Chapter 7: Julies, The Jealous One

I dreamt of myself in what looked like a mine. It didn’t look like any mine, though. The mine held crystals of every kind like emeralds and jades. They seemed to sparkle in the moon light. I urged myself to grab one, but there was an evil aura around them so I resist. I walked further into the mine trying to find an exit. The crystals looked like a trail for me to follow. I thought they might lead me to the exit so I followed it. I saw some sort of light in the distance, I ran faster and faster.

Instead I stumbled into a room. No, it wasn’t a room in was this huge garden. Flowers and plants from all over the world surrounded a huge tree. At first I thought this maybe Hera’s or Demeter’s sacred garden, or even the Garden of the Hesperides.

I walked to the tree, but that evil aura grew even stronger there. Then I saw a lady swinging from a branch of the tree. She looked half asleep, she had earthy skin. She looked about in her 20s or 30s but she looked very wise. She wore a gown made of rainbows, waves, and constellations. Her hair was green with leaves growing and falling out, like her hair was an endless cycle of the seasons.

She then said to me, “Young majesty, come with me and we’ll see the universe.”

Her voice sounded so sleepy that I was about to listen to her. But as I drew closer, that aura pulled me in faster. I turn to my senses and tried to pull away.

“Get away from me!”

“No princess, come and join me.”

“I’m not a princess! Why do you with want me?”

“Why, you will change the great prophecy!”

With that she pulled me in. Leaves started to tangle around me. I couldn’t move, when the last leaf covered my face I heard the lady laugh, she then sprouted wings full of landscapes and the different animals in the world. That is when I knew I just met Gaea, Mother Earth.

I woke up in my cabin. I somehow managed to crash into the floor. I dressed up and went outside.

I’ve been here for a couple of weeks now. It’s a Monday so, I ditched my activities and hanged out by the cabins. I still couldn’t believe the the minor gods also sired children. There were 8 new cabins including the Hades one. There was Iris, goddess of rainbows and messengers of the gods; Hypnos, god of sleep; Nemesis, goddess of revenge; Nike, goddess of victory; Hebe, goddess of youth; Tyche, goddess of fortune and luck and Hecate, goddess of magic. I planned to have a peek in the different cabins. So I can get used to the place. Don’t blame me, imagine your whole life you loved Greek mythology and one day you are in a demigod life. Everyday you train to be a hero, battling monsters and using your demigod powers. Someone has to be crazy if they think this life would be dangerous.

I looked at the different cabins. Many matched the god’s powers, like the Hephaestus cabin like a factory and I was pretty scared of the pollution of the smoke. The Demeter cabin had a cabin made of roots and plants, and had a little garden beside it. The Ares cabin had that scary rock n’ roll/ milatary theme. I went to peek in the different cabins. Since the Gods hapilly gave their blood to me, I could look at their cabins.

I first went into the Zeus cabin, it had the Greek architecture with corinthian columns. It looked like a huge temple, but also like a bank. Thunderbolts and eagles were carves into the building. I peeked inside, the ceiling had a real cloudy day sky. The most noticible thing in their was a huge, twenty foot marble statue of Zeus. I stood there in awe in being in such a presence even if it was just a statue.

I went to the next cabin of Hera. Hera’s cabin looked like a smaller version of cabin one, the door had peacock feathers embroidened into it. Vines creeped up the columns. When I looked in, it was pretty empty and freezing cold. There was a huge statue of Hera, about 10 feet tall. Her face looked like she was judging me, so I closed the door.

I went to the next one one, the Demeter cabin. It looked like it was made out of entirely out of plant, it looked like the straw house in the 3 little pigs. But it was really light brown and the porch had flowers growing freely around them. I looked more closely on the roof and saw a few chocolate easter bunnies on it. I had a weird feeling that the Hermes cabin did something about it. I looked in and it looked kind of like a green house. The beds kind of looked like garden beds, very natural. And I smelled a strong smell of tulips and carnations.

Miranda Gardiner looked up from her gardening and waved hello, “Hey, want to smell my hybrid?”

Miranda had a dark tan probably from all the hours in the sun from gardening. She had long brown hair which she wore a gardener hat on top of.

I looked at the plant she was talking about. It looked like a crossbreed of tulips, carnation and sunflowers. I took a sniff and it smelled pretty good.

I nodded and said, “I bet the Aphrodite cabin would love this to be a perfume.”

Miranda gave a sigh, “I’ve been working on this thing for weeks, I’m glad this is complete.”

“What are the chocolate bunnies on the roof for?” I asked.

Miranda and her siblings literaly groaned.

“I hate them, those Stoll brothers! They went too far with the chocolate bunny one. We’ll get them back, just you wait!”

I then left the cabin making plans on how to get revenge on the Hermes cabin.

I then went to the Poseidon. Percy Jackson wasn’t there, he was at the Roman camp. It was very harbor like. I was half on land and half in the lake. It reminded me of a pub by the harbor. I peered in and caught the scent of the salty air. Inside it was fashioned with coral windows and fishnets hanging on the walls. I decided not to pry any longer and went to the next cabin.

I looked at the Ares cabin. It looked like a milatary base, with a barbed fence surrounding the roof. I heard some rock music turned up from inside. I took the courage to look inside. Inside were poorly constructed beds, a stereo system surrounded the room. It was painted red just like the outside of the cabin. I even noticed a stuffer boar’s head, that had an apple in it’s mouth. Then the music stopped and Clarisse the cabin’s counseler stared at me. She gave me a grin and told me to join in. She had dirty blond hair that was sadly cut unevenly. But it sure made her more buffer which was pretty scary.

I shuffled unconfortably, “I don’t want to disturb you guys.”

I tried to back away, but somone shut the door behind me. Sherman a buff blond guy with a scar by his eye put his arm around me. A lot of guys like to put his arm around me, I noticed. He then led me to sit down across Clarisse at the table.

“Thanks for letting the Stoll become my punching bags. Besides why go? You have some Ares blood and we want to see if you are worthy.”

I gulped. “Didn’t I already prove myself worthy? Remember capture the flag?”

Clarisse glared at me. “Nevertheless, we will have an arm wrestle of course.”

I was trapped, I couldn’t go. This was litterally the daughter of the god of war. If I back down, I’ll be a disgrace of the Ares blood in me.

I miserably said, “Okay.”

She held out her buff arm, and I put out my thin one. I was so going to die. I prayed to Ares to give me a break just this once. Like make my arm have super human strength or something. Chris, Clarisse’s boyfriend, would be referee.

“Well, you know the rules. Pin the other person’s arm to the table. Cheating is allowed, and strength is required. Get ready, get set, go!”

I held my ground, Clarisse and I were in equal strength. Maybe Ares was helping me out. I gave a silent prayer that if I win, I’ll give him an offering. I then remember that Chris said that cheating was allowed. I faintly remember Julies teaching me a key to win an arm wrestle. You have to sort of twist you wrist to make the opponent lose. So I use the rest of my strength to twist my wrist a little then I heard a thud. I saw Clarisse’s arm pinned by mine. Everyone’s jaw was wide open just as big as Clarisse’s. She was red with embarrasment and beaded with sweat.

Before someone started to make fun of Clarisse that could ruin her reputation I said, “Wow, thanks Clarisse for going easy on me.”

She stammered, “I-”

I interupted, “You showed me that trick to win by twisting my wrist to get the upperhand.”

“Wait I-”

I turned to everyone, “She gave the trick so I can prove myself worthy of this cabin. Did it work?”

Everyone then started to slap me in the back and shaking my hands. I gave a silent thank you to Ares. Then Clarisse got up from the table and walked towards me. Chris tried to calm Clarisse down but she just pushed him away. When she stood before me I was ready for whatever she’ll do, but she just held out her hand. We then shook it, and we seemed like very good friends. I left the cabin just like it was when I came in, music blaring even louder than before.

As I headed to the Athena cabin, I saw the huge firepit at the center of the cabins. Some little girl was tending the fire. Her job reminded me of Hestia who gave up her chair to Dionysus and now tends the fire of Mount Olympus. I then remembered to give an offering to Ares. I dug into my pocket and brought out a pack of strawberry flavor gum. I tossed it into the fire and prayed it to Ares.

The Athena cabin has an owl carved at a door of a huge gray building. I went inside and I knew I was in heaven. It was a huge library filled with I bet books on Greek mythology, probably in original ancient Greek. Tables had stacks of books and piles of paper that will put Harvard and Stanford put to shame. Annabeth noticed me and coax me to come.

“Hey, you want to see my plans?”

I saw a blueprint of a temple she was drawing.

“Do you think it needs or anything? I’m thinking of some stained glass windows and corinthian and iconic columns in the building.”

I looked at her drawing and noticed a problem right away.

“You’ve forgottten the pediments and the friezes for the outside of the temple.”

Annabeth looked at the blueprint and groaned, “I can’t believe I didn’t see that! Now I have to redo it again.”

“Or maybe you don’t.”

“What are you-”

I took her blueprint and erased the small parts of the building. I then added the details she missed.

“There you go. No pain, more gain.”

“Thank you.”

She then turned to her half brother Malcolm. He was a blond athletic guy with the same striking gray eyes as Annabeth.

“How did you not notice this!”

Malcolm winked at me and said, “Sorry, I guess I was excited as you were with the plans.”

As the two continued to argue, I shuffled out of the door. Hoping to sneak back in and check out a dozen books or two.

The Artemis cabin looked like a simple silver building. But at night it glows, it was very enchanting. I looked inside and there were carved drawing of wild animals and deer or stag. The only people who use this cabin are the Hunters of Artemis. Immortal maidens who travel and hunt with Artemis. But the only thing you have to sacrafice is boys, all year round. I have nothing but respect for those girls, but I think mankind still needs girls like me.

The Apollo cabin looked as simple as the Artemis cabin. But in the sunlight it looked like it was made entirely out of gold. Before I got blinded by the reflection of the sun and how rich I could be I went in. Inside looked half music studio and hospital. A few kids were in scrubs reading a few books in anatomy. Others were in the music studio playing and singing a few songs. I walked in and Will Solace noticed me. He looked like the surfer types back in California. He was a cute blond guy with enchanting blue eyes that I couldn’t stop staring.

“Hey Alex.” He put his arm around my shoulders and led me around the cabin. He nodded at a bunch of his siblings who were learning about the human brain. What truly amazed me was that they were making the exact model of the human brain.

One of them asked, “Ever since I came here, I always wonder why the cadecues is the symbol of hospitals as well as Hermes.”

Will tried to impress me and act as if he knew, “It’s something mortals came up with.”

I cleared my throat. “Wrong. When Hermes gave Apollo the lyre, in return Apollo gave him his wand.”

Will grinned, “There’s no proof that Hermes’ cadecues was Apollo’s.”

“Where else did Hermes did get the wand?” I sneered.

“But in Greek potery, Hermes held onto a wand that looks entirely different.”

“The mortals couldn’t look at the gods in the true form neither their items. So they probably made it look simple not knowing the true for of the wand.”

I should’ve have stopped because he had nothing elso to say.

“Asclepius, not only was your half-brother but the first physician. He had a staff that was entwined with snakes- just like the cadecues- because back then they thought that they new the secrets of the earth and knew the causes and cure of diseases.”

“But-”

I then did my big finish, “The cadecues may be a symbol of Hermes but it also stands for Apollo and modern medicine.”

Will looked speechless and everyone in the cabin watch in awe as I outsmart their counseler. My face lit with a smile as I walked out of the cabin to the sound of applause.

I headed towards the Hephaestus cabin. Everyone should be in the warship, including Leo. It was pretty much a factory like motor home with smokestacks on the roof. The door looked like it was made of thick metal, probably celestial bronze. The place was unclean and messy, filled with a bunch of scraps and junk. The cabin had steel bunks folded against the walls.

“I didn’t expect any visitors today,” a voice said.

I looked around and saw some guy in one of the beds. He was in a body cast from head to toe. He looked like someone going through the mummification process.

He said, “I’m Jake Mason”.

“What did this to you?”

“Beckendorf, the last- last counseler tamed this bronze dragon. It went berserk when he died. I was the one of the many who tried to destroy it. Leo tamed it with his fire powers and attached wings on it, then he rode on it in a quest he went in.”

“Wait, Leo flew on a dragon?”

“Yeah, pretty much.” Jake continued, “It broke during the quest. So we’re reusing the head for the prow of the warship.”

I gave him a smug smile and asked, “How badly do you want to get out of that body cast.”

He groaned, “Very, very badly.”

I pressed on my ring and went to the Apollo section. Then pressed on the full body treatment. I gave him the elixer and before I knew it he was doing jumping jacks.

“Thank the gods, I owe you.”

When he left, I heard a bunch of noise in the other room. I peered inside and saw Leo, building some sort of machine. I sneaked up behind his, then I noticed a folded piece of paper in his jacket pocket. It looked all worn out, as if it went through a long journey. Leo still hasn’t noticed me, so I sort of borrow it. The term “stole” seems to “harsh”. I unfolded the paper, and I held back a chuckle. It was a cute drawing of the boat that looked like it had been drawn by a 5-year old. But, I think I saw it before. I looked more closely at the details of the boat then saw the mast, a picture of a dragon. It was the battleship that the Hephaestus cabin was making, but why from the plans of a kindergarten art project. But it looked so darn cute.

I gave a sigh, “Awww.”

Leo whipped around and was startled by me. He then toppled backwards from his chair. He got up and shrugged his jacket back.

He said slowly, “Don’t. Ever. Do. That.”

I showed him the drawing of the boat.

I cooed, “It looks so adorable. How old were you when you drew that?”

He snatched the drawing back. Then stuffed it back to his jacket pocket.

“Five,” He admitted.

“Where’s the rest of your art profolio?”

“Leave me alone.”

“How come you didn’t write your name? People won’t know who was the talented artist of it.”

“Quit it.”

“That should belong on the refrigerator.”

He gave me a sarcastic laugh. “Ha ha ha.”

“No, it should be in a plaque. No, even better. An art museum.”

“Stop.”

“I’ll call it, The Original Argo.”

“Very creative”

“Can I have it, I have a thing for “original” works of art.”

He arched an eyebrow. “No,”

I whined, “Why not?”

“N-O.”

“Wow,” I said. “You know how to spell.”

“Wait, what?!”

I raised my hands, defensivly. “Don’t blame me, you’re the one with the dyslexia.”

Leo looked hurt. “I-it’s personal.”

I chuckled, “It’s only a joke.”

Leo pertended to sniffle. “Pass me a tissue.”

He then went back to fixing the machine. It looked like some sort of engine. I grabbed a wrench and helped him out. He finally stopped, and let me do it for him. He peered over my shoulder to see what I was doing.

“You need to re-oil the chain, then have to wire the-”

I stopped and looked at him with a blank stare.

“Let me tell you something.”

He gave me a confused look. “What?”

“I have no idea what you just said just now. So please, stop talking.”

He gave me a grin. “Sure, sorry for disturbing you.”

“Thank you.”

Then I went back to re-oiling the chain and wiring the engine back together. After I was done, he applauded.

“Well done.”

I bowed. “Thank you, thank you. Sorry, can’t do any autographs.”

He pointed out, “Hey look, you missed a spot.”

I muttered, “Liar.”

“I was kidding. Nice job, newbie.”

I coughed. “Says the guy who can’t even rewire Harley’s system.”

“Hey, he’s been in camp longer than me.”

“And you fogot one small detail,” I said. “He’s 8!”

Leo huffed, “So?”

I laughed. “Seriously? That’s your comeback?”

“What’s your problem? The kid’s 8, so what?”

I started to crack up.

Leo crossed his arms. “You look like you’re having a stroke.”

“Ha, shut up.”

“Yeah, yeah. Now I need to fix the other engines.”

I rolled my eyes. “What engines?”

He pointed to the far corner. I saw a stack, no mountain of broken engine parts.

I stood there with my mouth open. “You know what? I have stuff to do.”

Oh.” Now Leo rolled his eyes. “You have more of this “stuff” you got to do?”

“Yeah. Good luck finishing up with Mount Everest.”

I left the room as Leo called, “Can’t you reconsider helping me out?”

The Aphrodite cabin had a painted roof, with pillars and a blue-and-white checkerboard deck with steps, with gray walls. It reminded me of a 'Barbie house' with a pink door, lace curtains, and potted flowers by the window. The inside of the cabin smelled like Victoria’s Secret’s perfume section. The curtains and beds are had the colors blue and green. There was a chest by every bed probably filled with their designer outfits and makeup. Hollywood movie stars and singers, and with the pictures of their family members were taped all over the walls.

Piper saw me and said, “I’m making these people say who they like in camp”.

“Ooh, what a nice game. I should be going-”

This guy then led me back to Piper.

“Thanks Michel.”

Michel winked at me, and then went back to the others.

Piper smirked, “You could go first”.

“Oh, I’m not really the gossipy type.” I said uncomfortably. “Besides, I’m new in camp. Why will I like-”

“You’ve left me with not choice,” Piper sighed. “Come on, Alexandria. Who do you really like? Go ahead and spill the beans.”

I felt myself trying to be forced to say it. She was using her charmspeak on me. I plugged my ears and started to sing. Piper then looked into my eyes, and I swear it was like she was reading my mind.

She finally said, “Fine. I guess it won’t work on you.”

One of the girls giggled. “Luckily it’s not Leo you like.”

I laughed, “Why?”

The Aphrodite girl looked at me sadly. “I’m sorry to say this. But Leo looks at every girl he sees, and then he puts you on his list.”

I let myself choke on that, his list? The others noticed I look queasy and let me sit down.

I looked at Piper, “You know him the most. Is it really true?”

Piper banged her fist on the table. “Yeah, he fell in love with Khione, a minor god from the enemy. He also fell in love with Jason’s sister, Thalia who was also a hunter of Artemis.”

The sound of hunter made everyone in the Aphrodite cabin curse.

Michel shivered. "They're a group of hot, immortal girls who hunt with Artemis but turn there back on love.”

“Wow, how gruesome.” I said, “I guess Aphrodite and Artemis don’t really get along.”

I then snuck out of the Aphrodite cabin, before they grill me on even more personal questions.

I then headed to the Dionysus cabin. It looked like a wooden lodge, only it’s been infiltrated by vines. I went inside and caught a strong smell of wine. The place looked like a wine storage, it looked really empty. Only one person lives here, Pollux.

Pollux saw me looking at the different wines. “Hey, do want to try my new grape juice?”

Pollux was a blond, slightly pudgy guy. He had unusual violet eyes, the same color of wine.

“Sure”.

He handed me a glass of purple liquid. At first I thought it was wine, and if he was trying to get me drunk. But I then remembered that Dionysus gave me the ability to not get easily drunk.

I said, “Cheers”.

The drink tasted as sweet as grape juice but a little sour like wine. As I finished the drink, Pollux looked disappointed.

“How come you’re not drunk?”

“Wait, what?”

He quickly explained, “I’ve been trying to make a formula to make a type of wine for kids”.

“Well it could’ve work.”

He apologized, “Sorry for not telling you. Here”- he gave me a dozen juice packets- “I want you to have a sample of my invention”.

I thanked him, and then pressed my ring. I then inserted the packets into the ring. I found out I can insert anything into my ring, as long as it’s not living things.

The Hades cabin looked like a vampire castle in the old horror movies. I wouldn’t be surprise if dark rain clouds surrounded only that cabin. I walked closer to the cabin. Skeletons (I don’t know if their fake or real) were used as decorations all over the cabin. All the grass around it was dead, and weeds were carelessly all over the place. I opened up the door and went inside.

When I went in, the door automatically closed shut. I saw what caused it; there was some sort of machine to automatically do that. Whoever thought of that was a genius; it could’ve freaked some Hermes kid. I looked around the cabin, cobwebs filled every inch of the place. Then there were books, I got one, and had to blow away the dust. I cracked it open and it was a book on summoning the dead in Ancient Greek. I browsed through the book, it was filled with the proper way on how to summon the dead. I placed the book back into the shelf, and quickly left the cabin.

After that I headed to the Hermes cabin, to give the Stoll’s their present. When I knocked on the door, Travis opened it with Connor behind him.

He leaned onto the door pane. “What gives me the pleasure?”

I showed them a pack of one of Pollux’s wine packets.

“I have wine packets that I think you would find useful.”

“Seriously?” Connor asked. “I’ve heard of Pollux’s experiments.”

Travis tried to grab a packet but I just moved it to my other hand.

“You don’t expect that I’ll give it for free, don’t you?”

The twins glared at me. Connor asked, “What do we got to do?”

Travis said, “Thanks to you, we had to go see if Clarisse need any help.”

“She used us for punching bags.” Connor whined.

“How many drachmas do you have?”

They led me inside and went to their beds. There was a hollow, wooden floor panel filled with golden drachmas. The two muttered as they give every coin in their savings. They were about the size as golf balls, with a face of a god and the empire state building on each side. I counted at least 4 drachmas.

I then smirked. “All of them”.

The twins looked surprised.

Connor stammered, “W-what do you mean?”

“You’ve been here longer than I know. And I’m not dumb; you have way more than this. When I was in this cabin, there were many secret compartments filled with drachmas. I was nice enough not to get any of them.”

Travis asked, “You’ve found all of them?”

“All 81 secret compartments with a few secret passages I accidentally bumped into. Now pay up.”

The twins muttered a curse but went through all of the hidden compartments. By then I counted up to 100 drachmas. I tossed the Stolls the wine packets. They started to discuss what they can do with it.

I then asked, “Do you know how to contact your relatives in this camp?”

Connor answered, “Demigods can’t use phones or anything to do with communication. It’s like giving yourself to monsters on a silver platter.”

Travis pointed out, “There is a way demigods can communicate, though.”

“What is-?”

The twins grabbed me by the hand and led me to the Iris cabin. It looked like a rainbow palace, it was so girly. It was as girly as the Aphrodite cabin, and the Aphrodite cabin was like a Barbie mansion. It had a garden with a rainbow pattern, windows with rainbow curtains. Connor then knocked on the door. Some buff dude with a military cut opened the door.

He glared at the brothers. “What do you want Stolls?

Travis grinned, “We just want this young lady to talk with her family”.

He gave them a look of suspicion. Then he held out his hand that I shook. His biceps have a tattoo of a rainbow, which seems really weird.

“The name’s Butch, son of Iris.”

“Y-you’re a son of Iris?”

Butch groaned. “Seriously, why do people not believe that?”

I repeated again. “Sorry, but…you’re a son of Iris?”

The Stoll brothers started to snicker. Butch glared at them again.

“Go out the back, you’ll see a fountain. The twins will teach you.”

He then slammed the door.

“Wow,” I said. “Nice guy.”

“Nah.” Connor told me. “He’s just grumpy.”

Travis said, “Probably from the time we-”

Connor put his hand over Travis’ mouth.

Connor interrupted, “-did nothing to Butch’s outfits.”

I muttered, “Right”.

They led me behind the Iris cabin, standing there was a huge fountain. It was made of marble with detailed carvings. The fountain sprayed water up in the air causing a rainbow, it was beautiful.

Connor bowed to Travis, “You may do the honors”.

Travis bowed too but bonked his head with Connor.

Travis groaned, “Well thanks little bro.”

I asked, “So what do you do here?”

Travis explained, “You’re going to do an instant message”.

I was confused. “I thought we can’t use anything to do with communication.”

Connor smacked his brother in the back of the head. Man, these guys are like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, only they lost a few, okay, a lot of pounds.

Connor corrected, “Not instant message, its Iris- message”.

“Oh,” I said sarcastically. “Iris, as in the goddess of the rainbow.”

“Right”, Travis grinned. “When Iris isn’t too busy, she can carry out messages for the demigods.”

I forgot about that. Iris is the messenger of the gods as well as Hermes is.

Travis explained, “First, you need a rainbow.”

He gestured to the fountain making a rainbow.

“Second,” Connor said. “You need to make an offering.”

Travis elbowed me, “Like one of our drachmas from our entire life’s savings”.

I pressed on my ring and summoned a golden drachma out.

Connor then said, “Now repeat this and throw the drachma into the rainbow”.

Travis told me what to say. At first I didn’t trust them. Maybe when I’ll throw my drachma they’ll go get it back or something. But, I’ll have 99 other coins, so who cares. I raised the coin over my head, I felt a little dumb. But I continued.

“O goddess, accept my offering.”

I threw the coin into the rainbow, having it disappear without a trace. I missed my annoying younger brother. He should probably at home.

I requested, “Julies Olympia in Los Angeles, California”.

The mist started to materialize my brother. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a red polo shirt. He was in the bathroom of our room, and was looking at himself in the mirror. Julies was combing his hair in different ways, acting all vain. He started to make looks with his face, but it looked more like he was having a seizure.

I shouted, “Hey Narcissus, done flirting with yourself”.

He turned around and stared at me.

“Hey, Jewels stop staring! It’s creeping me out!”

He put his hand towards the message, causing it to blur.

He muttered, “That’s not possible.”

I laughed. “Welcome to my life.”

He looked at me. “Alex, what in Roman name is this?”

I smirked, “This is in Greek name. It’s called Iris-messaging.”

"Much more better if it's Arcus-messaging."

"No such thing, Jewels," I said.

“What do you want?”

I gasped. “Why can’t I see my little brother in this awesome life I’m having. And guess what? Over here, demigods are dyslexic and ADHD, so no school for us.”

He cried, “Liar!”

Connor and Travis appeared behind me.

“It’s true,” They said at once.

Connor grinned, “Nice sister by the way. The talk of the town.”

Travis put his arm around me. “So who are you?”

Julies glared at them. “I’m her younger twin brother, and I’m a fan for Romans. And take your arm off her before I-”

I grabbed the Stoll brothers’ ears and sighed. “Aw, are you getting worried about me Jewels?”

Julies crossed his arms. “Shut up, I care about my younger sister.”

I let go of the twin’s ears.

Travis rubbed his ear and pointed out, “You said you were her younger twin brother.”

Julies turned bright red. “Something is with you besides your dyslexia.”

Connor asked, “So you guys are twins like Artemis and Apollo?”

Julies muttered, “Diana and Apollo”.

Travis stuck out his tongue. “This is the Greek life; learn how to say it right.”

Connor told him, “We’re twins, too. I’m Connor-”

Travis said, “And I’m Travis”.

Then they said in unison, “And together we're the Stoll brothers”.

Julies and I said nothing, we were completely silent.

Then Julies coughed, “Mercury”.

Travis shoved Connor. “I told you we should do the back flip thing.”

Connor shoved Travis back. “And I told you, we’re not in the circus.”

Julies eyed me. “So you can take care of yourself?”

“These guys are terrified of me.” I looked at the Stolls, “Am I right boys?”

The twins stopped fighting. Travis stammered, “Y-yeah sure”.

Connor stammered, “We’re completely terrified.”

Travis tried to whisper to Julies, completely ignoring the fact that I was right next to him. “You were born with the devil.”

I shoved him away.

Julies smirked. “The devil huh, I’ve been saying that my whole life. Besides, I still don’t believe that you are capable of taking care of your self.”

“Oh yeah?”

I pressed my ring and summoned a huge sword. I showed it to Julies face as he stared wide eye at me.

“I bet mom still doesn’t let you run with the safety scissors.”

The Stoll brothers snickered.

“What gives you the right to tease me?”

“’Cause I’m oldest.”

I then gave 2 loud whistles, one low one and one high one. Then this huge shadow landed on top of me. It started to slobber me, when it stopped. I knew it was my faithful dog, Cebury.

“Julies, meet Cebury.”

Julies stood there in awe. “You have a dog, a three- headed dog? That’s so unfair. Wait, you named her Cebury after Cerberus? How-”

I stammered. “Cerberus had this thing with this hellhound, don’t ask.”

Then I heard a neigh behind me. I turned and saw Phoenix, still as magnificent as ever.

Julies stammered, “And a horse, no not horse. A pegasus, you got a pegasus!”

Phoenix said to me, “Thank you milady. You save me from that rotten prison with that disgusting foal.”

“Yeah,” I said acting like it was nothing. “Just a gift, pretty cool, huh?”

“Pretty cool? I’m jealous, I’m-”

I coughed.

“I’m not jealous.” Julies protested. "Besides, I've seen better."

Phoenix whinnied. “Milady! I want permission to trample him.”

I calmed her down. “No Phoenix. Now you and Ceb go back home.”

Phoenix looked like she was about to cry. “Why? I rather live in that same cabin as that boar than that rude donkey.”

But she listened to my direction and galloped back to the stables with Ceb following behind.

Julies looked at his watch. “Almost noon, I got a date.”

“Ha, as if. Who?”

Connor and Travis were next to me again. “Yeah, who?”

Julies sighed, “Samantha Peterson”.

“Eww,” I groaned. “Snotty Sally? Wow, you really are desperate.”

“No I’m not.”

Then I noticed something on Julies’ face. I couldn’t believe I didn’t notice it earlier. It was practically the size of a mountain. On top of his forehead, slightly under his bangs is this huge zit. It looked like a huge volcano, just waiting to explode.

“Oh, my gods, Julies you have a gigantic zit on your forehead.”

“What, you’re lying!”

The twins shuffle to get a better view.

Travis tried not to laugh. “She’s right!”

Connor snickered. “That thing’s monstrous.”

“No, someone get me a mirror.”

He looked at the school’s mirror then banged his fist. He then cried out a loud yell, he must have banged it too hard.

I gasped. “Omg, you chipped a nail.”

The brothers stumbled back and started to laugh.

“Leave me alone, I’ll just cover it.”

“Cover what? Mount Everest!”

The Stoll brothers had tears coming out of their eyes. Julies came down to his knees.

He cried, “Why do you like to see me suffer?”

I finally calmed down.

“Okay, in my top drawer, there is a pink cream bottle. You have to put it on top of Mount St. Helen.”

Julies said, “No, I am not using girl merchandise”.

“It’s the only way; it’s at type of cream to hide zits, but temporarily. When you put it on, you can say goodbye to Mount Olympus. But in a few hours it will come back up like a mountain.”

“Fine, I’ll use it. I think I have some time. Thanks Alex.”

“No prob.”

“How come you get this life? No school, a pet dog and horse and can even fight with a letter opener.”

“It’s a sword, what’s wrong with you?”

“But, how did you get this life? Just because you were born first?”

I ordered the Stoll brothers to cover their ears and sing loudly. As they did I told Julies everything, from that day when we were born. I told him that our parent accepted it, the gifts with the nose thing, and my injection from the lord of the dead even that drop of blood that went into his mouth. After that, Julies touched his lip.

“I drank Roman god blood.”

I rubbed my nose. “Yeah, I wonder how many calories you gain with that.”

Julies then broke into a smile. “I drank Roman blood, even if it was a droplet and made me love Romans, that’s awesome.”

The picture started to shimmer. The fountain water was starting to disperse. And the rainbow started to fade.

I said to Julies, “Say hi to mom and dad for me. Ask them more on the subject; question them like the reruns you watch from “Law and Order”. I’ll send you some drachmas and instructions on how to reach me. The only bad thing in this life is no phones.”

Julies reached into his pocket and waved a phone in my face.

“Now that I’m an only child, I have a sweet new phone. Oh, and you’ll get your next allowance in the mail.”

“See ya, Jewels.”

“See you, sis.”

The rainbow vanished from the air. Julies and his new pet zit, Phil faded away. I was glad I could talk to Julies. I don’t care if he’s annoying, I’m just happy we can carry out a normal conversation. (This is my definition of a “normal” conversation.) The Stoll brothers pat me on the back.

Travis said, “Cool brother”.

“But seriously, why does he like Romans?” Connor muttered.

Travis agreed, “Some twin”.

Connor elbowed Travis. “They don’t have the awesome relationship we twins have.”

But they were wrong. This was more than a twin can ask for. It was getting dark. The Stoll brothers went back to their cabin for dinner. Then I went back to mine. I didn’t fell very hungry, so I skipped dinner. I went into my bed and under the covers.
