Chapter 20: The Family Reunion

I ringed the doorbell again.

Fern asked, "Are they up yet?"

I shrugged. "We're not really morning people."

I ring the bell, it's only 9, they can't really still be asleep. I heard someone trudging down the stairs. The door opened and Julies opened the door.

"Hey little bro, what's shaken?"

"Alex?! Why are you here?"

I leaned on the doorway. "Can't I visit my family once in a while."

"No." And he quickly closed the door.

"What the-" I kicked the door open. "I have every right to kick your ass Jewels."

He just stood there dumbfounded. "How did you kick the door open, it was-"

"I keep fit, unlike you staying at home playing video games and eating potato chips."

"I do not do that....all the time."

Leo coughed. "Potato couch."

"At least I'm have an average height, shorty."

"Did he just called me short, watch out man. I'll go all human torch on you."

Jason held him back. "Stop it Leo."

Julies snorted and looked back at me. "Who are these people?"

"These people, are my friends. And we need a place to crash. And if you don't mind I'm going to go in my own house."

I pushed him away as I went inside the house. I plopped down on the couch. Everyone else sat next to me while Julies sat across from me from the other couch.

"Everyone, this is my annoying younger brother, Julies."

Julies grunted, not satisfied by my introduction.

"This is Leo Valdez, son of Vulcan, Piper McClean, daughter of Venus, and Jason Grace, son of Jupiter." I said. "And you remember Fern Everglade, the faun."

Julies flinched. "Alex, why are you saying things in Roman term."

I bit my lip. "I can't say things in Greek form at the moment."

"How..."

I sighed. "Long story."

Piper said. "I'm actually a daughter of Aphrodite, not Venus."

Julies smiled. "You seem too hot to be a daughter of Aphrodite."

Jason put his arm around Piper. "That's why she's my girlfriend."

Julies held up his hands. "It was a compliment man, not trying to get your girl."

I rolled my eyes.

"And I'm a son of Hephaestus." Leo told him.

"Ugly blacksmith your daddy?"

Leo summoned fire on his hand. "You're going to turn into barbecue is you don't take that back."

Julies gulped. "Sorry, sheesh, Put that out before I have to call the fire department."

Leo reluctantly extinguished the fire.

My dad came down the stairs carrying a very large baseball bat.

I raised my eyebrow. "A baseball bat? Seriously?"

My dad hid the bat behind him. "It's alright honey, it's Alexandria with some friends."

My mom quickly came down the stairs. We heard some neighing at the front of the door.

Julies asked. "What was that?"

"Oh, that's Phoenix."

"Your horse?" He jumped off the couch and rushed to the door, opening it. "Whoa...."

Phoenix gallantly walked into the house. She shuffled her wings a little, showing off that she has wings and she knows it. I was wondering when you'll let me in.

My dad stuttered. "It's a pegasus, flying horse."

My mom was worried about something else. "It won't track anything into the house, will it?"

Phoenix neighed. How dare you accuse me do such a thing.

I said, "Don't worry Phoenix. Mom can we lead her to the backyard?"

"Y-yeah, that would be nice."

Awkwardly I walked out a full grown pegasus walk across the living room and out the backyard.

Why are you kicking me out?

"I'm sorry Phoenix, but my mom doesn't really like the fact that you walked across her floor."

She snorted. She should be more worried of Blackjack if I were her.

I chuckled, "I'm sure she would. Just stay here, for now, and help yourself to some grass. Just keep away from my mom's petunias."

Stay away from the petunias, always stay away from the petunias.

I went back into the the living room.

"Sweetie, how come you were talking with that horse."

Julies hugged my mom. "Alexandria is gone, don't worry mom. You still have me."

"Shut up Jewels, mom I can talk to horses, can you accept that from me?"

She hugged the life out of me. "I don't care about that, I'm just glad you're in one piece. But how filthy you look and you smell like that horse. Go wash up immediately."

I blushed. "Mom!"

"Go, and your friends will have their turns afterwards."

Leo sniffed himself. "I don't smell that badly."

Jason sniffed Leo. "Dude, you smell like charcoal 24/7."

Mom told Julies. "The boys will use your shower."

"What?!"

"Julies..."

"I don't want my shower to smell like a barnyard," he said talking about Fern.

"Hey!"

"No offense."

Fern sniffled. "None taken, I guess."

"Fine," I said. "C'mon, my mom was always the clean-freak."

To be a good host, I let everyone shower first before I do. I actually took my time, I had a long quest. And I didn't know the last time I had a satisfying shower. Finally, I got out and change to some casual clothes that I left here. I headed downstairs. Everyone was there but my parents, they must have went to buy some groceries. Then I heard the sounds of arguing.

"Why the Hades is all my shampoo gone?!" Julies demanded.

I stifled a chuckle.

"Why are you asking me?" Fern asked. "It it because half of me is fur?"

"Pretty much."

"Well you shouldn't blame me, Leo used most of it."

"What the hey man!"

"I got carried away man, it was vanilla scent."

I coughed. "You still use that shampoo scent?"

"It's awesome okay?"

"I know, now I smell vanilla fresh," Leo grinned.

"Okay man, I have enough of you man."

Leo grinned. "And what will you do about it... Jewels?"

"I'm going to make you an exact copy of your dad," he smirked. "But at least you'll look way better that you actually look like right now."

"Julies!" I said.

Leo cracked. He threw a fireball towards Julies. I went in front of Julies just in time. Like in Kung Fu Panda 2, I grabbed the fireball and shot it back to Leo, knowing he could disperse it at his touch. I gently nursed my burnt hand, it wasn't hurt that bad. But it stinged like Hades.

Julies was still stunned how he was so close to being burned to a crisp.

He knelt beside me. "Alexandria, are you okay? Me and my big mouth."

Leo knelt next to me. "You got that right, loud mouth."

"Fire freak."

"Roman nerd."

"Okay guys, stop it." Piper scolded.

Piper used her charmspeak so they did. But they continued to glare at each other.

"I'm okay you guys, just stop fighting."

"I'm sorry Alex, now it's twice I've done this."

Julies growled, "Twice?"

"Well half of that was my fault, too." Jason piped in.

"Not helping," I said quietly to Jason.

"Alexandria why are you hanging out with them, all they can do it hurt you."

Leo protested. "As if, she's kick my ass more time's than I can count."

Fern coughed. "Which is a lot."

"Hey!"

I sighed. "I think we should all calm down at the moment and-"

"No Alex," Julies cutted off. "I'm going to beat this pipsqueak to a pulp if-"

He was cut off by the sound of the doorbell. I sighed with a relief, I want to thank whoever rang that doorbell to pause this argument.

Fern opened the door, revealing no other than Samantha Peterson, a.k.a Snotty Sally. She's the most nosy, pestering gossiper you'll ever meet.

I gulped, I take that 'thanking whoever rang that doorbell' thing back.

Samantha's jaw dropped, "Holy crap, Alexandria?!"

I stood up and awkwardly said, "H-hi Samantha."

"How, where, when, what the hell happened with the fighting and drugs and all that-"

Fern slammed the door before she could finish.

"Something tells me she shouldn't know Alexandria's here..."

"If she knows, everyone knows," I said.

Jason asked, "Why is that?"

"She's a gossiper, she can start a whole season of Gossip Girl if she wants to."

Julies smiled nervously, "She isn't that bad..."

I hit him. "Why in Hades is she here? You just have to go out with the most nosiest girl in school!"

"I didn't mean to."

"I'm practically in America's Most Wanted!" I said as I hit him with each word.

"I'm sorry," he said rubbing his bruised arm.

"Sorry isn't going to help!"

"I know, I know."

"This is affecting you, mom and dad too, you should have known better! Now everyone in L.A will know you guys as related to me, a fugitive!"

"Honey..." mom said.

The doorbell rang again. Samantha. I groaned and stormed to the door. I opened it, and looked at her, staring directly into her eyes. Remembering what Chiron taught me, I snapped my fingers. I suddenly grabbed Piper and went behind the door so Samantha wouldn't see me.

Samantha blinked. "What just happened?"

"Uh... you rang the doorbell and I answered," Piper somehow knowing what I just did then rolled her eyes, "Duh."

Samantha scoffed at Piper who she saw as an enemy.

"Whatever," She said then walked over to my brother and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Hey Julies, I thought we were going to have a date today at the mall."

I gagged behind the door and Julies gave me a glare.

Julies rubbed his neck. "We have uh, guests. Maybe we can move it next week?"

"But I have dance practice next week." Samantha whined

I coughed and muttered. "Don't really know why you have them, you got two left feet."

"I heard that",Samantha said to Piper who held her hands in defense.

"Sorry Sammy, we can change it the next time we're both available."

"It's probably because it this thing here, isn't it?" Samantha demanded while eyeing Piper.

Piper growled. "Who are you calling a thing?"

Jason stepped forward. "Don't call my girlfriend a thing."

Samantha looked at Jason and gave a flirty smile while twirling her hair. Oh god, someone hand me a bucket.

"Oh I didn't see you there. What's your name?"

"Jason," Piper answered for him. "And he's taken if you haven't notice."

Then Samantha looked at Leo. Yup, I want to kick her ass right now.

"Oh, I didn't see you there."

"Yeah, I get that a lot."

"Maybe you're available, since Julies is taken by some Navajo or whatever you are."

Piper's nostrils flared. "I am a Cherokee, get your facts right."

"I'll have to pass on it, thanks." Leo said, getting uncomfortable.

Samantha touched Leo's shoulder and gave a flirty pout. "You're going to say no to me?"

"Yeah, sorry."

Samantha pressed closer to Leo. "Please, I can be awfully lonely."

Leo choked. "Uh... maybe I can-"

Julies punched Leo in the nose, and Leo tumbled to the ground. He clutched his nose and blood fell on the ground. I held back a gasp, since it would only uncover my presence.

Fern gasped. "Julies!"

"How dare you, Samantha," Julies growled. "We were together for a month and you go off flirting with people riht in front of my face. I heard some rumors you were doing that in school, but I didn't believe it... Until now."

"Julies I-"

"We are so over. Out of my house."

"But-"

"Out!"

Samantha shuffled out of the house and I slammed the door behind her.

"I hope you rot in Hades," I growled to her.

"And you." Julies pointed to Leo who was still groaning on the floor.

"You think you can just waltz in here, use up all my shampoo, and then flirt with my now ex-girlfriend?!"

"Ugh, sorry?"

"Get out of my face."

Jason shoved Julies. "Hey, don't talk to him like that."

"What would you do if he done the same thing to you?" Julies demanded.

Jason was about to say something but closed his mouth.

"I thought so."

Julies and Jason were at a stare down. There was a heavy atmosphere in the air.

Piper then said, using her charmspeak. "Okay all of you guys just calm down, we don't need all of this drama."

All of us took a deep breath, we were all calmed down. I went over to the kitchen and grabbed a pack of frozen peas. Jason helped Leo lie on the couch as I handed him the peas.

"Thanks," Leo muttered.

"Don't think that just because you're the one with the ice pack, doesn't mean I'll forgive you for what you  did."

"Oh."

"So apologize."

"What!"

"Yeah, apologize to me." Julies smirked.

"I'll be with you in a sec, Julies."

"Fine," Leo groaned. "Sorry for being a bad guest."

"Yeah whatever."

I glared at Julies. "I didn't forget you either. That was uncalled for and immature Julies. You should have thought better than to that, especially in front of Snotty Sally."

"So apologize to him."

Julies gritted his teeth. "I'm sorry for you not being a good guest."

"Julies..."

"Okay. I'm sorry for being a bad host."

"Go up to your rooms and think what you two did."

"But we already apologized." Julies and Leo whined in unison,

"Go."

"Yes, mother." Julies trudged up the stairs.

Leo sat on the couch and looked up to me. "I don't have a room."

"The guest room," I said. "Must I think of everything?"

"Fine!" He walked up the stairs too.

Jason and Piper applauded as I bowed down to them.

"Couldn't have done it any better." Piper smiled.

"Even with your charmspeak?" Jason asked.

"Let me rephrase that. Could have done it better."

I stuck my tongue at her.

Fern sniffled and we turned to him.

"Something wrong?" Jason asked.

"Samantha flirted with two of you guys, but she barely looked at me."

We burst out laughing.
