Chapter 25

Takemichi hides from his mother the fact that he is seeing a psychologist. Yesterday, he told Baji about it, and today he shares it with the whole Touman group. Takemichi acts normally despite everyone's sympathetic looks.

They feel the same way as Chifuyu, thinking they aren't trusted enough by Takemichi to share his issues with them. He can only comfort them. Takemichi thinks Touman treats him too well.

He also reminds everyone to treat him normally again, not like something fragile. Chifuyu's plans are always silly like that. No wonder Takemichi found it strange when Touman came to take care of him. It was because Chifuyu told them about his condition, saying that if Takemichi had mental health issues, they should always keep him happy and prevent him from feeling sad.

But Takemichi doesn't realize that even if Chifuyu didn't say anything, even if they didn't know about his mental health, they already wanted to treat him well and with respect.

Since Takemichi was in the hospital after the battle, he doesn't know that his reputation has spread far in the delinquent world. He's become an unpredictable delinquent, some say he's weak, some say he's strong, some say he's harmless, while others claim he's ruthless. What they do know for sure is that Draken considers him a benefactor, Mikey treasures him, and Touman stands behind him, protecting him.

Takemichi takes Chifuyu with him to his medical appointment. Honestly, seeing a 14-year-old kid going to a mental health appointment with his friend makes the doctor feel both skeptical and sympathetic. Takemichi can't put into words what he feels seeing that look.

After checking his symptoms and giving advice, the doctor hypnotizes Takemichi to help him enter his subconscious and communicate with his inner personalities. This becomes his first official encounter with the two of them.

Takemichi once again arrives in the white room he had dreamed of before, seeing the same round table and three chairs.

"Weakling."

"Idiot."

"You're here, huh?" they say in unison.

Now, Takemichi clearly sees what his two inner personalities look like. How to describe it? It feels like having twin brothers with opposite styles. One is entirely black from head to toe, with dark eyes, a cold aura that feels untouchable, and an air of intense arrogance.

The other, apart from his black hair, is completely dressed in white, with sharp eyes, a sly and proud demeanor, like a spoiled prince, exuding an air of superiority.

They approach with extremely unfriendly looks, especially the one in black, his eyes are filled with murderous intent.

"Weakling, I should be the one controlling this body. You should disappear already," the guy in black says.

"I should be the one saying that, you arrogant jerk," the guy in white snaps back.

Takemichi stands still... it seems like things are chaotic inside him too. And also...

Takemichi knocks both of their heads: "What the heck? Why are my inner personalities a couple of kids? Speak properly, I'm 26 years old!" He looks at them, they both resemble himself at 14.

The two are stunned by the head knock, and Takemichi immediately cuts them off: "You two keep making trouble for me, giving me a headache! Weakling, idiot, aren't you tired of saying that? Now, which one of you jumped out last time? Confess, now!"

The Takemichi in black holds his head, glaring viciously at him: "It's because you couldn't do anything, so I had to take over. You got beaten to a pulp by just a few guys, so useless." Takemichi, unfazed, knocks him on the head again.

"Tone it down, kid. Cut that look out!" Connecting with his inner personalities? More like teaching these brats a lesson. Is there any patient like him?

The Takemichi in black looks furious, while the Takemichi in white smiles mockingly at him. It seems like these two don't get along in his subconscious either.

The three sit at the table, with Takemichi taking the lead, naturally, since this is his body, his subconscious. The two kids are just freeloaders.

"What are your names?" The doctor said that each personality could have different names, ages, and even genders.

The two stay silent, their faces full of disdain, clearly looking down on him. They're freeloading yet acting all high and mighty. Takemichi crosses his arms, threatening, "If you two don't talk, I'll knock you again." Still, they remain silent, but their expressions look more uncomfortable. Takemichi raises an eyebrow, then covers his mouth with a mocking laugh.

"Or maybe you don't have names?" Both of them scowl, and Takemichi bursts out laughing.

"I'm going to kill you and take over this body, so stop laughing," says the black-shirted Takemichi, gritting his teeth. The white-shirted Takemichi also looks furious. Takemichi wipes his tears from laughing too much.

"If you could've taken over, you'd have done it by now. I know my own willpower, alright? The only time you had a chance was when I was in deep despair. Otherwise, you'd have controlled my body more often by now."

Takemichi is incredibly confident. He thinks back, realizing that sometimes he feels like he's drifting away from the world, but ultimately, he always snaps out of it. Even before he knew these two existed, he had already been fighting them for a while. The only time the black-shirted one took control was when Takemichi truly gave up in despair, but he quickly regained control.

Both of them grit their teeth in frustration, clearly hit where it hurts.

"Alright, I'll call the black one 'Take' and the white one 'Michi'."

"Don't you dare give us your stupid name," Take snaps.

"That name is awful," Michi complains.

"It's just a nickname. Why are you two so picky? You're both a part of me, so what's wrong with using my name?"

Both of them freeze, shocked. "What do you mean, 'a part of you'? You should realize that we're different from you. We have our own consciousness, and we're trying to control this body," they say.

Takemichi casually replies, "I know why you two exist. There's no denying it. We may be different, but let's admit it, I created you. So, you should call me Dad."

Takemichi isn't sure where he picked up this teasing behavior.

"I'm going to kill you soon," Take says, frowning with a threatening look. But honestly, if Take had a different face, that glare might scare him, but who's afraid of their own face?

"I'm the original personality here. I'm the boss. Other people's original personalities might be weak, but not me," Takemichi says, full of pride.

"At least call me Takemichi nii-chan. I'm 12 years older than you two."

"Ha! Dream on! I'll never call someone stupid like you that, not ever!" Michi snaps back, glaring with disdain.

"Tch, you two need a lot of polishing. Take, you look like a rebel, and Michi, you're so stuck-up."

"I told you not to call me that," Take growls, his cold demeanor from earlier completely shattered by Takemichi.

"Stuck-up? Did you seriously just use that word to describe me?" Michi looks utterly shocked, like his pride has just been wounded, making such a big deal out of a single comment. Does that reaction make Michi come off cuter than his actual personality? Takemichi can't help but wonder.

Takemichi has mentally prepared himself well. He admits that he is truly haunted and in pain after his time travels. He couldn't accept or get over them. Even now, when he's back, his fears still surround him. He often has nightmares, seeing their deaths again, or a terrible future - Hinata still dying, Mikey wiping out all of Touman, or Takemichi himself becoming a ruthless gang leader. In those moments, he feels completely drained.

But he knows how to heal himself. As long as he can save everyone and see them happy, he believes those two inner personalities will disappear. So, he calmly accepts their existence.

Isn't Take born because he always sees himself as too weak to do anything, always helpless in the face of everyone's deaths, and he longs to be strong like Mikey or Draken to defeat everything? And with Michi, it's when he wants to give up, feeling like he's stupid - what saving everyone? He just wants a peaceful life, not to suffer for someone else's future anymore. They are both his desires and inner conflicts, so he easily accepts and doesn't reject these two personalities. He wants to live in harmony with them, and when the work is done, he can say goodbye in happiness.

Takemichi might be the most unique case of dissociative identity disorder the doctor has ever encountered. Usually, patients with this condition have gone through intense trauma, and their mental state is very fragile. In their first session, they usually struggle to accept the diagnosis. The core personality often has a hard time connecting with the other identities unless they go through a long treatment process. But Takemichi, on the other hand, easily accepts his condition and chooses to communicate with his other personalities from the very first day. And it has even been successful, he seems comfortable, smiling and talking happily. If the doctor hadn't personally examined him and confirmed the existence of other personalities, he might have thought Takemichi was just making things up like a child.

"What did you discuss with your other personalities?" the doctor asks.

"A deal to live peacefully together," Takemichi replies with a smile.
