Chapter I: Alpha meets his Witch

Why, hello again my lovely readers.

You know what day is today? You do don't you?!

IT'S FREAKING HALLOWEEN.

Actually it's day after Halloween, but I was on a Halloween party lol and forgot to update haha

BUT ANYWAY!!!

That calls for another supernatural story as a gift from me to you!!!

I present you a project I've been on for quite a while — I started this story in 2019, it's 2024 now ah... I decided to go for a story with werewolf King because idk I'm not really satisfied with the ones I've read up 'till now. I wanted an alpha that was more on the edge. I wanted a villain that wanted his mate not just because she was one, but because of something more complicated. No gods involved, no crazy rouges obsessed with King's mate, no characters that will bend to the will of their males, no bonding that will make them stay by each other just because of a mate bond, no innocence because they're naive — but it would all lead to an incredibly pure love at the end of this story.

Ha, pure I said...

Pure, dramatical roller-coaster is what I aim to reach with this story. Charlotte is not strong at the beginning, but she learns how to change. Nathaniel is jerk, but he became one because no one showed him any other way - tho, I wanted to just be; "Do I kill him at the end of this chapter or what?"at many points. So i just gave up and made the villain a male lead (five years do wonders).

This is the second book in order, first being called: "Vampire and a Wolf" you can find on my profile, but it's not really necessary if you want to read this — I'll try to make it so. One thing you should understand is that Charlotte is a hybrid — hybrids get some strange powers from their birth and her so happens to be able to use magic — making her essentially a witch.

Another thing is that she is an Alne — a type of werewolves that are stronger and really, really powerfull — which is (or so is believed) the reason why they are they hunted to extinction — 'cuz ya know, king aka. former male lead aka. current bad guy, felt threatened.

No one liked them, story is set far into the future where supernatural ruled over Earth.

No advanced technology because they found it unnecessary — and more dangerous for nature. There are two kings: Werewolf and Vampire one. Charlotte is daughter of first and mate of later.

Those rules and races don't apply to every werewolf story of mine, only in these two books.

With this, continue on with the story.

Chapter 1:

†Alpha meets his Witch†

Do not go out. Do not leave the castle.

Charlotte should've know better than to lurk the castle grounds unguarded at night.

But the partying that's been going on for the entire past week since she got a younger brother was too much for her — she could not stay with those drunk idiots even for another second. Vampires do not get drunk, maybe —but someone 'kindly' asked her if she could make something to create such a drink and her being curious about her 'witch' skills and how far could they go — she managed to make her own potion no. 45 - "Pull the Claw out and Twist the Whiskers", how she called it.

People got interested, wave of excitement spread and so the entire castle has been drunk for entire week.

But Charlotte was not a witch, not at all. She was actually a hybrid; vampire and werewolf one, at that.

To make things worse, her father was the King Caine, ruler of all vampires while her mother was an Alne werewolf — more powerful than any ordinary Alpha and the number one enemy of every other race out there.

Not even rare witches many mistook her for could compare with an Alne. It's rumoured that only the Alpha King had enough power to fight them off, their bodies too strong to injure, their spiritual awareness too high to be influenced by magic. Everyone else was just like pups fighting the monsters.

Recalling the Werewolf King, the wolf inside of her was quite confident that she could take him on and win. That made Charlotte roll her eyes, she wasn't even able to shift and her wolf wanted to fight the most dangerous werewolf in existence. Arrogance did run in her blood, after all. She would put her father's name to shame if she didn't at least plan to rule half the planet.

Werewolves were able to shift at the young age, but as much as her mother explained to her, she didn't shift until she was eighteen — or until she mated with Caine. Why did a fine wolf decide to sleep until it met the king of its sworn enemy is beyond Charlotte's understanding, but as much as she understood, the tale of her parents was like an dramatic teen romance that burned her overly logical brain cells — and she really didn't want to understand that either.

But unlike her mother, Charlotte was able to feel her wolf since she was a pup — only, unable to shift. There was no conversations between her and the wolf as many would think. Instead, it's like having an inner wolf inside of your head that would occasionally growl, perk its ears, tuck its tail and so on. Although she couldn't see her wolf, she could feel her doing those actions. Being an Alne made her wolf even more dominant.

An Alne.

A hated existence.

She didn't mind being who she is, but she knew that if her mate were to discover her identity, he'd probably reject her because of it. Alne were hated and to be killed on sight. If her soul-mate was a Vampire, then she might not have as much problems being who she is, seeing as their policy to kill Alne broke down when they discovered that their queen was one. That was, however, a reason why the war between werewolves and vampires started after so many years of friendship.

As much as she understood; werewolves loathed Alne because they were superior and dangerous to them, and their leader, Werewolf King, had a hobby of killing them.

Sadistic jerk, she though and her wolf gave a silent growl of approval.

She sighed, praying that her mate was not a werewolf. Even if he accepted her, his king wouldn't.

It was those thoughts that haunted her mind and were the reason for her being awake and wandering around castle grounds in the middle of the night while everyone else was sleeping.

Walking through the garden filled with rare black roses, she hoped that her worries would disappear with the light of the full moon illuminating the sky. Suddenly, she heard the sound of bell echoing through the night informing her that it was midnight. Taking a deep breath, she tightly hugged the robes covering her body — she was in nothing but her nightgown and a little coat she had loved since she was little. Although it no longer fit her, her mother tried to make a little one that couldn't be used as mini blanket and cover her shoulders — and her sewing skills were so good that you wouldn't even notice it being something else.

She glanced at her environment as her wolf suddenly perked her ears giving her a quiet, warning growl. Something was off. If she had a body now, her fur would have rustled.

"I can't have that much of a bad luck," she mumbled to herself.  Although she couldn't shift, her hearing was heightened compared to normal humans, but since she never really met another werewolf, she couldn't say how good it was compared to theirs.

Her wolf snorted, once again being confident in her skills.

Charlotte was, however, not as brave as she took a hesitant step towards the woods in front of her. Some strange, nagging feeling pushed her forward as she tried to run back. But something else controlled her body as her wolf rose, sniffing the air. She heard the sound of leaves rustling as her eyes widened, her wolf growling at whoever dared to approach her, taking a fighting stance. But it was useless, her body couldn't growl nor shift — she was no different than a human at the moment.

Finally getting hold of her own body, she took a step back ready to run as she heard more and more footsteps approach, and as few people appeared in front of her, she could only curse.

So much for not having bad luck.

She contemplated about what to do, she might use her powers to somehow slow them down then call for help... Not a good idea, they were drunk, blood would be spilt unnecessary. One of them stepped out and sniffed the air before turning to the tall, blonde guy who emerged from the forest at that moment.

"It's a human. Royal Beta, what do we do?" he spoke and she realized that they were werewolves before gulping. Beta means second in command. But even worse, it meant second in command in a werewolf pack.

Bad luck, definitely.

The only thing she had on her side was the fact that hybrids smelled just like ordinary humans to those who didn't know the difference. She chose to act fast.

"P-please, don't harm me," not enough, more desperation, "I-I'm ju-just a maid, p-please I won't tell a-anyone about y-you," bull-candle, she was a princess, of course she'd warn her home of intruders, "P-please, s-spare my l-life," good thing she practiced fake-crying for all those years, even she would've been tricked by herself.

He shook her head.

"Kill her quickly before she alerts someone. We can't risk survivors," the Beta guy spoke as her wolf bared her fangs at him, satisfying look on her face as she looked behind him.

"Understood, Royal Beta," the same guy said as he took a step forward, the sound of paws hitting the ground from behind them resounding clearly, warning them of an approach of the ultimate predator making everyone bow down to their knees. Everyone, but Charlotte.

As on cue, an earth-shattering growl could be heard as black wolf emmerged from the shadows, his body morphing to human flesh in the mid-jump.

Silence.

Pure and utter silence lingered in the air as two pairs of eyes met, neither removing the gaze, neither blinking away.

Although the strong moonlight illuminated the back of the newcomer, his front was still hidden in the shadows making Charlotte curse for almost having ruined her young, innocent eyes with the guy who stood in front of her in all his naked glory. Her wolf laid down, sizing him from head to toe as she growled in approval before lying down to sleep. Her job to call out to him was done, it's her skin's side to mate now.

Charlotte gulped, taking a glance at the landscape behind her trying to see if someone has sobered up and noticed the commotion — hoping that they would come to her aid, but she saw no one. She then glanced back at the naked guy who moved forward allowing the moonlight to illuminate his face as she gasped at what she saw. Short raven black hair and grey eyes, not her type but suddenly it was.

His jaw strongly defined as he grit his teeth making her forget to breath, the beauty of this stranger made her unable to remove her gaze from. She gulped, that kind of reaction her body gave away was something she heard of many times from other mated couples, but she rejected that idea. She couldn't accept the fact that he was her...

"Mate."

And that was not a Vampire.

He said it so quietly that she wouldn't have heard it if she were a normal human, others gasped in surprise. They came here to kill all the vampires, but instead they found their King's soul mate.

Their future Queen.

"No," he whispered. But then his voice turned into loud, angry growl as he repeated his words that made Charlotte's chest burn with pain. Her wolf perked her ears, no longer was she sleeping, she stood up, fur rustled, ready to pounce at this male that clearly denied her chance to be with his wolf.

Her destinied.

"I don't want you, fuck!" he yelled as she whimpered, hurt by his words. She took a step back, she wanted to run. As irresponsible as it seemed, she no longer cared about anyone. She heard that when mates meet, they immediately fall in each other's arms, yet he was openly rejecting her in front of his men, his eyes staring at her in hatred.

"Your Highness. What do we do?" Beta asked and he cursed before taking angry steps towards her as her instincts finally started to work making her turn to run from him. She didn't even make a step before another earth-tumbling growl echoed through the night.

Run.

She didn't hesitate to keep running, wanting to get away from him, he was danger, her little coat falling off her shoulders before she even noticed. The next thing she knew, her body was sent flying and she was slammed in the nearby fountain.

Her visions blurring, she saw a pair of bare feet come in front of her face. Her wolf in contrast of her skin side, up on all four ready to pounce. The male in front of her was not even worthy to be her mate, he dared to attack them.

He needed to be taken down.

"This is your fault. This is all your fucking fault," were last words she heard before darkness completely consumed her.

Nathaniel growled in anger as the pathetic female under him lost consciousness. It was supposed to go smoothly. They were supposed to attack and kill them all before they even saw him coming, yet now they had to abort the entire mission because he found his mate.

His wolf snarled at him, for the first time rebelling against his skin's side, jumping restlessly at the back of his head, nagging him to take his mate and leave. It didn't want war on an unfamiliar territory where his mate would have to come in between, where she could be hurt. He fought to take over Nathaniel's body, fur threatening to come out from his skin as he turned his head to his warriors.

"Retreat, we are leaving," short and clear message, dominance tumbling around every single word as everyone immediately obeyed — no one dared to go against their King.

With the last glance at his mate, he took her in his arms before following after his men, knowing that his wolf is going to be too distracted to fight, but not before whispering for the one last time:

"This is all your fault, girl."
