Chapter 49
"Hey Hakkai, why the hell did your brother agree to help Takemichi anyway?"
That's the question everyone in Touman keeps asking. Even Kokonoi and Inupi can't believe their old boss actually sides with Takemichi.
"I called him to ask, and this is what he said," Hakkai says, putting his hands together like he's praying, mimicking his brother.
"The Lord has blessed him and shown him the way, so I shall follow whatever he does."
Mitsuya frowns, looking half amused, half confused.
"I don't get a word of that religious crap your brother's spouting."
"Yeah, me neither," Hakkai shrugs, shaking his head.
"But honestly, that sounds just like your brother... and yet not quite like him at all, you know?"
Hakkai thinks for a second, then mutters, "When he said it, he sounded super serious. Like, the way he talks when he's in church or something."
They both fall silent. The noise of the fight ahead dies down, snapping them back to reality. Mitsuya chuckles and changes the subject.
"Anyway, if we're calling Takemichi a blessing, I'm on board with that."
"Takachan's right," Hakkai nods eagerly, catching Mitsuya's meaning.
Honestly, it's better not to think too hard about it. The more you think, the weirder it gets.
"Wonder how the others are doing," Hakkai says.
"Third Division's handling Madarame Shion. Peyan's got him - should be no problem. Fourth Division's got Mucho, and Smiley's been dying to beat the crap outta him. But the craziest ones are the First Division - Baji, Chifuyu, Kazutora - they all insisted on taking on the Haitani brothers."
"I'll call and check later. We're pretty much done here anyway. This guy's tougher than he looks," Mitsuya says with a smile, glancing at the pile of Tenjiku members sprawled on the ground, their leader Mochi among them.
"Sorry for playing dirty, but Takemichi says we've got to beat you into the hospital."
Hakkai, who just landed a blow to the back of Mochi's nape while he's focused on attacking Mitsuya, speaks up with an apologetic tone - but his face is lit up with a grin. Mochi lies on the ground, teeth clenched, unable to get up. Something feels broken - he's not even sure where, because his whole body aches. They've only just set foot in Shibuya when his crew gets ambushed by Touman and the Black Dragons. Didn't the Black Dragons already leave Shibuya? Why are they still here? And how the hell do they know where his men would show up and strike in advance? Damn it. Now it's clear. Their whole plan - everything his side laid out - has been completely exposed. No, more than that. They've walked straight into a trap Touman laid out from the start.
The first squad, led by Baji, with Chifuyu and Kazutora, chooses to ambush the Haitani brothers. Of course, they pick those two. They still hold a grudge over Ran's stunt of forcing a kiss on Takemichi last time - not a day goes by they don't think about it. And with Takemichi's blessing to go all out, they know their moment has come. No way they're letting this chance slip by.
"Don't look so surprised, you bastards. This is the little gift Takemichi's prepared for you," Baji sneers, a wicked grin spreading across his face as he faces the bewildered Haitani brothers. Ran's smile falters, cracks completely. The sight of Black Dragon - who's supposed to be far, far away - makes the balance of power tip sharply against them.
"Our little sweetheart's really given us one hell of a present, huh," Ran says with a bitter laugh. Damn it, Rindou was right. Takemichi always brings chaos with him. Always. And Ran suddenly hates that truth more than ever.
The word "sweetheart" leaves Baji, Chifuyu, and Kazutora brimming with rage. Veins pop on their foreheads. Today, no matter what, they're sending the Haitani brothers - especially Ran - straight to the hospital. Kazutora's face darkens, his eyes dead cold as he glares at Ran.
"Sweetheart your ass, you piece of shit."
Chifuyu grits his teeth so hard it sounds like bone on bone, his eyes burning with pure rage, looking ready to incinerate Ran on the spot. He's terrifying - Takemichi probably wouldn't even recognize him like this. In front of Takemichi, the Toman guys are like clingy koalas, always laughing and fooling around, coddling him like babysitters. But behind his back? Toman's real nature is all raw, undiluted delinquency. They don't kill - but if it's about beating enemies half to death? They never even hesitate.
Knowing exactly what the past holds, Takemichi knows he has to prepare in advance. Miracles don't happen twice. The legendary battle - 50 Touman against 400 Tenjiku - won't repeat itself.
For a long time now, Takemichi has been planning to build his own force to counter Tenjiku. Step one: take over Black Dragon. Now, with a hundred men under him, he keeps them running their operations. Partly because he needs Black Dragon's money - to build another army. Once he has the capital, he needs a leader, someone who can grow that army and make it profitable at the same time. The one he picks is Shiba Taiju. That day in the hospital, Takemichi makes him an offer. Of course, convincing a madman like Taiju isn't easy. But Takemichi pulls it off.
Takemichi stays in the spotlight, drawing the underworld's attention, especially Kisaki's. Meanwhile, Taiju works quietly in the shadows, building up the real force behind him. And with Taiju's strength, leadership, and financial skills, he doesn't disappoint. In less than two months, Takemichi's forces swell to two hundred strong.
Takemichi knows Kisaki's got eyes on him. He's known ever since Christmas. Actually, he's counting on it - he lets Kisaki believe he's got a handle on things. Kisaki only sees what Takemichi lets him see. He keeps the Black Dragon crew on a tight leash, fully under his control. But he also spreads rumors - whispers that there's still dissatisfaction brewing inside Black Dragon. Kisaki bites. He makes his move. And every rat Kisaki bribes feeds him exactly the information Takemichi wants him to have. Kisaki doesn't suspect a thing.
Takemichi kinda enjoys it - squeezing money out of a guy he hates? It feels damn good. And the final piece of bait? A leak: Black Dragon is pulling out of Shibuya today for an "operation." It's the spark Takemichi needs to push Kisaki into setting his own plan in motion - the one meant to wipe out Touman's forces. Where they'll hit, who's involved, how many men cross into Shibuya - Takemichi knows it all, thanks to intel from Sanzu. Now he just waits for Kisaki to walk straight into the trap. Everything that happens today - every single move - is part of Takemichi's design.
Kakuchou watches Takemichi's back as he strides through the Tenjiku crowd. For a moment, he sees a flash of the past - the little boy in a red cape, running through the streets. That boy, who once dreamed of being a hero. The boy who would charge at bullies without hesitation, shouting cheesy hero lines he picked up from TV shows. Even if his knees trembled, he would still stand in front of others to protect them. Even when beaten black and blue, he'd still get up, still smile that dazzling smile. Back then, when Kakuchou was still just a happy kid, he had admired that boy so much. Takemichi had been his hero.
Even though now Kakuchou acts like the past is long gone, deep down, a tiny part of him still hopes Takemichi is the same. But standing here, at this moment, Kakuchou admits it. Takemichi isn't his hero anymore. Takemichi has found something he wants to protect. And sadly, Kakuchou isn't part of it. What's worse - he realizes now - he's about to become Takemichi's enemy.
Takemichi has just greeted Taiju when someone steps up to him. The guy is a whole head taller - handsome, clean-cut, and way too refined-looking compared to the rugged, fierce underlings in Taiju's gang. There's always a faint smile on his lips, a calm demeanor that makes him stand out among the new recruits.
Takemichi has met him a few times and has never seen him lose composure. That alone leaves quite the impression. Taiju says he's reliable, but Takemichi still feels a little uneasy around him. Something about the guy puts him on edge.
The man bows slightly to meet Takemichi at eye level, respectfully offering him the Black Dragon leader's uniform.
"Your uniform, Boss."
"Thanks, Kimura-kun."
Takemichi nods and turns around, letting him help with the outfit. Kimura fastens each button, straightens the collar, smooths every wrinkle. He's skilled and practiced, and as Takemichi stands there in the uniform, his small frame somehow radiates the presence of a king.
Taiju looks on, clearly satisfied - his hard work helping Takemichi look the part of a gang boss hasn't gone to waste.
But Mikey and Draken? Not so pleased. Why the hell is Takemichi wearing a Black Dragon uniform instead of a Toman one? Takemichi belongs to Touman, after all. And that guy dressing him - doesn't that count as touching a bit too much? Hands off, damn it!
Then, noticing how Taiju is looking at Takemichi, the two throw sharp glares his way. Taiju, of course, doesn't back down. He lifts an eyebrow, meeting their gaze with one of his own. Sparks fly - figuratively, but almost literally.
Takemichi finishes slipping on his gloves, notices the standoff, and claps once between them.
"Can you guys chill? This is supposed to be a high-stakes moment."
The three immediately turn away and adjust their postures. Just then, Izana steps forward, followed closely by Kakuchou, Kisaki, and Hanma.
Izana's eyes burn with hatred as he looks at Takemichi. The pain stabs at Takemichi's heart, but he acts like he doesn't notice.
"Sorry for the cold welcome," Izana says, voice icy.
"Yeah, a bit rude, don't you think? We treated your side real warmly," Taiju shoots back.
Kisaki starts to catch on and clenches his jaw, his whole face tightening in frustration.
"Shiba Taiju, what the hell are you doing here? I thought you gave up the Black Dragon leader's seat?"
Taiju calmly places a hand on Takemichi's head and replies, unbothered:
"I'm currently the advisor and representative of the Black Dragon boss. In other words, I'm working for this punk now."
His words throw the entire Tenjiku side into chaos. Maybe they haven't fought the Tenth Gen Black Dragon yet, but they've definitely heard of Taiju - how strong, arrogant, and brutal he is.
News that he lost to Takemichi was already a shockwave in the delinquent world. But now, hearing from his own mouth that he's serving under Takemichi? That's next-level insane. And the way he says it - so casually, like it's no big deal. If his old crew heard this, they'd probably just drop dead on the spot. Even the people here who see it with their own eyes and ears are struggling to believe it.
Mikey and Draken frown slightly. Forget everyone else - they didn't even know this. When Takemichi first told them, they were just as stunned as the crowd here. But honestly, more than anything, they're both irritated by one thing: why does Taiju keep putting his damn hand on Takemichi's head every time he talks?
"That's a long story, huh?"
Takemichi shrugs, looking up at Taiju.
Taiju smirks. "Sure is."
Mikey and Draken both feel their guts twist. The chemistry in that back-and-forth banter is way too smooth. They seriously just want to yank Takemichi away from Taiju.
"I don't care who you are. You're all dead meat. I'm killing every last one of you today."
The violet in Izana's eyes darkens with a murderous gleam, laced with chaos and pain - pain that he caused. But Takemichi would rather see that than emptiness. That hollow, soulless stare... that's what truly scares him. Madness is fine. Just show your emotions, all of them.
And Izana, in this state, doesn't stand a chance against Mikey.
Mikey cracks his knuckles, warming up. He glances at Takemichi. Takemichi nods, and only then does Mikey take a step forward, facing Izana head-on.
"Hey, big bro! Let's fight. Today, I'm beating you up."
Izana smirks, mocking the words big bro.
"I'm not your brother. And today, you pay - for stealing everything from me, Mikey."
He stole his brother. He stole the hope he had just begun to find.
The moment the words leave his mouth, the two of them charge. Their kicks clash with such force it feels like they could shatter the ground beneath. And just like that, the battle explodes. White against red, chaos erupts as the gangs collide.
Draken squares off with Kakuchou. Taiju takes Hanma. And Kisaki - he's Takemichi's.
"What a pain, seriously. Who the hell expected this mess today?"
Hanma groans dramatically. Who could've guessed it would come to this? Just moments ago, he was mocking Izana, calling him a bastard for tricking this innocent soul, Takemichi. Yet now it turns out they're the ones trapped. The hunters become the hunted.
Taiju doesn't have time for Hanma's nonsense. He answers with a signature punch that could level a wall. Hanma blocks just in time - lucky for him, or that would've hurt. He silently curses Taiju for being a damn beast. But no matter how many hits come, Hanma still grins with that infuriating, mocking smile.
"God, that hurts, Counselor."
Taiju raises a brow, scoffing as always. "You've got quick reflexes. Let's see how many more you can take."
Meanwhile, another fierce fight is unfolding - two warriors who also happen to be babysitters for their gang leaders.
"Takemitchy said you were tough. Guess he's not wrong, huh?"
Draken throws a punch at Kakuchou as he talks.
"Appreciate the compliment of Bakamichi."
Draken remembers Takemichi saying Kakuchou was a childhood friend. He hadn't felt much about it at the time. But hearing someone else call Takemichi by that nickname - so casually - it makes his blood boil. He clenches his teeth. He's gotta win this fight. He has to prove he's stronger - for Takemichi.
Kisaki slips to the back. Amid the chaos, Takemichi feels... satisfied. For the first time, he has the upper hand. The man who ruined his life, who wrecked everyone around him - he's finally within reach.
Thugs from Tenjiku charge at him too, but Takemichi isn't weak anymore. One punch, and he drops a guy. Taiju, even while locked in with Hanma, still keeps an eye on him.
"You've improved. But you're still too soft, brat."
Takemichi's used to it. That's probably the highest praise he'll ever get from Taiju.
And he has to admit - he feels a rush. He's thrilled. More panicked than Kisaki now, more scared, even. Let it show. He wants to see it.
In the swirl of battle, Kisaki catches a glimpse of that sinister smile, those bright eyes of Takemichi - eyes that shine, yet hide no bottom.
Takemichi still doesn't know why he has the power to time travel. He doesn't know if it's a blessing or a curse. The mix of joy and pain... he can't say for sure. But none of that matters now. In this moment, he chooses to see it as a gift - one granted by the gods themselves.

I just found a super dope AllTakemichi fanfic that I need to share with y'all! Just a heads-up tho, it's ABO, so keep that in mind before diving in.
Lowkey, I really wanna take this one under my wing and translate it, but I couldn't get in touch with the author... Their situation is kinda complicated, hard to explain in just a few words... sigh Anyway, moving on.
Y'all already know my taste from Control, right? I like fics that don't stray too far from canon and actually make sense. This one's pretty creative, so if you're cool with ABO and have a similar vibe to me, I think you'll enjoy it!
Only issue is I couldn't get permission to translate, so if you wanna read it, you'll have to check out the original work and use Google Translate for English, haha. But lemme hook y'all up with a translated summary so you can see if it's your thing!
