure out a solution, but for now, the safest option is to remain on the plane."

"We've been waiting for hours!" a passenger yelled. The passengers continued to argue as Hannah stepped away and shut the curtain.

"I don't know how much longer I can take this," Hannah whispered to the other two flight attendants, Allison and Ian. They had gathered by the cockpit for a moment of peace.

"I haven't been able to reach any of my family or friends," Allison choked back tears.

"They're going to catch on soon that we have no idea what we're doing," Ian mentioned. "The cockpit has remained locked since the plane landed. What are the captain and co-pilot doing?"

"I don't know, but we need to figure something out before they start rioting out there," Hannah responded.

"Why don't we just let them leave the plane? Take their chances?" Allison offered.

"Because there are zombies out there!" Ian reminded her angrily.

The three instinctively checked their phones for further updates on the outbreak. While en route from Miami to Los Angeles, an experimental engineered insect called Mors Viventium was stolen from a lab in London and released in every major airport in the world.

The Mors Viventium burrowed into their victim's brain to use them as a nest, thus rendering the host brain dead, but still alive. They had reports that almost everyone in LAX was infected and that the "zombies" were leaving the airport and bringing the insects to other populated areas. From the windows of the plane, they could see some wandering on the tarmac.

"Well, how long are we going to last on this plane?" Allison argued. "We're going to run out of food and water at some point!"

"We need to talk to the captain," Hannah decided. "He's got to have heard something."

A look was exchanged between the three before Hannah moved to the cockpit door and rapped on it several times. "Captain?" she called. Several moments of silence passed before Hannah tried again and received the same response.

"Does anyone remember the keycode?" Ian asked.

"I do," Allison said, pushing Ian aside to punch it in.

A rush of cold air escaped the cockpit as the door hissed opened. The three flight attendants were greeted with the sight of a shattered window and blood smeared all over the controls. The captain and the co-pilot were nowhere in sight.

Hannah was about to step inside when something shiny and green caught her eye. Mors Viventium. They had gotten inside the plane. Hannah slammed the door closed as quickly as she could. "We cannot let those bugs get out."

Ian and Allison nodded their heads in agreement and resumed their duties calming the passengers. As they made their way down the aisle, they failed to notice a shiny green insect scuttle across the floor and up Hannah's pants leg...
