NO NEED TO COVER UP
"Nice to see you again, darling."
I paused for a second. That voice. It was it again. The calm tone that spoke yesterday yet tried to rape me. Ignoring it, I kept walking. I didn't want to miss any of the information during assembly. Did that make me a nerd? Or? Well whatever.
I felt a sharp object poke me. I sighed looking behind me. For a second my brain shut down because it couldn't believe what I saw. They went to the same school as me? Since when? I never noticed them. Was I that bad at socializing?
It was all of them just one soul missing. Michael, Matthew, and Carlos. They were supposed to be four. Where was the last one? What did I even care about. They were strangers to me.
"What do you guys want from me again?" I queried sternly, my voice barely being a whisper.
"Hey chill babe, we are not here for you. We are here for a detention slip. We know you miss us, you don't need to pretend," Michael stated with a smuggled smile on his face.
My nose scrunched up with the name, 'babe.' How dare him call me that? Did he take me for the other girls in this school? The ones that felt flattered when they were called that name. I rolled my eyes and stormed into the principal's office.
Why did he even lie to Hannah? He didn't want to accept the fact that he was going to be a rapist last night if whoever showed upup didn't show up. Back to that. Who was that?. My brother said a guy but who? Was someone watching us? Well thank the Lord Jesus for that person.
I tried to resist myself from the addictive temptation of reporting them to the police for sexual harassment. One hour in the dungeon - detention room - won't kill me right? I could even ask Michael who had caught him in the disgusting act of hurting a girl. Did his friends even know?
They should know right? They were friends and was probably seen everywhere together. I stubbornly decided to rest close to the wall near the principal's washroom.I didn't want to be anywhere close to these scumbag. Was I even the only girl he had tried that to?
Feeling something sharp hit my arm, I winced rubbing that area continuously to easde the pain. Seeing the thing that had hit me fall on the ground, I groaned and picked it up. It was a pen. I glared at them to see them smiling nonchalantly.
Suspecting that Matthew was the one that threw it with the wink he gave me, I tried aiming it at him. I didn't know why bad luck had to hit me when I least expected it. The pen was blocked by a woman's waist.
She had a defined shape. Her height not towering over me which made her look short and chubby. She wore a pencil skirt and a pencil heel. That was a combination that only one person used in the school.
I traced the body up. It was the principal. Seeing her face turn red, I put up a pleading look.
"Who did that?" She questioned furiously. Fear runs through my blood. My heart beating quickly. I couldn't even think straight.
Should I say it was me? I thought. No, no. I will get two detentions in one week.
"Don't let me ask that question again, I want the person to show up now."
"It's- it's me."
"No ma'am it was me rather." Matthew shifted his gaze to me, "No need to cover up my mistake for me."
She turned her head towards me and then at Matthew. I could see her eyes piercing through his soul. She gazed at me again this time narrowing her eyes to search my whole body. Damn. She must have noticed the clothes I had on. I never wore such clothes and she knew that.
"Miss Brown, what are you doing here?" with a calm tone, she asked me.
One thing I loved about myself were the good records I had at school. So seeing me in the principal's office was either because a teacher had sent me here to request for something for them or I was called to be recommended. I was the school's fastest runner. That was the only place my ego could rest on. Not me. Or my face. Or even body.
I sighed knowing that she'd be disappointed once I answered, "I was late for assembly. So I was sent to go for a detention slip."
"Miss Brown," she continued once she settled on a chair. "Since this is your first detention and I know it might not repeat, I guess I will have to-" A smile rushed to my lips. She was so going to remove my detention? How much did this woman love me? At least no more torture in the dungeon. "-give you your first detention. Your parents said I should not resist to discipline you when possible."
"Miss Vienna, I promise I will never be late for anything again. I don't want to be stuck here. It will spoil my reputation."
"I'm sorry but I can't do anything. Maybe next time, okay?"
Giving up, I looked away to avoid any eye contact with anyone. She wouldn't get convinced easily. She was one of my mother's friend. "Fine I will serve it but I hope you fulfill what you just said."
Putting up a smile, she spoke, "Oh for sure I will and thanks for understanding."
Glancing to the boys, her mood changed completely, dropping her smile. She didn't seem surprised with their appearance. Having a face of disgust on her face, she shook her head repetitively.
Wanting to ask for a detention slip, she had already stretched out her hand, "Here is your detention slip." Is all she said. She passed three papers alongside mine with a pen to sign.
I reached out for the paper and took a pen from my bag to sign. I couldn't wait for the boys to finish with the pen.
After I signed, I gave the paper back to her and hurried towards the door.
Seeing a hand on the door, I turned with an eye roll to see Michael. Holding the door handle, he opened it slowly.
"I have hands, I can open the door myself." I retorted.
"Hey come on chill, I just wanted to open the door for my princess, okay?"
At first, I didn't want to go through the door he had but I realized, I would be wasting my time standing in front of a door, so I just walked through.
I checked the school's clock and it was one minute away from me being late to my first class. That's when it had hit me that I had to go to the auditorium again to collect my time table schedule for school.
Running to the auditorium, I slowed my pace when I noticed there was no one there. I was trapped in confusion. I never came to school on the first day but rather on the second day because the first days were known for boredom.
I had to force myself to come today because my mum said she was going to visit my cousins and I didn't want to go or see them either. I walked gently out of the auditorium and I was pushed unto the floor by someone.
My jaw hitting the floor so hard. My knee feeling weak and numb as it made contact with the floor too. Feeling blood in my mouth, I spat it out.
Gently turning around to see someone, I flared in anger.
